Android Auto not supported on Lollipop any more - Android Auto General

Hello all,
I have a Samsung Android phone with the Android version 5.1.1. The phone has the Android Auto (AA) app that used to work well for connecting the phone to the car (a 2019 Honda) so that I could look at maps, control phone calls etc. on the car touchscreen.
Few months ago the app stopped working on my phone and doing some research online I have found that now AA requires a phone with Android version 6.0 or above. I know my 5.1.1 is on an old phone, but I am totally fine with that except for this problem.
It seems i can update the version on my phone to, let say, 6.0 or above. This is not an update my phone lets me do easily. I see that the procedures for this update require to go through the developer mode and before doing it i want to make sure i am not messing up. I am reading on the web about rooting the phone, about custom getting a ROMs based on higher versions of Android, extracting an APK for the AA app, etc., and about people that doing these operations have messed up their phone.
I am sure that tons of you have done these operations so I am looking for some advices and maybe past experiences. The phone is a Samsung Grand Prime SM-G530AZ
Thanks a lot!

Have you tried to uninstall AA apk from your phone and then to sideload an older version from apkmirror? Just search the internet to find out what architecture your phone has and then download and install an older version of AA from apkmirror site. Try this repeatedly backwards in time until you find the AA version that works with Android 5.
It is much more easier than to upgrade your phone's Android version, if the upgrade was not officially released.

I have tried to install an older version of AA, but then the App wants to update when it is launched. I was not able to block that. :mad

1. You can not install an older version on top of a newer one.
2. If you do everything as I instructed you, then when you find the version that's working, you go to the Play Store to your installed apps, find the AA app and disable the auto update.
See attached picture as an example. Your Play Store might look differently because of the android version, but you should get the idea where and what to look for.

Google Playstore v 3.7.11 (Stripped from Jelly Bean 4.1)

Well, I just updated my Google Playstore app to v 3.7.11. So far, nothing significant changes had been done. Maybe because of my location right now. So, I'm not sure about others.
Anyway, here's the link for the app:

How is it possible to tell if the install worked? I have run the apk, and it says it installed sucessfully, but there I cant really see any difference.
Do I have to put the apk file in a specific location or just run the install?

You can check the version at setting menu in Play Store.
Same as mine. Almost non changes except in Editor's choices UI..
Maybe because of region support. Some will receive like the 3rd post one.

what is difference between normal and pro?
In Free version :
1. You can't send files greater then 5MB
2. You can't have 5 files at server, if you uploaded 5 files, you must download one of them at the other side
to upload a new one.
please write your positive comments at google play store : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nex.sego
and if any problem : http://www.pctopda.com/feedback.php

Hey guys,
I had Google Phone app installed as an apk file but I forgot the version. After resetting my phone yesterday, and try to download again from apkmirror, it couldn't be installed on my phone
Does anyone have a working Google Phone app? Please let me know the version. Thanks
Edit:
Here's some info
- Hardware: Z3 Compact
- OS: Sony's android 6.0.1
- App versions I tried: 2.5.12_rc9, 2.3.17, 3.0.1.15_rc15 (all failed). I can't install from PlayStore, it says "This app is incompatible with all of your devices."
- Error was: "App not installed"

Hi, your post is lacking information.
What version OS are you running?
You fail trying to install the phone apk, what error?
What version phone.apk did you try to install?
There is a Google phone on the playstore, why can't you use that?
@Wajik has some old Google phone dialers listed on his Slim page, have you tried any of those?

Works for me without problems
Thanks. What's wrong with my store? I'll try to get it sorted out... but I don't know how...

Nothing is wrong with your store...
With the first rom before 128 update Vlc was avaliable for download through playstore... Now with 128 & 131 isn't available - compatible with our device... You will have to wait for an update of Vlc or download apk from another source except playstore, install it without problem

Wich version do you install please?
Il don.t find the good une.
VLC have blocked selected Huawei phones from downloading the app via play store.
This is due to Huawei's aggressive battery management killing background audio playback leading to 1* reviews from Huawei users who do not understand that it is their phone and not the app causing the issue.

Power Requirements
I had VLC transferred between my old phone and my p20 pro it was already updated but anyway, the amount of music on my phone is sizeable like most and when using the Hauwei media app I found that it simply could open the files. So I tried out with VLC media player and it worked with files supposedly unable to open, however if the phone was on standby the app would be forced shut down.
So those of you using a P20 Pro: Go to your settings, go to your power management section, click on your app you wish to turn off the power management requirements and there you go, VLC is now useable at all times.
Good afternoon,
Can anyone let me know which version of the apk I need to install onto the P20 please? I am looking at all the different versions here

Could not install

I've a note 9 with adapter and the gear vr that fits it, running Android 10 but a lot of the apps I try to dl from the Oculus store come up with "could not install" after 100 percent, not all but most I'm trying to get the Jurassic world apatosaurus one for my son as I downloaded the other version that installed and he loved that but after uninstalling everything and reinstalling the Oculus app and drivers when I load that app up it's now saying please update oculas to the latest version, but I'm on the latest version?..
I've tried contacting Samsung who couldn't help they passed me onto customer service of Oculus who like Samsung didn't help..
Ideally I don't want to factory reset my phone again as like before it was a waste of time and didn't solve the problem, anyone got any clues how to fix this?..
When I try to install OCULUS ARCADE it tells me its an Oculus GO app. That might explain the error. If you have an old apk which works with GearVR you can try apk Extractor on it to generate an apk file which you can copy to your new phone. You probably need to sign the apk on the new phone. The app injector for GearVR could be helpful and it is easy to use. That are the steps I would try in this situation
