Hi, I want to install darkys rom
to do this, i need to install cwm, which looks quite easy to do.
But i need to know how to uninstall it because i dont want to void my phones warranty.
So, can you please help me, how to uninstall Clockworkmod recovery and go back to original recovery (2e) ?
I think you're missing something. I'm sure that installing that custom ROM will void your warranty. I don't know which version of Darkys you're looking at but I expect it includes root acces, likely includes Clockwork Recovery and likely also includes a custom kernel.
What I do (and I think most people who play around with custom ROMs) is install whatever app is needed / wanted. If something goes bust with your phone, you should in most scenarios still be able to flash back a stock firmware and submit it for service. That's exactly what I've done on two occasions (my service issues weren't a result of my flashing) and what I know many others have done.
Good luck.
gtg2,
i know i am installing a rom will void my warranty.
what i can do is, i can flash an official samsung i9000 rom, back to my phone.
but will it also uninstall clockworkmod recovery? or should i do something special?
install samsung firmware with odin, and then go to kies and update the firmware?
how can i go back to official recovery, mine was "recovery 2e" ??????

It's unclear from your messages whether you're still running the original firmware or have upgraded already. If you're on the original, enter *#1234# in your phone's dialpad and post back here what it reports under PDA. Using that, you can find your original firmware for Android 2.1 on http://samfirmware.com and flash it to go back to stock and recovery 2e when you're through playing with a custom ROM. If you're not running your original firmware, you'll need to figure out what your original firmware was (I don' t know what it would have been for your area).
Do you know how to use ODIN to flash firmwares? If not, read up on the reference guide for our phone. I've found it very helpful.

Good luck.
hey Gtg2,
First off, thank you for your helps.
I am sorry i couldnt make it clear, i hope i do now:
I am on custom rom now (Darkys 8.0 rom).
I am new to this and this is my 5th day with my galaxy, i bought it as second hand and 22months more guarantee i had.
I need to know how to go back to original rom and recovery because just incase. If i bring my phone now (with custom rom and cwm recovery) then the service will say your phone is out of warranty. So, i need to know how to go back to make everything original.
I noted my phones codes, here they are:
pda: i9000jvjh1
phone: i9000jxjg2
csc: i9000trcji1
When installing the custom rom, i didnt make a nandroid backup because i already found one in the net. So, i dont have nandroid backup too.
I never used odin nor samfirmware (as i couldnt find anything same with my phones codes there (pda: i9000jvjh1, phone: i9000jxjg2, csc: i9000trcji1 - it was 2.1 Eclair).
I can find a laptop to use odin anytime tho (i am a mac user).
So, as i understand from your post; if i find my stock firmware (dont know where i can) and install it via odin then everything will be original (cwm recovery will gone and recovery 2e will come back) ?????
A friend of mine (not so technical person tho) said that i should use nandroid to back to original firmware then use kies to install newer firmware (downgrade to 2.1 then upgrade to 2.2.1). Should i do this????
just i need to know the process... sorry for long msg.
Thank you...
You wont find the branded firmware that came with your phone unless you have a copy .
Simplest will be to use Odin to flash to an older version Eclair .
Then use the Kies registry hack to upgrade to current software from your provider that will be branded .It would not matter if clockwork was on as its a legitimate product .

Agreed. This would work.
Thank you very much to both of you...
Can someone help me find stock 2.1 firmware that comes with t-mobile galaxy s in croatia?
I wanna keep it in backup if I will need to use warranty so I can flash it back to original state.
If you have not backed it up you will have to find somebody with a copy .

I didn't back it up. But if you know how to backup tell me so I can backup my current 2.2 version that is also original.

So it cannot be done?
"6.I want to install new firmware but I want to have a backup of my original firmware to go back to in case I need to go back for warranty reasons. Can I backup my original firmware somehow?
As of now, there is no way of backing up firmware entirely. However, there are firmwares out for every region and virtually all regions have received a 2.2 or 2.2.1 upgrade which can be applied through Kies or Odin."
It is possible, but tedious. How I would do it:
Use Kies patcher 1.7.0.0 to spoof your device back to 2.1.
Assuming spoof is successful, after downloading is completed and begin to flash your phone, click on the Kies patcher where there is an option to let you save the tar file. That tar file will be your backup.
If you want to get back to stock, use odin to flash. For more details, search for the thread on Kies patcher in the forum.

That method is the one i use as well as it gives a full rom but it is a long winded way of backing up original .

I looked there but there's a lot of firmwares and I can't figure out which firmware is for me.
According to the Kies Registry Patcher, 'CRO' is linked to this firmware...
I9000BOJI1/I9000CROJI1/I9000BOJF1/I9000BOJI1
Here is a link to JF1 from SamFirmware.com

Thank you very much. I'm downloading that so it will be my backup in case I need waranty.
Best regars!

Those are merely product codes for different networks, I too would suggest that you use Kies 1.5 and use Kies registry patcher to spoof product code for CRO/VIP and it should provide latest official firmware for those codes.
Other way is to manually download fw via samfirmware.com and flash it via ODIN.
s a link to JF1 from SamFirmware.com
That is not your network branded firmware .

Hey guys I'm in a bit of a pickle.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 WIFI/3G (Model GT-P7300 I think).
I somehow managed to install Overcome ROM on it when I first got it. Now I want to give it to my Dad and I would like to revert everything back to factory default stock and all. I'm not sure what a Kernal is and not sure if I need to revert that too but probably.
How do I best go about this? I am having much difficulty understanding from googling and reading forum posts and I am not familiar with the acronyms and lingo the community uses. Would you be so kind to please explain to me step-by-step detailed as if I was a child lol
Please link me to everything I need to download!
Oh and another thing: I bought this tab in Asia so it has English and other Asian languages installed. Can I install a different language ROM for my Dad? (I think he prefers Swedish). Will it be locked to any providers or anything?
Thank you very much in advance. I really need help with this
Here's the stock unbranded firmware for Nordic countries
Here's the branded firmware for Telia (couldn't find any other carrier branded for Sweden
Then just flash using Odin, that will wipe everything though, but you'll be back to stock
I don't understand how to flash with Odin .. I don't even know what Odin is! Please give me super simple instructions
I downloaded the firmware file and I put it on my tablet's SD card. I rebooted into Recovery mode and I try to apply the update from the ZIP file. But it says it cannot Open it?! What am I doing wrong?
All is explained in this post here, that is stickied at the top of this section
overome is quite a standard rom with features that are not really seen... the look is stock... I don't see a reason to revert back...
Thanks guys, I successfully flashed with Odin and I think it was a success. You have been very helpful.
But I am still not sure if 100% everything is set to default stock in case of a future warranty claim. Is there anything else I should do? Do I need to install stock Recovery as well?
Thanks again.

If you used Odin and one of the stock firmwares then it should have flashed a stock recovery as well IIRC, I'm pretty sure Odin on these tabs does the whole kit and kaboodle when it flashed
So I had a botched situation caused by me when flashing a custom Rom (Rom/instructions is great, I went off the reservation myself) and had a soft brick.
I had decided at that point to just revert back to stock and not play around until things stabilize with Eng more. However, I couldn't.
The last stock referenced topic is with an outdated firmware and being 950U1 rather than just U. Downloading updated firmwares (or even attempting that one blindly) resulted in "Device dismatch".
I was then basically forced to (and successfully) go to SamPWN but that wasn't my initial intention.
Does anyone have an updated guide on how we can go back to stock without EngBoot, and specifically also states which CSC file is needed?

As I stated, I've attempted this and it failed. Plus it doesn't explain which file for the CSC had it worked anyhow. Downloading the latest results in the model dismatch. So can't JUST download and flash. But thanks for atleadt trying.
@charkata thanks for the links, I'll check them out and see how that goes.

Not the home version. And try using modified Odin.

I'll give it a go, going to try to do it in an hour or so and see if it'll work with the PrinceC version.
Is there any chance (in your or anyone elses opinion) that the mismatch could be the result of the custom rom being based on U1 rather than just U?

No, it can't modify hardware based model number.

You should be able to just completely reflash the stock TMB firmware with the modded Odin without an issue...am I understanding correctly that this did not work? Download the Prince Comsey modded Odin. It has a .ini file that you need to open w/ a text editor like notepad++, and edit UMS=0 to UMS=1 -this allows you to also flash the userdata file included in the TMB firmware, along w/ the normal BL, AP, CP & CSC.
Make sure you downloaded the correct firmware for the S8 (G950U), not S8+ (G955U).

Did this work? Can anyone confirm? If not, I'm going to try it this weekend and hopefully I'll remember to reply here with results.
Hello I've recently moved from iphones to my first Samsung. A Galaxy S10 which I bought off the internet.
The instruction booklet that came with it was in foreign which I didnt think anything of as it accepted my sim card and everything seemed to be working ok. However when i came to set up samsung pay I realised the phone was set up for the united arab emirates, which samsung pay wants me to register to.
Can I reflash the phone to a Uk rom, or am I stuck with the phone as it is? If I can reflash is it done using Smart Switch?
Thanks in advance for any help
You can reflash the stock rom you're on, yes. Try a data factory reset first in recovery.

Thanks, I'll try a factory reset first. Can I just ask a couple of questions in case it doesn't work so I don't end up with a paperweight. I've jailbroken iphones in the past, but never owned an Android, so I don't know what I can/cant do.
1) I'm on O2. I assume its firmware G973FXXS7CTG1 I need. Will the CSC be correct after the reflash? From what I can make out from other posts, if I reflash with my simcard inserted, this will change automatically.
2) Will the reflash trigger Knox? As far as I know the phone is unrooted currently and I'd rather keep it intact if possible.
3) Will I still receive OTA updates, or will I need to do them manually?
4) Is the reflash done through Odin not SmartSwitch?
5) My Smartswitch backup will be restorable after the firmware change? (It's not backed up for one specific firmware only)
Thanks

1: Get Frija to d/l your firmware as it is the fastest way to d/l. Input your model no. and CSC (in your case: O2U), check Auto and Frija will give you the latest firmware for O2. Never heard ones simcard should have any influence when flashing???
2: No. Knox is only triggered if you flash TWRP/ custom ROM/ Magisk aka root your phone. It is completely safe to flash stock ROM using Odin.
3: Not sure - am rooted myself. My experience upgrading via Odin is safe/fast/reliable.
4: Odin. Most important: use HOME_CSC in the CSC-slot. This will keep/restore all your data/apps.
5: Never used Smartswitch???
Cheers. I had a trial run using my galaxy tab a. All went well so going to do my phone next. Thanks for the help.
Update:
Tried my phone but something's not working. I've extracted the firmware from Frija, selected home_csc as well as the ap,bl and cp.
The flash starts, but for some reason though after about 3 seconds I get Odin saying Pass, the phone restarts and nothing seems to have changed on the phone.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? The phone was in download mode
