LineageOS - Can't Film Video?? - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

I just went back to stock to test this... and was able to film videos just fine.... fresh install of LineageOS and i can take pictures, but videos will not record... anyone else having this issue?
EDIT-
I went back to the nov. 15th build and filming video works, so it must have gotten broken in one of the 3 updates since release (i can't be sure which, but certainly is broken on the one from yesterday dec 6th. build)

[Q] CM6 camcorder focus

So last night I swapped out my Milestone for my Nexus One because it takes better videos in the dark... and I was hoping to film some performances on the closing night of one local nightclub in town.
The first few videos turned out really fuzzy and I was frustrated because this had never happened before I installed CyanogenMod 6. I quickly Googled the issue and found this:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/5336-cm60-stable-no-video-focus/
So I tried the workaround - enter camera mode, touch to focus, then back to camcorder. Worked sufficiently well for my needs, but it really sucks that I lost out on the performances I filmed before I tried this.
One poster reports on the thread that flashing the Korean radio seemed to fix this. I had earlier installed Paul's pre-rooted FRG33 ROM and this included a radio update which is now still on my phone after reverting to CM6 (baseband 32.4100.32U_5.08.00.04). Thus my experience is that this was not fixed.
Anyway, has anyone managed a better solution than this workround? Thanks!
Not sure if this fixes your problem but cyan tweeted this earlier today
cyanogen: Just wrote touch-to-focus for the camcorder. Even works while recording. Suck it iPhone

Now if someone would write an in phone editing app :/
hah, nice! Wish I had it a bit earlier but I'll take it.

Shaky video recording

I recently noticed that the videos that I record with my Oneplus3T (by default I record with 1080p 60fps) is shaking, most noticably at the bottom left corner.
Here is an example...
I opened a support ticket at Oneplus and got the standard questions, if my phone was dropped or contact with water or if there was an upgrade on it. As the last one was strange for me, I checked back all my previously recorded videos and the shaking was present even on the very first video that I recorded with 60fps, few days after I received my phone.
My question is if anybody else had similar experience and if this is a known H/W or S/W issue and if there is any workaround to solve it?
Thanks!

Does my phone's warranty cover that?
It depends where you bought it and how long ago you purchased the device, but I'd recommend a factory reset before anything else.
Well, I bought it on oneplus.net and as the phone was released half year ago, the when should not matter... By the way, currently it is running the latest factory image, which was clean flashed, so I guess that qualifies for a factory reset. Anyway, I checked and the very first 60 fps video that I shot a few days after I received the phone, had the same shaking, just did not notice it earlier... I still have to try with a 3rd party camera app, but I thought maybe this might be a general issue with OIS or EIS...
That's a fault. I use mine in 60fps and it's fine.
Update
Just an update... I raised an RMA request at Oneplus and the camera was replaced in warranty, so this was indeed a fault...

Huawei P30 Pro & Huawei P20 Pro - Sending videos on Facebook Messenger problem

Hello,
I paid 990 euros on this Huawei P30 Pro back in June. I am very very disappointed by this phone. It is an awesome and powerful phone but there are these small things that make me regret buying it.
The biggest and annoying issue is when i send videos on facebook messenger to my friends. Randomly, sometimes, after the video is uploaded and sent to my friend , let's say a 20 seconds video, i can see it and play it totally normal, but the other party( my friend or the people from the group) will see the video as it is 0:01 seconds long and if they press play on the video..the image moves for 1 second, but after this, the image gets stuck and the video continues until it reaches 20 seconds.
Yesterday, a friend with a Huawei P20 Pro sent me a 40 seconds long video and guess what. After 00:33 the image stuck and the audio continued for 7 more seconds.
This is definitely a problem and Huawei should work together with Facebook App developers and fix the issue.
Also, if i uploaded stories on facebook, the resolution is bad. It looks like the videos were recorded using an 6 years old phone.
In this thread you can see more people that are having this issue. FACTORY RESET DOESN'T FIX THE ISSUE !

I am very, very dissapointed by this phone.
I tried clearing the cache of the app, wiping the cache partition, nothing seems to fix the issue.
I complained to Facebook and to Facebook Messenger ( no answer so far), huawei does nothing to fix the issue.
After the software update from August, Wi-Fi Calling is not working on my phone anymore.
So, besides the fact that i don't recommend to anyone to buy this phone, does someone have any ideea how can i fix this issue?
Using messenger lite works totally perfect but Messenger Lite ruins the quality of audio/video of the video clip.

What makes you say that these problem are definitely with Huawei?
Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Because for the past 1 month i ve been looking on google for this..and the only thread i found with this problem is from Huawei phone owners
Hello,
I managed to fix the issue 1 week ago and i've been testing it since then and all is OK.
What you have to do is download an apk for facebook messenger from JUNE 2019 and all will be OK.
The issue is caused by the App itself and not by the Huawei Phone.
Make sure that after you install messenger version of June 2019 you will select MANUAL UPDATE in the play STORE so the APP won't auto-update.

What day in June is the APK you're using from? There were a few updates in June 2019. Or maybe, can you just tell us specifically what version. For example, June 1st is 216.0.0.20.114 (155388644) . I noticed this problem before June 2019, so do you think something in 1 of the June updates fixed it then a subsequent update broke it? I definitely think it's a Huawei problem because I have no issues with a Samsung s8 and S10.
Thanks
Same problem here

Hi, I have the same problem with Huawei P20. Did you fix the problem? How did you do? Thanks.

Night shots and Astrophotography Pictures disappearing

Is anyone else running into this issue? The problem started last night, and it happened first on the September update, so I don't think much about it, kinda pissed, sat outside in the cold taking 4 minute pictures that looked awesome just to have them not save to the device. But the problem still persists after updating to the November update.
When I take the picture, I can click the thumb nail immediately after taking the shot, and once the thumb nail pulls up the phone says that it is processing, than just vanishes the photo as if was never taken and pops the previous photo in my camera roll into the thumb nail. This happens with night shots, Astrophotography shots, and selfi night shots. Basically anything using the night shot software is not saving to the phone. I randomly have gotten two photos to save, and I am assuming that is purely luck, as I tried taking at least 100 now while trouble shooting.
Some basic info. I'm on the pixel 4 xl, unlocked (not a carrier device) I'm currently rooted, but had no issues with this last week while being rooted. I have tried clearing the data and force stopping the camera app and also the photos app, and no change. To try everything possible, I even hid root from all Google apps with magisk, and still nothing. My current build is QD1A.190821.014 (TMobile service)
Anyone else having this issue I would be fascinated to hear about it. And of course if you have an idea about how to fix this nonsense that would be awesome. Thanks in advance.
Well figured it out, the November 5th update appears to be the problem.
Down graded to the October 25th release: Google Camera 7.2.011.276470382, andy night shots are now saving to my device.
The November 5th update is one that was giving me issues, it's version: Google Camera 7.2.014.278150624

Interesting, my camera version didn't change when I upgraded to the nov security patch. It was and still is 7.2.011.276470382
Just found the new version on APK mirror, gonna install and test it out and see if I have those same issues.
*Just tested every mode, with and without DNG. Everything saves fine for me. I'm not rooted if that matters. Maybe something with magisk is screwing it up.
Well I thought I fixed my issue, but it started back up. I thought maybe it was the kernel I was running so I went back to stock, and for some reason I am having the same issues. So weird, not sure how this could be only happening to me, it's hard to believe that I have a hardware issue.
I had a similar issue once with motion photos. Do this, take a photo that you expect to disappear and view it immediately after you take it, then verify the date is correct in the file name and EXIF data.

main camera blurr

Hi,
After the first 2020 ota update the camera started to get blurred and now is completely useless.
So i looked at the changelog and the update "fixed" something related to QRcode reading. So they must have messed something up.
Anyone knows anything about it?
Model: ZE620KL 128gb rom, updated to latest firmware, rooted with magisk and with twrp.
Thanks.
Additionally, wide camera works fine so far. But still it is strange that sometimes the main camera works and right after few minutes it gets all blurr again.
Hello, I have the same problem. It looks like the update killed a part of the camera. Your OIS is broken now. You can either replace your camera (around $10) or, as I did it, you can try to tap on the camera module. It may fix it temporary. A little bump could also work.
I am having a similar issue. Autofocus works fine for images close to the camera. Seems to be related to the QR code update mentioned by @Gyplay.
My phone has been serviced 3 times during warranty (free). It just died 20 days after receiving it. Then, around its 4th month of life it stopped holding charge. Around it's 10th month it just died again. No falls, not a single scratch and no liquid spills...
Now I have been living with this issue with the camera for almost a year...
Never had issues with any of my previous phones...
Perhaps I was unlucky, but will never buy an asus phone again.
