Just got my S21 a couple of days ago. Nice!
However I also bought a "Galaxy S21 5G Antimicrobial Clear View Cover" (item no EF-ZG991CBEGEW). It worked fine for 2 days, but suddenly it stopped working. Now, when I close the cover, the display doesn't turn off and it doesn't display the time/alerts in the cover's window.
Contacted Samsung but only got the standard "reset the phone" answer. Any ideas how to resolve the problem? I thought it was a magnet in the cover telling the phone that it should recognize the cover. Or is it NFC? Anyway, nothing helps - restarted the phone, turned NFC on and off, removed the cover etc. Nothing helps.

I have the same problem with a S21 Ultra. Already reseted the phone and did all that (turning on/off NFC, AOD, etc). Did you find a solution?

I have this setting turned off. It's been off since the day I got the phone in the mail but suddenly I'm starting to see the floating icon pop up. It's random. It doesn't happen when I pull the S-Pen out but I'll just have my S-Pen sitting next to my phone (outside the phone) on my office desk like I usually do, then I'll start using an app and suddenly I see the floating icon pop its head. I'll touch it then touch away from it on the screen and it disappears.
But it's randomly reappearing. Different apps, different times during the day. I've restarted the phone and clean cache here and there and it still doing it. So weird. Has anyone else seen this on their phone?
EDIT: I attached a pic I just now took with my S8 Plus to show you what I'm talking about. I'm in the S-Pen settings and you can clearly see the option for the floating icon is set to OFF yet it's still there on the side and you can see my S-Pen chilling next to the phone on my desk. I touched the icon, then touched away from the screen and it disappeared. I locked the screen, waited a few seconds, turned the screen back on and the floating icon reappeared.
Something is funky. I have no idea what's causing this.
I have a cheap Chinese-made leather case with poorly placed magnets that causes this behavior. It became so annoying that I stopped using the case (and the problem went away). Perhaps your problem may be a nearby magnetic field too.
I think the Note 8 is having some teething problems. I want that icon on my front page and have it turned on in the settings but it only shows when it feels like it? I suspect Samsung will address this situation when it updates the Note 8?

I factory reset my phone to wipe all personal data and make it as new again. But as soon as it turned on again, It displayed the Huawei logo as always, then the logo of my carrier, and then got stuck in this weird screen (see photo) where nothing i press or swipe will give any reaction.
Tried the hard reset by pressing up and down volume and power at the same time. A different screen appeared for a second mentioning EMUI and below Installing update 5% and then suddenly an error appeared (see second photo).
Please dear experts here, let me know what is going on... I love this phone and was very happy with it until I decided to the factory reset which on other phones always helped me get original performance back.
EDIT: well this forum wont let me post links as a new member, i guess that includes images. so let me try like this

hope that works
No idea why but it's showing the smart cover lock screen when its supposed to only show with a Huawei P9 smart cover that is closed on the screen.
oh so you're saying it's showing the screen as if there was a cover on it? that would make so much sense because i've had the display replaced just a day before... so maybe they didnt do it right and now the phone has some pressure on the LCD and thinks it's a cover?
Yes, exactly as you said, it is thinking the phone has a smart cover on it.
How the smart cover works is phones is that they have a magnet on the smart cover that where if you were to put a magnet at the exact spot on the screen it will trigger the hall effect sensor (The spot where the phone would be told that the smart cover is closed).
Yeah sounds like something went wrong with the screen replacement but it's rather rare for this to happen as it would require an magnet to trigger the smart cover sensor.
so weird... i hope they can fix that issue it's still not working but i will bring it back today. thanks for explaining how the smart cover works!
do you know by any chance on which part of the screen those triggers are? or that trigger magnet, if there's only one?

did you manage to resolve the issue? i currently have this problem
smart cover works with magnet. One of the quick fixes is to take a magnet and pass it over the screen. As i believe because im working for huawei they send us some devices and seems like the microphone or the speaker was moved. Those two have magnet and so it conflicts with the smart cover. Try as i said to pass a magnet from the screen and see if that would fix it. I am going to highlight That, This is happening due a hit, drop or misplaced speaker or microphone.

then you are going to have a factory repair because its either the mic or the speaker in a bad position and its activating the smart cover since both of them have a magnet in order to work.
So I have been using the genuine Samsung clear view case for some time now and have never had an issue with it until now.
All of a sudden the phone does not react when the flip case is opened or closed, before it would change/hide the screen to reveal a clock + notifications whenever it was closed. Now the display seems to be always on an unaffected by the flip case being closed.
I assume this will also have an affect on being able to accept/reject calls with the case closed etc.
Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue and/or tell me what is causing it?
Thanks in advance!
Hello All,
I've recently acquired a case for my Note 8. I'm not much of a case fan but I figured I'll take the plunge as the phone is too precious. I got a normal (fake) leather book type case.
Thing is, every time the phone is in the case, it for some reason acts like the pen has been taken out. When I pop it in, the screen off memo appears (Despite S Pen being still inside) and the Air Command icon stays on screen (I've now disabled that in the settings). Yet whenever the phone is out of the case, I have no issues with the S Pen.
When I put the phone into the case, I insert the bottom half in first, when the phone is at a fairly acute angle of like 20 degrees, screen off memo appears and the phone thinks the S Pen has been engaged for the duration of the phone being the case. This also happens if I insert the phone top first as well. Yet when I lift the phone back out (This is when the screen off memo appears when I'm putting the phone in), the screen off memo screen just goes off like I just put the pen back in. When the phone is in the case, I can't use the screen off memo either. Quite frustrating.
Is the phone case itself to blame ?

I got rid of the cases with magnets. The fake ones are worse. Try using your SPEN and run lines across the screen in snote or any other writint app.

Hello,
My Huawei P20 Pro got stucked in a mode where displays black screen and only for about 40% of the screen, in the right it displays clock, date and weather. I can be called, the phone is charging but that's all. I had about ~70% battery when this happened. Reboot doesn't resolve the issue.
Any idea?
Thank you!

This sounds as if your P20 Pro is stuck in the mode for a closed flip case with a window (see https://i.ytimg.com/vi/G7sU3yGpRF8/maxresdefault.jpg).
That mode is normally triggered by a magnet located in the lid of the flip cover. Do you maybe happen to have a magnet too close to your P20 Pro?
Thanks
That was the issue. I just took off the case (which is not with flip) but it has a magnet for car. Thank you for your reply.

Go to settings -> Smart assistance and turn off Smart cover
hi, I have this issue. no flip case... n I can't into settings to turn off Smart Cover any ideas?
Anyone managed to fix this? I have the same issue. Tried everything, safe mode, recovery, restarting... I do not want to lose my data, is there a way that I can login and back up my data and then factory reset it? I cannot login because the screen is irresponsive and cant insert the pin for the screenlock, otherwise the screen itself works.

remove gently the back glass without damaging the finger print sensor flex and disconnect the main flex cable which goes from the second board to the main board, and start the phone without connecting the man flex, you will be able to go to settings and turn the slim cover option off
i have done almost everything talked about above on this phone for a week now but the black screen with date and battery percentage cant go off and the phone cant open anything else. its where it stops. what do i do . guys i need help i feel frustrated
Did anyone resolve this issue?I have same problem.however my screen did come back for 10-15 sec back and i manage to do hard reset but now i am stuck on black screen
Maybe too late, I was changing my battery already, then same thing happened to my p20 pro. I tried to use magnets to try unlock to no avail. Anyway read that the hall sensor is just at the upper left of the fingerptint sensor. After replacing the battery, turned it on, smart lock still active. Flipped it backwards, unscrewed the bottom right screws and gave it a few tap or knocks by hand an voila, screen is back to normal. I cant pinpoint the problem was, but thats how i fixed mine
