Interesting... haven't seen it before, too.
I assume that it tries to repair apps ... Maybe wiping app cache and/app data. But I am not quite sure

It does the optimising apps that it usually does after a software update before your phone starts. This just forces it any time.

Installation unsuccessful - Cyanogen 5.0.7

Is anyone else unable to install any apps running Cyanogen 5.0.7? I've tried restarting my phone and reinstalling 5.0.7 (as well as the Google apps)...I don't know what else to do.
Thanks,

Nah, I hate wiping (even though I know it solves lots of problems). I really don't wanna lose all my txts and stuff...I've had too many problems with the Backup app to wipe without hesitation :/

Then don't bother rooting. This is very irritating. MANY people don't wipe then flood here with issues that are solved with an easy wipe. Get titanium backup for all apps + data. Never gave me and many others a problem.

Well my apologies for wanting rooted-Android features while at the same time not wanting to delete all my information. I was simply trying to find a different solution before wiping; I think that's pretty logical. Not trying to start problems, but your reply was pretty rude.

I can't do that because I can't install any apps, even if they're off the Market.
I'll try wiping. Thanks for the replies, guys.

[Q] missing market apps

i had my phone upgraded by a friend to cognition 3.02, which was a bonus after he fixed some settings so the phone could read my sim again. everything works great, but i have run into yet another problem. the app store doesent show me all the apps, and i actually cant find anything i was able to use before, all is shows me is a bunch of apps that have less than 50 downloads. i also sometimes get a message saying that my device might not be compatible with the android market. All i want is to the the market to work properly and not have to bring it back in so my friend has to waste more time toying around with it.
All is appreciated
2 things
Did you back up your android id when on stock?
Did you try this, settings, applications, manage, market, clear data?

I have the same problem after reflashing a ROM tonight. I am in a test market site and all the apps available are all test apps. I tried flashing various ROM's with the same result. I had this happen to me before and it took 24 hours before things returned to normal so I am calling it a night.

Yeah it seems that way. To be honest that should have been your first stop to find the answer as most issues are posted and fixed there. If you flash with odin to the correct firmware then yes it will. What firmware did you have?

[Q] X8 reboots by itself

Hi all,
this is my first post so first of all I want to say how amazing this community is !!
I've installed gingerDX v018 just following the xda instructions and all has gone smoothly.
Anyways, I'm posting 'cause sometimes my x8 reboots by itself, usually during the night (each time I heard the logo animation alert ). I guess the timing is not significant, but it happens quite every night.
Do you have any idea of what could it be?
There is some x8 log I could read from or may I use the terminal emulator app?
P.s. I didn't flash the kernel, so I'm still using the stock K. No overclocking apps (not yet).
Do a full wipe. The GingerDX thread says there's no need to do a full wipe after update, that must have confused you.
if what Chris95X8 said dosnt work then your stuck for a while until someone makes a -all-in-one sorta fix. i used to have this problem and after a while it rebooted itself and it got stuck in a bootloop so do the full wipe as soon as posible imo.
i did a full wipe and now its back to normal. no more auto reboots either now.
if that dosnt work then reinstall the rom.
I thought I did. I mean, after the installation I did a full wipe to avoid reboot looping I experienced during my first time installation.
My installation steps actions:
- installed v018 zip
- installed extra zip
- ran Factory Reset (full wipe) option
- ran Wipe cache partitionoption
- reboot phone
Did I miss any steps?

In the meanwhile this w/e I'll try to disinstall one app at a time, to see if there are some conflict. It has rebooted just 5 minute ago.
i read that u can try to use another memory card for awhile to check if the problem still happening.
i got the same problem too, and i tried using another memory card but it still happens. lastly, i sent it to the shop and the shop send it to the factory and it gonna take 3 weeks until i got my phone back..

ok, some answers show that it is either the rom or battery, they also suggest to have it sent off to have it looked at, see if anything is mucked up or something. sorry if it isnt much but its all i could find so far

Thank you wilbso, sending it off will be my very last resource. Anyway for now I've removed weather widget from the lockscreen and Homescreen, just to exclude any (?) refreshing data problems. Next step will be to install some task killer and so on.
I'll write if anything work it out!
Coverage
How's coverage in your area?
I had frequent reboots on low signal areas (very bad) and the phone tried to connect 3G to check e-mail. Anyway, after each reboot, I cleaned dalvik and cache, and then eventually it went away after moving from CM7 to GingerDX.
I think another possible problem is the ram cuz you said that you dont use task killers so the problem may be the low ram(every gb problem)if you confirm that this is the problem i sugest you should use advanced task killer form market
I don't think it's a ram problem, I suggest a full wipe an pay attention when you restore, do not restore system app or app data, the problem could be there...
crazy x8. Full wipe is the solution for prob in almost cases in x8 using custom roms. Wierd
@Chris_Castro:
2g signal looks stable, 3g poor, but at home I'm using wi-fi. But just to be sure I'll check the force 2G signal option, so we will see.
@X8invisible13:
I had the same idea yesterday, so I've installed Memory Booster - RAM Optimizer, here my ram data:
total memory: ~ 175MB
memory avaiable: ~26MB
and reading here and there they look to be average values. But one of the next tests will be to install the latest gingerDX rom, or some other cool roms and test each app at a time.
@evil_chris:
mmm, I'm quite the noob here, so I don't have any backup data or backup apps. I was playing around with HS/LS, sliders, icons when I experienced first problems, so had no time to deepen backup systems.
But I got what do you mean, so as I said, the next installation will be a naked one.
Last episode happened yesterday morning, I checked the locked screen, w/o unlocking it, and after 20 sec it rebooted. Just after I logged in it rebooted again
Anyways Thanks guys
I Cleaned Dalvik and cache, and removed the overclock and now looks good

Can't turn off wifi toggle

has any one been having any trouble with their wifi on their nexus 6, randomly the wifi toggle will stop working the toggle will be off and it still says "Turning Wi-Fi on..." i've booted into recovery and cleared cache and rebooted the phone and it worked the first time and it's been acting up again and this time clearing the cache isn't working does anyone else have any ideas without doing a factory reset.

maybe try just flashing the system img, then wipe cache's again before booting. if that doesnt work, its may be time for the dreaded fdr.
I've never been into flashing system img & fdr? It's just sad because I had the same issue before also losing signal with my device. Til I got a replacement and the replacement device is starting to act up also.

my only other suggestion would be to re-flash. you could try just the system partition, but if it were me i would just go all in for full clean flash.
im sure Simms will get on me for saying so, but you can just grab wugs toolkit and be done in 20min or so.

I've never flashed before i know from what i hear its really easy for Nexus devices. but i'm just curious what would of caused this like from my first N6 since December and it acts up now in Sept and having the replacement N6 acting up the same way.
Is it rooted with mods or completely stock? If stock, try deleting the saved wireless networks..

these random issues usually come from a corrupt file, either by an update or some other means. its hard to impossible to pinpoint the cause usually.
if you never flashed before, its best to read up on it a bit first. wugs walks you through the steps, from downloading the files, and drivers, to the flashing. its not foolproof, but if you follow the lead of the script, its not hard to figure out.

well i have before but that was so long ago and that was for my MyTouch and HTC Sensation but that was years ago. Now I know things are easier but I've never really been into flashing and the only reason I did back then was for updates and different version of Sense UI but since I've been using Nexus Devices I didn't have a need or desire to actually flash. Pretty much I'm a NOOB!
but I don't see why wouldn't a factory reset fix it. even if it was temp.

clearing the cache is always a good idea, i think i suggested that earlier.
i dont know how to explain well what cache is exactly, its not part of the file system, its more like temp data storage i believe.

Question Broken / missing proximity, brightness and compass sensors.

After I upgraded to the 13 beta, all was well but I'd somehow lost a bunch of my sensors.
Proximity, brightness and compass.
Have already gone back to 12 but the issue remained.
On the 8 pro this was a fault with the persist partion usually affecting the fingerprint sensor, but in my case it's just fine..
There is still a fix for the persist partion on the 8 pro but I haven't gone through it yet, has anyone had a similar issue? So far as I can tell us just me.
*#899# manual test simply shows that the sensors are absent.
Any ideas?
If Developer options is on, try toggling off.
Clear the system cache if that's an option.
Hard reboot.
Factory reset, if that doesn't get reflash 12 again is my guess. Might be something in the HAL interface.

Then that seems pointless. Try in safe mode.
Try the hard reboot (simulates pulling the battery) if you haven't already.
Maybe the flash or the rom were corrupted.
Check cables and PC (check Event Viewer for errors during the flash).
Guess a hardware failure is possible especially since it did it with 2 roms now. Two different corrupted flashes seem unlikely especially with the same hardware issue. My knowledge with flashing Androids and OP are very limited so maybe there's a trick to this...

Seems they're more concerned with the finger print sensor. That won't fix the other sensors.
Or am I missing something?
I am curious I know on latest pixel u can't do this but Samsung u can. Is there a way to clear the system cache( I think that's it)? I think at the boot logo u press power up and down together and then go to cache and wipe. I know previous OnePlus phone did , haven't had a chance to do so on this phone. Maybe that might help? Idk just thinking outloud I guess

My point was they are preoccupied with fingerprints. It seems you need this file with its default settings intact.
Lol, I don't even know if my fingerprint sensors work, never tried them.
