I was looking at refurbished Galaxy Note 8's on eBay and all the sellers list this problem. They have multiple quantities available though so I'm wondering if they just list this to cover themselves in case it has it or do literally all of them have this issue? I have the S8 and I know it has the same type of screen, but I've never had an issue. Is LCD burn also a common problem for the S8 and S8+?
I have my note 8 since Nov 22 2017, and it does not show any burns, shadows or abnormal tint/color anywhere, FYI, it is a LED panel, not LCD

I was wondering the same thing.
Anyway, on topic: I've had mine since about April 2018, which isn't as long as some others, but I also have no discernible burn-in. An issue I do have, however, is that my screen scratches incredibly easily. I have a couple of really bad scratches and some deep ones and I don't do anything funny with my device. It's either laying face-up on the desk or it's in my pocket. Some of the scratches has weird shapes to them that I can't figure out where they even came from or how. Other than that, no other issues or problems. Screen is still clear and very pretty and no strange artefacts.
Screen Burn-In is not really an issue, unless you are gaming or textings for really long periods of time. Or have a picture displayed on your device for over 2 hours.
I have massive amount of burn in of the whole keyboard, and the top of the screen. Irritates me to no end, I have reversed my colors of my keyboard but I doubt that will help
I see a really varying experiences about this issue, it reminds me about another issue with the sides peeling off, some posted very bad peeled sides, specially on black models, in the end I think these occurences might be batch-related, or pure and simple bad luck, my note, as many, many others
is more than a year old and happily does not have any problem whatsoever

That does sound weird haha.
As far as the peeling, when I first got my Note 8, I could feel an unevenness on the sides. Turns out that there was a thin plastic film just like there was on the top and bottom when it came out of the box. I just peeled it off. Is that what you were talking about? I just assumed it was put on at the factory before it was boxed up as like the protective plastic on the screen and back. Was I wrong to peel it off? It didnt seem to affect the finish at all and shortly after that, I put the phone in a case anyway...
The units suffering the peeling problem showed a different color where the peelings occurred,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/peeling-paint-t3689436
my note 8 did not have protective films at the sides, just front and back, and no peelings anywhere so far

Interesting. Thanks for the link. The more I look in the XDA forums, the more I am second guessing my choice on getting this phone. Between the screen burn, the peeling paint, the charging port burning out, mysterious cracks in the screen, etc... I am wondering if I should have done a little more research. So far, knock on wood, this first month has been trouble free and hopefully it stays that way.
And as far as the protective plastic film on the sides, maybe it is a recent change that Samsung is doing? I honestly couldn't see it but could feel it and when I peeled it off, it was perfectly cut out to go around the buttons. One of the posts in the link you provided mentioned a protective film over the colored back glass to provide a better visual look. Maybe that's what I discovered on the side and was supposed to leave it on but I couldn't stand the uneven feel of it before I got the case.

hello to all guys, I'm Italian forgive me the translation, I want to ask you kindly advice ... I have applied this new technology of liquid film, https://www.nanomass.com/en/technology after a week just take the phone in hand and with the thumb release the screen on some areas of the screen I feel like a light trac as you were disconnecting something, now I called the assistance of the film and they told me that surely will be the screen of the note 9 defective, because this product does not create any thickness, but on the site I see that it creates a thickness of 0.0004 m of nano particle actually not known anything that moves, and the trac feels right on the surface, the feeling is that when you press on a tempered glass when it does not adhere well on the screen, then if I see it again again you do not hear anything, then I'll see you again after some time you hear again, the touch works perfectly, here's the video of the problem, thank you very much

That seems to be normal! It has already been reported here on xda somewhere, also over at Samsung forums as well, user have reported same issues! Please note this is my theory I’m just guessing as the home button is pressure sensitive. it the same at where you pressing it don’t affect use does it ? If it really does your head in ? Get a glass screen protector problem solved…
thank you, in your opinion it is not a defect of the phone screen, but of the liquid (film) screen protector?
did you listen to the screen noise in the video?

IMO most people do not need a screen protector and if you do a full case type is best. Between static and smudging none (3) I tried stayed on more than a month! Just train yourself not to put keys in the same pocket/purse

Hello everybody in an effort to continually improve. I have come up with some design improvements. Some of the items addressed were preventing snagging in pockets, and reducing the webbing thickness by 0.1 mm
Just ordered mine today! Thanks.
Hey everyone. 3.1 revision is out.
Cheers!
I think I have it set up now on ebay to accept international orders. heads up.
Cheers.

Hard to quantify... I've had reports of it saving the phone from an 8 foot fall onto concrete... The case needed replacing, but the phone was not damaged.
I got this case, i must say tho this really does protect the front screen. I didn't expect that a case is possible for the front screen.
Now, the problem with this case is the material. It's made from hard plastic, if left too long on the phone it unfortunately left a dent mark on the front screen frame.
If another version is made, it should use different, softer material.

Hey there. Would you be able to send me a picture of what you are talking about? I've been using this screen protector since December 2020 and have not experienced that problem.
The plastic case should not dent body or front screen of the phone. I would think only an impact would do something like that.
In other news... I am working on the Prototype with a different material.

Hello,
I need some help from the xda community.
Just recently bought S21 Ultra, but I have an issue while using S pen with any application that has push sensitivity recognition just in one spot.
For example 'Infinite painter' or 'art flow' with sensitivity brush like 6B pencil.
I'm not completely sure that it is hardware (display) issue of this phone or all S21 Ultra have this issue.
I want to ask someone to try it either to confirm or deny. If it is the issue of this particular phone, I still have some time to change the device.
Thanks for your help!

Okay well in that case I would say a faulty digitizer, I guess you should get it replaced ( under warranty )
I've seen many users having a similar issue which was triggered by a magnetic case thats why I asked about it ;-)

yeah, I've googled this issue, I know about magnets. But it looks like there is something underneath the screen that produces some magnetic interference. And it works with very big pressure... I was just wondering if everybody has this issue and just don't care\know, or it is just me. That's why I've asked somebody to test it.

So, as I understand - you did try S-pen with any application that support sensitivity recognition in this area and it works? The general notepad or any other application that is just for writing works in this area of the screen. The problem is only with push-level recognition.
How do I enable the pressure sensitivity?
Here is what I achieved on my S21 Ultra (snapdragon, USA t-mobile variant) using an older s-pen taken from an older note. But when I used different pressure, the Infinite Painter app acted like the pen was either on or off, but no gradients in between. Like I dragged the pen across the screen and pushed harder and softer, but the result was just no ink when too soft, and pure black when hard enough or harder. Nothing in between. Is this because my s-pen is too old, or did I need to turn on a setting in the phone or the app? I selected the 6B pencil in the app.

I don't have infinite painter or any other painting app, but I tried my S pen on Samsung notes and there doesn't seem to be any irregular spots on the screen. Both tracing and pressure work on all parts of the screen as far as I can tell. I used my Tab S7's included S-Pen.

Thank you! Now I'm wondering if it is S-pen issue. Just noticed that if I hold the pen almost completely 90 degree to the screen, it just works fine on this spot.
Hi!
Just got my Oneplus 10 Pro and noticed by accident that when I press a little bit harder than normal in the middle of the screen around the fingerprint sensor area the screen flexes a bit, I can feel how the screen flexes in and out with my thumbs.
Is this normal?

Mine does not.. Get the phone out of it's case and try again, I can't feel any flex, I've removed my screen protector too. Screen is easily strong enough to live without one.

Thanks for the reply, the flex I am talking about is that when I press the middle of the screen in the area around the fingerprint sensor I can feel the screen going in and then pop out again, like there is no adhesive in that area or that the construction is "hollow" The screen is rigid with no flex in all other areas but this area.
Yea that definitely doesn't sound right to me.
Send it back.
You could apply pressure and heat but honestly why should you? You could break the screen doing so... Send it back I'd say buddy
Here is a video of the issue, you can hear a slight popping noise when it flexes.

Just an update. Got the phone back from service from Oneplus in Poland last week and they fixed the issue, the phone also arrived back in perfect condition. So I am superhappy! Glad I sent it because it clearly was not normal. Now the screen is perfectly sturdy and does not flex at all. Thanks for the advice!
