Hi,
I have a big issue with my Mi 5 right now. Can anyone help me with this please? The fastboot seems to be broken. These are symptoms:
1. I connected my phone to the computer, with USB debugging turned on, in normal mode, open adb command promp, I typed adb devices, adb recognize the phone, then I type adb reboot bootloader to reboot the phone to bootloader, it works, the phone goes to fastboot mode, and I type adb devices, adb does not recognize the phone. Therefore I can't install TWRP. I fell something not right at this moment.
2. I can't use MiFlash to flash my phone anymore. I plugged the phone in, with USB debugging turned on, in fastboot mode. The latest MiFlash can recognize my phone but when I flash the 7.4 global ROM, it just run something, but does not have any effect on the phone. The phone restarts, nothing changes. I tried the older MiFlash, and this one does not recognize my phone.
3. I can't update the phone through OTA or the xiaomi updater with downloaded ROM from official xiaomi. It says something not right. There's only a circle appear, the phone restart, and nothing changes.
4. I can't reset the phone to factory using the reset function in setting. There's only a circle appear, the phone restart, and nothing changes.
My phone is running global ROM 8.0.2.0 Stable from xiaomi. The previous ROM I flash is Resurrection Remix Rom. I used MiFlash to flash back to the 8.0.2.0 Rom. The phone has never been rooted. Everything is running well on my phone. Except that fastboot. I am using windows 10 anniversary. ADB is installed. I tried on windows 7 on my laptop, it has the same problem.
These are some methods on the internet I did try but nothing changes. Please help me. Thank you so much
On fastboot mode you should use fastboot command, not adb. Did you flash it via edl mode?

Maybe you are on newer firmware where edl mode is locked. You can try update via Chinese mi pc suite or unlock your bootloader then flash via fastboot

I see...
Btw I already unlocked the bootloader.
Is it possible to flash official FW via fastboot? If so, would u mind telling me how?

Yes it's possible and safest way to flash via fastboot. You can use miflash for that, I'm sure there is some tutorial on this forum or If you cant find it then go to miui forum

Hello I have a Mi A2 with ONE.
I tried to install Mi6X following this guide:
Guide
I got to step 9:
9- Click Refresh on Mi Flash Then choose Clean all and click flash
Then I got this error:
Error oem edl miflash tool, ACK count don't match
Then I tryed instead to install Jasmine again, and I started getting this error:
Cannot receive hello packet,MiFlash is trying to reset status
And then I was stupid enough to unplug my phone
THE ACTUAL PROBLEM (rigth now)
1. My phone will start, then stay at Mi(mi.com) logo indefinitely.
2. I can't enter download mode, Vol + and power will bring me the Mi logo again and again.
3. Can enter Fastboot mode... BUT...
-Mi flash don't detect it
-miflash_unlock don't detect it
-edl.cmd, unlock auto, and unlock critical say "< waiting for device >"
Edit: I solved the problem using test point to enter EDL mode, then It connected and I could flash it.
our phones (mia2) are weird devices to be honest, mine was recently bricked after choosing the "reboot to bootloader" option in twrp. id recommend you to go to mi service center if your phone is still in warranty

That would be my first solution, but my Mi A2 is not in warranty anymore...

Sorry, can you help me unsderstand a little.
I found this guide:
Guide
But none of my Roms (Jasmine or Wayne) have a file that's named payload.bin
I feel like I am missing something
Edit:
I found that ota updates are the ones with the payload.bin file followed the guide and everything, but fastboot bring almost the same error that EDL brings:
< Waiting for any device >
Can it be that my cable somehow magically from one conection to another stoped working or something? I asked a friend for his cable... Cs are not as common in this country yet.

I followed this guide to unlock bootloader previous to the guide on flashing of the first post:
GUIDE
The .bat that you run there actually executes "fastboot oem unlock". I did that part without any problem, the phone screen asked for confirmation and everything fine. After succefully unlocking bootloader I followed the guide on flashing Miui 10.
Now even that "fastboot oem unlock" will show this message:

I had the same issues like you months ago. The only solution you buy a pentalobe 0.8mm for iphone, a small philips screw driver, and a tweezer. Flash your phone in EDL mode. You need to contact 2 pins. You can search the location of the pins, how to disassemble the phone by googling it. then just flash Mi A2 stock ROM first, then convert it to Mi 6X again. I

Where can I take a look at this? I am really interested.
The cable wasn't the issue, I am getting the tools to open it tonight.
I unlocked my redmi 4 (Santoni) boot loader and flashed pixel experience ROM (https://mega.nz/#F!INZgnAZI!9fuWhfCuazOO5YPBjxGlmA). It was working fine for a few days (Small heating issue was there). Then one day while i was charging the phone the phone turned off and never turn back on. When i try to switch on the mi logo flashes for a split second and then turns off. I tried to get into recovery but couldn't.
I can get into fastboot mode. I tried flashing the phone using Mi flash tool and fastboot rom. But it shows an error "flash tz error". When i tried an old version of mi flash tool i get the "Unspecified error (0x80004005: FAILED (remote: Critical partition flashing is not allowed))

I had the same exact problem, i put my phone on charge & when i came back to check it was switched off. It wouldn't turn on except the mi logo. I tried to flash through fastboot turns out my bootloader was re-locked for some reason. I had to re-unlock it then proceed on to fash fastboot miui rom. Check if your bootloader is locked or not.

This is a good idea! Probably u first try to install trwp in fastboot mode. If this doesn't work try to unlock bootloader again and then install trwp.
When all these Option doesn't work u still can open the phone and use edl fastboot mode to flash miui again.

Tried unlocking boot loader and was not successful because the phone was bricked. My only option was to use edl test point. Now i installed miui 11. (Aprart from some minor bugs which can be eliminated by reflashing some other roms) Thank you guys. Now my phone is successfully unbricked.
For somebody who is having the same issues,
My phone (Redmi 4_Santoni) was completely bricked. The only thing i can access was fastboot by pressing the volume down + Power button combination. But i could not install twrp or any other recovery because my boot loader was locked. I got it fixed completely with the help of you guys (Thanks again) and i want to share the procedure i went through.
Condition: Completely bricked with only fastboot access, Locked bootloader.
I tried this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j27x5iJSS40) but failed because i could not access recovery. So my only solution was to use edl test point flashing. I followed this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74818435&postcount=3. It was very easy to do. But in the device manager (Press Windows key + R and then type devmgmt.msc and press enter) instead of showing "Qualcomm HS-USB QDloader 9008", the device is shown as "Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 900E". The problem was you have to plug in in USB cable while the test points is being connected with a pair of tweezers or a paperclip as shown in the link above.
Make sure you already downloaded the latest mi flash tool from here https://xiaomiflashtool.com/ and download fast boot rom from the official website. (Go to https://en.miui.com/ Click rom downloads. Click flashing guide. Download the fastboot rom from there for your device.) Now flash your device using mi flash tool and voila. your phone is unbricked.
Thank you guys..
So, I was trying to flash a GSI Custom Rom on my device, I tried fastboot flash super ./system.img, and it didn't work. (fastboot screen)
I couldn't boot into fastbootd, because when I tried fastboot reboot fastboot, twrp appeared, device not recognized by fastboot devices, and touch not working.
So I rebooted into bootloader and tried to flash global rom, so I could get fastbootd but I realized that I could just flash boot.img, so I closed MiFlash before it was flashing super partition (bad idea) and tried to do fastboot flash boot ./boot.img.
It didn't work, so I rebooted it... black screen, stuck in EDL.
Then tried to flash global rom in MiFlash again, saw COM4, but tried to flash anyway. And I got "write time out, maybe device was disconnected."
Tried multiple times, the same message.
Holding Power + Vol Down didn't do anything.
And I need to ask you, is there any way to boot into fastboot and then into twrp or something, without Testpoints, and authorized Xiaomi account?
I don't quite have money, or something to repair.
Thanks.
flash this :https://drive.google.com/file/d/1quyYpwV8IkZxnICZ2PEBXduuarxemlBI/view?usp=sharing, it's an engenering rom which works with edl mode. after the flash let the rom boot and reflash the rom you want.
Got the same error,
it flashed "prog_firehose_ddr.elf"
And then again write time out, maybe device was disconnected.

Hi
I had the same problem with k20 pro
The Emmc was distroyed.
So you need to go to a service center.
Hello, press volume + and power key at the same time when the phone turns on immediately press the volume key - but without releasing the volume + or the power key, this will take you directly to recovery twrp or to fastboot, hopefully we will solve it soon

Hi
I want to flash my Mi 9 Lite by MiFlash v2020.3.14.0 in fastboot mode(Fastboot Update).
My device is unlocked and unroot, I download the latest official tgz ROM and decompress it and run MiFlash and past the ROM address to the MiFlash tool, after refreshing my device is recognized , I click on flash button, but MiFlash tools show me "error:not catch checkpoint (\$fastboot -s.*lock).flash is not done"
Even by going to the configuration menu and removing the text "\$fastboot -s .* lock" from the checkpoint and OK it and then clicking on the flash, the program will quickly show the flash done and show flashing is success, but it is not actually flashed!!!
I have already installed Minimal ADB Fastboot v1.4.3 and device driver, developer options and usb debugging is on.
in CMD I run fastboot devices command and my device is recognized
I even installed TWRP recovery by adb commands
what's the solution?
Why MiFlash does not flash the official ROM and shows error?
How can I flash the official ROM(*.tgz file) in Fastboot?
thanks.

Probably you did something wrong trying to remove that text, you don't need to remove it if your bootloader is unlocked.
You can flash it directly using fastboot commands, or you can flash it through EDL mode too.

Thank you for your answer
My device bootloader is unlocked, I also saw and checked it. I did it both when it was text and when I deleted the text, but in fact nothing happened and my device did not flash and only remained in the same fastboot mode until I restarted it and it started normally.
I even tried the new version of Mi Flash Tool v20210226 and got the same result as before.
I downloaded 3 different versions for mi 9 lite from the official site, https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2, and as I explained, it was.
even I downloaded other regional Roms but the same result...

Mm, Maybe you are trying to use the fastboot ROM through Mi Flash tool without firstly decompressing it?
You need to decompress first the tar.gz file, you will find inside all the image partitions, the scripts needed.
As you can see in the images in this thread, the files have to be accessible for the tool to can load them https://androidmtk.com/use-xiaomi-mi-flash-tool
This is the simplest way, using Mi Flash tool, you can use it in fastboot (if unlocked) or in EDL mode (no matter locked or not). Take care to not choose the option "relock" device if you don't want to do that.
For the fastboot commands you require to decompress the files and execute simply fastboot flashall -w this will format data and update your device. Sometimes this simple command doesn't work, then you can edit the flashall.bat file, line-by-line, to the scripts being executed.

I decompress first the tar.gz file! I wrote all my actions in post 1 and post 3.
I followed the instructions written on the official Xiaomi page(https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2)
how can I flash the official ROM in fastboot mode or any other mode?
Please write a guide for me. my device is Mi 9 Lite.
thank you.

You can flash through EDL mode the same way as it is in the guide you followed, the main difference is that you have to put your device in EDL mode to perform the operation.
As your device is unlocked you can put it in EDL mode without the need to disassemble the back cover, either using fastboot oem edl or from a device off, pressing both volume buttons at the same time that you connect to the PC, firstly open Windows device manager and check that it is listed as Qualcomm 9008-USB, you need to install this https://www.getdroidtips.com/download-qualcomm-qdloader-hs-usb-driver/
Rom should be unzipped on desktop. Not inside a faulder.... If you unzipped it inside faulder error will come up

The folder can be placed in any side, even I always have my tool installed in the main drive (C) and the Miui ROM in another partition (D) you have to suppress all the spaces in the names and lastly browse where the images' directory is, not inside but where it is the images directory and the scripts.
What about EDL, did you achieve to get it? Upload some screenshot, from the browser files and from the error you are getting, I'm sure it's easy to fix it, maybe you are missing something.

I tried everything and the same error was shown!
I did not try the EDL method because I am not a professional user and I want to use safe, common and easy methods.

Don't use "Clean all & Lock" at least till you solve it.
EDL method is simple to use if you have your bootloader unlocked (this is one of the reasons why you don't have to lock it right now).
To use the EDL method you just have to power off completely, then while you connect the device to the PC press both volume buttons.
Before install the Qualcomm 9008 USB drivers.
