My SM-A715F/DS shows the Phone number as 'Unknown' - (Settings > About phone.
Is there a way to enter the correct number? Android 11
Long time ago, it was possible to do this on a Blackberry phone.
You can by using a 3rd party tool known as a sim card writer(wich i don't know if its legal), or you can call your carrier to add it for you.

Hi ,
I am a newbie to Tytn 2 and hence this basic question...
Credit (talktime) refills are sold as cards with 10 digit pin number and you have to diall *155* (then the pin no)# and then press OK ( the green phone button on the left side of the key pad).
But i cant get this number with my tytn 2...any number starting with * is not dialed
What do i do....i am sure there is way around this...!!
i cannot use any number starting with * with tytn 2 wheeras it is so eay with Nokia phones
How do you dial *163# which is auto balance enquiry number.
strange but true....
Hmm, I can do the *xxx# numbers fine... It doesn't "dial" but makes a service request to the provider, just like all other phones...
Problem solved..
I went to Start > settings > Connections > Connection setup
it automatically udates settings from the network provider and then you have to restart the phone.
Checked the balance using *166# and works fine.
Cheers
I use a SIM card of One SIM multi number;
When I used the number of China Mobile, the number of SMS center is +8613800100000 or etc. It's OK, but when I used the number of Indonesia TELKOMSEL. The SMS center number is +6281100000, but in the phone settings what I can get is +6281100000151515, and the every time after I witch the phone off and on, the number will change to the wrong number.
I am not sure it's only the problem of My Multi number SIM card, or someone had the same problems?
the systems I used include WM6.1 WM6.5. every version of ROM has the same problem.
I am about to receive a locked (tmobile) g1 off of ebay. I am on Vodafone so obviously will need to unlock the device.
The question is: Can I get to the IMEI number on the phone without having a t-mobile sim or will the device just not get any further than a start up screen without a t-mobile sim card?
you should be able to get through the setup process without a SIM card in the phone. Once inside you can find the IMEI number by pressing Menu > Settings > About Phone > Status >
Hope you enjoy your new phone.

Otherwise, the IMEI is on a sticker under the battery.
How can I have a unlocked PIN code? Thanks.
you are probabaly gonna have to do what I am going to have to do - get an unlock code for 16 quid from www.unlock-tmobileg1.com
and cross ur fingers of course
I am using a pre-paid sim card. Under Settings->About phone->Status, why "My phone number" is "unknown"? I am on GB. I asked people at the Samsung Store and another retail store. Nobody could answer why my phone number is listed as unknown. Anybody knows the reason and how to fix the problem? Thanks.
Common Android issue with Sim cards. Try looking in the play store and look for "my phone number." That might help

It just means your number hadn't been imputed correctly on your Sim. It doesn't affect performance, recruit with a few apps.

Is there a way to enter that info without installing an app?

Hola! Well it seems that the problem is that your number is "Unknown", the Ist Solution is to call your service provider and speak to the tech support for the PDA / Smartphone. Tell them you need a OTA ( Over The Air ) Update to have your Sim card programmed with your Cell Phone Number. They will send the update to your phone with in 24 hours it will be either a silent update or a text message update.
It should be somewhat in "X-XXX-XXX-XXXX" format if you are in US.
IInd solution: Put the SIM in Iphone and edit my number.
IIIrd solution: If SIM is too old then go for a new replacement of the same. They will give you updated SIM mostly free or for very cheap price. The new SIMs usally are updated for smartphones/PDAs.
Good Luck!
I know this is a late reply but here is the steps that i took to fix this issue on my Galaxy S.
Open Phone (Dial pad) hit menu > settings > Additional configs. > tap My phone number.
The phone will read current network configuration and will pop up a box for you to enter your number +1234567890
Thats it.
Hope it helps.

I recently lost my cellphone but good thinhg is, I installed the mobiucare which is a phone locator. I want to send a command but they change the phone mumber. There's this feature about mobiucare that will notify me when sim card is changed but it just send me a sim card number, not a phone number. Is there a way to decrypt this?

First of all, I know nothing about this specific app, mobiucare. If it is so that you may somehow command this app to sms you or make a call to you then you should get the number.
What info you got is probably IMSI? These do not contain the phone number itself, phone number is assigned by the network operator equipment. You can probably find out network operator company that issued this SIM from the number.
Your best bet will be to let your local police know this I suppose. They shall contact network operators and will find out the phone by IMEI or by this SIM information you have.

"android lost" is an app u can pusb to your phone from your google account assuming your phone was logged into your google account

Install the app cerberus to track down the phone when it is stolen or lost
