If I try to unlock the bootloader using the official app, its showing me 168 days. Can somebody suggest a definitive guide to unlock OEM bootloader. This is the worst thing xiaomi has done. I tried to follow some videos on youtube, nothing works.

You just have to simply wait this 7 full days (168h).
This is the safest method. Just wait.
No other solutions.

The so-called mod tools never worked for instant unlock, so it's better to wait for 7 days to safely unlock using official unlock tool. Worst thing xiaomi has done you say??? What if bootloader is not at all allowed to unlock like other OEMs? Wait period is for benefit of users in my opinion. Think about it
After bl unlocked, will we still have warranty?
Yes, until you install any custom ROM.

Agree with other members. I know it is irritating to wait for a week but it is a necessary thing.(Mine is just 3 hours away, it gets impatient, I know...)
Also we get warranty support even when the bootloader is unlocked, so I would say Xiaomi is sooo much better.
IMHO, the only worst thing Xiaomi did for SweetIn is non availability of 64GB/6GB variant. But just my opinion, sorry to spam.
I am using oneplus. I used google pixel earlier. OEM unlock is just one command away. But thanks all, I will plan to unlock using proper tool.

There's one hack if you want any specific driver. Use the mi flash tool. It usually installs the drivers required (which is also what you require I presume) before the flashing process. All you need to do in download the mi flash tool and open it, and then it'll ask to download the drivers.
PS. Not sure if mi unlock tool has the same as well. Worth a try anyway

Any pointers how to 're-lock' bootloader after flashing custom rom (not worried about the data) just want to ensure overzealous apps (work related apps like Intune company portal, Outlook etc work safely - - - - if root/unlock bootloader found it literally reports back to O365 servers and blocks my work account followed by different escalations).

You want to lock bootloader with custom ROM in phone ??
Never.
What you need is Magisk hide and some tweak to hide it from being detected.

There is many threads on this already. The easiest way to unlock is with a paid code (10-20$ US). You must be 100% stock or as close as possible to stock to be able to sim-unlock.

Everything in there is paid. And as a search result commentator I want to say that I dont want to and I won´t pay. I did this for the sprint version which was supposedly the most difficult phone to unlock. Why is it that the GSM version is payable and not the (mostly) CDMA which I know is practically the same phone.?
How can I unlock this POS without giving my money to some A'hole scammer and totally free with the existing HTCONE SimUnlock and some Stock Rooted rom? Thanks...

S-OFF then
use SIEEMPI method like for the HTC amaze.
In some cases, the carrier can also unlock the phone for free.
if you can't s-off, then there is nothing to do, unless you change your mind and pay for a code.
good luck :fingers-crossed:

So I need to s-off then use sieempi, but I'm wondering if I can install Firewater with CM11? The guide I found says I need ARHD because of the unsecured kernel needed to get S-off.

I can't find any info saying that CM11 is also unsecured that allows S-off with Firewater.

That's the error I get when I select SIMLOCK. I used Windows to navigate to the root of the SD card and dropped the Config.dat in there.
I bought a OTG cable and then found out that I need an external drive that's powered so I could flash the config.dat.
Spliced a quick and dirty Y-OTG cable and was able to SIM unlock! Yay

use a Y-OTG cable with a HDD formatted in FAT32
Hey guys, quick conundrum, and I want to make sure I'm taking the right steps.
I purchased an M7 for my dad, but I unlocked the bootloader and installed Slimkat before I typed in my SIM unlock code.
I've read in here that I have to restore the phone to stock.. Do I need to address the S-ON/OFF issue, or can I safely keep it S-ON if I don't intend to return it for service at this time? Will an ARHD based ROM allow me to do the unlock as was mentioned here?
I searched this topic but didn't find an exact answer re: the S status and SIM unlocks.
Didn't want to start a new thread, so I tagged it on here...

I have looked at the steps on Sd Shadow's site about flashing and rooting the phone and have gone so far as to download and install the motorola drivers (signed by microsoft?). The device now shows in device manager as an ADA interface.
I have tried flashing with rsd lite, only to hear several sounds as if the device is reconnecting and see flash failure at 6/18 partition.

see TECHNOLOGY section http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Motorola-DROID-3_id5305

Codes match. I am using Rsd lite v.6.1.5. I remember seeing somewhere that it will work with that carrier. I can't post pictures, but Rsd shows "N/A" for all the device properties, though in the bottom box under model it shows "fastboot CDMA_solana s"
Could this be a driver's issue. Too many extra non Motorola drivers? I installed the remaining network adaptor and modem drivers.

if you are seeing "The phone is subsidy locked. Please contact...",
an incorrect code was entered too many times, and the phone has locked you out.
even if to get the enter code screen again, and have the correct unlock code, I don't think it will work.
Because of the way the phone was locked, every droid 3 has 3 or more possible unlock codes, only one of them will actually work.
there is no point entering the same code more than twice.

Where did you buy the phone from(country!)? Were you able to unlock in the first attempt? If not, what is your waiting time as shown by Mi unlock?

There is a poll attached too. You won't be able to view it in Tapatalk or Xda app. Use chrome or other browser. Vote only if you have tried to unlock the bootloader and not otherwise, so that we get a clear picture of bootloader unlock times.

Hii guys
I am tired of unlocking booloader of redmi pro 6. First it showed 720 hrs then after 15 days it showing again 720 hrs with same account. I have created 3 acc. But all showing same.
Can anybody share old xiaomi accont pls that would be a great help for people like me.
I requested it some days ago, I hope I could get it unlock as soon as the 643 hours end because it seems that Xiaomi doesn't want bootloader unlocking.

That is why I am selly my Moto z droid Verizon because I can't unlock the bootloader and if Xiaomi continue with it then their selling is going to fall down.

Hi, I REALLY need help, I bought a new Note 9 N960F. I was playing around with some ROMS and after I flashed the unofficial Lineage ROM my phone boots forever. I have no way to power off the device, if I could I could just flash a different ROM, but I have a no way to get into recovery mode. Soft resetting my device doesnt help either it just starts the boot again. I own the Exynos model. Someone PLEASE help me!!

the bootloader is looping and not acctualy shutting down. that's why you cant go back in twrp.. well you can but you think that you cant.
either wait till it runs out of battery (once it's dead charge it for 10 mins then go to recovery directly) or if you're quick enough:
hold the combination buttons to shut it down( bxb + vol down + pwr) for about 4 or 5 seconds and switch quickly to the recovery position( bxb + vol up + pwr ) rince and repeat. eventually you'll get the timing right.

Sorry slightly of topic , been a while since owning a sammy, my question on boot up there is a padlock animation that's open does this mean the bootloader is unlocked or the device is network unlocked , tia

The lock icon means your phone is no longer offical. Samsung started doing that on note 4. Most roms or TWRP have this patched. That's what the lock means, not that bootloader is unlocked.

D/L this app from the Google Play Store (Phone INFO) :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo
In the general section, if it says anything but Knox 0x0,you've been sold a previously owned/used phone.
There's also a refurbishment check in the app as well, but, that alone isn't an indication of the real condition, just more information to arm yourself with on a warranty/return claim if it does indicate that the phone has been refurbished.

Good deal.
Then, is there any way you can upload a screen shot or picture of the screen you mentioned?
Not really as its when phone boots up after the Samsung logo it's a black screen with a coloured green/yellow ish padlock that turns I'n animation and it appears to look like a unlocked padlock then phone just starts up normally after 20s or so on that animation , from previous experience going back to older devices it normally means unlocked bootloader but since I've only had phone couple days and not attempted any unlock or modifications I just assumed it mean its factory sim unlocked, tia

I've never seen that before... Perhaps it's carrier specific, or, something that's on some SIM Free phones.
(FWIW, I have a T-Mobile US Note 9 that is SIM Unlocked & I've had both carrier & US Unlocked firmware installed & never saw that animation)
Perhaps someone else can chime in & we'll get back to being on-topic (my apologies to @Synotic. for topic drift).

You might've got Secure Boot turned on? Did the phone ask you to input your passcode before booting up?

once bootloader unlocked can we flash eea rom over an indian device and relock bootloader?
You can but don't lock the bootloader
Will the banking apps like ICICI, Indusind paytm etc work when bootloader is unlocked.? I'm really tempted to unlock it and flash the eu rom
Possibly not while unlocked but not flashed, so just in case, flash the EU ROM as soon as you unlock. One common issue after flashing and installing twrp is that some bank apps see the empty twrp folder and won't install. Just delete the folder, it has nothing in it, from your internal memory before installing your apps.

Okay. Thank you
Of course if you do find you don't like it or have any non resolvable issues, you can flash back stock and lock your bootloader again.

NO, I've literally just installed xiaomi.eu rom 2 days ago, first thing i tested was banking and payment apps with bootloader unlocked, everything is working PERFECT without any issues.
i found a few minor bugs with this rom. but way less than the bugs i found with original global rom. battery have dramatically improved and device is so smooth. Honestly, i didnt expect it to be this good. i'll try it a bit more.
