modem keeps resetting connection - Google Pixel 5 Questions & Answers

Something strange is happening here on my Pixel 5. It looks like the modem keeps resetting. What happens is this: the bars for cellular drops and I get a small x (like it is disconnected), then wifi shuts down. A second or two later, the mobile network comes back, and says 4G besides the bar. A couple of seconds more and wifi reconnects as well.
To me, it looks like the modem is restarting. This happens after a couple of minutes using the phone, and keeps repeating every 5 minutes or so. I have tried to replace the sim card, resetting network settings, restore to factory settings, reflash stock firmware, tried boh April and March updates. Nothing helps.
If I remove the sim card completely, the wifi connection drops and no networks are visible, so I can not connect to anything.
This is the strangest thing...! I am going to try to flash a custom rom, probably proton to see if anything changes.
I suspect that this is a hardware failure, but has anyone seen anything like this? Any more suggestions on things I can try?

I have this exact same issue, did you find a solution?

remembered networks out of range and scan fails

I had this happen twice on rooted stock and now it's happened on cm7.
I believe what triggers it is a failed connect to an open network. Then I got home and couldn't connect to my remembered network and it simply says out of range. And scan won't find any networks.
On rooted nook, I had to remove all remembered networks and then it worked. Scans started working again. Cycling wifi on/off or reboots do not fix it.
I really don't want to remove my remembered networks again and re-add them. Is there a different workaround to this?
edit: hmm I guess it's not the exact same issue as the rooted nook. I let it charge for a bit and now it's finding the networks again. Still like to know what was wrong but it seems to have fixed itself.

[Q] [Sprint] Galaxy Tab WIFI

Last night I updated to the OTA Gingerbread firmware update and have been having WIFI connection issues. I have tried changing the sleep state settings, disabling 3G and performing numerous factory resets. The WIFI connects, disconnects, scans for the router connects and repeats the process ad infinitum. A call to Sprint customer service resulted in "Please take the unit back to the store so the firmware can be DOWNGRADED." It was a very short call and I forgot to ask if there were other people with the same issue, but I am assuming it may be. Could someone else confirm or verify they have or do not have any WIFI problems. This is mostly for my own curiosity but maybe it's something else too.

Worked normal for me on Gingerbread...
Yup, my tab is working flawlessly on wifi. And i spend all day on it (WPA2 enterprise and WPA2-PSK.)
I don't. Try rebooting. Try flashing with Odin back to ea24.
Sounds like your update was corrupted. Try reverting back to ea24 and re-upgrading to gingerbread again. The instructions are all over in the development section. If you take it in it sounds like that is what sprint is going to do for you.
I have experience similar issue before "connects, disconnects, scans for the router connects and repeats the process ad infinitum". At that time, my solution is(suppose the network name is MyWifi) "Wi-Fi settings"->"MyWifi"->Forget.
Then, re-scan this network, re-enter the password etc...
Thanks for all the replies. I had to reflash the rom after a full wipe. Now that there is a rooted version I did the same thing...flashed twice to be sure.

Thanks for the tip, I was having a severe wifi problem after the upgrade and that fixed it right up.

Stock N910T (5.0.1) loses data occasionally.

The status bar says that I have 4G LTE data, but no data connection happens.
I put the phone into airplane mode and then back, then data connection gets restored. This happens maybe once 2-3 days.
Has anyone has gotten this issue? Perhaps custom ROM will resolve this issue or maybe custom Kernel, I have not tried anything yet. Just wondering maybe there is a setting missing.
Thanks.

Note 5 Wifi Turning On/Off Intermittently

Hi,
My Note 5 (SM--N920W) recently started to switch Wifi, on/off intermittently. Sometimes, the Wifi stays on for 15/20 minutes (like when watching youtube) and some time it turns on/off continuously (mostly, when downloading a large file with a continuous stream of data). I can see that in the phone settings, the Wifi button goes grey (to off position automatically) and turns blue automatically & tries to connect to the router, sometimes it stays connected for some minutes and sometimes it's just instantaneous that it goes grey again (Wifi off). This keeps on repeating.
The phone is updated to Android 7 (official ROM) and has been reset and also tried all different settings like turning off location completely, disabling wifi scanning etc but that didn't help. Any idea what could be wrong? Also, the phone is locked to a carrier for which I don't have the sim anymore. I am not sure if running it without sim is causing this wifi issue.
Thanks! Any help is highly appreciated!
If you can try using a different wireless router or network, and see if the issue persists. I had a similar problem awhile back, except it only happened when Bluetooth was on. I ended up buying a new router instead of the one I was using from Comcast, and it resolved the problem! Also I've similar issues with other devices, and editing the build prop and changing ro.securestorage.support=true to false in /system/build.prop might help.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I'll look into secure storage flag, though it looks like this is for the rooted devices, mine does not seem to be rooted (I bought it online, not sure if that was rooted earlier or not).
Another behavior I have noted, that initially the wifi for first few minutes works ok, no drops or switching on/off. But then it starts to go nuts turning on/off continuously. I am not sure if its a hardware issue, that somehow the wifi module gets hot after a few minutes of usage and starts to malfunction. But I have read somewhere on this forum, that the BT & WIFI are on the same module on the motherboard if the BT runs fine (which it does on my Note5), WIFI as far as hardware is concerned should be OK.
I haven't tried any custom ROM (though tried downgrading to Android 6.1 - ROM from sam mobile) but that didn't work. Any idea, which custom ROM is most stable and easy to apply?
Thanks!
If your on a stock unrooted rom, I'd definitely try another router, even if your just connecting to a friend's. If it doesn't occur then, its the router. As far as custom roms, I'm running the Note fan edition port by RadeonMaya, and it works great.

Wifi stops working

After the May update every couple of days I find that my TA-1046 isn't connected to wifi anymore. When going into the wifi settings it can't find any networks. Occasionally it can see one of the neighbor's wifi but usually nothing. (Normally there are 10+ networks in range). Turning wifi off and on does not resolve the issue but after restarting the phone it always works fine again for a couple of days. I would like to think it's not a hardware problem since it consistently works again after a restart but on the other hand I haven't seen anyone else with this issue.
It happened to me once.
happened on me this night...after restart it back to normal
