Hi all,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE G781B/DS that I bought unlocked on ebay. It's a great device, I come from a Xiaomi Mi 10 that was great but MIUI 12 was a desaster and it was not dual sim... the thing is that I need dual SIM for T Mobile in the US and Claro in Peru.
I live in Peru and Claro has the bands 2, 7 and 28.. the first two are very slow and the band 28 is pretty fast with 80mbps average of download.
The problem is that this phone almost ALWAYS chooses the bands 2 and 7, I installed LTE discovery app and I can see that the band 28 is near but it does not connect to it.
What can I do? I also detected that with T Mobile in Miami, the phone selected towers and bands that made the internet very slow.
When I compare the connection with mi M10 and my father's S20 FE Exynos that also support the 28 band, they do connect to it, in the same place at the same time.
Is the phone defective?
Please advise,
Thanks
What is your Mi 10 model number? Just good know exactly what combinations and band it support.
Hi, the model es M2001J2G
Then here is supported bands and combinations listed: https://cacombos.com/device/M2001J2G

Hi guys,
i'm using a Note 8 N9500 128gb in italy, with TIM carrier.
under 4G coverage, the phone rarely show the 4G+ icon in the status bar, but other phones like the older Note 4/Note Edge, shows 4G+ icon in same situation. In my house for example there is full 4G+ coverage with the Note Edge and LG V10 that connected in 4G+, meanwhile Note 8 only shows 4G icon.
with the Note 8 i have saw the 4G+ only a couple of times...
is the Note 8 antenna that bad?
or can it be another kind of problem?
Solved
Sad story....
Note 8 N9500 support all bands used here in Italy, B3, B7 and B20, but only support carrier aggregation with bands B3+B7 and not B3+B20
Hi!
I have also SM-N9500 csc is TGY(HONGKONG)
you can check here
http://www.phonemore.com/compare/pho...-n9500/6303040
it is only Rom problem,
normaly SM-N9500 much more capable from SM-N950FD,
but i think china don't give a permissions for video calling,
and our SM-N9500 has a software barrier for this.
Are there any people will solve this problem?

You are right about CA. 4G+ just means CA is active, 4G is still LTE. Same goes for LTE & LTE+ icons for other variants/CSC which is the equivalent to 4G & 4G+. When I get high speeds I'm usually connected to only one band & CA is inactive, well that's the case for my area anyway.
My N950F originaly had 4G & 4G+ icons. If you use Network Cell Info the app will show you. I'm using TMB CSC now & they don't use seperate icons. The icon is 4G/LTE whether CA is active or not but with Network Cell Info I can see when CA activates.
If you change your CSC to your country or carrier you may get the additional CA combos for your area.

Use Phone INFO or Shortcut Master & try to launch 467 (IMS Settings). Under IMS Service Switch see if you have MMTEL switch, VoLTE, VoLTE-Video etc. Enable them if you do to see if that works.
N9500 snapdragon
Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me out. I've got the imported N9500 256GB dual sim which runs a snapdragon chiset. In South Africa, where I'm from, the local devices are Exynos. The CSC for all these devices are obviously for Exynos chipsets. Here's my question, would it be possible to get my country's CSC for the snapdragon variant? My country code is XFV (VODACOM / VODAFONE) or XFE (UNBRANDED)
The reason I'm asking is because my Note 8 won't ever connect to LTE-A unlike my locally sourced A8 2018. If the above is not possible is there any other way of getting the carrier aggregation to work? Thanks in advance.
Hello All,
I bought galaxy note 9 SM-960U1 (unlocked) from samsung.com . I am on Tmobile and have ahard time with LTE covrage. I was wondering what all LTE bands this model supports. I couldn't find clear information on it. It will be great if i can get information on LTE bands of this model and Tmobile as well.
Thanks

It has all the bands required, including Band 71. However on the U1 Firmware I have had a hard getting to hold the signal. It will roam then drop a weak signal and you'll get a notification that you're no longer connected to the mobile network.
Flashing the U carrier firmware cures the problem, for me at least. The problem was worse for me on the unlocked Pie firmware than on Oreo.
Try this procedure

"Ok. Perhaps your Note 9 is preferring band 12 LTE which is slower and usually more congested if too many people are also connected to it. Your Note 5 may be preferring band 2 or 4 LTE hence an increase in speed. On your Note 9, go to the dialer and type *#0011# 6th line down from the top there should be a number next to "band" what is it? We can also try disabling band 12 by dialing *#2263#, to to LTE band preference > Next page > tap on LTE b12 to deselect it. tap the 3 dot menu button (upper right) tap "back" (repeat) until youi're at the main screen, "apply band configuration". Retest data speeds.
If this doesn't help, then you're likely experiencing congestion in your area. Re-enable band 12 by selecting "apply all bands" and apply."
I had similar issues and tried this and got faster internet speeds. I had to disable band 2. Got this procedure from the internet.
Need help figuring this one out. I just got last week while visiting Illinois a P30 Pro L04 that is from Telcel Mexico. Got it from a coworker that lives in Mexico. It is unlocked and I am using in T-mobile ever since. I live in Puerto Rico where Tmobile has Band 4-66-71 for LTE. My previous phone is an Note 9 that I love and still think is better in some ways that the P30 specially in the software side. The cameras in the P30 are spectacular and step way above the Note 9. Long story short my P30 won't connect to band 66, only band 4. It is supposedly supported but it doesn't connect to it. I put my sim card back in the Note 9 and it does connect to band 66 as it used to. So it is definitively the P30 Pro problem. Does anyone know a way to verify what Bands are supported on the phone and see if it Telcel that blocked the band 66. Or maybe the P30 does NOT support band 66 as claimed? Does anyone has a L04 and can connect to band 66? I am new to Huawei phones and don't know what tool are available to verify this things.
I think you might be seeing 66 on your note, but it still really 4. (4 is a sub frequency of 66)
The 66 you're referring to will specify AWS-3. An app like network cell info on the play store should specify - though will likely only work on the Note assuming it's the snapdragon variant.

Do you care to elaborate a little more so I can fully understand. Yes my note 9 is the snapdragon variant from Tmobile. I am using the Network Cell Info Lite App and it does show connections to LTE bands 2, 4, 66 and 71 on the note. depending on the place I am around my apt or outside. The P30 Pro only show connections to LTE bands 2 and 4 connections. I understand that bands 66 and 4 are related as they are the same frequencies , but still band 66 should give me better speeds and better connection as shall be not as congested., more blocks, etc. The Network Cell Info (at least the lite version) does not give me anything about the AWS of the band.
So my questions for you or anyone else are:
Are you saying that band 66 won't show on the P30 Pro even if it is connected to it?
Do you know of an engineering menu to really verify that the phone support band 66?
One of my main interest and one that may help a lot of people is to establish if the phone really support band 66 as claimed for this variant?
and if it does, does Telcel disable that support?
if they did, maybe with a generic firmware modem we can get it back?
Thanks in advance

I do not currently have a P30 Pro, so can't speak definitively. (Sold my L29 and have an L04 on the way) I asked about the snapdragon variant because these devices are generally the only that will properly break out band information for you to look at.
The answer to your question is a bit convoluted due to the fact that band 66 includes band 4. These are the AWS bands - band 2 is PCS, 3 DCS, etc. Some devices may tell you that you're connected to 66, but you are in fact connected to 4. (see here for a better definition: https://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?gid=570 ) If you look closely here, you will see that band 4 and 66 include the same frequencies, but 4 is specific to blocks A-F and 66 includes blocks A-J. Say, you're connected to block C, your phone could be telling you that you're connected to 4 or 66 - both would be correct, its just how the manufacturer has told the software to relay this information.
What you're wanting to validate is that you're connected to the "new/faster" part of band 66, which will be displayed as AWS3 for AT&T. On the RAW tab within network cell information (on your note) it should have the band info and then corresponding block information. If your Note is reading 66 (AWS13) this will probably show as band 4 on your P30 Pro, as it is technically .. band 4. If you are seeing 66 (AWS3) this means you are genuinely connected to the part of 66 you're after. If you see this on your Note and your P30 Pro is still showing band 4, I would suspect that your theory regarding P30 Pro band 66 support is correct. (aka.. not functioning)
Hope this helps.

Yes it helps a ton. I had to buy the full version of the Network Cell info to get the AWS information, not showing the Lite version.
The note 9 is reading band 66 (AWS13) in Tmobile. With the same simcard and location the P30 reads Band 4(AWS1). So I can't really say if the P30 Pro it is not connecting to band 66. I guess will be good if you give me a follow up once you get your P30 Pro L04 and you happen to be in an area with "real" band 66 support.
Thanks because I am sure this info is good for those that has this variant, or those that want to get one especially if its going to factor into their decision.

For sure. I also bought the L04 variant for B66, so I'm hopeful that this band is indeed active. I will let you know what I find out.
Let me know if you run across AWS3 to validate too.
I've had my L04 P30 pro all over Chicago and St Louis the past few days (in areas I know have b66 coverage) and have yet to see the device pickup it up once.
My only thoughts are that the device only activates b66 once properly provisioned by Telus on their networks, or that AT&T will only tell certain devices to grab the band that they know have proper hardware for. (Internal database of devices, etc) I'm genuinely curious if any Tmobile people are able to pickup the band; generally Tmobile is more lax about these requirements.
Either way, b66 isn't supported on AT&T on my particular L04.

At least in different place in Puerto Rico it is the same, only band 4. I shall be in Chicago area also probably in like a month and in Mexico. Will take my note 9 with me to make sure I am in AWS 3 to see if I get band 66. if not then something is right with the phones having band 66 blocked.
Thanks for the update
Hello Xiaomi community, I am using my Mi 11 ultra(Chinese - yet to flash EU rom) on T-mobile in US. I have a oneplus 8T as well which is connected to the same network. When I test these two mobiles, which are connected to HSDPA right next to each other, I get 40mbps download speeds on Oneplus 8t but only 10mbps on mi 11 ultra. Is mi 11 ultra or MiUi limiting the network bandwidth? Are there any settings that I can adjust to see the same speeds? Both seem to be connected on Band 2. Appreciate any help with this. @olkitu, please comment.

Thank you for the info @avetny . I have checked both the mobiles and here is what I see. Oneplus 8t mostly connected to LTE, and Mi 11 ultra switching between EDGE, HSPA and if I force the setting to NR/LTE only, it shows LTE but can't browse anything and no data connection at all. Am I missing something? Also am sitting right next to the TMobile 4g LTE personal cell booster box with both these mobiles
This is when mi 11 on EDGE n/w
This is when mi 11 on LTE (with 20mbps download speed)
This is oneplus 8t mostly connected to LTE with 60 to 100mbps download speeds
Restart device
When I get into that menu and I change the network type the setting doesn't stick, why?

Tried with various settings few times. Am not sure why the connection stability is low and always switching from EDGE to HSPA to LTE where as oneplus rarely shows me HSDPA. I have a 4G LTE T mobile cell spot sitting right next to me.
In terms of the modem Mi 11 ultra has X60 where as oneplus 8t has X55
Check again settings.
Make sure 5G is preferred.
Make sure 5G Smart Switch is off.
This make help too: 5G battery saver is off.

Well Xiaomi do not support Carrier Aggregation combinations and 5G used in US. Maybe SA only n41 could work but it's by default disabled outside from China.
OnePlus 8T is US model? You should buy device from your own region to avoid issues. As you know you can check on https://cacombos.com website supported bands and carrier aggregation combinations of devices. Make sure it support Carrier Aggregation combinations your carrier use on your area.

Thank you for the response, would flashing a Global ROM gets me all the Band combos? I understand changing the ROM is not going to get me the missing Band 66 from Chinese version phone, but atleast wondering if I flash, the combos listed on Global version would follow? or ROM flashing will not change any Combos? Thank you.

Am trying NetMonster to see which cell tower and band(s) its connecting and if its using any combo bands. Typically the combo shows up like - (4G. LTE 1900+ AWS-A). I have not seen a combo so far on this with the Chinese ROM, but not sure if Global/EU ROM makes any difference. Unless the Global/EU ROM deals with Band Combos. Am yet to boot unlock, so could not do a quick try.
Were you able to get better speeds or use NetMonster to see Combo bands with Non Chinese ROM?

I had great speeds on every ROM but In my city they only use band 78 for 5G and I get about 250-300mb even without line of sight of the antenna, even I'm a restaurant or a mall it's that fast
i haven't been able to spot a 5G tower yet so I can test one in direct line of sight of it but I've read you can get about 700mb/s

Wow, that's crazy speed. Never heard of those kind of speeds in US. I wish the phone manufacturers just let the users decide what bands they want to enable in their region if the phone is high-end latest and greatest

Hi guys, I have the cn version of Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and I enabled 5g preferred in the settings, my friend with an iPhone gets better speeds than me, and we both use a sim from the same company, do you happen to know why he gets Carrier aggregation and I don't? I am also using Xiaomi EU stable custom rom, and it is very annoying that my phone is working slower, much help will be appreciated thank you very much!
The China model has these 5G bands:
5G :n1 / n3 / n28 / n41 / n77 / n78 / n79
Compare these bands with iPhone bands, maybe iPhone has more.
Band support is not everything, good compare Carrier Aggregation and Dual Connectivity combinations and check device support all used by your network.
You can check these via https://cacombos.com website.
