Carsifi Wireless AA - Android Auto General

Edit:
So, I've been using the original Carsifi adapter since June, and it works awesome. It loads up as quickly, if not faster than when I was using a wired connection. They recently redesigned the device, which will much smaller and will work with two phones. They launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the device, and they met their goal in 2 days, plus a LOT more. I DEFINITELY recommend this device, even if it's just to get you by until your AAWireless adapter gets delivered. You won't be disappointed. Their support is amazing too. My adapter didn't work at first, but they worked with me daily (seriously) to get it to work with my car, and they got it figured out fairly quickly. They also refunded my money immediately when it didn't work, even though they continued to work with me to fix it. I don't typically hype a company or product up this much, but I'm really impressed with these guys. Check them out, give them a chance, you won't regret it.
PS: I am in no way affiliated with Carsifi outside of being a tester for Audi MMI (just to get it to work).

OP:
So, a couple weeks ago I was looking for a wireless solution for AA while I wait for my AAWireless unit to come (got pushed back a bit). I came across Carsifi. It looks like it's pretty much the same thing, but I'm not sure how legit it is. Has anyone else checked this out? It's ready to ship now, and if it does work I'm going to get one so I have something to use until my AAWireless device comes.

I don't see anything that says it is ready to ship now, in fact all I see is the button that says "Pre-Order Now". When I hit the button, it simply asked for my email so that they could notify me when it was ready for sale. I think your best bet is just wait for your AAWireless. I have one of mine already and love it, well worth the wait! @Emil Borconi has done a GREAT job with this!

I did the email thing a couple weeks ago. I got an email the other day with a link to buy it.
Evidently it's the real deal:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidAuto/comments/nlvwn8
I ordered one. I'm definitely not cancelling my AAWireless though. I prefer to support folks from the XDA community.

I've been looking into Carsifi. There's very little written about it which makes me think it's a clever spam. Anyone have any information that suggests otherwise?

Looks to be the same thing as AAWireless. I'll give it a shot once more people start getting their units.

Check the Reddit thread I posted above. Evidently, it works. Mine is supposed to get here tomorrow. Knowing USPS it'll probably be next week though... I'll report back when I have it and have it setup.

I got mine today it works pug and play.

I'm very surprised. Their site has this quote:
Worldwide ShippingOrder process within 24 hours and you will receive it in 7 days.

If that were true, I would expect many people reporting back on their success or failure. Also, the sites states that you may pre-order it which certainly seems to contradict the above quote? I've sent them 2 emails back in May, but have not received replies to either? I've called their listed number, but no answer?

That was my experience. Have tested all is good so far. I have been delay again by aa so gave it a try.

If you preorder you should get a link when they are available. The link takes you to a page that you can then order one.
Just because people haven't been reporting successes/failures, doesn't mean folks haven't been ordering these. Not everyone is on XDA or Reddit. Plus, they only just started shipping these two or three weeks ago. When I read the Reddit post that confirmed it wasn't a scam, I went to place my order and they were sold out. I emailed them and I got a response back the same day that they had an extra unit and I was able to order it.
And a lot of AAWireless units are getting ready to ship out. It will bring the delivered orders up to ~18,000+. That's a LOT of folks getting their wireless AA.

I received mine on Saturday, and unfortunately, it is not working. It has an enable debugging option on the companion app, so I was able to send logs with my support email as well as my detailed description of what it was doing. They responded right away and even sent a config to the app just for my setup. However, still doesn't work. They said my Audi as well as a Toyota Tundra are having the same problem. My phone and the device connect fine, but it doesn't project AA to the screen. They asked for firmware version and whatever other info and they will work on a fix. This is the identical problem I had when I was trying to get the AA Gateway to work (with 2 different phones).
Honestly, I'm fairly confident in these guys. Even having problems, which sucks, they have been Johnny on the spot with returning support emails and working on fixes. They also offered to refund the cost while letting me keep the device and while they find a fix for it. I think that's some great support service. I'm disappointed that I still don't have wireless AA, but I'm pretty sure these guys will get me going sooner than later. Definitely recommend.

So, after about 4 weeks of troubleshooting, mine is now working! I have to hand it to the Carsifi team, when I reached out to support when mine didn't work, they immediately started working on a fix, sending different configs directly to the companion app on my phone to apply to the device. Pretty much everyday they were working on this, and as of yesterday, they finally nailed it. I definitely recommend getting one if you want to try it or are waiting for AAWireless to ship your device. 5 stars for support. If it doesn't work for some reason, reach out to them and they WILL get you working.
FYI, the device takes about 10-15 seconds to boot up and connect most of the time. I've found that keeping the phone unlocked while it boots makes it go quicker. This was the same with my wired connection.
Feel free to ask me questions about the device and\or support, etc..

Their site now links to kick-starter and shows ship dates of Oct and Nov depending on amount pledged.
I will stick with Emil and AAWilreless. I also use his OBD2AA app, so a big fan and supporter!

That they do! They pushed out an earlier device, which I have and works great, but they redesigned it and are now trying to get enough backers to make it happen. Everyone who bought their previous device is getting a free upgrade to the new one. They're really trying hard to make a good company.
I also ordered AAWireless back in May, and I'm not cancelling my order, but, I'll decide which I like better once I have them both. So far, I'm not sure I even have a need for the AAWireless device? The new Carsifi device is really small and works with two phones. Anyway, a good option while you wait! They may still have the current device available, which you would have in about a week shipping.

I am betting I would get both at the same time this fall! So I will stick with AAWireless and wait for the dust to setlle next year to see who the winner will be!

Has anyone dumped the microSD card. The underlying Orange Pi Lite2 is pretty flexible and I'm curious if they built a Linux solution for Android auto or are using AAGateway.

Does anyone have any experience with Carlinkit 3.0 Adapter, good or bad?

Hello, about Carsifi and aawireless adspters, they work in all cars which their fabric car multimedia support android auto, or it depends from car to cae? Thanks, just to know to buy or not

Asus RMA

Just wanted to let anyone know that an RMA from asus is not the way to go! I could not get ahold of google so I contacted asus on 7/18/2012. An RMA was issued and I sent out my nexus 7 to them. According to UPS asus received the package on 7/23/2012. When I look up my RMA status online asus states they received my nexus on 7/25/2012. No big deal. However it is currently 8/6/2012, a nice 13 days that asus has had my nexus and as you can tell from the pic that I am no where near receiving my nexus back. As you can see my status is still "waitex". I shipped out my nexus on 7/19/2012 so as of today I have been with out my nexus for 19 days. Not too concerned but just wanted to let everyone know of my situation and not to go this route unless you have to. Thought I was saving time by going through asus but obviously not.

Sorry to hear. This is how Asus operates. I RMA'd my Transformer Prime and the morons sent me back a 32 GB unit to replace my 64 GB unit. Now I'm going through the whole damn RMA process again. They're a despicable company.
Most tech companies operate warranties this way. It's because they don't have gigantic departments to handle the claims. I don't get the Asus hate. Been using their great PC parts for years in my PC. Clearly there aren't any pc people here or no one would be calling them "despicable". It's Asus or msi for pc parts no in between.
Anyway last year I bought a power color AMD Radeon 6790, and it kept having a screen garbled issue. After trying anything I threw it a friends pc and yep same issue. So i made an rma to power color, had to pay $14 for shipping I was without my card for nearly a month and I was pretty cranky about it as I couldn't play battlefield 3 without it. But they replaced the card and no issues since so I can't complain.
Does Asus have advanced shipping? Some tech companies do, ie western digital, thermaltake

Actually, I have used Asus for PC parts in the past - pretty much just motherboards. Never had any problems. But they treated their customers like garbage with the Transformer Prime, and now we have these problems with the N7. Things like "fixing" non-working GPS on the Prime by removing it from the box as an included feature, breaking people's tablets and claiming the customers broke them, promising updates that will fix serious issues yet only cause more serious issues, sending back the wrong tablet during the RMA process, etc., etc. are not very endearing qualities.
And they do not offer advance replacement for RMA for tablets. I spoke with numerous people there and tried to demand one since they f'ed up and sent me the wrong tablet back during my RMA ordeal, but they wouldn't budge.
rma issues with asus..
I to had a run in with there so called service on a netbook. asus eee atom based. I was told i have to mail it to them . When she give me address of where to mail it. the place was 1.2 miles from my home . SHE AT FIRST SAID IT HAD TO BE MAILED OVER NIGHT UPS. I ASKED FOR NUMBER OF the place. she gave it to me. I called them . They said sure drop it off. But we will have to mail it back to you. I said ok. So i go over there to drop it off go inside the building talk to them show them the rma . They tell me they will NOT Accept it. And that i must mail it.
I DRIVE two building down to a ups drop off place in this industrial area . Go into the ups store tell them what i was told at asus.. They guy says Ok . He takes my tablet sticks a label on it CHARGES ME NOTHING . Walks next door into the ASUS SERVICE CENTER AND HANDS THEM THE PACKAGE. .
IT WAS 4 WEEKS LATER I GOT THE NETBOOK BACK AND i sware they never touched it.. same issue SOLD IT ON EBAY AT A LOSS WITH BAD CAMERA .
AS far as the above post .. comparing asus and MSI AS two top mother board manufacturers .. asus CAN NOT COMPETE TO customer service you get from msi....
I fugured this tablet would be better knowing . well hopping google was going to have some say over QUALITY CONTROL.. Guess i was very wrong..
thanks for hearing my story . and yes ITS TOTALLY TRUE .
My experience with Asus Canada concerning RMAs was with a notebook and it was terrible! They contract out their work here to a 3rd party and coordination between Asus and that 3rd party was terrible. It was a lengthy and unrewarding experience. It was one of the reasons I decided to move to Apple for my notebooks.

Hello I had to send my nexus 7 also the day Asus SAT 06/08/2012 from Spain to the Czech Republic, the problem is that since Android upgrade to 4.1.1 when you gave it to turn off the tablet jumped a white screen and could not turn it back on, just do not turn on after it was stopped in the letters of Google
CID
So i accidently broke off my wifi antenna points on the board behind the cover. Not a big deal as i can resolder them back on, but soon after I broke them i realized i have the screen lifting issue and would like to RMA. What do you think the odds are of me getting dinged for CID if I RMA this to ASUS?

If it's obvious when they open the back cover that you've opened it and tampered with it to break that antenna point, I'm guessing they would pretty much have to consider customer induced damage if they are following the policies, but it's possible you will get lucky and the person who makes the call will see the two as unrelated and fix the screen separation issue or them not notice it at all and fix the screen and send it back to you.
To the OP, a lot of time with the transformer prime, customers receive their tablets back or see them changed to ready to ship before they even get notification that the repair process has been started. It's kind of like the tracking system with the USPS used to be back when I had money to purchase a lot of products online. The tracking progress wouldn't be updated until after delivery.
Based on past experience I would guess that your turnaround time will be around a month. The only way that you'll get true progress information in my opinion that's close to reliable is if you contact an asus executive or a representative that's assigned to do damage control and they take up the cause and have some direct correspondence with the repair facility and then give you real progress updates, the automated system and process on status updates in real time just isn't consistent or reliable enough to count on in my opinion.
Gary Key used to move a lot of these through for XDA members but I don't know if he's involved anymore. There's also some executive contact information to call or email some of the higher ups in some of the Asus RMA threads in the prime section in case that's helpful.

I've dealt with companies like this in the past. The way to get your problem resolved is the old squeaky grease approach. It takes some work on your part though.
First, find a phone number for ASUS where you can get a real person to answer. Use the internet as his can be the tough part. I've actually found the address for the company I was trying to reach but no number. So I used the address to get the phone number for the suite next to them. I called them to get my the company that I needed's unlisted number.
Once you are able to talk to a real person get their name and a way to contact them if you are disconnected. Tell them your issue. They will then transfer you. If you actually get someone then again get the name and way to contact them. Repeat until you get an answer.
Most likely you will get transferred to voice mail. Leave a detailed message and then call the last person you actually talked to back. (The one that last transfered you) Tell them you want to talk to a person and don't' want voice mail. Do not take no for an answer. Ask to speak with the manager. Be polite but firm. Do not lose your temper.
If you are told someone will call you back get an exact day and time. Try to get their name and number if you can. Call them yourself.
Keep a log of every person you talked to and how to get back in touch with them. Call every person each day until you get them to take care of your situation.
I know it's a ridiculous amount of work to get something done that the company should just handle itself but if you want results sometimes you have to it.
How long it takes in appear the tablet in Global Repair Status Inquiry System? My tablet came to the Czech Republic on Thursday, 09/08/2012, 13/08/2012 Today I still do not see anything only this: You have not reqeusted RMA. for the machines below, however, They Have not Been received by us. I'm worried
Looks like I'm going to need to RMA my Nexus 7 from Google Play again. I did two RMAs earlier through Google Play and they cross shipped me replacements. I'm not sure if that was normal or just special treatment because I was still within my 15 day return period. Will they still cross ship me a replacement now or are they directing people to ASUS?
My repair status has changed to: "Waiting-[WB2] Wait for Swap / Exchange" What does this mean? I have no idea
I RMA'd my Nexus 7 this week because of the screen lift issue but mine was actually creaking while using the tablet which is very annoying and I sent them it with Canada Post 3 day express post. They had the tablet 2 days total but it never showed up in the RMA status section only saying they haven't received the tablet yet. Tonight, I went to see my status and it's not showing as being on file at all. I then get an email from ASUS within a few minutes saying my tablet was shipped to me... Only I have no idea if they fixed the issue on my tablet or just sent it right back to me without fixing it or gave me a new one... Will have to wait and see I guess.

from reading about asus warranty support in other threads forums and devices. If they have shipped it back to you without calling/emailing you asking for a credit card. They have either fixed or are just replacing your device.
My RMA experience took just over a month. 9 days to reply to initial email, after which most of it went pretty quick. Delays from arguing with them over whether the repair was covered...but it worked out in the end. Finally got it back yesterday. I'm quite pleased with the repaired unit, no lift and I can't seem to get the flickering to happen any more. Color seems a bit better, though not perfect still. I feel like it might be a different manufacturer of this screen than the first, or just a better version.
What ever happened with your nexus 7? Im going thru the exact same thing.
Thanks

i can relate, ive sent my n7 in for screen lift, came back with more lift, sent it in again, came back with the touchscreen unresponsive, sent it in for a third time now..if it doesnt come back fixed i am going to ask for a refund, since the tablet spent more than half its lifetime at the repair centre rather than at my hands
Asus support is the worst in the world. They don't care about their customers, and they're incompetent. I speak from experience as a Transformer Prime owner who had to go through their RMA process multiple times.

Thank god I bought it from Google! While I know that Google is handling claims for the first year on the nexus 7, they need a permanent warranty exchange system for all the nexus devices. As much as I want to give the finger to carriers and their subsidized phones, you know if my vivid were to break all I have to do is call at&t, and they'll have a refurbished vivid on my door step tommorrow, with a return label to ship my broken phone back. I can't help but think if i bought the galaxy nexus or lg nexus 4 that I'd have to buy a backup phone too as I might be out of a phone for a month or longer otherwise. Seriously the nexus 7 isn't an asus product. No its a Google product, Asus is just the contractor that built it for them so no one should have to deal with their support.
Also I'm all about advanced shipping. Last December I had surgery and was hoping to play some serous battlefield 3 on my PC during my 2 weeks off work, instead my video card broke and was in rma processing the whole friggen time! I got it back a week after I returned to work! No one should have to deal with that crap! Just set up advanced shipping for crying out loud!

Short review of Signal King 48dbi wifi antenna

Picked it up for $22 bucks shipped off ebay, free shipping (from China).
http://www.amazon.com/Signal-Wireless-Adaptor-Antenna-150Mbps/dp/B007M7RP6Q
It came today, took about a week which is surprising as most things I get from China take at least 2-3,maybe because the other products are a bit cheaper ($1-$5).
Hooked it up and it was detected by my Windows 7 laptop fast, I did not bother with the 2 mini-discs included. 1 is for drivers , the other is some weird software from Benin for "detecting wifi networks" but I've read it's for cracking WEPs,I wont even bother to stick this disc in my laptop.
My stock wifi card is lucky to pick up 3-4 signals, the Signal King antenna picked up 14. I used Xirrus Wifi Inspector since I forgot I had Netstumbler installed (its not compatible with my stock wifi card).
14 signals is a pretty decent jump and the closest wifi signal jumped from -70- -80 to -39. Not bad at all for $22. i can now use the free wifi hotspots around my neighborhood pretty easy and im getting speeds of 8mb from the closest one.
I'm still messing around with location and where and how to aim it but either way,i'm very pleased with my initial experience.
Here is a pic of the Xirrus graph, sorry for how crappy it looks,I used MS Paint.

I wanted to take a minute to throw down my 2 cents on this device and back up the review of it posted above.
I often find myself in locations where wireless internet access is not immediately available for various reasons. 99% of the time my internal wireless card on my laptop can see an unsecured network with a signal strength strong enough to appear in the list, but not strong enough to actually move data.
Because of this, for over a year now i've been searching for the end all be all solution to this problem, I've studied wireless chipsets inside and out, learned the capabilities and faults of hardware from every manufacturer, I've spent what amounts to hundreds of dollars on wireless adapters, signal boosters, signal amplifiers both low power <2w and high power >5w. I've tried the amped wireless 1w signal booster and the rosewill rebadged version, I have Alfa adapters, I have low power adapters to use with the amplifiers, I have high power adapters, high gain adapters and long range adapters, and I have what amounts to a freakish collection of antennas, that range from 2dBi indoor to 18dBi outdoor directional antennas.
Some of the devices i've tried came from established local and online retailers like Fry's Electronics and Newegg so I was able to return some of the things for a refund. the more expensive items I always bought from some place with a hassle free return policy. The smaller stuff was all purchased thru ebay, and though i could technically return the items if i really wanted, but its a pain in the ass and more trouble than its worth, so i've kept them.
All throughout this adventure I was becoming more and more convinced that the end all be all solution to my wireless problems, or holy grail of wireless adapters, just didn't exist. Every time i considered another option, or bought another device or accessory that didn't live up to its claims, I felt like I was hunting Zebras, mythical creatures that dont exist, but if you look for them, you will always find one, just beyond your grasp.
Several weeks ago, while completely bored out of my mind, I was thumbing thru wireless devices for sale on ebay, I usually limit the listings i see to US only, but some reason this time I didn't. As I was scrolling down the pages, I kept running across this device, it certainly looked interesting enough, so I stopped and read the listing for it, the listing made some really wild claims both about the capabilities and the antenna design. I immediately wrote it off as bull**** and went on scrolling. For some reason, over the next hour this device kept popping in to my head and poking me, to the point it was starting to annoy me, so I went back and looked at it again, read some listing from other sellers, searched google for the part number, which the only meaningful search result google returned was this forum i'm replying to now.
I thought about it for a few minutes and applied the rational that i've already spent so much money on this quest, whats another $22, and i hit the buy it now button.
Fast forward 2 weeks to yesterday afternoon when the USPS mail lady rang my doorbell and handed me the box. When it arrived I actually wasn't even remotely excited about it, mostly due to all the previous let downs, but had nothing better to do for the next couple hours, so i opened it, its looks cool enough. I plugged it in, didn't even have to install drivers because i have drivers for just about every wireless adapter ever created already installed on my laptop. I had the windows 7 connect to a network popup window open when my laptop finished installing and enabling the device, the scroll bar had about a half inch of travel, basically i could scroll down as see one more network. I watched that scroll button shrink to about 3.4in in size. the first thing that went thru my mind was huh?, that changed quickly to WTF? then to Holy ****! I scrolled down a list of networks that just blew my mind, 4x the number of networks my internal adapter was seeing. I've lived in the house for 2 years and I was absolutely certain that at some point or another I had seen every wireless network near my house. I also found out that i was completely wrong about that.
Still in a state of disbelief, knowing in my heart and in my head that this was just a fluke, I opened up Xirrus Wifi monitor, inSSIDer3, Passmark Wireless Mon and started my Backtrack5 VM in an attempt to rationalize the fact that this was just a fluke.I studied the list of networks that each program provided and the signal strengths of each of these networks, comparing this device to my internal wireless card and finally looking at the airodump output on backtrack.
After about 45 minutes of failing to convince myself that this was just a fluke, the reality of the situation set in and a wave of both relief and anger washed over me, the relief, because I finally found it, and it really does exist, the holy grail of wireless network adapters. the anger? because I realized the every dime I spend on wireless hardware prior to ordering this device was a complete wasted of money, all I needed to do was buy one of these devices.
What I got when I purchased this device, is what I was expecting when I purchased both of my Alfa wireless adapters that people so highly praise but ultimately wound up on the top of my expensively disappointing pile, I also have a cheap disappointment pile, a pile of devices that i'm embarrassed to admit i bought, and a works surprisingly well for what it is, but doesn't do what i need it to pile.
The only drawback I can find to this device is that there is no viable US distributors for it, that I could find anyway. There are some random sellers on the US that have these available for sale, but are selling them for stupidly high prices, like >$100. So its 2 weeks from China or bust... I ordered a second one today, just for good measure, and I also ordered a couple other Signal King devices, such as a compact version of this device that claims to have almost identical capabilities and couple other things, figuring that if this device is so awesome, I cant wait to see what their other devices can do....
Nice
Just bought one yesterday, arriving in a week. Wallyb I sent you a private message
Mac driver for this card??
Just can't get it working on mac.
Anyone got the driver?? Doing my nut in!!

T-Mobile is awesome

I know that this is a samsung galaxy s6 forum, but I want to tell you about my experience with T Mobile's technical support department and jump warranty. So I called in on Sunday letting them know that I had the purple spot issue with my front facing camera and ask for replacement they start the process for us to do the replacement and I was told that it was going to take about 6 to 10 business days for me to receive a replacement phone because they didn't have the white Samsung Galaxy S6 32 gb model in stock, well to my surprise my phone was shipped on Monday and I received it yesterday and today.
I went to pick it up to find out the gentleman who I asked to replace my phone or did the warranty replacement actually upgraded my phone to a 64 gigabyte model for free since I had to wait so long for a replacement.
Now I didn't know he upgraded my phone to a larger model until I actually received my new phone and called back and he left notes stating why he did it, this is probably the best customer service that I have received, the guy that I talked to you was amazing and now I have a upgraded version that I had didn't have to pay for and actually had a pretty good conversation with the gentleman as well again I'm sorry if this is not supposed to be in this thread or forum but I just wanted to say how excited and happy I was with the experience that I had with T Mobile's customer service.

It's really hit or miss. I find that online chat support is pretty horrible, they follow a script and can't think outside the box. Phone support is light years better, they have always helped out. I don't buy warranties so if you every need help and are outside the return period they don't really give a crap. It's easy to get help when you pay $10 per month, otherwise they don't really care all that much. You get what you pay for.

For what it's worth, my brother used to work at a tech support call center (not for T-Mobile), and they DO have scripts, and they're not ALLOWED to "think outside the box." He frequently got frustrated, because he knew that he could troubleshoot his callers' issues and actually help them (since he had a pretty solid base of knowledge about software and computers in general), but he wasn't allowed to go beyond the script.
That doesn't make it any less frustrating when dealing with that kind of tech "support", but knowing that has at least made me better at realizing that the person on the phone isn't the problem, and that I just need to keep insisting to speak to a supervisor to eventually get to someone who actually has authority to DO something besides read cookie-cutter questions and answers from a script.
I had an issue with each S6 I received.. each warranty replacement.
So Tmobile allowed my account to have a jump upgrade without having to pay off half the phone. so now i can upgrade to another device whenever I want waiting on the G4 or possibly sony z4 or nexus

If you're leaving the S6 the z4 is the only option in my opinion. Sure it's going to have a throttled sd810 in it but it's still a good processor. The g4 and nexus are overhyped with little to offer. I have to say after I got use to the rear buttons on the g3 I loved them, much better than on the sides.

I came from a G2 to the s6. I loved the rear buttons and the tap to wake/sleep feature.
The nexus im unsure of cause of camera quality.
I like the sony line cause their design/size and specs. Still hesitant on the g4 cause I'm now spoiled on the build quality of the s6 and the SD808 plus its a larger phone

Just wondering what you were talking about when you said pay off half the phone? I've jumped three times and came no where near paying off half the phone. I jumped each time on the 6 month mark exactly. Are you saying I can jump anytime I want as long as half is paid off?

There's jump 1.0 and jump 2.0.
Jump 2.0 you have to pay off half the phone (usually a year) to upgrade.
Jump 1.0 you can upgrade every 6months

The way it works with jump 1.0 is you can upgrade twice per year, starting on the date you originally added jump. So if you added jump in July, you can jump twice any time between July and June, every year. The 6 month wait period only pertained to the first jump upgrade on the account. But obviously if you jump twice in the first half of your cycle, you'll need to wait until your cycle restarts.

Nice lol so i lucked out getting on JUMP early lol Note 2, LG G2, HTC One M8, Note 4, S6
Does anybody know if being on Jump 1.0 or Jump 2.0 is dependent on the date you made the original phone purchase ( when you first signed for JUMP).?
How can you tell what version you have. I'm pretty sure I have 2.0. I had to sign up for jump to keep my m8 and get the s6 when it was released. I was under the impression that I have to pay off at least half of the s6 to trade it in for another.
And, yes, I agree Tmobile is awesome.
Edit
I know wich one I have. [emoji1]

^^^i don't get that option. I get the following message " Your JUMP upgrades have been maximized till 11/18/15".
So I must be on JUMP 1.0
You are on 1.0 if yours does not show up like his, mybwas also 2.0 but when I first got T-Mobile my credit was bad so they made me put half down on the phone, so every time I jump I'm already elegible to jump again beacause they won't rerun my credit. But im not complaining because i just got the s6 and I'm already eligible to jump to what ever I want

Yeah but if you (you as in you your self not the generalized term) jump before the phone is paid off your just giving tmobile money and a phone they didn't earn. Jumping for the rest of us still doesn't add up completely, but it is a nice option if you want to escape your phone at the one year mark. Really the closest jumping comes to making financial sense is if you are half paid off (no more no less) at the one year mark and jump immediately.
I don't mind "leasing" my phone if all I pay down is the tax on it. Financial sense went out of the window for me after T-Mobile introduced all these enticing upgrades a couple of years back

I agree, I was more than happy to trade my g3 for this phone. I even gave them $50 to get the eip to half so I could jump immediately. What I did didn't financial sense but it was only 50 and I was sick of that phone. I think I'll pay this phone off as long as its battery holds up and Samsung doesn't release a graphene phone in the next two years.
I don't know, I keep trying to like them but they keep doing things to make me mad. Today they told me I can't report bad service because my phones are rooted. It's a Nexus 6 and my SGS6. Both are on stock software just rooted. It's rediculous that they can't even check the tower remotely to verify it is working. Basically one tower refuses to allow the phones to jump up from edge speed. Once you drop down you have to go to airplane mode to get back up.

I don't think that is a "problem" just a odd quark with the hand off. It has happened to me on verizon, att, sprint and t-mobile.

Could be. It's worked before, and while driving bouncing from 2G to 3G allows me to still listen to Spotify. If it's stuck on 2G Spotify does not work. It's disappointing because it's about a 10 minute section of the road.

Should I return my Pebble Time Steel?

It arrived yesterday from Amazon and I really like it but as i guess you all know today came an E-mail discontinuing support and Warranty. I have already started a return request but as the day goes on and the watch presents it's uses I am increasingly annoye at what has happened. Why? Because this was the Smart Watch I wanted. Long battery life, easy use and just works. I am concerned , however should the watch go wrong or will I see these watches going for far less in a week or two as the news sinks in. What do people think, should I return it. Looking around the Sony 3 looks the closest but nowhere near on Battery life. Any other options?
Same question ...
I'm in the same boat with Pebble 2 HR ... I really like it so far ... bought it yesterday from Best Buy have one month to return it ... don't know what to do. Will it WORK a year from now, don't care to much about warranty but will it actually have the app available !?
So my answer "I don't know!" I think I'll wait until Jan. and see if anything changes, maybe some more info, let the water clear a little.
I will never buy a FitBit that is 100% .
Other option:
Vector Watch Luna - arriving for me on Monday wife agreed to let me buy it ...
No reason the app would go away or stop working. I guess if Android "O" comes out or the new iOS and is somehow incompatible with the existing app it would break, but other than that... I still love my Pebble Rond and can't find anything out there that comes close to it as far as aesthetics and functionality.

Server switch off will quite easily cause a large amount of features to "stop working" so yes return it and get your money back while you can.

Aside from downloading new watchfaces, I couldn't name a single feature of the Pebble that would require a centralized server.

^^^^^ Yes. Unlike the Apple watch, the Pebble watch is self-contained. Most apps are local, while many make use of already established APIs (weather, PayPal, etc) that are not controlled by OEM servers.
I'm in the same shoes. I bought my time steel on cyber Monday last week. It works fine since but what if it breaks? I purchased it from amazon so I have a time window to return it but after that I will be alone. I own a pebble classic as well which broke after about 10 months of use and had a warranty replacement. The new one I had is actually working better then the old one which broke. I can easily get 7 days of battery life out of my pebble classic. My only issue is what if my new time steal breaks after 10 months? Or they just shut the servers as other people suggested. The problem is I do love my pebbles but as the future is uncertain maybe time to change to a more reliable future proof brand.
I tried to find a good alternative like Garmin Forerunner 230 which has similar features but more expensive.
I still haven't decided whether I should send it back or not. I probably get a garmin as well and will compare them.
Timeline, weather and voice recognition are but a few which will die after server switch off was confirmed on pocket now podcast
...Continuing on the other option, Vector Luna arrived on Friday and I'm ditching Pebble.
Although my Pebble 2/HR has a better screen it's way smaller, looks more geeky (for me a plus) it has a HR sensor (was accurate enough despite some bad reviews) and the best of all it has voice reply ( probably defunct soon enough) - on Vector no HR and MIC not as refined apps as Pebble but it has the potential to be the best replacement out there for battery life and functionality. I really hate to charge anything, even my phone , every day ... If FitBit kept Pebble alive I've kept the Pebble over Vector, but given the circumstances I'll return it today. Just my 2 cents based on my experience with both.
got my pts on saturday. I love it! before this I've had 2 microsoft bands and a garmin fenix hr.
I've found the pebble more informative and easier to wear to the extent it's far better as a daily driver... sports functions remain better served by a sports band and I'll put that on when I put my sports gear on.
wife has 2 pebbles and a moto 36- 2nd gen and is very attached to the pebbles too.
wish I'd tried one earlier tbh.

Link? None of that makes sense, I think yo'ure confusing things. Weather uses a different server, and timeline doesn't use a server at all.

Hmph. That's disappointing.
Timeline will continue to work for calendar reminders as those are pulled from your phone and those events are not stored on Pebble's servers. However the weather/sunrise pins will probably stop working. Any other app that Pebble created that might push pins to your timeline will probably also stop working.

I got a Luna as well as a replacement of the time steel but it does not vibrate with notifications only with incoming calls. All the notifications enabled and the vibration is on. Anyone who went for the luna route have this issue?
I recently replaced my Pebble classic, and at the same time bought my wife one for Christmas. I then Found the news that pebble had sold out to fitsh*t and all warranty and support would cease. Immediately I returned the two new pebbles and bought two different devices. I got the Alcatel GoWatch (actually surprisingly VERY good) and I bought the Mrs a Sony SW3.
I'm gonna miss Pebble, but screw them - they used to be all about their Customers and it seems to me they should up up the creek without a paddle. My advice to everyone is FIND ANOTHER SMART WATCH! There's a lot out there that will beat Pebble hands down, just the battery life that is a pain on other devices.
Fitbit is unbelievable, they just bought Vector too. I just managed to buy a Vector luna over the xmas season from John Lewis for a £100 cheaper and now they been bought by fitbit as well as pebble. At least they don't stop the warranty and support immediately. I cannot believe how unlucky I am.
Server switch off, or just its removal of user-base results in not being able to 'reboot' your pebble. Your to be downloaded apps, watchfaces etc are neuther on watch itself, your ios phone... only on server, ubder you user account
May be hope...
Ok, Pebble-eers...I being a Pebble fanboy, started snooping around, the day I got the message that Pebble died. If your interested, look up Rebble, sorry, new guy...cant post links yet , its worth a look, the Pebble community is very much alive and well...or, another alternative is Gadgetbridge, although there are some drawbacks.
Wow!
I'm loving my PTS since the first day my kickstarter package arrived and before my Pebble classic was the best gadget I ever had. I'm still lucky with my PTS right now and wearing it every day along with gadgetbridge :good:
It was quite fun to write Watchfaces for Pebble since it's some of Code you've trust everyday

Dex on the Peugeot 108

Hey everyone
I have been looking in to upgrading my wife's Peugeot 108's touchscreen with the the newer touchscreen that has android auto ect.
Unfortunately people have worked out this is an easy upgrade with the unit and just like what we seen with PS5, Xbox, 30 series graphic cards and Ryzen 3000 series We have an infection of people are now selling the upgraded unit at stupid prices.
I had a company before Christmas a company who quoted me a Brand new head touchscreen ready coded for £445.00, I thought this was steep but it was brand new with 2 years warranty and thought it to be reasonable.....but unfortunately I wasn't able to purchase at that time (due to some of the items mentioned above coming out)
Then last week one user on Ebay posted his upgraded unit USED for £599.99, then a week later we have our second used head unit for the same price.....so I thought I go back to that company and ask if the original quote available......surprise surprise.....they gone and put the price up to £699.99.
This scalper type world that is emerging is getting out of hand. These people know that this touchscreen is in demand not just in one car but 3 cars (108,C1 and Aygo) and they are looking to make a quick buck on them. Even though its is not against the law, it doesn't make it right.
I recently started using Samsung Dex with my LG TV using Mirrorlink/Mirrorscreen and its got me thinking if it can use mirrolink on tv...why can't we use Dex on the old 108 touchscreen.
If people don't know what Dex is, it's basically a desktop mode inside the phone....it connects to visual devices like a monitor or TV.....then you get a desktop on screen that use your phone to power everything...and you get access to all your apps....you can connect a keyboard and a mouse ect.
Unfortunately I am just one brain and this is why I have come to Reddit and XDA.....I need people thoughts, solutions and knowledge. If we can work together to get Dex working in a 108 this would truly "stick it" to people trying scalpe the head units.....if we can get it working with Samsung phones first then we could work our way to the rest of Android and maybe other car owners can benefit as well....if we achieve this we lower the demand of the units and the value of them.
So let's put our heads together and work this out. If anyone gets it going post it here.....we can make YouTube tutorial and get the word out. I posted this on Reddit but I know the members of XDA developers are going to have some really magic to make this work.
Good luck people
