A new update has released today .
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 and the Galaxy Watch 3 have started getting a new software update with a download size of around 49MB. The latest update seems to improve the icons for auto walking, auto running, and inactive alerts as per the official changelog. The new software, which is based on Tizen OS 5.5.0.2, also improves the device stability of the two smartwatches.
The latest software update for the Galaxy Watch Active 2 bears firmware version R820XXU1DUE3, while the Galaxy Watch 3 has firmware version R840XXU1BUE3. The updates are now available for Samsung’s Galaxy smartwatches in the US, and we expect the rollout to expand to more countries in the following days.

Just got an OTA update for my active. Im on an unlocked s4 active in the uk.
Thought it was 4.3. The description said it was for Galaxy Gear support.
So still on 4.2.2. with a working gear. Im on the latest null rom too.
I wonder if other s4 variants or galaxy devices are getting this.

Yes I just got a 56 Mb update and suddenly my gear is working - Bottler beaut mate!!!! Its only because my phone came with a build from Yemen (Ebay grey) and half the apps were not in English, because the Oz version of the rom I downloaded did not cook properly I decided to download the SE Asia version and within minutes I had an update from 4.22 to 4.22 which I thought was strange but I decided to try and set up my gear again, call it a hunch but bingo I have a working gear that I can upload clocks and apps etc, talk about perfect timing I have just sold my Note 3 and though the gear would be stored for a few month because we in OZ are the bottom of the food chain for Samsung, and then with controlling telcos like Telstra it would be 6 months or more before we would have had an update .
I use S4 mini dual sim i9192 and I got the compatibility in December last year...

Hey XDA, I've got a question about phone software updates that maybe someone could enlighten me on:
What determines when a particular phone will get an update? I guess I'm not entirely clear on how updates are rolled out.
For example: I have a Note 9 that I bought refurbished. It was originally running the AT&T version before I flashed the unlocked firmware. I currently use the note 9 with unlocked firmware (no carrier specific bloat, just samsung and facebook stuff) on the TMobile network.
Since I've started using the phone I've always been about a month or more behind on the latest updates. Currently I am on the December 1st 2018 Security update and I have been patiently waiting for the Pie update. Who/what determines when I will get this update? Is it Tmobile, At&t or samsung
OS Update releases are dependent on when the device manufacturer would release them in what country.
Being unlocked currently, you are waiting with the rest of us to get the update after the other 4 carriers have released it. Right now we are all waiting on TMO, once they have released we should not be far behind.
They do this to make sure there won't be any issues regardless of the carrier you are on. Sucks, I know.
Hello,
I am thinking about buying a Galaxy Note 9 korean variant, i found a good deal and the phone is brand new.
Are there any limitation if i use the device in Europe? Will I recieve software updates regularly or am I gonna be stuck with the version that comes with it?

if the device gets region unlocked( usually a 5 min call is made to lift that before being sent) beforehand then it should works just as well as an F model. for receiving updates that i dont know. I've been manually updating mine evry so often. there are much less frequent firmware updates for the Korean N devices aswell.
i manually download the new firmwares with samfirm 0.3.6 and apply them via odin 3.13.3
been doing this since the note 8.
You should be able to use it in the EU without any issues as any Samsung device purchased in Korea is naturally sold unlocked.
I know in the past, before the S10, Samsung was pretty terrible about getting software updates to the unlocked versions. Taking several months longer, than the carrier versions.
So how did Samsung do with getting unlocked software updates on the S10? I'm curious to know before I decide which Galaxy S20 I preorder.
I have a Verizon S10 and I was quite pleased with the promptness of the software updates. I'm impressed we even got Android 10.
I was in the beta and my unlocked was a couple of weeks at least behind the beta people with locked phones when the final came out.
Same question here. I was looking at firmware listings on sammobile and it seems that at least for the latest firmware ...CTA3 U1 versions are dated 02-03-2020, whereas for U model only T-Mobile has CTA3 and is dated later 02-09-2020. Would love to hear from someone with unlocked model about their update experience. I've stopped buying unlocked precisely for these update delays, but would love to loose T-Mobile crap and silly 4/5g LTE icons if Samsung has gotten their act together.

I'm running an unlocked S10e on T-Mobile. Got the February security update on 4Feb. Wife's S10e we got directly from T-Mobile, it still hasn't had the Feb update pushed.
While those of us wiih unlocked phones were more than a week behind everyone else getting out of beta on Android 10, we received the February patch before some locked phones. It would be unusual for Samsung to push anything out to the unlocks early but they did on the last patch.
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering how often Galaxy S20 FE 5G owners here receive their security updates, because my own unit (an SM-G781U1 US unlocked model) hasn't seen one since August 2022, and searching for updates via Settings doesn't net me anything new.
Is there a cache that I should empty to make sure I get the security updates in a timely fashion, or is everybody else getting the same treatment here?
I must add that I live in France, I have a mobile contract with a French provider, and I bought this phone new from Rakuten three months ago.
According to DevCheck, the phone was manufactured on July 26, 2021. It came with Android 11 out of the box, and is now running Android 12 (One UI 4.1).
I don't expect a switch to Android 13 / One UI 5 until sometime next year, but I was under the impression that this model would get monthly security updates.
FWIW, my unit received the October Security Update today, so I suppose I should consider myself lucky. Apparently, Samsung is planning on upgrading us to One UI 5 (Android 13) sometime in December, according to GSM Arena.
Thanks for watching and take care!
As it were, the monthly update must have also brought some power management fixes, because it seems that battery life is improved on my unit. I keep the screen at 120 Hz and do a lot of Twittering and the like, and battery will get me through a solid day and a half now, instead of barely a day before the update.
I feel like its getting less often, I know eventually its supposed to go to quarterly, but that shouldnt have happened yet right?
I also didnt get september and went straight to october.
My guess is we'll maybe get one more before we get OneUI5 update which in my guess will be mid late january if last OS update is anything to go off of
This seemed to happened last year too where security updates slowed down when samsung was working on UI4
I've switched to a OnePlus 9 that's now running Android 13, but I wonder if regarding Samsung, their monthly update policy doesn't differ from one market to another.
My unit has a US (unlocked) ROM that precludes me from getting 5G connectivity, so maybe in the US the update schedule is different from, say, Europe for this model.
As for One UI 5, it should land on the S20 FE sometime in December.
