I'm looking to upgrade from my Redmi note 7 pro in 2021. Going to stick with Redmi. Any experience with this model anyone?
This is Redmi Note 8/8T with bigger screen and battery.
Planning to buy this phone. It'll be an upgrade from Redmi Note 4! Lets see if I can buy it in Flash sales

Haha, me too planing to buy the phone, currently using redmi note 4x too. Saw a deal in aliexpress where the 64gb version is $139. Unfortunately, it doesn't ship to my country
buy redmi 9 power
Bought Redmi 9T as my 2nd phone a.k.a work phone. Loving it. Better view for Outlook, Teams, SharePoint compared to my main phone Pixel 5.

I have redmi 9T NFC bought in Europe and when I run "fastboot getvar version" I get codename 'lemon', even though I've been using all custom software for lime version and it works fine haha

Yeah, You are right. The NFC version codename 'lemon' but 'lime' ROMs are comfortable with it. Cause, everything is same just you have NFC.
In done of hardware and gaming experience, this is THE BEST GAMING phone I have used till date and I have used quite of them as a serious gamer (Razer 1, ROG 2, ROG 3 - limited, Black shark 3 pro, Nubia Red Magic 5s, iPhone 11 Pro Max).
While the OS and some trigger features might not be as complex as ROG phones, here are a few features that separate the phone from rest of the pack:
1) Physical triggers/ shoulder buttons are way better to play with vs. the capacitive triggers on ROG and Red Magic (Red magic triggers suck to be honest). They work even when not using the gaming mode (or shark space mode), unlike Nubia where the triggers work only in RM gaming mode
2) Shark space is very intuitive and much better interface esp compared to Nubia
3) Compared to Rog 2 and Red Magic 5s, the phone remains much cooler even during long gaming sessions (2hrs plus). No significant lags/ frame drops even when the phone is hot.
4) Battery lasts significantly longer during gaming vs. Rog 2 and RM 5s
5) Much better build accessories which also work with other phones unlike ROG where you are stuck with the Asus ecosystem (my rog 2 dock is lying idle since my rog 2 died). The keyboard works great with pc gaming as well as other android devices. Although I usually game on my phone but once a while using keyboard is fun
However, most of the benefits just stop there, and here are the reasons why it is not the first choice for a junkie who wants to get the full out of his phone:
1) Extremely limited Xiaomi support on opening up the software. People still struggle to find global ROMs and rooting the phone for custom ROMs is a nightmare (at least now its free, when I purchased the phone you couldn't root it without paying someone in Xiaomi for it)
2) Some of the great software features in gaming phones are missing:
a) Game recording sucks. If you turn your in game mic on or off during gameplay, chances are audio will stop recording (in game). No matter how many permutations and combinations you try.
b) No way to create automated montage videos like the Red Magic Moment on the phone. The shark time, while eating away the phone battery, is a lousy piece of software (you need to click the icon everytime to make a kill and it will store 15-20 seconds of the video as a file). Having a red magic moment like feature will really push sales of this phone like crazy vs. Nubia. But they wont do it. Neither would they open up to help independent developers build a feature like this.
3) Extremely poor post sales support/ feedback. Unlike ROG (which has a dedicated forum on their website led by Asus employees) where sales and tech support continuously take in feedback to refine their product (example the desktop dock which I worked with their mods for quick updates and refinement), there is no seemingly easy way to connect with Black shark developers to give feedback, forget about requesting new features
I wonder if the developers at Xiaomi even read forums like XDA to help improve their connect with buyers and work on their shortcomings.
Just look at the Android security patch we are at... They are not even bothered.
This phone is last on their list, all the redmi and poco has started receiving Android 11.
Xiaomi should have mentioned zero support on blackshark page.
We don't even have proper gesture based navigation in 2021.
Yeah Global support is really bad. Android security patch is old from 5 may 2020 and still no word about Android 11. It's a shame because the phone it self is still great.
They also focusing now on the new Black Shark 4, but that's no excuse.

They won’t be able to sell many 4 pros if people with bs 3 and 3 pro are struggling. This is why asus sells many more units even though the triggers of bs3 are way better.
The worst part is in China it gets more updates than globally. They should have mentioned this is a China only phone then I would have just brought an OnePlus again or a samsung.

Not sure. But even if it is, be prepared to lose nfc and also limited languages support.
Black Shark 3 Pro doesn't have NFC. But yes Chinese rom is ony English and Chinese language.

Thanks for clarification. My mistake. Got confused with rm device on nfc. Bs3 pro doesn’t have nfc on any version.

Hello
Regular patch and security patch will be rolling out on 3 series this month, plz be patient.
As for joy ui 12, we do not have an estimate for global release yet, plz subscribe to our facebook page and get first hand news.
Best Regards,
Black Shark Global
Wow, what i read now about the Black Shark 4 Pro really sucks. I'm not going to buy it if true.
Last year’s Black Shark Pro 3 was one of the phones with the biggest displays with a massive 7.1-inch screen 90Hz AMOLED panel with a 2k+ resolution. This year, Black Shark has cut down not only the screen size but also the resolution. The Black Shark 4 Pro will have a 6.67-inch screen with a 1080p resolution. We don’t know the screen size and resolution of the standard model but the resolution will most definitely be 1080p too.

It is the new Xiaomi way keep using same display etc on various phones keep tweaking speeds camera etc and churn out endless phones with small differences....6.67 inches...just see how many Xiaomi phones have this display size now.,,,just today they announced 3 more...lol
they even ported joyui 12 to other redmi devices , unofficially by forummers
Let me start off by saying I like OnePlus smartphones. They have done in NA what Xiaomi have not with there flagship smart phones. Too bad MiMix....
I'm big into 5g, because anything that is faster is better.
My first OnePlus was the 8T 5g phone. It connected to 5g like any other NA smartphone homologated for my network (Canada). It was fast, and it worked right out of the box for 5g.
I soon upgraded to the OnePlus 9 pro 5g, and right out of the it would not acknowledge not connect to 5g. Ugh! I soon updated the stock firmware and found some work around by modding a file so that the 9 pro would connect to 5g even after rebooting. 5g switching was not necessary. It wasn't that great, it was faster than 4g, but lagged behind in raw speed compared to the 8t 5g (as well as my RAZR 5g, and my son's iPhone 13 pro max). I soon lost the ability to use the modified 5g band file with subsequent firmware updates. So i reverted to the PlayStore app 5g switcher. Still, not the greatest 5g in terms of speed. I know our network up in metropolitan Canada is strong, just was disappointed.
I'm now using the OnePlus 10 pro 5g with the 5g switcher app and i must say the speed and performance on 5g is way better than the OnePlus 9 pro 5g. I guess that one extra 5g band makes all the difference in the world in terms of consistent and fast download speeds.
I would rate the 10 pro a slight notch better in terms of 5g speed over the 8T 5g, and several notches above the 9 pro.
If your looking to make the switch because of the speed on 5g, you cannot compare the two. 10 pro is the way to go. I must also say that the OxygenOS is alot smoother on the 10 pro over the 9 pro (not enough of a reason to upgrade), why is that? And the extra 500mAH of battery capacity the 10 pro has on the 9 pro can get you through a day with less battery anxiety (I sound like one of those EV owners) which in my books is always another feather in the hat to upgrade to the 10 pro over the 9 pro.
Cheers

Unfortunately the OnePlus 10 Pro does not come with a UW band mm wave radio. The OnePlus 9 Pro does. So possibly because your in Canada you don't get UW mm wave ?
So I purchased a Redmi note off eBay a few days ago. The seller believes it's a 11se, but I think it's just a 10 5g.
It's OK. Compare models on https://phonedb.net

Chinese 10 5G is the same with 11 SE. Xiaomi just updated design and selling it as a new model.
