Question Changing the ROM from stable to weekly - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Hi Everybody,
would you please explain what is the difference between stable ROM version and weekly version, i am using MI 11 ultra, and i have the stable version 12.5.7 and i want to try the weekly ROM version as the actual version have problems.
if possible to change the versions between stable and weekly, i would like to know the way how to do it?
thank you all !

Data wipe and flash it but not worth it imo
Too many bugs in the weekly unless you're really impatient to try some new latest feature I wouldn't bother

I'm on the weekly and have had nothing to stop me using my phone as a daily. Yes, sometimes there may be an app with the wrong text or a function that goes missing but that's all. Everything works as it should. Unless you have used the weekly for a couple of phones, you will never know how few bugs there are. It's not like the releases are alpha versions, they've been well tested before getting to a beta release, so don't be put off by people who have never tried it because they have heard something.
Unfortunately yes, you will need to format data after first flash but just a dalvik wipe after each update after just like stable.
The reason you must format data is that the two different branches, stable and weekly ( and between stock Chinese, global or EEA versions) may have different partition differences between them, so if you don't format data, you may not be able to boot, hence getting a boot loop. Just make sure you have a good data back up using Xiaomi cloud or such like.

Upgrade to Pie Global Beta from Global stable (locked bl)

Is it possible? I could on Mix 2s easily via recovery.
It is possible. You have to download the latest Oreo based beta version, which is MIUI 8.9.7, and install this package via the software update section in the settings. Once you are on the Oreo beta, you'll get the newest beta via the software updater.

I can confirm that it works. Started from Global stable 10.0.3.0, flashed the global beta 8.9.7 and then updated to beta 8.10.25 and the last step was to beta 10.11.2

I think you can't because the beta versions are based on Pie and the stable on Orea, so i suppose the ARB can give you some problems

the beta version stable doesn't exist. Beta or stable. I prefer beta because i have weekly updates, more functions, and more bugs solved
And how is the battery? Better or worse?
Now that the last stable version is based on Pie, do you think it's possible to go back from Dev Rom to stable?

Oh i didn't notice that the global stable is on Pie too now. The ARB function allows to flash same versions of Android, so i think you can

Hi @ricpicpr, what is best way to run Global beta, with twrp and root? In my theory is the always before install new beta, flash back stock boot.img, than install update and than again flash twrp and root. Is it correct?

Well im trying to understand this, because since my Mi8 is unlocked and rooted for the first time i have to update it with the weekly update. I received OTA notification and i have downloaded the OTA update (8.12.7) but when i confirm to Updater to apply the weekly update my phone restarted in twrp and the update failed. So yes maybe the way is to restore the original recoevery, flash the last weekly version and then flash twrp and root (with magisk in my case): I don't like very this, a bit too complicated but for now i can't imagine better and shorter ways

What do you think about recoveries which are posted on miui forums. I don't remember names and don't have read entire threads but from my understanding this recoveries are able install "update".zips. This friday come my Mi8, I know about +1 month for unlock bootloader, but I want to be informed and be ready

If you have TWRP, you can just install the FULL ROM ZIP of betas or stable and flash with TWRP without issues. Just download them from the official XIAOMI website. You cannot install the incremental updates that come from the internal ROM updater software. It only downloads the difference in the ROM versions, and it will fail because files that need patched have changed and fail the validation process. You might have to re-root and install the recovery after you flash.

I'm worried about coming back from beta to stable. As I read on web with ARB u can't make downgrade (from newest version to older). So in my theory is possible to came back from beta to stable just in one case and that is little bit...
Example:
Last beta version was released on sunday 15.5.2018
Last stable version WILL/WAS be relesed thursday 19.5.2018
So u have 2 days for make jump from beta to stable because on next sunday 22.5.2018 will be released another beta which will be again newest than last stable version or dont make any update of beta after release stable version.
Ofcourse I can be wrong

Uhm...i think the ARB check the Android version only. So if you are on Pie you can't go back to Oreo. Only this

We need to check the ARB index of the our installed Rom and the ARB index of the Rom we want to install

guys i need a stable Rom

Guys pls guide me to any Stable bug free Rom for my Mi 9.
need as a daily driver,
thank you.
peace!!
Xiaomi.eu rom miui 12 or miui mix they are miui 12 sure but they are really stable
None is bug free, but all stable ROMs are stable by definition of stable that we have all agreed (which if you don't, find out and read).

I never really have any stopper with MIUI EU stable, be it 11 or 12. Adjustments might be required, though, as permissions are fundamentally different in MIUI 12, but that's all.
Stock global miui 11 rom is the most stable and error free.
try DerpFest latest release
If you are looking for a flash and forget rom, I highly suggest Paranoid Android or Project 404. Both have amazing battery life and pass Safety net out of the box.
I've been running the Xiaomi.eu 20.3.26 Beta since 3/26 because it's extremely stable and almost entirely bug-free. The only problems I've found in the 5 months I've been running it is that NFC on/off and individual app full-screen toggles are not preserved after a reboot, but I rarely reboot it anyway (I'm running a Crux, so it may not be identical).

Changes after last masik release

Have there been any major changes after the last masik version in miui. I'm still on masik last version and development has stopped. I'm wondering if I need to change to eu rom
I haven't used all latest versions but i did use miui mix rom 20.12.02 and not sure what are the very big changes but maybe if u are ok with masik and do not have any issues stick to it as i have seen people complain about lots of bugs in lat xiaomi.eu rom.
I guess android 11 is soon coming to k20p on miui if u are ok on masik rom then keep on that and change rom once a11 comes out maybe wait until that.

yeah forgot to mention that the new launcher now has that vertical recents menu instead of that old one if u want that then maybe install latest alpha launcher on masik most probably should work if u need that.

Question Revert to original Chinese stock firmware from EU ROM

Does anybody know if you were to revert back to the phones original firmware (Chinese) from the EU ROM would it be possible to relock the bootloader safely. Thought I heard that this wasn't possible but now I'm not sure as this was some time ago.
Yu can, by using song miflash. BUT only with the firmware wat was on it... So global phone can't get locked with CN build and vice versa
After posting it seems some people have problems with Google syncing and such so for for someone paid someone not in China maybe it's not the best option for someone outside China.
I'm using the weekly beta CN version (A12) for months now and didn't have any issues. Syncing works without problems and since I disabled (removed) the powerkeeper all messages arrive on time. Let's say with my kind of phone usage I didn't have any problems or heat ups. Therefore using as daily driver and didn't regret it.
Also tried .eu, GLOBAL and EEA versions. But always came back to the CN weekly one.
Great, so is the weekly Chinese A12 already up to MIUI 13? Maybe I'll just go ahead and give it a try.

I'm using the weekly/daily from here:
[PORT] BETA MIUI A12
Good afternoon The XD team (Xyen and Dargonswim) has managed to port the Chinese betas with Android 12 for anyone who wants to test it. You only need to have the bootloader open. Installation (FASTBOOT): - Enter fastboot mode (vol - and...
forum.xda-developers.com
Never had an issue with it. But if you are coming from another version I strongly recommend to do a "full install with wipe" the first time. Otherwise you will run into issues here and there. In worst case just get into bootloop. So backup and use the first version from install.bat with wipe.
From 27.12.2021 on it is already on MiUi 13 "beta". But you won't see really a difference. The MiUi in use here might be more in the background. But no visible change from the weekly/daily 12.5.

General Fastboot vs TWRP

Hey folks
Am i the only one in here wating for a new TWRP version to get the new miui13 release?
While im waiting i think the miui13 must me most possible stable... Other ones out there and why.
Better be safe and secure having my stable eu rom...
Big thx to the xiaomi eu team, for all your work btw
There is no twrp working with A12, so it's a fastboot install only for now on weekly stock / EU or stable miui13 when it comes.

Exactly what i wrote yes
Precisely, but it will come, but noone knows when.
But not everyone want something which not is rock solid stable yet (miui13) or atleast as stable as miui 12.5.20 is.
