Redmi 9 Increase Max Brightness - Redmi 9 / Poco M2 Questions & Answers

So I have got this redmi 9 3/32. its a really good phone for the price but the screen peak brightness leaves a lot to be desired, its too low for outside usage. Is there anyway i can raise the max brightness. i am running PixelPlusUI 3,6.

I play Asphalt 9 for 1-2 hours daily... Never seen as much heat...
55C CPU, I think it's normal in gaming.

Overall speed

Would you say that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

Well, the snapdragon version seemed a bit laggy compared to the Exynos device. Interesting, isn't it?
Testing them for almost 2 weeks now...

Long time performance seems to be better with medium power saving since the Exynos 990 tend to throttle by heat when set to optimized or high performance.
Medium power saving that lower the processor speed to 70% seems to produce less heat which preserve great performance and battery life.
Therefore, the Exynos 990 is pretty good when in medium power saving.
Very fast

Heavy use endurance

Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra's battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.

Really great! With the right settings 8 hours of SOT is possible.

Mind sharing that right settings?

Sure! Here is what I would recommend to try and get 8 hours SOT (without gaming).....
- Medium Battery Power Saving Mode
- Brightness: 30% Manual
- Haptic Touch Disabled
- Haptic Typing Disabled
- Always On Display enabled for tap to show with adaptive brightness off and manual brightness set to minimum
- Dark Theme
- Viibrations for Calls and Notifications off, only sound or silent
- Phone setup clean with out using app backup when setting up the phone
- make sure on the most recent August Security Patch
With those settings even with adaptive 120hz and FHD+ it should still be possible with 8+ Hours SOT.
Snapdragon or exynos?
During the 3 days I borrowed the N20U, I was getting around 4hrs 30mins SOT with heavy usage throughout the day, taking pictures, browsing the web/internet/reddit, youtube, a little bit of light gaming (pirates outlaws, night of the moon, windrunner), listening to music, and installing/upgrading apps etc...
I'm going to borrow it for another 3 days to see the best SOT I can get without having to resort to lessening the brightness below 50%, and with 120hz enabled
GSMArena's endurance rating of N20 Ultra is 88h, Note 10+ is 107h, Note 9 is 97. WTF samsung!
Edit: Currently have all these devices and my experience seems proving that relatively these endurance ratings are correct. Kinda regret buying the N20 Utra.
Battery use will vary depending on how each person uses their device even turning off so many things and limiting things signal also comes into play. I could limit all the things mentioned and still not get to the Holygrail of 8hrs screen time because I know the signal where I live duck's. So yeah those things help but it really depends on how each of us uses our devices..location..data and all those things factor into it not just turning everything down or off.

Coming back to Samsung from an iphone, once again I have battery anxiety. Device is fantastic but battery life sucks for me. N20U.

Agreed. In fact, coming from ANY decent battery phone (such as my P30 Pro) will give battery anxiety. I've just give up on Samsung phone battery life, and have decided to purchase wireless chargers everywhere (all rooms in my house, office, car, etc...) I'll also carry an extra phone or two so I can switch sims when I'm in a jam lol.

Question Why is AOD such a battery hog on this phone??

I've tried several roms...... stock, xioami.eu, miuimix, LineageOS and Octavi OS and on all of them AOD uses an extreme amount of battery.
I'm comparing it to my Pixel 4a 5G running LineageOS. On that phone AOD uses more battery than no AOD obviously, but it's not a huge battery hog like on this phone.
Any ideas why AOD on the Note 10 Pro is so heavy on battery?
Pixel 4a optimized well that's because it's older than Redmi note 10 pro. the development of redmi note 10 pro at the beginning so be patient.
besides, Pixel 4a came with OLED display & Redmi note 10 pro came with SUPER AMOLED which is consumes more power than OLED.
Screen refreshes at 120hz even on aod, thats where the problem is.

General I got 12 Pro and still have the 11T Pro.

I recently got a new 12 Pro as I hoped Xiaomi fixed the screen and proximity issues from 11T Pro. The 11T Pro is a great phone, the issues I had was a lazy proximity screen sensor which just didn't operate as smooth as an iPhone or Galaxy. No other flaws. So I decided to go with a 12 Pro looking for that screen improvement and a better proximity sensor.
The 12 Pro is everything 11T Pro is, except it does have a better screen more pixels, better colours, resolution and fingerprint recognition that instantly wakes the screen as soon as you touch it!
But still I can get over it that the difference in these two phones is minimal. Genuinely 11T Pro is a monster phone with great components and even better price. If I knew what I was getting, I probably would have stuck with 11T Pro as, 12 Pro is certainly not worth buying of you are coming from 11Tp.
So far from my own tests and checks, 11T Pro tops 12 Pro in every aspect, speed, opening of apps, images and videos rendering which I find a bit disappointed that older phone performs better them a new flagship.
For your info I attached a few screenshot from Antutu Benchmark and Geekbench tests.
So you got what you wanted?
The chipsets are nearing their thermal limits; faster processors, 5G and variable refresh rate displays use more mAh and generate more heat as a byproduct. The area to dissipate this thermal load is largely fixed by the dimensions of the device means hotter running devices. Not a pretty picture when you consider the implications.
Worse accurate color calibration of variable refresh rate displays is imperfect, there are simple too many variables. If color calibration is off, the gamma correction gets skewed even more.
Xiaomi probably had room for improvement with their displays. Samsung's display performance in terms of color rendering accuracy zenithed with the Note 10+.
At least you got a better display.
Samsung's S22U can't offer me that or SOT that's better even with a larger 700 mAh battery. It is a buttery smooth better hand warmer though
Sometimes hardware upgrades aren't a good option...
I also have both phones and I completely agree with nothing you said.

It depends on the usage and I'm using a Xiaomi EU rom.
blackhawkexplained the why and how very well.
Xiaomi Eu rom, same apps same usage.
Poco f2 pro Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 4700mHa +/- 38 hours/ AOSP +/- 48 hours
11 T pro Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5000 mHa +/- 35 hours
12 pro Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 4600 mHa +/- 30 hours
Sony Xperia J(st26) Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 1750 mHa +/- 15 days
Thanks for that.
I'm also using latest Xiaomi. EU ROM on my 12.
11T pro is still on the global ROM
I find the 12 is really heavy on the battery for pretty much very same task and style of usage in comparison to 11T. The battery gets to 25% by mid day while this never occurred with 11T. ( That would be at least around 50%)
According to battery app what seems to drain the batteries on the 12 is the screen! Although I don't have display on,60hz only, etc .

it is possible that this will be fixed with the optimization updates of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 .
Also the battery saver setting set to "close apps after 10 minutes works randomly".
I use a 30w charger.

There are reports here that the latest beta release from Samsung greatly improved the S22U's performance. Global power management tends to cause erratic behaviors of most devices especially bluetooth apps.
