Spotty service with latest build. - Sony Xperia 1 II Questions & Answers

Well I started having weird data loss while having full signal indicator. Anyone else experiencing this on TMobile? A reboot would make the data work again. Want to see if it's just me or a widespread issue.

[Q] Problem with signal bars in AOSP ICS v3

(Screenshot attached at bottom)
Hi,
For some reason, the reported signal strength is completely wrong. This doesn't effect calls or anything but it will always show that I have full signal.
When I go into settings you can see that the value reported is very very high as well.
Due to my low post count, I can't ask in the actual thread but I did I search and no one else seems to have the problem.
I've tried a full wipe, and flashing the latest radio (LP1) but problem persists.
Does anyone else have a similar problem, or know of a fix ?
Well it says you are on GPRS which I don't think would have very good signal? But you should know that AOSP roms show your DATA signal on the bars.

I've just walked outside where I get full 3G, and the problem still persists.
Confused as to what is causing it!

[ROM] CM Snapshots - Targa

I only use CM Snapshots, and I wanted a CM snapshot-only thread for the BIONIC.
M7 was an awful ROM and that is why I couldn't wait for M8. I like M8, but it does have some issues. Here are some of the more annoying bugs:
- "No APN specified" error
- LTE connection is poor
I'm getting 3G in areas that I know have LTE. I'm not sure why.
Make sure its on global and sim/ruim.

I've been on global and NV maybe that's part of my problem with the constantly getting orange bars. I'm getting it like crazy all week on all kk Roms because I'm in Chicago this week. I'm ready to go back to 4.2.2 and stay.
I've been on the m9 snapshot since it was released. I'm still noticing a poor connection. It doesn't get 4GLTE in an area where it use to have a solid 4GLTE connection. There are areas where I have no connection at all. However, these are the same areas where I use to have a solid connection.
I've tried Global and LTE in the settings. I've tried NV and SIM, but I still can't get the good connection.
My other verizon phone gets a solid 4GLTE.
I've tried full wipes and fresh installs.
I may try another ROM that isn't CM based if I can't get this figured out. Anyone else having connection issues with the latest M9 snapshot?

I've had nothing but problems with kk roms connecting. I might have figured it out but I have to run it for a few days to make sure. I backed up my apn data from stock and restored it into liquid. So far no orange bars. We'll see how tomorrow goes.
Update: with the apn restored from stock I've been able to avoid any of the data issues I had before. I gave a brief description on the slim thread too but it definitely helped me.
I'm still having the APN issues and data drops on the M9 snapshot. Can the APN issue be fixed, or is an APN restore required?

I've been doing the apn procedure every time I switch roms. I don't notice near as many problems so I've just stuck with it.
I've been running M10 since it was released and I've had zero APN issues, and that's without doing the APN restore method. (knock on wood)
YouTube use to give me connection issues all the time. Almost with every video. I haven't experienced one connection issue with YouTube.
This release has been running great for me. I'll post additional comments if/when I run into any issues.
Thanks CM!

[Q] VoLTE intermittent

Has anyone else noticed that the phone will drop to 4G from LTE to make calls, and a reboot fixes it? This has happened to me, but I'm not sure if it was happening before the camera update.

[Q] Nexus 6 Random cellular signal loss

As the title says, Its been better now its worse, my mobile signal disappears leaving me from full strenght to empty triangle without any clear pattern. Calls, data, nothing works so its a geniune signal loss not a software bug. I was on LRX21O > LRX22C > LMY47D > LMY47I and latest is the worst.
I cant remember having this issue on 5.0 but early lolipop is plagued with bugs. Any ideas what might be going wrong and how to fix this? Its really frustrating....
thank you in advance community
I tend to have the same problem, but its only been mobile data for me, I have sprint.

I have a similar issue. When I attempt a phone call in my basement, I get "no carrier available". I can go upstairs/outside and initiate a call, go into the basement and the signal is fine. I suspect it is a radio problem that Google needs to fix. I also cannot send mms with photos-no matter where I am. Pretty darn frustrating for this over-priced phone.

General consensus is a software bug. Happens when switching between different LTE bands and different towers, regardless of carrier. Signal won't actually drop, but ASU jumps to 99, then corrects itself. This causes the signal bars to drop to zero, then back up, but signal stays connected the entire time. Would be nice to be able to revise the way that android reads that and not drop bars for it each time. Either that or have the ability to force to a particular band/tower to avoid the switch. Annoying, but looks worse than it actually is.

Sounds like you may have something else going on if you can't make calls.
I have the same issue and it cancel calls even when I'm talking. Before Google's updates for that bug called stagefright it was awesome and without problem but now it seems their update aren't match carriers datas.specially for us in Asian countries because our carriers have no contact with google
I have the same issue as this, and I asked before:

Signal Loss
Same problem with my Nexus 6P on Verizon. Cellular signal is lost and only restored by rebooting the phone. Happens 1-2 times daily. I'm on Android 7.0 build NBD91V.

Question Data issues

So when my battery hits around 40% and I'm outside where coverage isn't an issue my web page's just won't load. I get H to H+ data single but as soon as I do a phone restart in the very same spot/location I get 4g
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Try resetting network settings from the settings menu.
