Hi guys. Is there a simple way to change my phone's device ID (usa sprint) without rooting?

I have an unlocked MDA Vario with Qtek ROM on it. I'd like to flash the ROM to i-Mate ROM. Even though it's an unlocked phone, I've read that the operator ID must also be changed/reset, whatever to flash to another brand ROM.
Does an unlocked phone imply the operator ID is "unlocked" too?
Could you have an unlocked phone & still have a unique operator ID perventing a successful ROM flash?
Is there a tool to just "unlock" the operator ID?
Much thanks,
Craig
PS. I can't figure out how to update my profile to show I'm a Wizard phone owner. My profile shows my previous XDA I and XDA II phones but no selection to modify current phone. Anyone know how to modify this?
Hi everyone,
I need to go another country for a while...so i want to unlock my Bell Galaxy S.
If i come back, i want to relock it to keep the warranty.
I found this>>>
HOW TO LOCK SAMSUNG GALAXY S - FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES ONLY (TESTED)
After you get the NCK code using the method above, enter: *7465625*638*#
There will be a pop-up box.
Complete the first field (MCC/MNC) with the network you want your phone locked to (eg. 226 10 where 226 = romania; 10 = orange etc.) and the second field (Control Key) with the NCK extracted from the .bak file.
Press OK and your phone should relock.

in order to use the droid3 on gsm networks you need to unlock it, therefor you need the unlock code. changing the imei is an entirely different issue. just for curiosity? you want to circumvent the blocking of the device in turkey since its not registered?
is there any way to change the carrier from asia india to EU without unlocking the bootloader or rooting?
the goldcard method i found is for wwe ruu so it didn't work
What do you mean?
You mean change:
- the carrier who lock your phone (boot animation with the carrier's name)
- the carrier you're using for send/receive SMS
In the first case you MUST have a rooted phone and then install a new ROM
In the second you have to go into settings -> mobile network, and then you have to tap network operators and choose the carrier you want (and you can use)
the CID of the phone. My phone has a HTC India cid yet i live in EU(weird since i bought it from a good electronics store...) so i was wondering if i can change the CID of the phone without rooting(phone is still warranty, and i dont need root at least for now)
i know you need S-off+rooting to use supercid so that isnt an option.
i dont need to change,i just want to know if there is a way ,if not i can live with it.

There's not a way to change the CID without rooting your phone...
My Desire is in warranty too (I bought it on the 21th December) but I rooted it anyway

Old thread, but exactly my problem. I have a root though. How to change CID when rooted?
Hello Guys,
I am looking to purchase a LNIB Z1 very soon, and I was wondering if there are anything specific to look for other than the usual things like cosmetic damages, IMEI numbers matching up/not on the blacklist, etc.?
Anything that is specific to the Z1?
Thank you! Any help is much appreciated!
Check if the bootloader can be unlocked
Type *#*#SERVICE#*#* in the dialer > service info > configuration
Check under 'rooting status' if 'bootloader unlock allowed = YES'
If it says 'NO', then you can never unlock your bootloader and you can never install custom roms/custom kernels on it.
PS: r u buying a new one or a used one??
