Phone call problem

I have a very frustrating problem with my Samsung Captivate. Sometimes my mic stops working in the middle of a call but the call continues and i can hear the person on the call but they can't hear me. This generally happes at the same places so i suspect this is related to light somehow. Anybody have any idea what might this be related ?
Any help would be very appreciated.

Still no answers .. am i the only one who has this problem ? I just discovered if i put in a headphone into the mic jack and put out when this problem happens, it solves the problem and i can speak to the caller again. Any ideas what might this be about, is my phone defected or this is software related ?

Did you check to see if it was muted? I've had that happen once.

No it is not muted, the mic runs fine when i answer the call but turns off in the middle of the call and do not turn off whatever i do unless i put in and put out a headphone to the mic port

My mom had this problem. I did what you did and she hasn't had the problem since. Not sure what else to do.

Everytime i get or make a call i cant hear my "call-partner"...when i turn speaker on i can hear him perfect! He can hear me also perfect the whole time! When i click on Volume up it shows "Headphone volume" and the over the headphone i can my call-partner. So i guess my phone thinks the headphones are connected?! But... my media player works normally over my speakers and my phone rings, also....
pls help me out...its now almost 3 weeks, that i always have to make calls over the speaker and i flashed every possible firmware...from stock ginger to cyano to miui back to a ginger-rom and and and ....
now im on Miui, cause my phone also goes black during a call and on MIUI i can turn off my proximity sensor
somehow my phones sucks :/ but i love SGS !!

Maybe there is some trouble with your Headphone input detection. Have you tried to use a headphone with it? Do you have sound then?

Yes, when i put my headphones in, i can hear the voice of the "caller" and i can hear music....but when i put the headphones out again, i cant hear him.
So i thought, perhaps my phone thinks that there are always my headphones plugged in.... but my music player plays sound through the speakers....strange?!
whats going on?! is there a different phone.apk i could try? but i flashed many FW and nothing solved the problem...
or does an app exist here i can test my external ear speaker?!

I vaguely remember a CM7 issue wherein you had to toggle mute to trigger the voice to work on calls. I'm sure your problem is different, since it's happening across multitple firmwares, but it's food for thought.
I would have also assumed your phone was thinking headphones were plugged in when they weren't. But if music plays through the rear speaker just fine, this must not be the case.

Does nobody know a method or a app with what i can test my "Earspeaker" ?

I have the same issue with my i9000M and have been unable to determine the cause. There must be a way to completely wipe the phone and restore a stock ROM in order to reset whatever setting controls handset speaker volume.

psss... noone is looking??? it is top secter Samsung's procedure, do not share:
1. factory wipe
2. flash stock firmware
3. factory wipe

I've got this exact issue.. proximity sensor is also broken and locks up the phone. I disabled it with a patch - but my earpiece is non-functional on stock.
Ideas? Hardware defect?

HTC One sound bug - A "Click" when sound ends

Everytime a sound (no matter if music, video, when the music.video ends , the phone makes a single "clicking" sound. It sounds a bit like a camera shutter.
this problem stated like 3-4 days any idea what cause this problem its kind worrying me i hope there is a solution for that
Has anyone else reported or read about that bug? Goggle couldn't tell me
update: just did factory reset still same issue

anyone has this problem i checked on good found some one has same problem with htc one X model ..

That is normal. That is the sound the speakers make when the amp shuts down.

Microphone problem

Hi guys, anyone with problems to the mic? Works fine for hours and then it stars having serious trouble of "weird voice" and sometimes doesn't work at all. After a reboot everything restart working well...Very very annoying!

Mine too, in the first day! I had to restart. Coming from an iPhone, I was shocked (along with other irregularities) to the point, I think I might have to sell p20 pro.

I had a similar issue on my p20. As it seemed to be a software issue I went into the apps and notifications part of the settings. In here I went to permissions and changed what had permission to use the phone and microphone. I took permission off everything unless it was essential. It has since solved my problem but I am not entirely sure which thing caused the issue however I would guess at the Huawei apps that were trying to use them. Hope this helps with your problems

I have had 4 p20 pros in 6 weeks and all of them have mic issues. I live in London so signal has never been an issue but with these phones, most of the time indoors people cant hear me...its ridiculous. Nobody has a clue what to do....about to send the phone back for good but I really want it....any ideas?

After the last update, my Mate 10 pro, have the same mic issue. sometimes the other side dont ear nothing, and when im activate the hand free, fix

My p20 pro has same mic problem.. people endlessly can't hear me.....it's pathetic. It's a ****ing PHONE & people actually hearing you is fundamental..!!

Anyone found out what app i causing this or found a fix for it, other than a restart? I have this issue of stuttering chipmunk voice when i call someone or answer the phone or they just can't hear me at all. It also seems to happen when I record a video with the phones camera app. The video sound comes out all stuttered and chimpunk like again.

Hello, someone that have trouble whit p20 pro screen goes black when starting a call and you have to pusch the start button to get screen going again? Some one who knows how to solve this so the screen shows when start a call? The problem is that I can't cut the call when screen is black

Hell... I thought its only my phone's problem well its a bug. Some time whenever on incoming calls my speaker sounds like its damaged. Report it...

Yes I do have this problem as well. Sometimes it rings correctly otherwise it slows down the ringtone and distorts it. I did a factory reset as well.

Temporary solution is restart and dont know if factory reset works or not

Proximity is located far away from the earpiece.. U r gonna have to live with it

You should try to install custom rom or reinstall stock rom with fastboot.

WTH, I thought it was a problem with my A2. Right after Pie update I have had 2 issues, 1. Front camera was not working and 2. Speaker distortion during incoming call. Took it to service center who simply flashed a firmware and said both the problems will be solved, but they didn't, they said the front camera module needs to be changed and they didn't have in stock, took it to other service center who refused to login for service stating its just a software issue and will be solved by factory reset! Finally took it to a third service center who opened up and said "the camera connection was lose, and fixed both the issues", front cam was working fine but the speaker distortion was still there. Had to take it to the third service center one more time and replicate the problem there, then they took the phone and said they will be replacing the speaker under warranty, the mobile is still with them as we speak.
And interestingly, when I gave to them to fix the front camera, they reverted to 8.1 but the problem was still there. Wrong proximity sensor placement, yellow band, memory management issues (I can't clean the Chrome cache!), and all the bugs Pie brought in, the worst android phone I have ever owned till date.

I love how this phone falls to pieces slowly and we keep hoping for fixes but each iteration of an update introduces a new bug ... Mi A3 slowly shows up and still nothing : ))
