Hey guys,
I hope you can help me with my problem. I have it now about 1 month and I think I'll have to send my SGS to Samsung if you don't have any idea how to solve this problem.
About 1 month ago (a little bit after I installed arco's cm9, first released version) the phone always showed that it had an USB connection, it always said it was being charged and I couldn't change the USB-Connection-Type to Kies or Media Player. Because of this, I made a backup through CWM and reinstalled CM9 - but the problem was still there. Even after a full wipe of all partitions (system, data, caches) the problem was still there. So I restored a backup I made 3 month ago, where the problem definitely wasn't there. The restored ROM was CyMod. But still, the phone thought it was continual plugged in. Then I tested updating to a stock firmware with Kies - but the software failed doing it.
I thought I would just wait a little bit, because the problem may fix itself - and it partially did. Now, sometimes everything is normal, but the biggest part of the time it changes every second if the Phone is "plugged in" or not. And the bad thing about this is that it keeps the display running all the time. Sometimes, if I knock with the part where the USB-hardware is on my table, the problem is fixed, till I plug it in again or lay it down (even if I lay it down carefully).
So, is there any solution for this problem? I searched XDA Developers and almost the whole internet, but I didn't find anybody with the same problem.
It would be really cool if you could help me. If nobody of you has a solution, I simply send it so Samsung.
Thanks in advance, GC98
PS: Sorry for my bad english, but I learned english for 5 years now and never wrote a post like this before ^^

you try checking the USB port and follow cleaning advise http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571
If it is internal, this will give you an idea http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574211
Thanks for your really fast answer! You give me my hope back
Honestly, I didn't even think of cleaning it. I'll do it tomorrow, here in Germany it's a bit late. I'll let you know if it worked or not!
Sadly, it didn't work. Still the same error. I'll just send it to Samsung. But thanks for trying to help me!
My mum's Galaxy S I9000 keeps and rebooting randomly and can happen at any time such as during phone calls, viewing emails, texts, the lot! She is on gingerbread.bojv8 2.3.3 and i was wondering how i can stop it rebooting and whether rooting the phone and applying a custom rom could fix this? I have also realised that she cannot switch wifi on as it 'Error'.
If you give adivce to root it, please can you provide me with some thread links on tutorials and reliable rom's
Help would be muchly appreciated, many thanks,
Tom

Why don't you get the phone into recovery mode vol up + home bttn + power bttn then wipe cache partition and data/factory reset this will solve the problem but will delete all the phones data
If she sets up a Gmail account on the phone, her contacts and apps will be backed up online and will be reinstalled automatically during initial setup. Hope it helps.

Factory reset didnt alter it and neither did wiping cache partition in recovery, wifi still not working.
The phone just restarted 4 times in the last few minutes and turns itself back on when manually turned off!
Please help!?

My phone has the same problem...
Is Ur phone rooted?
If my post helped, don't mind hitting THANKS
If still under warranty no sense messing with it. I would take it to a shop/service center before trying to root or install custom rom. If factory reset and clearing cache hasn't helped a custom rom probably won't.

no it isnt
My Galaxy has beed doing it allmost from day 1. I did get it fresh from beginning with Froyo (if my memory serves my correctly) and then it was like - "its ok - wait Gingie to come ant that solves problem". Gingie came - problems did NOT solve. Opted for rooting - bricked the phone. Was lucky - carrier changed the phone - telling me that "motherboard was faulty and needed to change. Afterwards did check numbers (I know - i am little paranoic) - number where the same - so they probably just but fresh rom or something like this.
It was OK like few weeks - then it started again - random reboots every imaginable time - - doing something - not doing something. Just few minutes back - phone was sitting on the table - doing nothing and then - BABAHH - reboot.
I have tried mostly everthing - keeped it squiicky clean - no added apps, no added info - even not synced (no google, no live, no yahoo or whatever) - dialed numbers from paper and so one - no differences. Some day it rebooted few times, then few days it did not. I have tried allmost ALL launchers (Go, ADW, Holo, EZ etc - GO and EZ are the best - others lagging far behind) including this HOLO derivative modded TouchWiz - it did not installed. All versions from this forum give same answer - file error something.
I have a feeling that this is the crappiest phone/soft ever in the world.
Did use Dell AXIM (X5 and x51v) as a phone starting in 2002 - no problems - sorry one problem - BATTERY. Then did get ASUS P750 - no problem (was not very user friendly but worked SOLID) - battery lasted once when listening music 9 hours on row - ok screen was out - but still. Now I am so pissed off that will ditch Android as crappiest sh1t and smsung as crappiest hardware and will get Lumia 920.
It has 2 compoents that basically never failed my - Nokia phone (I allways had 2 numbers and second was allways Nokia). Nokia soft aint best but hardware is solid - (love my X2 - best phone ever) and when combining with Windows mobile it should be like manna from heaven for the phone hell from that this last 2 years are cousing my - "thanks" for android and smsung.
As for those restarts/reboots I have looking for problems roots and it seams that problem originating from BT/3G/WiFi hardware. They have some kind of incompatibility problem with android. When in flight mode then phone can go like a week with no restarts. As soon those are on (can You imagine using phone WITHOUT 3G or basic phone function?!) turned on restarts will happen. Google and Samsung know that but they scrubbing net from that information. When i started looking in to it more then year ago then i find some stories about that. Saved the links but after few weeks non of them worked any more.
I have few gollegues using Galaxy as well (S+, S2, S3 and few others) and ALL of them telling me that this random rebooting is a issue. Some model little less some more.
If some one has some kind solutions let me know - maybe some other persons find it here to and this can help them to.
Thanks.
Thanks for the information, just have to put up with it i guess!
Well I can help you with rooting and applying custom ROM
it might solve your problem!!

So far I know custom roms did not solve the problem totally.
Some phones have less reboots but they did not go away totally.
I guess something is very wrong with this phone physically.
I have "romming" and "rooting" more then once and more then one phone.
(Starting from my "beloved" DELL AXIM x51v and ASUS P750  )
But this one is like messenger from techno hell. Did rooting for 3 phone
for my coworkers and few for the family (Gal S+, Gal Y, SII) and all of them
rooted nicely - just few drops of sweat now and then. So I dont want waste
any time on that "crapper".
If it dies before i get Lumia920 then I use Nokia X2.
I might grab Android Tab in future to replace my Bookees Cybook but no more android phones
Hey guys,
I bought an HTC One about 15 days ago. Within 2-3 days of using it, I started getting problems with the display screen. I suppose this problem was seen by few people who owned the HTC One X but I couldnt find any useful solutions in those formums hence im posting here.
This is what happens:
1. Whenever I receive a call, the screen goes black and doesnot turn on until I hang up the call. This effectively makes the device useless as a phone, as I can't see who is calling and also during call I cannot access the screen.
2. Sometimes, there is a delay with the power button. When I press the power button, the touchscreen becomes responsive but the display doesn't turn on.
The problem is, if I factory reset the device, it starts working perfectly again!! Again after about 2 days it starts the same problems.
So I thought it was a software issue and so, I got s-off and installed the GPE Rom on the device. 7 days passed, no problems. On the 8th day, the same problem occured again. And as earlier, factory resetting solved the problem.
Is this a software issue, hardware issue or something else I dont know about?
I have taken a video of the device malfunctioning, but I don't know if I can post it as an attachment.
Thanks in advance!

upload it on youtube and post the link.
And something else. Make a factory reset again and then don't install any apps. Does the error also occure?
Im new to XDA forums and hence the site does not allow me to post URLS. However I have uploaded the video to youtube.
If you put 'HTC One screen problem Aniruddha Joshi ' in the youtube search box, you will find my video.
Im sorry I couldnt think of any other way
I did not install anything out of the ordinary. Just updated the existing google apps and installed facebook, twitter and whatsapp! No crazy apks or unknown apps.
Also, once I factory reset the phone, it starts working perfectly and there is no way to know the time after which it starts giving problems again. Once it was 3 hours, once it was a week.
So I don't have any way to check if some app is causing the problems.

after seeing your video, I am even more confused. I really don't know what could cause this problem. But the fact, that I didn't have this issue and almost no other person too, makes me think about a hardware defect. But the randomness and that it only occures after several days don't support this theory. So the only thing we can do about his is basic troubleshooting.
- 1) Try to flash Cyanogenmod and try this mod for several days
- 2) Try another Rom, for example: Omni Rom
- 3) Try to use a different Kernel for GPE stock.
- 4) Use a RUU that matches for you
Sorry, I don't have any other ideas left! But after this troubleshooting we may get new information or gain some knowledge that allows us to determine the cause of this error more exactly!

The original device shipped with sense Rom. I flashed GPE to check if it was a software fault. But no luck. It gave the same problem although significantly later(about a week after I flashed it).
One more thing, I hope this gives some more information..
One time, I had rooted the device and installed a custom recovery. The phone was then working perfectly for about 4-5 days. and then later when I went ahead and unrooted the device, it immediately started giving problems. So I rooted it again hoping that the problem will go away, but no luck...the problem persisted. So, I had no option than to factory reset again, at which point it started working perfectly again.
This is all so bizarre, I have never seen something like this happen
This is just a theory, but is it possible that there is a problem with the hardware which gets triggered only on certain conditions, like some interrupt, or flag or something like that?
So until those conditions are not met, the device runs perfectly, and when they are, it starts giving issues.
Thats all i can think of as the reason.
well its clearly something youre installing if it is occuring after a few days, a root app which controls your sensor or brightness probably, do you have apps of that nature?

No I rooted the device but did not install any root apps...i unrooted the device to install the GPE Rom(not necessary i know, but it seemed like a proper way) and found that it started giving problems immediately. Can non-root regular apps also cause such problems? I had installed only a limited number of apps anyway, updated the pre installed apps, facebook, twitter, whatsapp, some games..thats it..nothing wierd..
Might be a Screen-Off max. frequency issue. Like the phone gets only 500Mhz in sleep mode at maximum. Which is to low for an incoming call. Could you install a app like Android Tuner or Trickster Mod to check your Screen-Off Max frequency. If it`s that low, set it to ~1000Mhz.

That is very stange indeed. As I don't know any other causes for this error than:
Underclocked CPU or/and GPU on screen off
Root application that controls the brightness
Hardware issue(But what would cause this???)
I can only advice you:
Since you are S OFF, take a RUU, and follow this guide and ****ing set back your device back to stock! Don't root it! Don't use custom kernels. Don't install any strange apps that may control your display brightness. SERIOUSLY! Don't install an app that controls brighness even if it works on a friends phone! Just don't!
And if you still get this issue: It is a hardware issue! If you followed step by step the instruction and if you did everything I told you to do, it HAS to be a hardware issue! The fact that the error didn't appear on GPE that fast is caused by the lower performance requierement by GPE! So I seriously have doubt that this issue is caused by a hardware defect. But it isn't impossible for sure. I just have the impression that you changed some system files and you didn't know what you were doing. This is NOT against you, but it seems to be a reasonable possibility because a factory doens't reset the /system partiton.
P.S.
I'd be very kind if you hit the thanks button since we, the community, are really trying to help you.

I will definitely follow your guide and try to troubleshoot the problem. I hope its not some hardware defect and I dont have to send the device to HTC. I've heard those guys are poor at customer service
Thanks a lot, you've been a great help!
Btw, I was trying to find that Thanks button since the first day, I just couldn't figure out where it was. I just did.

Yup try installing kernel and custom rom.
Remove the case and try ( i know this is stupid thing but can give it a try)

Hi folks,
Just new to the forum after it was recommended by a phone repair store here in the UK.
Hopefully someone can help, I'm a complete newbie to working on phones so please bare with me and I apologise if this has been covered. I have checked online and carried out a few possible fixes without joy.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920C.
It is rebooting/restarting randomly and sometimes completely switches itself off and doesn't turn back on unless I hold volume and power.
I have tried clearing cache on the Google services application, also in bootmode I have cleared the cache. I have tried a master reset amongst other things and nothing seems to cure the problem.
I thought it was maybe an issue with the battery or motherboard or if a new ROM should fix the issue.
Would you have any guidance for possible causes/fixes or if I can try any other methods to find the cause.
Finally can I add when I carried out a master reset the phone didn't appear to have the problems until I started updating all the apps, but can't pin it down to which. It could be the play services update as it's the first to update.
Many thanks
Chris

Are you on Stock Rom?
Anyway, at all, to Back Up and either Manual or Over Kies, you'll find Instructions for general Samsung Devices anyway, could help by restoring the OS.
You can also try to Revert it Back to Factory Settings.
Does it happen at a Certain Point of Discharging?
Have you tried to Charge it for 24H?
The above Point of Changing Battery is a Point.
I don't guess it'll light up in Flames like some other devices anyway...
hello guys
I have an issue on my S10 and thats just rebooting randomly, even sometimes when im not using it and its standby on the desk.
i search about it and saw someone elese have same problem, so i want to know what is the problem and how to fix it.
i found someone who fixed it with some solution at this topic but that is not my phone model :crying:
i just change my android version to 10 and its not fixed..
i tried home csc and csc files and even tried pit files too..
please hellllp
thanks
Did you try a data factory reset? It might be a hardware issue, I would take it to a local repair shop or contact Samsung on it.

get the factory firmware from sammobile.com and flash it in Odin. be sure to factory reset from within the settings first or the FRP might crop up. This is the nuclear bomb method that 99% of the time fixes any glitches caused by software. You might have a hardware issue, but this will help rule that out

I had this issue with rooted Android 9, too. But it it very strange you get this problem on Android 10 because the kernel panic problem is fixed there. When you are not rooted, you should not have this problem anyway. Try restore your software in Odin like the other users already suggested.

Please let me know if this has worked for you. I'm having a similar problem that only started when i updated to android 10.
I have a totally stock, Verizon S10. Never had a problem with it on 9. After updating i started noticing after about 8-12 hours phone starts getting very sluggish, gets hot, has trouble even doing processor intensive things like opening camera and taking a picture without it crashing back to the OneUI launcher. Launcher would show up blank and take 5-10 seconds to restore my icons and widgets. Lock Screen lags really bad and face rec hardly works if at all. Phone gets really hot and if i look at the CPUs (Antutu BM) they are usually all maxed out.
A reboot fixes everything and then it will be fine again for another 8-12 hours and then, like clockwork, it starts up again. I've done a factory reset with data restore. Didnt fix it. Did another one without data restore and it is still happening. Would an Odin flash be different than a factory reset from the settings menu?

I think I may be onto something. Do you have any battery monitoring apps? I had Accubattery, better battery stats, and gsam battery monitor installed. Gsam and BBS had battery_stats permissions granted via adb. I was beginning to wonder if they were causing some kind of memory drain so I wiped their data and uninstalled them. Immediately after that I rebooted and after 46 hours of uptime there was absolutely no problem. Phone flies and runs cool as ice.
I'm currently installing them one at a time and waiting 48 hours after each install to see if and when the problem comes back.

And I'd just like to add that when my phone starts acting up it gets worse and worse to the point it won't even unlock and go to the home screen. Then it will actually reboot itself. I assume it panicked because it just doesn't have enough ram to complete any tasks.
so maybe its about the battery for you? btw my problem still alive
Guys, I got the same problem, did you guys find a way to fix it? Just realised today that even the system data, i.e fingerprints have been corrupted, what exactly is happening and how to fix this, it has been driving me crazy for the past couple of months.
