I have lost all ability to use Google Pay all of a sudden.
My device is running stock O2 UK firmware, is not rooted, and the bootloader is locked.
Has anyone else seen this?

You aren't the only one.
I had that problem of the device not being certified suddenly since last month. Google Pay suddenly stopped working, and I checked play store and device certification is also not certified.
I did flash the SEA firmware compared to the original firmware that came with the device, which was the HK firmware. Not sure if that had anything to do with it.
If anybody has a clue as to why, please holler! No root, no unlocked bootloader. Stock SEA firmware ROM.
@lilkidz thanks for your reply.
I reflashed the phone a few days ago, and I'm still having this issue.
I switched my firmware from O2 UK to Customised UK to see if it made a difference, but its still the same issue with Google Pay
Again, no root, no unlocked bootloader. Just a stock rom.
So I wanted to update. I have no clue what happened, but just today, when I went to check if my phone was certified or not in the Play store, it showed that it was. I didn't do anything. It just changed.
I have customized sea firmware, and payment also stopped working, in addition to payment, the nfc module does not work...
Yeah, for me, I can use Google pay again. Without notice, I checked the device certification on the play store and it happens to be certified. I was able to add my cards again to google pay.
Same here, I contacted Sony and still waiting a reply

Only issue still is biometric with bank app, somehow bank thinks phone has bee. Altered....
All other biometric works.
My 1ii was a xqat52 and running now xqat51 with latest firmware OTA 58.1.A.5.441
New update toady over the air.
Successfully installed 58.1.A.5.474 now device is again not certified.loosing hope. And Google pay not working again.
Me too. Lol same update as above. Installed the update and few days later, my device is again not certified. It was working just fine yesterday. Today, got a message saying my device is not certified.. weird..
Let's see if things changes again by themselves . Lmk if yours changes status again.
Any updates? Did anyone find a solution to this.
SONY are saying to send the unit back to them for repair, and they would charge if found not to be their issue...
Might be the last sony I buy..

I have no problem with Google Pay the problem is you are not on your stock firmware. Return on the firmware your device shipped with and you will have no problems. Changing regions will cause this sometimes especially when switching from Asian to a European firmware

I sent it back to Sony, they flashed it back to stock xqat52, still had the same issue received OTA update 2 days later same problem still. Nothing installed left as it is. Used Xperia repair, same thing still. Safetynet cts match false.
Not rooted, bootloader not unlocked.
Fully factory reseted by Sony UK.
Google play store device not certified.
Don't know what else to do.

@xdamanu1000 Did you ever resolve this?
My phone fixed itself, but it then went back to not working.
Coincidently, my Netflix also doesn't work so there's definitely something weird going on, that the system thinks its rooted or something.

Never got it fixed officially.
Rooted and magisk all working the way I want it now.
Sony UK wasn't going to help and since I bought it outside Europe according to them, no warranty anyway so nothing to loose..
Wish I rooted earlier!

@xdamanu1000 fair enough.
I've raised a case with Sony Support UK.
Will provide updates on here.
Failing that I'll just root the device and go down the Magisk route.
Update 1:
Sony took my case, and after a bit of diagnosis they asked me to send the phone in for repair.
I sent it on Monday to SBE UK, who sent it back after 2 days.
Their repair form said "Fault resolved" but after setting up the phone again Google Pay still doesn't work
I've called Sony back, and I have to wait 2 working days for an escalation now.
Oh boy...

Lol,
This is what happened to me too
Fault found and repaired according to their report.
All they did was factory reset and I did that before using experiwhatever software on pc.
They then asked Sony Japan for their expert help.
Waited 3 months, then asked to send handset again .
Wasn't going to wait this long..
Rooted..
Never looked back

I have RMA'd 8 Nexus 4's. I have used every model except the 210k. I've noticed many improvements in build quality.
With the 302K, we got the little nubs and a more solid feel. Almost all of my Nexus 4's had creaking and build quality issues.
This 303K is perfect. The striping/banding problem with the display has been significantly reduced and the build quality is perfect.
This is the best Nexus 4 I've used. No problems at all. This will be my last RMA. I am keeping this one. :good:

For me, the RMA's have been extremely quick. They ship me a new device in two days flat.
can i check if your phone is rooted when you RMA? I called the nexus hotline and stupidly tell the officer that my phone is rooted with custom rom.
Initially he wanted to direct me to manufacturer then I told him that I will insist on RMA with play store as I am going to restore it back to stock and relock it.
So now he needs to let his specialist know to see if they can still allow me to RMA it.

oh so yr is rooted with custom rom and you reverted it to stock and relock.
They accepted all without any issues? I am worried that they will reject and I end up having 2 devices. Moreover, I am in SIngapore and i have to pay taxes for the faulty phone if play store rejects it.

Yep. No problems so far. I did the exact same procedure for every device. With some of them, I noticed a problem right away and didn't bother to do anything at all. I just called Google right away.

ah thats what I was thinking too.. its a developer device and they expect us not to root?
Was taken aback when the customer service officer says the warranty will be void and blah blah.. Guess I will wait till what the specialist instructs..
my Rev 10 212k powerbutton is failing on me.. zz
Yeah the one I ordered a late march was a 303k version as well, and nothing has gone wrong with mine yet.
ah crap. google play just replied and they are biting on the fact that I had tampered with my phone's software and voiding my warranty. I have written another long email hopefully they can allow me to just rma.
This is plain rubbish. A nexus device but dont allow root.
Does only nexus 4 from USA have this type of serial number?

When I bought my N4 on March 28th, it was also a 303K - and I grabbed it from my carrier rather than through Google Play (didn't want to wait for shipping, and it was only $7 more, so I decided it was worth the convenience). Also, it's one without the new little nubs. Aesthetically and functionally, it was absolutely perfect! Screen was beautiful, especially when using AOSPA with it's nicely tuned kernel. Still fragile, though, as it's first fall less than 2 feet did shatter the screen. To be fair, it hit concrete face-down, so I'm not really surprised it broke... and to answer hoangtungst, I got mine in Canada.

That sucks but to be brutally fair you can't argue really. They make no secret of the fact you void your warranty by rooting.
Sorry
Just out of interest would anyone pay a bit extra for a "true" dev phone in that the warranty remains intact for any software changes?
Thinking about it tho, that would leave lots of grey areas and loopholes, such as turning of thermal throttling and physically damaged the CPU etc.
Mine is a 302k, it doesn't squeak, it does not have nipples, and display is perfect. 303k just means produced in Korea in march 2013. I assume that more important is the hardware rev version, the external parts are subject to modifications without any advertisement, and they are just related to the end of old parts before starting using new ones...

You said that your power button is failing? Just tell them, how does a button failing have anything to do with a custom rom put on the device?
If you fried something in side the phone from overclocking etc then yeh I could get why they'd reject it.
Really 8? Why did you send the last one in? Cause you wanted nubs and a new lens? I highly doubt you got 8 defective units. So stupid

I had the exact same thought. I don't know of anyone who would have gone through the RMA process 8 times for legit reasons. You would move on to a different device long before you dealt with 8 RMA's. Google should have told you to pound sand when you requested the 4th RMA.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but this if my first unlocked/non-carrier phone. I've always been with Verizon and have grown accustomed to waiting 1+ years to get updates.
I just got my N6 on Friday and the latest OS version available is 5.0.1. I'm seeing news articles all over the place going back as far as early March saying that AT&T/Tmobile customers are getting 5.1.1 OTA updates. I was under the impression when I bought my N6, that because I'm buying a non-carrier/vanilla Google variant of the phone, I'd be one of the first to receive new Android updates, and that carriers would be the ones lagging behind. Yet it seems the exact opposite.
I'm currently running build LRX22C 5.0.1 on Cricket Wireless. Should I be expecting a new update any time soon, or are we required to manually flash it or something?

I received mine from Moto on Thursday of last week. Before putting in my VZW SIM, I connected to wifi and it updated me all the way to 5.1.1(in increments of course). I think in your case, your SIM(carrier) is what's limiting you from updating. Try pulling your SIM rebooting and check for updates. If that doesnt work, you can do a factory reset and leave your SIM out, connect to wifi then see if you get the updates. Since its a Nexus, you can always manually flash the latest.:good:

Thank you. I just shut down, pulled sim, turned back on and checked for updates. Not available unfortunately, still showing 5.0.1 to be the latest.
You mentioned you just got yours on Thursday - is Motorola just now starting to roll this update out or did you just happen to get yours Thursday for whatever reason?

I ordered the phone Sat night from Moto and received it last Thurs. I had been reading through the forums here and saw several mention about how to get the phone to update to the latest version so and soon as I opened the box, I turned the hotspot on from my other phone, connected the Nexus 6 to it via wifi and all the updates started downloading(5.01, 5.1, 5.1.1). I think the updates are controlled by Google then the carriers not Moto. Try suggestion #2 if you dont mind starting from scratch
all the updates get controlled by google, after carrier approval. but, google does not promise updates asap. they promise updates within 3 weeks. being a google play device, you'd get the no carrier update only on WiFi. and with it having the Verizon sim in it, it'll get an update after Verizon approves the update.

I just went up to Best Buy and bought an unlocked N6 without service. Comes without a SIM by default. I ran straight up to a Game Stop and bought service through Cricket Wireless and got a SIM from them.
For the record, I'm not a fan of Best Buy but all online retailers I could buy it from had tax in my state, so I figured I might as well skip waiting on shipping and just buy locally.

What's to stop people from not accepting this update just like the previous one? Unless it's a forced update it won't really change anything

When you reboot the device it will do the updates on one of the reboots. This is true even if you "delayed" the update.
There is a way to prevent the previous update (you can see on this forum). Unless they found a way around that work around good chances that the same work around would work for this update. I would recommend doing the work around now and before this update.
The work around for previous update. Hope this will work for this update too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-note-7/how-to/updated-limited-to-60-heres-fix-t3495293
I read someplace today that Samsung made a request to the makers of all package disablers on the Playstore to block the Note 7 from being able to take advantage of this... I'll try and find the article.
The one i found isnt supported by the playstore and still has the update packages. Look at the link JaguarXT posted
I highly doubt all the apps are getting on board. I used titanium to block a lot of samsung crap before this and I never got the last update and I won't get this update either.
According to what I read, T-Mobile will be pushing the update on December 27th, that's what CNET is reporting. It also mentions the dates for AT&T as well as Sprint.
Yep I got text from tmobile says starting 27 phone won't be able to charge so turn it in.
Looking like it's time to find a replacement, sadly nothing seems up to par
It will seem like a bold change from what I know and am used to but I'm considering the Honor 8. The specs don't seem to bad for the price point. But it's definitely not a Note 7. I was thinking about going back to the Note 5 but I don't even see it available on the T-Mobile website anymore.

That's because you had the good foresight to root, unlike some of us (pointing at myself). Samsung strong-armed all the package disabler devs on the Play Store to no longer block System apps! The way around it was then to purchase the new version anyway and obtain a license, uninstall, then side load an older version. But then in another update even that route was blocked by no longer granting licenses or something. Then someone provided another app independent of the Play Store to side load which is what is being referred to above. It's gotten nasty!!!! Our ranks will shrink further as those who are severely technically challenged fail to take measures to block this update. Personally, I can't help but wonder/worry if Sammy has some type of back door, but that's the conspiracy theorist in me, lol!

Gotta use my Samsung Rewards up as well... This really sux

Why? You should have just kept the Note7 until the S8 came out... now you have an obsolete phone in 3 months.
I still have the Note 7, the s7 edge worked out in my favor actually. They gave me a Gear VR and now when the next phone drops I'll give my wife the s7 edge. She still has an S5 so it will be a nice upgrade for her.
I'm lost dude. So I have the second version of the Note 7, you know, the one that was supposed to not malfunction. Model # SM-N930T with T-Mobile. OK, so my phone did receive the forced update that make my battery charge to only 60%, I was able to use ODIN and put back the stock firmware, I installed PACKAGE DISABLER PRO and blocked the necessary items needed so I am now at 100% battery life. How is it that we know that is still not enough to block this new update that is coming to cripple the Note 7??? Maybe we are still safe, or is it FACT that it WILL still be forced even though we have the updates and tmobile and Samsung items blocked? Also, with what I have explained, can my phone still be rooted and install a custom ROM or am I too late or second version of Note 7 it was never possible???? I'm not 100% sure but the steps with package disabler that you've done should allow you to not have to worry about the new update coming through, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
As for rooting you're out of luck, only the original firmware that shipped with the phone was rootable. After that, this is as good as it gets for us firmware wise
Thnx

thnx, much appreciated.
Hi guys,
I bought a K20 pro from an HK shop, I asked for a brand new sealed unit. Package arrived sealed but I suspected it may have been re sealed since the box is a bit ruined, also internally.
Also when I powered the phone on I immeadetely git a prompt fir updating Google Services, which, as far as I know should not be installed by default on a CN unit.
Your insight is really appreciated.
Thanks.

I also bought Chinese model with "global Version". Its nothing you should worry about. Flash EU Rom or one of the available custom Roms.

Thanks Pete, my ROM is in Chinese, my concern is that the phone has been opened and used, these guys use to install GP and sell the phones, but I asked for a sealed unit.
As Google Services were already installed I believe they resealed the package and sold it as factory sealed. I hate this.

The Chinese phones do come with Google services already installed and enabled. Everything else Google needs to be installed, but the services are there by default.

Sometimes they do not listen to your wishes. But there is nothing to worry about. Enjoy ur Phone!
Thanks for your input guys,
Yeah phone is ok, but the CN rom is a mess... I requested the bootloader unlock it will be done in a week. I ll test it a bit like this and on case I ll try a global rom.
Cheers
D.
Yes, original China phone don't have Google framework
Right I checked with the seller and he says, with a bit of an attitude, it is not possible, it was factory sealed.
He sent me a picture with his stock and they were all sealed like the one I got.
Maybe quality control on CN products isn t as a good as for the global ones, because the inside box looked terrible.
So yes, I ll keep the phone, I ll flash a global rom once I can unlock the bootloader, in a week.
At the moment I have a bit of an issue with the 4g connection switching back to H+ 4g isn t strong in my place but still it should be fine, the phone switches back to H+ as it is more powerful I guess.
Anyway I can make it stay on 4G even if the signal is poor?
Thanks

You can try changing the preferred network type to just LTE.
It's in the network settings. Then select mobile network and then select advanced. You should see the preferred network type setting, normally it's set to all types.
Hi all, I can affirmed and confirmed tht Chinese ROM do comes with Google Services under "System App Settings".
First update MIUI to the latest version. Now all you have to do is to install Google Play store, Google Account Manager, Google Play Services, Calendar Sync (enable Autostart), Contacts Sync (enable Autostart).
Google Play Services Frame work is also installed on latest Chinese ROM. You need to install Google calendar app and reboot the phone to sync in Mi Calendar. Now you can go to manage apps and "show all" delete almost all Chinese apps.
There is absolutely no need to install other ROMs unless you wanted to get rid of Mi Wallet, Mi pay and other apps tied to the ROM.
Thank you all for your input.
Last doubt, today I realized the black cover that was in the box is different from the one I see in the unboxing videos, the one which is open at the top and bottom.
Mine is instead all closing with holes for jack and pop up camera. It is still black but with no Redmi branding on it, there is no brand whatsoever.
Anybody got the same cover?
Thanks

The default case is a thin plastic case with soft texture feel, and not a slicon case as shown in your attachments.
China ROM packaging
yeah received exactly the same package, box was sealed (altough I am still unsure if it was resealed) but the case inside was the one I posted.
Maybe they changed the cases for some batches?
The case and the white bag where was placed seemed pretty much new.
Thanks,
D.

Shouldn't be a problem then!
Yeha it shouldn t but I am trying to establish if this was a brand new phone or not.
Thanks
So I have a galaxy note 9, and I've recently been using the s pen. because the touch screen hasn't been working all the time.. for instance, I can use the same part of the touch screen to open an app (lets say snapchat) for the same part of the screen it will stop working, then before you say its the app, ill get out of snapchat, to to my message app, and use my keyboard, and it will have the same issue, then ill get out of the app again, and touch where I was touching on the screen and it will work, I've managed to turn on the (show touches) in developer options, to show where its registering, and its not showing when I touch the keypad. I've tried to wipe this phone, I've tried to wipe the cache in recovery mode (its stock everything, stock recovery, stock operating system, and unrooted, and the bootloader is still locked) so I'm thinking it is a software malfunction, but I'm not 100% sure, because it sometimes registure as I touch somewhere else than I press, keep in mind (THIS IS WITHOUT S PEN) I would love if someone could help me to fix this issue, thank you soo very much if you want a video I can add a link to my google drive, where I can show you the issue

Try clearing the system cache then go into safe mode and check it again.
If it's not hardware, software and you did a factory reset (tested right after reset with nothing loaded*) it may be the firmware is corrupted, reflash to same version. This almost never happens, possibility of a rootkit**. If a reflash fails to fix it is hardware either the display or mobo.
*if you used SmartSwitch, factory reset again without using SmartSwitch. If it's working after that, hand load with care...
**Android 8 and lower are suspectable to the worm X-Helper. It can evade removal by worming out of the user partition. It's a nasty one. There's methods to remove it now without reflashing I believe.

I'm no expert but you can flash the same or latter official stock rom for the device without unlocking the bootloader.
My Galaxy Note 9 started doing the same thing 4 months ago. Some days it actually seems like its fixed but I mostly use the S-Pen instead. Its very inconvenient. I tried the safemode and I posted a few days ago in this forum asking about if I had to match the same base version. I was thinking about rooting it to see if that may fix the issue. Let me know how you make out. I can let you know if rooting the phone fixes mine. I sill need to figure out how to root mine because it is an AT&T phone from USA and seems the base version that is on mine is not all that popular based on m trying to find the matching base version firmware. Either way if you haven't figured out a fix for your by time I do the surgery on mine I will give you heads up on my success or failure to fix the screen issue.

Was it refurbished?.... I'm so upset.. just found out my phone was refurbished, the screen isn't original, the motherboard probably is original, the SIM card tray isnt original.. how I found this out, my phone back cover was blue and the body is black, so I decided to open the back cover, (yes I was careful) didn't break anything, and I found this sticker on the flex cable ( I will insert a picture of It), and it brought me to this site "mobile sentrix" where I found out I basically got scammed from a pawnshop selling to me for $200 such a scam, and I can't even return it because it's been well over a month now that I've had it, they would be like, "get out of my store" so I'm basically screwed..
This is the site that the screen came from that the pawnshop bought and sold as a fully working phone... I'm so upset
Keep in mind I'm not hating on that company, even if they scammed the pawnshop, I'm hating on the pawnshop that sold me that phone, and I tried to return it when I first paid for it, and showed him the problems and he got mad and said you get what you pay for and told me to get out of his pawnshop.. and I can sue him because it would caust way more to sue him than to get my money back, and I probably won't, I'd just get his shop shutdown, ughh

If in the us take him to small claims court. Their rules vary by state. Fees are low, and if you win he pays the court costs!
Small claims court is an informal setting and the judge gives leeway to the participants. A lawyer isn't needed. Be respectful and state the facts, any evidence helps your case.

But I feel they could use the fact that I took the phone *apart* to their advantage, and say I could have tampered with it, I can't prove that I bought it like this, the only thing I can prove is that the stickers are on the parts of the phone

Also what would I win? Just getting my money back? I honestly want more, cause I know I'm not the first person he's done this too, like I don't want more for me, I want like his business shutdown or something, or like to be told that he isn't able to do that, also he lied to me and said the phone was 8gb of ram, when it only has 6gb, and he didn't even let me touch the phone or look at it much till I paid for it, and it's a "as is" pawnshop, so if I had a problem after he basically is gonna say I couldn't bring it back
