Super new here, I tried searching for my problem but I may just be blind. Thanks in advance for taking the time to help out.
I've got an 06' BMW with a witson android head unit.
The issue I'm having is Bluetooth music audio quality. Oddly enough Bluetooth calling isn't a problem. The upper range of sound is distorting. Don't know if this makes a difference or not, it's connecting to an iphone *hides under table. If I listen to the radio or to a cd (like it's 1997 or something) I don't hear the issue.
I've gone into the factory settings, and adjusted the BT volume up and down and found no change. I've changed all of the volume options, and found no change. I've tried changing the amplifier settings as well and have found no change.
MCU version MCTB-KYD-V2.77
Android version 4.4.4_27082015
Kernel version 3.0.36+

Have you tried factory settings, and turning down BT master volume. Mine was set well above the others, which could cause issues when in higher volume ranges.
Yes, in fact I was super excited when I searched and found the factory settings code, and that the bt adjustment was in there. It was set to +18 I've since set it to 0 and saw no improvement.
I guess my question is this
Clearly, a setting isn't going to fix this, should I just install a new Bluetooth app, or is the Bluetooth app essential to the operating system and I should just install a new operating system??
HI
I have erisin 2046 and my bluetooth music is scratching hard.. quality is very bad
set the master volume down already in factorysettings (126) but nothing changed.
Sounds like a firmware update is required... maybe to android 5.1? If only people answered more often about doing them... (I have no idea how)
I have two units (MTCB KLD, MTCD KGL) and an old clarion HU with bluetooth.
This problem exists all three units. It's not a firmware problem, problably MCU related issue.
I was digging many forums about this, but I cannot find solution.
I have a MTCD unit which is functioning well but the BT streaming quality is quiet bad.
It's quiet easy to do an A and B comparison with our android units so it will be obvious but if you didn't know, you'd think it's ok.
I just think bluetooth streaming quality is generally bad if you don't use APTX
probably there is a problem with smartphone. When I using android one, there is no distorting in upper range. However, when I use iPhone SE, it's hard to hear distorting sound and quality is really bad.
I have the same problem. Very bad sounding, upper range is distorted. I've tried 3rd party Bluetooth apps, but it doesn't recognize the unit as having Bluetooth. Probably cause the Bluetooth chip is in the MCU, and is not actually part of the android software. That's my guess.
Does anyone know if a Bluetooth dongle to the USB will work? I have a spare one laying around.

The bluetooth module connected to the MCU.
The MCU provide the Bluetooth audio stream to the Android OS.
The Bluetooth app can control the BT module through the MCU.
So there isn't direct link between the android OS and the bluetooth module.
Sorry my bad english..

Yeah that's what I was trying to say, maybe we can switch out the Bluetooth module?

I tried, didn't work. I used a usb bluetooth dongle from my pc. Works on the pc, not on the unit. Maybe you will have better luck. Mine still sounds like garbage.
Here the same Problem! Very, very Bad.
Anyone had any luck with this topic? very annoying.

Audio streaming over Bluetooth App from my iPhone (say from Pandora) is noticeably worse quality than using an app on the HU (say, Pandora App on HU). Do not have this problem streaming to other HUs (like the one built into the Prius) or my previous GTA Kit.
Hi All,
I have purchase another Nokia 5, t-1024, and this one is giving me poor sound quality and call dropping when the phone is paired to a car via bluetooth. Is anyone else having these issues and any ideas on how to fix it? I have an early first model Nokia 5 and that is perfect with the same equipment.
Edit: Both are on Android 8 with march security patch
Cheers for the help.:crying:
There is Bluetooth audio settings in developer options, try changing those.

Hi guys,
I'm experiencing some odd issues getting bluetooth to work on my BMW Series 5, 2011. I've already used multiple devices over time, including most iPhones, Xiaomi, Pixel 2XL, etc, without any issues. My Note 9 is able to find my car's bluetooth device and apparently connects just fine, however, after requesting a couple of permissions it seems to struggle to maintain connection and then seems to keep frequently connecting/disconnecting.
I've already tried using a different "AVRCP Version" under Developer options, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. This is my first Samsung device, are there any frequent issues I may not be familiar with?
SM-N960F - Exynos
No root - up to date software
Cheers

Try to remove previously paired devices from your car, including this one and repair it.
You should leave the BT dev settings on their default as the phone is choosing the best based on the car's system.
Try also to go to Location's settings, improve location and disable always scanning of BT and Wifi.

Thank you, but unfortunately it didn't help. I even though it was due to being BT 5.0, but the Pixel 2 XL which I used before also had BT 5.0 and worked flawlessly. So weird
You might have to get a new car to go with the new phone

Don't be that person lol thats not helpful. I had these same issues when I owned the LG V20 and the only thing people did was mock my Bluetooth issues and told me to buy a new truck.

Lol... I'm sorry. If it makes you feel better I am having similar issues with my 2017 Audi A6. I have to constantly turn off my Bluetooth and turn it back on every time I get in my car to make it work.
I am having exactly the same issue with my 2011 330i. Connects then drops out. Phone says it is connected sometimes yet the signal strength icon on my car display flashes with no bars lit. I have unpaired and deleted the phone from the car but still will not work. I don't want to buy a new car either!!
Hi,
when I start my car, my phone doesn't connect automatically to my car bluetooth (mitsubishi ASX 2012) and doesn't play music from phone like all my old phones do.
If I make or receive a call, then the phone connects to my car, but when the call is over it disconnects again form the car.
I found a solution to this problem: on bluetooth "other setting" I select my car device and turn off "multimedia audio" option and after a few seconds turn on it again. In this way all works well, but I would like fix it permanently without my manual intervention every time.
I have MIUI Global 12.0.1.0. (QFKMIXM, android 10 QKQ1.190825.002) but this bug was already present on MIUI 11.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Same thing for me in my Honda, im on mortal os latest. It worked on stable build xiaomi.eu 12.0.2.0
Now i have to do the same trick as you or use an aosp rom it works perfectly there).
I have similar issue with hotspot turned on - as soon as i turn it on, it repeatedly disconnects my bluetooth devices, and also hotspot client connections.
it was present in MIUI 11, also is present in MIUI12, nothing helped, even full factory reset.
It was last time i bought xiaomi i think.
Try resetting / wiping wifi and BT settings from share/connections.
I have my device in Spanish so not sure how it's called in English

Same issue with my 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer! How annoying.
After trying all the suggestions listed, including turning the phone connection and media connection settings on both my phone and my car stereo off and on in various sequences, I've finally found a solution.
Go to developer options > networking > Bluetooth AVRCP version
The default setting is AVRCP 1.4, change it to AVRCP 1.5
This fixed it instantly for me.
Hope this helps anyone else with this issue :fingers-crossed:
Just got my pixel 5. When connecting to the car via Bluetooth it's not coming up in the car display what track it is and I'm unable to skip to next track using steering wheel controls. Worked perfectly fine on my Mate 20 pro. Any ideas please? It's driving me mad.
Have yours all connected correctly those that are trying it in cars? This is a deal breaker for me so if not a simple fix it's going back.
Same thing happened here, using Spotify. Weirdly it works on my Pixel 2 XL but not on my Pixel 5.
I've reached out to Google to try find out why. Glad it's not just mine at least.
I have just come across this thread before I posted my own. thank God I'm not the only one who is annoyed as I started to think I was going crazy.
This is an absolute deal breaker for me as well. OP what have you done in the meantime? Have you found a workaround? I have even tried downloading 3rd party bluetooth "manager" apps from the play store but had no luck.
Skip, restart, steering wheel functions don't work and options are greyed out on cars infotainment touch screen.
Didn't have this issue on Pixel 2 Android 10.
Yes i found a work around today after reading through many other forums about other phones.
Basically enable developer mode and then change the AVRCP Bluetooth version to 1.3. Turn off Bluetooth then back on again and hopefully yours will work like mine.
I'm not sure what this does or the disadvantage to doing this but I've found connection better this way also. Let me know how you get in.
You can thank android 11 for that.
I think that what is happening here is that some apps haven't yet caught up with changes and advances in the underlying subsystems in Android 11. One that has is VLC. It is working perfectly for me. (I've tried others that didn't so I'm sure this isn't a bug per se)
It's a little disappointing that more effort wasn't put into maintaining backwards compatibility. However, that can often be very difficult, and sometimes impossible, to achieve.
Personally, I don't think that reaching out to Google about this will do any good.

You are my absolute saviour! I didn't realise there was a way to revert the Bluetooth version. I thought I was just going to have to wait for a patch!

Thank you for this info. I'm not sure it's necessary, but I'd also recommend after changing this setting, reboot your phone and delete and re-pair the phone to your radio.
