Hello guys,
i recently upgraded note 8 battery and the battery life hasnt changed at all. I think i need to reset cycle counter as it says its 1436 and the battery doesnt charge to full voltage (max is 4.15). Im trying to delete/edit the texts in sys/class/power_supply/battery but i cant do anything. Ive tried with adb shell ( i am rooted on stock rom but i get operation not permited) and via in built terminal (same story) and lastly with a root browser/text editor and same story. The battery is new tested capacity is 3281 mah but on this phone is registered 2200. I totally need help
I've had the same experience, my battery life is the same after replacing the battery. My thoughts are that it's just the outdated OS not performing correctly with apps intended for newer OS.
The reported capacity doesn't effect the power consumption of the device.
Make sure the device has been compromised by a rootkit. Reflash if needed.
Turn off all power management if any.
Find the the battery hogs and deal with them on a case by case basis.
Karma Firewall's logging feature can be helpful in spotting some. Galaxy Battery Tracker is useful.
Cloud apps are prime suspects. If FB, WhatsApp etc are on the phone... time to take out the trash.

Hi.
I've recently bought a SIM-free Galaxy S3 LTE (GT-i9305) smartphone online. I've since changed the battery to an "extended life" 2550mAh one.
I still find the battery draining quick. At 6am its fully charged then by 10pm its down to less than 10%. On my other thread i indicated my normal everyday routine and what i use my phone for. I have had numerous Android phones in the past so i know which ones to turn off, etc.
I understand Chrome can be a drain on the battery so i have disabled it. I have heard of Knox (anti-virus/security) affects it as well but i am not able to uninstall it. I have installed a battery-saving/monitoring app Greenify but i feel it doesn't do anything. Sync is also turned off on my email and social stuff and i put my phone on Airplane mode if i'm at work as the signal tends to be almost zero inside the building.
I also understand the battery tends to improve after a few cycles of charges.
So, Is there anything else i'm missing here?
Please advice. Thanks.

I'm sorry that this is not helping but I have a similar issue.
My battery drains really quick too. It drains loads with screen off, and I get less than one hour of screen-on time. (with stock) It's been like this for a year, but it's getting worse. I get about three times this with the 7amp zerolemon like I should. Charging is super slow too. I'm really starting to this this is a hardware issue. And no, battery stats, wakelock detector, etc. show nothing. Do you recognize any of my problems?
You say you're using greenify, but have you actually tried greenifying apps? That didn't really cone across.
But what I would suggest would be to us betterbatterystats to check what may be the culprit. I assume you're on stock firmware? In which case I would suggest getting titanium backup to get rid of bloatware.
The last option I could think of would be to try out a factory reset to see if there is any improvement.
Is it just for me? After a full charge the screen on time is about 2 hours.. Tried cm11 and other custom roms without luck.. When i bought the phone and wasnt on KitKat the screen could pass 4hours. Huge different!
In battery info the only program that drain the battery is the system it self . any tips?
check your rom and kernel, any overclock setting is active.
check battery usage to find what drain your battery.
Mine have 4h30 - 6h screen on (just wifi, without mobile data)

No overclock set.. Just the system thats drains battery..
@colors Battery life isn't as good as I think it could have been but at completely stock and with nothing on the phone the phones battery is pretty phenomenal, an idle Z1 will stay on for over a week, infact i've seen some phones with 19 days before now quoted within stamina mode.
Just took a pic of one in my workplace and it's saying just over 19 days, that's not too bad for a phone which is always on and capable of receiving apps via wifi (see picture attached)
I know that 19 days is excessive and no one here is ever going to get anywhere near that or even a week, unless you don't use the phone, the problem most of us face is the apps that we use and their footprint on our phones, affecting battery life and performance.
Take a good look at your apps and what you use and see what you could do without or what could be affecting battery.
A clean install will usually give you great battery if theres nothing on the phone to slow it down, eliminating apps one by one might seem mundane but it's key to great battery life, after a while you'll learn whats bad and whats acceptable.
Using the likes of CM11 could cause even greater battery drain as it's all custom stuff, not to mention that some things within the system aren't working as good as they could be, there is still a lot of work before things are perfect, double tap to wake for example is a feature which could cause massive drain.
Always perform a full wipe and don't restore anything via recovery, leave it as a bare rom until you can verify the ROM you are using is without issue.
Hope this helps
I thought I might begin a thread for those who have general battery tips, experience with addons, and any other key info that can help some others with battery woes.
I've not had any real problems with battery life from the start-- mine seems to be getting better and better. But some of the reports out there have people with substantial battery problems. Here's what I've done to this point in regards to the battery, and I hope others can chime in with other useful stuff:
1. updated to latest firmware from STOCK via OTA. This OTA marked a clear improvement.
2. rooted
3. xposed installed, with these modules: App Settings, BootManager, Greenify, Unbounce (i think this one's key), Wanam (make sure you disable secure storage or you'll have freezing issues)
4. Titanium Backup to remove some bloat, mostly T-Mobile apps.
5. Look through greenify, unbounce, and bootmanager and filter out stuff that seems unnecessary or hogging resources
6. ALWAYS Let the phone drain to ~20%, and then fully charge to 100% using the adaptive rapid charge (this takes about 1 hour for me). It's important especially when breaking in a new battery, to cycle it properly.
I've seen pretty tremendous battery life since doing these steps, and allowing the system to settle in for a couple days. I suspect it's going to keep improving as the battery ramps up from usage. I have plenty of stuff still running in the background (Facebook, Viber, location, bluetooth for my Gear 2, Sync, NFC) Pretty happy with the last 24 hours especially. My phone is sim-unlocked and running on AT&T- this may play a part in reception and better battery life, but it may be irrelevant.
What are others experiences/steps/frozen/greenified/unbounced/BootManager(ed) etc... let us know!
edit: the attached thumbnail showing screen life, is with the battery at 52% as well
Wow those are some good stats brother
I just drained the first charge to 0 and charged it back up. I'm more than satisfied with the battery on this device!
I spent hours messing with the phone as evident by my screen on time and it just keeps going.

Any tweaks to accomplish that?
The only thing I did was disable all T-Mobile branded apps with the exception of the Mobile Hotspot app. All other bloatware is untouched and still on the phone.
I haven't rooted yet and most of the time on that charge cycle was spent on WiFi. I was trying to learn the phone again, so I was absolutely using it a lot.
The screen on time blew my mind and is the best of any phone I've had to date. Especially when you consider that it was on the first full charge.
The Battery life of my Galaxy S10 SM-G973U isn't really as good as I expected it to be. I bought it as a refurbished phone approximately 9 Months ago. When I fully charge the phone and then watch the battery voltage in for example Accubattery, it says 4.270V. However the charge voltage of the Battery is 4.35V. When I do the same on the Galaxy s7 the with the factory original battery, it says 4.35V. I once read that samsung does that in order to protect the battery when it gets older. But if that was the case, a battery replacement would be useless as the new battery would never get charged to 4.35V. Does everybody know if this is really the case and if there is a fix for this Limitation? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't worry about it. Monitor your SOT times. A heavily used (or abused) battery may need replaced every year. Just part of regular maintenance. When it gets to 80% of it original capacity replace it to prevent a failure.
Any swelling is a failure, replace immediately.
100% charges aren't desirable anyway...
Well my SOTs are around 3.5hours on a normal studying day and about 5h at the weekend with a lot of Youtube watching. They aren't bad but I see people with 5hours+ on normal usage and 8 hours with watching youtube. I just like to optimize and cant really reach the good SOTs.

I'd expect better SOT if optimized. Constant high current drain is harder on the battery as well as inconvenient.
For starters ditch trash apps like all social media apps, none should be installed. They are security risks and battery hogs.
Use manual brightness control and stay under 50%.
It seems you are having the same problem I had when I replaced the battery on my Galaxy S10+. AccuBattery tells me I only have 75% battery left. So I bought a new battery, replaced it. And the capacity was exactly the same. The battery was only charged to 4.18V max.
This is my solution:
- Back up your device with Samsung's "Smart Switch" Windows app
- Root your phone with these tutorials:
- Install Ghost commander, enable root access in it
- Go to /efs/FactoryApp/ and copy the batt_discharge_level file to your storage
- Edit the file and put the number 100 there (that means 1 battery cycle, you can change it to a bigger number if you have older battery)
- Copy the file back to /efs/FactoryApp/ replacing original one
- Change the owner of this file back to "system" and the group "log"
- Dial code *#9900# and reset the battery information there
- Reboot the phone (it should now charge at 4.35V)
- Unroot device by flashing original AP file, relock bootloader, disable OEM unlock
- Restore data with Smart Switch

Not worth all that trouble; under charging the battery will only increase its lifespan.
After replacement cycle 3 times from 100 to 20% to calibrate.
Never depend on SmartSwitch to backup critical data as it can fail you miserably. Always copy/paste critical files/folders instead.
Cycling from 100 to 20 will not help. Max charging voltage will be lower than 4.35V. Rooting is needed.

I try a forced reboot, clear system cache and there may be other options in hidden settings ie abd edits.
Rooting is overkill unless you want to root it to begin with. Win-win if so...
Thanks for your answers. The Problem is I don't want to root my device or play around with the Firmware because it's my main device. I was hoping that there's a way to reset the cycles without the need to root or reset the device. If that's not the case, I won't change anything to be on the safe side.
But I apprechiate you guys for the help and answers.
Hello everyone!
I recently bought the Samsung A33 5G, but I'm having battery problems and I don't know what it could be.
Using, for example, WhatsApp or Twitter I spend approximately 3% every 5 minutes using Wifi and with the brightness at 20%.
I have monitored the battery with apps like Battery Guru and AccuBattery but I have not seen anything strange. I have also tried to wipe the cache partition from the recovery and repair the apps but it has not improved either. I've also disabled battery optimization (seen it on reddit and some have found it helpful) but it still doesn't get any better. I replaced the phone but the problem persists.
Somebody can help me?
Thank you!
Battery consumption is strongly dependent on the size and type of screen, services used, distance from the GSM mast. There is a long way to go to get your phone to use less battery. For starters, try using a Wi-Fi connection for a while, without using GSM. The next step is to turn off LTE/5G and stay on a slow but less draining 2G/3G battery.
By the way, disable unnecessary services with Debloat Tool, mainly updates and sending notifications by applications that you do not need.
