I have the option to by the SM-G780G which is the Snapdragon 4G version of this phone for 400 EUR which is a great deal in Europe, but I'm not sure if 6GB RAM would be enough. I have the A52 5G with Snapdragon 750G with 6GB of RAM and can feel that it slows down when switching between a lot of applications, having Chrome with multiple tabs open, etc. I can't tell though if this is because of the CPU or the 6GB of RAM. I can see I always have 1GB of free RAM on my device.
I know usage varies and it heavily depends on what you exactly do on your phone but still I would like to hear from users of the device with 6GB of RAM how are they happy with the device in terms of RAM. Much appreciated.
Never can ever have too much memory or ram.
My N10+ running on Pie with no scoped storage nominally uses between 5.1-5.7 gb of ram.
Having a 6gb headroom cushion keeps it running fast. Even with the older less efficient ram 12gb has little effect on battery life. Newer ram is about 20% more efficient.
You can easily get by with 6gb but 8 or 12gb be better. I say max it out especially if you multitask.
every time I look I always have about 3gb of ram free and with the exception of a few apps I mostly leave stuff open and press home.
I've had heavy demanding games stay in memory for 24 hours no problem, but them I'm not a client app for everything type person.
I stop using Chrome a while ago. My FE 20 5G is always showing less than 4 GB used. It's fine switching among running apps. Occasionally, it will pause a bit.
If you can get good trade-in value, it's worth it. Although I wish the battery can last longer. I guess the 865 chip used in it is not as efficient as 7xx series. My SOT is good but not great.
I've had mine for a bit over 12 months and it's never been an issue. I normally have between 1-2gb free whenever I check. I'm not a huge mobile gamer though apart from the casual puzzle game when I'm bored. Unless you're always running heavy games/apps I don't think the average user would notice it.

I'm really tempted to order the Samsung S10 5G now from Verizon as it has just about everything I could hope for. Huge screen, huge battery (largest yet), great cameras, faster charging, etc. My only qualm is that the upcoming Note 10 5G may have 2 things I'm willing to pay for. That's UFS 3.0 and hopefully a 12GB of RAM option. I highly doubt that the Note 10 is going to have a bigger battery or even better Camera's. I also know that the next gen Snapdragon (865) that combines 2g to 5g with the X55 and power saving doesn't come out till early 2020 so there isn't too much to look forward to in the Note 10 5G with processing power. I know the Fold had UFS 3.0 and 12GB of RAM.
So what are the chances of the Note 10 getting UFS 3.0 and a 12GB variant?
Are any of you waiting for the same reasons?
What's your thoughts?
Appreciate your time.
Hope you got the s10 5G, either way, they're practically same phone, same specs, note 10 has its stylus, but the s10 5G has better battery, but the note 10 is cheaper

Note 10 is cheaper? It's not available on Note 10 first of all, only on Note 10+. Battery is 45W fast charging and 20W wireless, so 200 mAh less but will charge faster, not sure it's "better". Finally 12GB RAM and SD card expansion, NOT the same phone at all.
I have the S10 5G. Pre-ordered the Note 10+ 5G. Totally don't know what to do. I feel the only real advantage for my S10 is the headphone jack I never use. Battery is great, but I don't have an issue charging throughout the day, so I'm good with a touch smaller. I think the 12GB of RAM in the Note is huge. I understand the Note's stereo speakers kill the S10s. Looking for a video review from someone, haven't seen anything yet.

How is it an advantage if you never use it? Agree with the 12GB of RAM along with SD card expansion.....
I hope Sam gives us users a TOF face unlock at some point. Also the updated DeX I'm sure someone will rip it, and be able to install in the s105G along with the gaming streaming
Only thing about the new note is what 5g chip they decide to put in it. There is no 5g in my area I'm sure there wont be for sometime. I got this phone for the bigger screen mostly along with the TOF on the front.
I do use my 3.5 jack all the time. I do wish it had an SD card.
I wish there was a ribbin cable that connected to usb-c with a female input for charging. That way you could just hide a SD card inside your case. I looked all over the net no one has ever made such a thing.

256gig of memory space isnt enough? i do like the note 10's 12gig ram though, then again i do feel its an overkill!, im looking forward to its worldwide release, i wont buy it, just know that hackers would strip its 3D scan features so the s10 5G can use it, sammy wouldnt put out an update, im sure of this
Byers regret
I currently have the S10 5g , the Verizon Version however i am using it on Xfinity Mobile and it is not going well at all. I really am frustrated with Samsung for making the 5g so hard to use on any network.
I dont care about 5g speeds but i love the screen size and battery life on the 5g, plus i think the 5g camera is the best of all the models.
I recently placed a preorder for the note 10 512gb and i was all excited about the phone but once i got it, the excitement faded away within 2 days. The note 10 has terrible battery life and it just simply reminded
me of my 5g with an s pen so i returned it.
I am back to the 5g but it is quite challenging trying to get this device to work properly on xfinity mobile. The xfinity sim will work but the APN settings are not correct and cannot be changed and because of this,
mms attachments will not download. I have the 5g verizon 256gb version G977u and currently on update version G977UVR2YSHY. i would like to try the ATT firmware but i have not been successful in finding
any U2 Roms as the U1 roms always fail. I am a Newbie so any assistance would be appreciated as i love my 5g. Just wish it was the 512gb model

I think most will have seen the early benchmarks showing the Snapdragon considerably outperforms the Exnyos version of the device in terms of speed and battery life.
My question is, is this still the case? Or have they managed to close the gap between them?
I don't really game very much so my main concerns to be honest are battery life, scrolling smoothness, overall performance more than high FPS in games.
many thanks ?
I think they will not differ much in normal usage and the exynos s10 is still very smooth with me till today specially while using FHD resolution
I also don't game at all frankly.

That's good to hear. I don't want to upset anyone with the Exnyos variant, it's just frustrating that for basically the same price the USA gets the snap dragon and the rest of us get a solution which seems to be a little worse in every way. I wouldn't mind so much if it had better battery life or better performance in some other area.
Maybe I should stop thinking that way and just remember that it's still a strong performer.

back in the note 4 days, the exnyos version was better in terms of battery life and cpu performance, but was worse in gpu.
No one is locked in to a certain device. You have the option to purchase the Snapdragon Hong Kong variant on Ebay which has a number of advantages over the US Snapdragon. The bootloader can be unlocked, dual SIM's, less bloatware and more telco frequency options. You lose the warranty, which I've never needed, since Samsung's quality issues are almost non existent. The Exynos variants may seem to have similar performance but it doesn't stack up to the Snapdragon SoC.
In my opinion I wouldn't worry too much. I came from a snapdragon 845 S9+ to an Exynos S10. With S9+ I could run every app and game fluently. No lag at all in android "Samsung experience". I ran Antutu benchmark on both phones and Exynos S10 have higher points than S9+ (CPU and GPU)
So, does it really matters that S855 is better than new Exynos when S845 could do anything and new Exynos is better than that?
We are at a point where numbers are getting higher but it really doesn't matter in real life. And Exynos have something that snapdragon doesn't and it is better developer's support (ROMS, mods, root, custom recovery, etc). So, Exynos is a win for me.
PD: S9+ is an excellent phone. I switched to S10 because my father wanted the S9+. Then I got S10 in a good sale wich is an excellent phone too: more ram, 64 vs 128 gb storage, little better CPU/GPU, little better more tunned camera, extra wide camera, more screen body relation, almost the same battery in a smaller phone, single SIM vs double SIM card (depends on your version) and it was cheaper for me because I got it in a good deal.
Enjoy you Exynos S10 and don't worry about the snapdragon version. It is an superb phone.
Exynos FTW!!
exynos speed takes a beating
I know I had the exynos s10+ sold it for the TGY version
tmobile speed has been steller
I missed the exynos roms and support but SD model is getting there too
plus we haave a fully working Gcam bam lol
Trying to buy the Verizon S21 Ultra 512GB and it seems to be sold out everywhere,
Will these become available again soon on the Verizon site?
That's a Verizon Q.
Useless you need to replace now, waiting until the next model release might give you better options or a better price/deal on the 512 gb variant.
I'm not buying any of Samsung's latest offerings.
Between the hardware and Android 11 I'm not impressed. Still happy with my Note 10+ running fast, stable and functional on Pie.
Come on guys - enough of that -
It seems to be in stock stateside...

No SD card support and another massive cam hump. Lame rounded display corners. No intergrated Spen with a huge price tag.
Maybe the best cam yet and intergrated 5G -may- mean it's not a battery hog like the 1st generation 5G.
5G performance is spotty at best and typical bandwidth increases are reportedly only 20%.
Fastest processor yet and fast memory but the OS is using scope storage which does eat up CPU/ram cycles for nothing.
It be a downgrade from my 10+ because of no SD card, Android's scope storage, its ugly form factor with no native spen which makes it a case nightmare. It's faster processor/ram/memory are nulled somewhat by the scope storage especially with office apps.
Not near good enough in my opinion especially at this price tag and lack of key features.
If I was the OP I would wait to see what unfolds.
The best models tend to be released near the end of the year.
At this point if I needed to replace my 10+ non 5G variant, I would go with the same model running on Pie.

Hi all,
I'm trying to find out if there is a performance difference when it comes to storage between the 128gb and higher spec ultras. As I understand it, bigger SSD devices are generally faster.
I ran benchmark against a 128gb model (linked below.) Can someone with a 256 or 512 model post their results?
many thanks in advance!
My Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (SDM888) scored 27292 in the PCMark Storage 2.0 Android benchmark test. http://bit.ly/pcmark-android
Passmark storage test was around 78,000 I believe.
256GB Exynos model (SM-G998B) so maybe not comparable, but: I got PC Mark 2.0 storage test = 30329.

This used to be the case for SDDs many moons ago (I haven't checked lately TBH). I would not be surprised to find better performance in higher capacity, I think it mostly has to do with optimized cell access.
Thanks for the feedback y'all! Looking around today I can only find 512GB international models so this may be a moot point.
I had a 512GB ordered from Samsung a few weeks ago when you could still get them on their website, but I cancelled the order thinking the price might come down when the S22 is announced. Just couldn't justify paying full price for last years tech.
T-Mobile still wants $1200 for a 128gb model, so I'm thinking I'll just wait for the 22.
The 22 looks to be an evolutionary upgrade with not much new over the S21 Ultra....smart money is on the discounted S21 since they appear to be virtually the same minus an S pen

I would purchase the S21 Ultra for a few reasons. First being Android 12 is a disaster, it's still nowhere near stable. The new Exynos SoC for the S22 is having serious production issues, only a handful of chipsets are usable from an entire wafer. The S22 Ultra will cost more money but few feature upgrades. The S-Pen (which works on an S21), a bit of a camera tweek, faster charging and new colors. Samsung needs help, it's no longer a great value.

Well I found one place selling the US 512GB version for $1700 on ebay, but that's the cheapest I could find. Might have to just cave in and get the 128GB from TMO for $1200.
More googling revealed that the RAM in the 16GB model is probably also faster.
"At 6,400 megabits per second (Mb/s), the new LPDDR5 is about 16 percent faster than the 12Gb LPDDR5 (5,500Mb/s) found in most of today’s flagship mobile devices. When made into a 16GB package, the LPDDR5 can transfer about 10 5GB-sized full-HD movies, or 51.2GB of data, in one second."
From: https://news.samsung.com/global/sam...dr5-dram-at-worlds-largest-semiconductor-line
The test is probably not reliable then.
I redid the passmark test and here's what I got for disk and memory on the 128GB:
Disk: 74,902
Memory: 31,918

Exynos has had a history of being worse than Snapdragon, especially battery life. Recently there has been news of some S22 Ultra Exynos devices having display issues. I would recommend getting the Snapdragon variant.

Overoll i think Snapdragon is better but that new Snapdragon 8 gen 1 getting really hot in gaming or heavy camera use.
Here is one thread about it.
S22 Ultra gets VERY HOT (120°F during gaming)
Well been using my 22 Ultra for a few days now. Everything seems pretty solid, performance is good, cameras are fine. Mine does have 12gb of RAM and is the Snapdragon variant. But I noticed during gaming for even 10-15 minutes on stuff like Real...

Battery life was something you listed as important. The S22U is getting panned for it's bad battery life.
Snapdragon S22U i would buy in a heartbeat if Samsung offered it in the UK
I get barely over 500k on Antutu ... S22U snapdragon is close to 900k-1m
Plus the ISP is better on SD
Battery life is better
There's literally NO benefit in any catagory for Samsung in which the Exynos wins
It's a terminally failed experiment

So, is Oppo any better? As long as you have variety in Android, it will be difficult to settle down on a single brand/ model. Well, that's both the pro and con of Android. If you want consistent performance, battery life, look, and can live with a pre-historic design as well as with a 2-year-old tech, then Apple is the only way forward.

I really want an S22 ultra --- i like everything about it's positives but the negatives at the moment are just too overwhelming to justify spending almost £1300 on a device that's again worse than it's sibling.
My S21U has become really bad this past couple months since the Android 12 upgrade... even did a factory reset and setup the phone again clean (pain to have to do) but it's no better.
My antutu scores are far worse than even another Exynos 2100 phone (i get around 550000, others get anywhere from 600000-750000). Similar story on most benchmarks, i get significantly down scores in every aspect, i juyst have a bad bin chip but since it's not faulty Samsung wouldn't touch it.
Games stutter really bad, i have to turn down settings on most games that run flawlessly on my wife's OnePlus 9Pro
I agree that Android is what it is -- but I'm done with Exynos ... until they give us the choice of SOC in UK i'm not giving them more money.
I had an S21 Ultra Exynos when it came out and it lasted about 2/3 months before i got so frustrated with it.
I have now (as of last week) purchased a Snapdragon version from ebay and the difference is unreal !
