Hi all,
I was really interested in buying the Pixel 6 Pro but after seeing lots of reviews I am less interested due to fingerprint, battery etc. The Galaxy S21 Ultra looks really nice but I really would like to have that new Assistant Voice Typing for Gboard. Is there a way to spoof the build.props on the Galaxy S21 Ultra to make that feature work? It is even great when not used with a tensor core. I have not used a Samsung Device since the Note 3 so I am not sure how easy it is to unlock BL + root and change device props...
Hi, I use gboard and voice assistant works fine without any edit to build.prop
Just to clarify, you are using gboard and can use the new assistant voice typing that automatically does punctuations on a Galaxy S21 Ultra?
I don't think they option is available on the Ultra. On my Ultra I have to say period it question mark when using voice assistant.
I don't think it is available either but I want to know if it is possible to spoof the build.props to make gboard think the device is actually a Pixel 6 Pro... I saw this being done on a Poco device so technically this should be possible.

Holy **** that's so stupid it made me laugh and get angry simultaneously. Of course I too was trying to find out if there was a way to get this assistant voice typing feature that's only available on the pixel 6 ported to the s21. And I love how your only reply is some dude who didn't even read the question. Or if he did he didn't understand the question and I'm not sure which ones worse. Great work sir.
Also though you were extremely patient in your responses to him so kudos to you that's pretty cool. Whereas I got angry and insulted the guy you just politely responded to him. That's definitely the better course
i have been hoping for a couple of years the same thing.. that advanced voice on pixels is like magical.

Since this phone comes with gesture navigation similiar to iOS, the overall change won't be a problem, also you won't need to use that awful iTunes app for the phone to even communicate with your pc. I used to have an iPhone 6, and I did not like it, since almost every app that was free on google play, i had pay for them on appstore, also using iTunes if I had to move some music to my phone, i did not like the process of it. You get much more freedom with an android phone, and this phone would be a good experience for you.
I suggest you try out the phone for yourself until satisfaction before buying it.
Good afternoon, guys!
After almost two years enjoying an Iphone X and also liking the experience with an XR for work reasons, I decided to move back to Android. Following the guidance in this forum, I bought a 512gb Samsung S10 Plus... And so far I have ejoyed the speed, camera and screen. I left iOS because of the lack of additional storage, the non-renovated-in-years look and feel, and the problems sharing documents with anything that is not Apple.*
Unfortunately, there are a couple of things that make me miss iOS, and I would love to know if any of you know how to help. I cannot think about a better place to ask than in the Android forum by excellence
Passbook is amazing for cards and boarding passses. Is there something similar in Android?
Gestures! - Apple has implemented those amazingly well, and I tried a couple of apps that were not close to Apple. Do I need to wait to Android 10? This is by far the best thing that iOS has
AirDrop - One of the best things that Apple has is this amazing tool to share photos and documents with others. Is there somethins similar in Android?
Integration with Mac - With an iPhone, I can answer a phone call from my computer, and paste text from and to my Mac. I know this is going to eb almost impossible, but noone better than you guys to respond *
Multitasking - Multitasking has been way better implemented by Apple, meaning that surfing through the apps that are opened feels more fluid and natural with an iPhone. Is there any way to change this? To make it better than it currently is?
Apple pay - Apple has every possible card in their echosystem, and Android has some while Samsung has others - It seems like is not so standarized
Thanks so much in advance for responding to this, and I hope I don't regret of coming back to my beloved Android world.

welcome back to the fray!!
1: boarding pass wallet
2: nope
3: pushbullet
4: nope
5: not sure, would probably take some tweaking, but its just not as slick in android
6: Samsung Pay or Google Pay. I have a gear S3 frontier and it has a radio in it that makes it superior to iwatches and any other samsung watch, it can emulate a physical card swipe and doesnt rely strictly on NFC. Ive had soooooooo many clerks say to me "that doesnt work her......." and when they stop talking and look at their register with surprise that it worked, i then say "yes it does" with a slick smile on my face

HAhahah! Thanks so much! Love the last phrase
I'll donwload Boarding Pass Wallet and Pushbullet (I remember that last one from my S7 edge). In Spain it seems like Samsung and Google have different cards one from each other and it makes it complicated. F.E. Samsung in Spain does not accept AMEX!

crazy! In London 75% of the places accept AMEX but in Spain is not so easy. I thought the US would be the best place to have an AMEX!

right??? yeah, i tried a couple jewelry stores, clothing stores, grocery, hardware, tons of places in the mall of america (for a very long time, this was the largest mall on the planet) and it was hit n miss at very best. I eventually found a place that would let me withdraw the cash with a very small penalty. I went to doing that every so often to avoid the hassle LoL
1. No idea
2. Vivid Navigation, (Because you can use tap gestures.) experiment with this app, you'll enjoy it. I felt like I missed iPX gestures, but then I got used to using Vivid NG and now going back to iPhone gestures seem slow and require more effort. I use tap gestures along the bottom arranged how the navbar buttons are, and then swipe gestures on the side. You can also use swipe up on each section to bring up Bottom Quick settings (I bound to the right section), Launchboard bound to swipe up in the middle and Notification panel on the left section.
3/4: Use EasyJoin, it uses Wifi Direct which is what Airdrop is. It also allows you to answer phonecalls from your pc and control your SMS.
5. You can try changing animation durations and revoking usage data access to wellbeing, you'll notice it's a lot more fluid. If you root, install FDE AI, made a huuge difference for me.
6. Google pay. If you're rooted use magisk hide and the script for google pay to use it while rooted.

Awesome! I changed animations and it indeed improved the performance. Regarding Google Pay, it's good but not perfect. Vivid Navigator looks promising but needs a PC to hide the Navigation Bar, so I'll need to check later at home
Regarding EasyJoin, I am using AirDroid and it seems to work well... For now!

This will allow you to modify your multitasking page and animations quite significantly. Give it a try

Simply great! this tool makes multitasking way more natural!
The only missing piece now is Apple Pay... They have a way better system than Android (you even need to dial your PIN number in the machine to complete the payment, while with Apple that was not needed).
Thanks, man!
Ok, so the passbook thing seems to be implemented into Samsung and Google pay. The similar gestures are coming with one ui 2. For iosish recents download nice lock and task changer off APK mirror
Just checked Vivid Navigation... Simply awesome. It replicates indeed the iPhone gestures and goes even beyond. Great suggestion, man!!
Been using iPhones for a few years now. Getting bored of the iPhone 11 Pro and thinking of switching to pixel 4. Few things I need some comments on:
1. Face ID Authentication on apps. I use this almost for all apps in iphone including banking. It works flawlessly. I don’t think Face ID is available for the same apps on android. How big an issue will this be for me? May be it won’t be a big deal??
2. Mail app. I’ve used android in the past. No email app works like iOS mail app. I spent hours trying every android mail app. Hopefully outlook on android will close the gap
3. Battery life. Still debating on pixel 4 or XL. I don’t like big phones. But I heard bad stories about pixel 4’s poor batter life. How bad is it??
4. Podcasts app. Same story as mail app. Any good android podcasts app that’s comparable to apple podcasts
Main reasons for switching — sell iphone while it’s still worth the money. Getting a great deal on pixel now.
Pixel camera is still better then iphone. Plus google assistant. Siri is Not even close.
Anyone switched from iPhone 11 Pro? Comments welcome.

Hey I'm an Android user, but have tried iPhone a few times. The iPhone 11 pro Max stuck for a while, but now back to Pixel 4 XL. Use an iPad pro as well.
1. Support for the face unlock has SLOWLY gotten better. I use Chase and they haven't updated the app to support the new biometric prompt API. Good read and updated list of apps here. https://9to5google.com/2020/04/16/pixel-4-face-unlock-apps-support/
2.Outlook for Android is great and my go to. Only thing that it's missing for me is that it doesn't sync the calendar with the Android native calendar. Nine is a great email app as well for exchange accounts.
3. I've never used the 4. Battery life for me is great on the XL.
4. Pocket Casts is great feature full podcast app. It had iOS app as well. Syncs perfect and instantly with iPad pro. I can pick up the iPad and continue listening where I was on the phone.
The current deal on Pixel is great. I hope this helps.

I'll reply since I own and use both phones.
1. Apple is years ahead on this front. There are barely any apps that support face unlock on Android so you can forget about anything close to the experience you get on the iPhone. With that said though, a good password manager authenticated by face unlock on the Pixel 4 XL combined with Android's auto-fill feature is a very close substitute. It's slower still, but not too bad at all. I use Enpass for this purpose.
2. Don't like Outlook and after many, many attempts with different clients, the two best ones are Google's own Gmail client or alternatively the Nine Email client. Latter is the most capable email client on Android I found to date, and is well supported and we'll polished. There is also Spark for Android now which is a good choice (used to be iOS only).
3. Pixel 4 XL is the only way to go. Even so, the battery life is pretty bad. It does not come even close to the iPhone 11 Pro (let alone the Max) and is well behind other flagships.
4. Google Podcast? This is one area where somebody else may be better advised to answer. Not a big podcast guy.
You're right that the Pixel camera is better still, at least in my opinion, though the 11 Pro really stepped up and it is basically on par. Portrait mode on the iPhone is better than the Pixel. Google Assistant is better in some ways and worse in others. I actually find that Siri holds up better with foreign sounding names, etc. Also, Google Assistant doesn't always trigger as it should, especially on voice activation.
vhl, I do not have the 11 Max but I have the X Max.
For me the face unlock works well for the apps I need. Unlocking my phone is very consistent and I have it set up to bypass the lock screen and go right to the last screen I was on. My banking apps (Discover and B of A) are both supported beyond that I don't have much of a need as Google fills in most of the other password requirements. I do use Outlook for my work email (Exchange) and the Gmail app for my personal email. I manage the phones for my company and have had a few users convert from the ios email app to Outlook and have been happy with it since it more closely mirrors their desktop experience. Battery life on my Pixel 4 XL is a solid B in my opinion. I know the 11 Max is better but I'm coming home everyday from work with high 50- low 60's in battery percentage. My phone is off the charger at 6:30 and my work day ends at 5:00. I love the Google Assistant, voice activated or squeezing on the phone activated is handy. I really like the pixel launcher and the Google feed to the left of the home screen. I'm not a podcast guy so I have no real opinion there but I have the Google podcast.
I would say my X Max feels a little more premium with the use of steel but I like the soft touch of the 4XL too. For me, it comes to the O/S, I try to use ios for periods of time but after a few days I have to switch back. Maybe I don't fully understand the software but I get frustrated with it and I cannot do the same multitasking on ios that I can with Android.
Good luck with your decision, I will leave you with this last thought. I read somewhere, maybe here, a long time ago, ios is great for people that like to play checkers but Android is for people that like to play chess, of course ymmv.
Hi all,
I would really like to use the assistant voice typing (https://www.xda-developers.com/gboard-assistant-voice-typing-on-pixel-6/) but it is a Pixel exclusive feature for now using the Tensor chip. Without using any props spoofing is that assistant voice typing enabled for gboard on Pixel 5a? I know it is not available on a Pixel 2XL. Pixel 5a seems to have nice battery life and has a rear fingerprint scanner... If I can't use that feature I would wait for the next Pixels to come out..
I think you're trying to say that voice typing without internet because voice typing works on every phone but you need to be connected to internet for it to work. I wrote all of that using voice typing on an LG V40 so it works on all phones but doesn't work without internet.
I am talking about the next generation assistant voice typing. It automatically sets punctuation for you and is much smarter than the regular voice typing. When they released it it was a pixel 6 series exclusive feature and I am wondering if it was made available for the 5a already or not. I know you can spoof the props on devices and I’ve gotten it to work on my pixel 2 xl doing so. I was just curious if it is available by default.

You could try this
[MAGISK] Pixelify
Pixelify Magisk Module A magisk module was created to make your android phone close to pixel devices. Current version - 2.2 So Features does this module provide? - Next Generation Assistant - Call Screening - Direct my call - Hold for me - Next...
forum.xda-developers.com
They also have a Telegram group.
Right Right That is correct. I was just curious if Google made that feature available for the 5 series by default already without having to root, spoof anything. If not I could get it with pixelify but it being a pixel I would expect it to receive that feature eventually by default.

Its funny you say that because i have a pixel 6 and for some reason, some features were not working for me. They just were not there. Like Hold for Me, Direct My Call and Spam and Call Screening, Just didnt have them. So I use that mod to get them. I'm always rooted so no big deal for me.

Oh, I didn't know about this feature, my bad.
Do you remember if you had all the updates installed? I think the Android system intelligence service or sth needs to be updated in order to have that feature. Pixel 6 should be released with that though...
Yeah I am curious if any Pixel 5a owner can use the next generation assistant voice typing. So far it does not sound like it. I actually ordered it and it will arrive in a few days. I will let you guys know when I can try it myself.
Well, I said I would update this thread with my own Pixel 5a experiences once I receive the phone but Google has been unable to ship this phone to me since August 21st even though I paid for premium shipping and was promised a 1-2 day delivery. 6 support reps were unable to tell me why the shipping date keeps getting pushed out, if the phone is reserved for me / available... This experience kind of ruined the Pixel 5a for me. I might buy it on ebay one day. Who knows. But this is incredible.
Im not impressed at all by my Pixel since Black Friday. I actually received a S21 at work and its WAYYYYY better.
Anyway, a lot of BS feathures are problematic. I feel like Im being spied all the time by google rather than owning a phone.
I want for example to get rid of the google lens icon and the google bar.
Is there any way to do that?

Congrats on buying the Google phone then.
If you want to deactivate system apps enable developer settings, enable ADB, connect your phone to your PC and disable Google Lens and Google Search system apps / packages using Universal Android Debloater GUI and maybe other googly bloat.
Want to have more privacy? Learn about flashing your phone, unlock the bootloader, flash Graphene OS, Calyx OS, Lineage OS or something like that.
Maybe root your device and block trackers and stuff using Adaway. Or stay unrooted and use something like personalDNSfilter.
Maybe selling it is a good choice for you

All of that spyware crap is preinstalled on ALL android phones, not just pixel. They're a bit more in your face on pixel maybe though, since gooble is showcasing it there.
My recommendation would be to switch to grapheneOS. If you absolutely MUST use proprietary gooble bits, grapheneos implements a unique compatibility layer to cause it all to run as a conventional user-installed application instead of demanding excessive permissions.
