Hello and a good day to you! - Introductions

Now that this is out of the way, my name is Frituurman or F-Man. Not my real name, mind you, but a nick name given to me by my friends as we were growing up. I'm from The Netherlands and live in a small city in the more rural part of the country. I like to tinker with phones, but I know when to quit.
If you have any questions, just contact me! Have a great day!

Geeks have hearts

I am yet to see a forum with so much brotherhood between different people than xda. One thing i know of now is that geeks have soft heart, with people from all over the world praying for ltxda's daughter and sharing information and greeting each other, this forum is like a family. Goodluck to all geeks(xda'er).
Thankyou.

Before I get old and forget about everything I want to meet you guys..heheh..lol..oh man!
This actually would be a great great idea!
hard to acomplish because distances, work, and money issues
But that would be AN UNPRECEDENT EVENT IN THE WHOLE WWW!!!
First point to discuss:
1.- Where?
I have some miles acumulated on my JAL account and willing to use them for this cause!
If ever gets real...
Yep, this might be hard to accomplish and might take years before it happens. But you'll never know. I want to see xplode in person before he explodes!!! LOL I want to see sun_dream before M$ put him behind bars (LOL sun, just jokin, peace bro! You know I luv ya...) And this would be one of a heck grand as in GRAND eyeball! Some from US, some from UK, some from Philippines, from Bulgaria, from mexico from Australia, from China, from Malaysia, from India, from Japan (hey bring some sushi..) from Italy, from Germany, from around the world in one place.

Hello all,
I am in the hospitality business and organise events for a number of blue chips – in short my company is the best in the business.
I get good rates on hotels, restaurants and have excellent connections for all things conference throughout Europe. So if Italy, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Uk or Ireland is a possible venue for the proposed event, I will be happy to get involved. I am a big fan of XDA.
Work is on going on our website just now so I am aware that a number of pages need updating... its in the hands of the HTML engineer... link in my signature if ya wanna have a look at what we do.
Best,
J
This would be pretty cool however i've never seen it work out in any other forum. I think the best thing to do would be to create a poll and see where most people are located. Say there's a bundle in California, then we could have one in LA or some place close to all Californians. Same thing for other states, countries, even cities, etc. We could then all share our experiences. As for me, i'm in Southern California, hence the reason i used it
More or less this event might take place in the US or somewhere in Europe...only few asian are here...
It is a nice idea. Make it a convention and invite some guest speakers to show off the future of mobile devices, have reps from HTC and others perhaps like Sony, Motorola, Nokia, Jabra, etc... showing off newest gadgets and gear - Workshop seminars and stuff like that. It could be a fun time to meet some of our members in person, talk, show off our devices and envy the other person's device and a good learning opportunity as well.

it won't be an eyeball anymore. It will look like a convention, a meeting, etc. And that will be boring because everyone should be formal. Just an "ORDINARY' but "GRANDacious" eyeball.. exclusively fro XDA-DEV members and if you like we can invite M$ as our guest speaker..LOL
Just a regular GRAND EYEBALL, just to meet each and everyone here at XDA-DEV. No paper works, no signing up just beer and phones and girls too...

Agree with the poll
Starting form there we can see how many would like to attend and where most people is located
But I must say that I agree with Daveshaw that the best place should be where all this started: Amsterdam!
So who is going to create the poll?
Yeah, Amsterdam would be great! And there will be raffle promos and HTC Devices giveaways courtesy of all xda-dev's moderators and admins... Come one let's make this happen.
Great poll!
LOL
Last option looks pretty cool!
hehehe if that last option wins...you got to pay my expenses going to your place!

just a cent from a newbee, i hope this great idea will happen sooner...
i agree however that safety, next of course to resources, is definitely the issue needed to be considered by anyone else. but who's safe nowadays? i dont think there's a better place than our own abode (just be sure our better half is out.. lol)..
a little clarification though about Philippines vis a vis Abu Sayaff (ASG). ASG concentrates mostly in northern part of Mindanao and now being relentlessly pursued. on the otherhand, there are great places in the Philippines particularly in Luzon & Visayas, although as i've said cant be considered safer that our homes. But on the brighter side, your 1$ to Php47.++ is quite noteworthy of consideration.... more than double the fun i guess
Btw, considering the "safety" issue as quoted, i voted for the last option (peace orb...)
cheers...

Hello everybody,
I have to write a letter of reference for me in the name of my professor.
Sadly I am not sure if it's grammatically correct and if the sentences are understandable at all.
It would be really great if you guys could help me out by correcting it a little bit.
Thanks in advance
This is a personal recommendation for *****.
My name is Prof. Dr.-Ing. *****. I’m the head of the Institute of concrete structures and structural engineering at the University of Technology ***** (Technische Universität *****).
I know ***** as a student of civil engineering. He started his studies on April 1, 2010.
***** is a very purposeful person. He is kind and polite on every occasion. Teamwork as well as working on his own are tasks that he can fulfill reliably as he has proven with different papers.
He has successfully managed to pass the syllabus of 8 semester within 7 semester and thus outstripped other students of his field. He has always shown a high level of motivation and has fulfilled his duties to the satisfactory of the faculty.
The internship at ***** suits his studies very well as he is majoring in statics and structural engineering. I highly recommend ***** for an international internship in the United States.

There's only a couple of little things I'd say need changing, even though you can understand them...

It's still clear that English is not your first language, but I'd prefer to see that and appreciate the effort made. It sounds like a glowing reference to me
"managed to pass" seems like you barely passed. It's better to change it to just passed.
Other than what archer said above, I don't see any major problems.

I asked him to write me a letter of recommendation. He said I should set up a letter in his name as he didn't know what to write. He will now take a look at it and hopefully sign it.

One of my teachers asked me to do the same when I asked for a letter of recommendation for college.
I have also written my own letter of recommendations in the form of Experience letters. Since I don't want to bother HR manager I write the letter and put sign also...

undergrad dissertation help
Hey, I'm currently doing a degree in agriculture and part of my dissertation involves a survey about how people view the industry, if you have a minute free could you please answer it? it should only take a minute or 2 (20 questions) and each person that answers really helps my research
thanks
http://bit.do/agriculture
Thank you to everyone who has filled it out so far, you have all been a tremendous help, and finally the goal is within sight, however every little helps, if you have not already done so if you could please fill out the survey for me it would greatly help my research and only takes a minute or two
www.bit.do/agriculture
I filled it out, but I don't know anything about British agriculture.
I filled it out, but based on Australian agriculture as that's what I work in. I *may* be biased ?
I'm a city girl from the European mainland; my knowledge of British agriculture is limited to whatever the BBC shows us. Which is probably not entirely accurate.
But I've given it my best answers anyway.

Introduction

Hello, I'm a student from Indonesia. I'm a beginner in this kind of field, but I'm willing to learn. Probably going to ask more questions than trying to help others, but if i know a little about your problem, I'm willing to try to help a bit.
Aha, welcome onboard.
I have been to Jakarta one time, nice food, bad traffic.
Thank you very much!
Yes, Jakarta's traffic is one of the worst in Indonesia. But with the development of better public transportation in the past few years, it's getting better for sure!

I see. I was there in 2012 or 2013, and I am sure there will be some improvements.
Hope this pandemic can end soon so that I could travel around and visit Indonesia again.
