Good day guys,
Long story short, My S21 Ultra have exposure / image output still have issue after camera module replace. Service center in Hong Kong refused to repair it anymore and plead it is operating issue caused by user (me......).
The major fault symptom is about the rear main camera have inconsistence exposure even in same scene, especially in HDR kicking-in and shooting portrait in normal shooting mode. It's not only slight brighten or darken. The image out is much over exposure and its output is useless randomly. The strange part is the exposure is same value on ISO and shutter speed but the output is extremely different. The following is some samples for explaining the problem. (Even my previous Note 20 Ultra and old note 5 do better)
Most of them are point and shoot with disabled scene optimizing when using the Samsung official camera app.
Explanation 1
Explanation 2
Issue photo sample
Normal photo sample
Pattern sample
It seem have some pattern for the inconsistence output, darken then Over exposure on the next, anyone have same situation as mine?
The case was followed with their complaint handling CS, My phone have stayed in service center for 2 weeks and they final report is "confirm hardware and software" normal.
Unfortunately the problem haven't be resolved and complaint via the local consumer council. They refused to replace other parts and no further in depth diagnosis for my case.
The following is the final reply from Samsung Electronics HK:
Final arrangement: Customer requests to have the phone functioning in normal. Our company contacted customer on 29/11. We explained to customer that customer's phone is defined functioning in normal after inspection. We explained to customer that the photo taken from the phone can be affected by different factors, such as light exposure, the change of light sources and photo mode.
Customer does not accept. We do not have further arrangement can provide in this case. We suggest customer to contact us if there is further assistance needed.
It is very frustrating and feel helpless for me. but I refuse to let Samsung took advantage of the customer.
I would appreciate if someone could give me some advice about my situation. Thank you.
Can you try installing GCAM for snapdragon variant and report if it still has the same issues? If so, then there is clearly a hardware/sensor issue.
If not, then it's most probably software related.
I have the same HK variant and I'm using Ruler GCAM 6.210329 build all the time.
The phone's defects look to be hardware related (sensors). Samsung wants to wash their hands of the problem which isn't a surprise. An escalation may be your best option at this point. Have you considered contacting the Consumer Council of Hong Kong? I would petition them for a replacement or full refund. Good luck!

One UI 4.0 has not been made available to the SM-G9980, claiming it resolved the issue doesn't add up. It was scheduled for release on November 15th but Samsung has since rolled it back to some date in the future. I'm glad it's been delayed, Android 12, One UI 4.0 is nowhere near stable.
Samsung briefly posts One UI 4 rollout schedule before taking it down
It spans from this month to July 2022. Samsung briefly published an update rollout schedule for One UI 4 on its Members app before abruptly taking it down....

They have replaced the camera module. After few week battle with Samsung, I have contact with consumer counicl and they just refer my case back to Samsung again.
At last Samsung contact me again but their attitude still the same, passed the buck to me and emphasized hardware and software is nomral. I suggest to replace the motherboard (guess related to ISP on SoC) but they refused. Just suggest me to send back to device and do the same diagnosis. This handling is very ridiculous for a this worldwide brand.

Hey guys/girls, hope fully tomorrow will be the day we get some sort of info. After speaking with a rep who I beleive to be honest, ( I've spoken to a lot of them) he told me a few things that have settled my mind. Because I was promised info by email yesterday, I said 'i understand you have gotten a lot of crap off people complaining and stuff probably shouting down the phone' he said yes we're all very stressed because in honesty it has nothing to do with us, we're just the messenger, 'so don't shoot us' he told me that multiple meetings are being held each day for a while now and that today the topic of the TNT delivery for the UK, and that all of our tablets are sitting in a warehouse down in London or where ever, after they got off the plane on Friday. You will get info in the next 2 days and he said 'I myself have spoken to a higher rep who passed messages on to the big guys who have taken into consideration what's going on and we do apologise, and that I'm sure you will be compensated for you're he inconvenience in some way.
If he was telling the truth, he seemed like a good guy though. We could even have them tomorrow, he said that the tracking numbers won't get sent to us till the device is actually on the truck, hence why we haven't heard anything yet. But let's hope for the best we might see some results tomorrow.
I know how eager everyone is at this point and also were dissappointed. But hopefully we won't be held up much longer.
Thanks for letting us know. I am waiting for it here in UK as well. I've been to Currys today in Bracknell, but a guy there said it's not coming to them until September.
That's because of some store changes though. I'm going to check Reading, maybe even tomorrow. I was going to hit London's HMV, but 16th July is said to be only the pre-order day.
Thanks for this heads up
I for one don't care about being compensated. To be honest they're still shipping earlier than I expected in the UK, so I'm all good!
Very nice to know we should hear something tomorrow or Tuesday though. Will be sure to check back here if I get anything through.
Really hope we hear something tomorrow
I was also going to check out HMV, but I realised they will only make me send it back to Asus if there's an issue which could take weeks. It's really not worth the two day wait.
Im so excited I could wee!!!!!
Tbh I'm not that bothered, it'll just be a nice surprise when it does arrive and then I'll have to do the legend of Zelda thing of holding it above my head while running back to my under ground lab
Ah cool I'm glad to hear that, thanks for the info mate!
There is a sticky for all discussion relating to orders from the Play Store.

That would be illegal.
The Sale of Goods Act states that it is the retailer's responsibility to deal with faulty goods, not the manufacturer's. HMV could not legally refuse to handle warranty issues themselves.
Initially, you have a right of rejection if the goods are not fit for purpose, which means you can demand a refund or replacement. There is no fixed period for this as the law has to cover everything from fresh fruit to fidge-freezers and clearly an appropriate rejection period for one would not be appropriate for the other. Normally for electronics, it's between 14 and 28 days though some retailers offer longer or shorter periods.
After that, for the remainder of the first 6 months, HMV would have to either have the tablet repaired or replaced or prove that the fault was not inherent at the time of sale (ie if it were caused by wear and tear, it wouldn't get fixed - but the same applies with most warranties anyway). Then after the first 6 months, for anywhere up to 6 years, you still have legal rights obliging the retailer to help you provided you can prove the fault was inherent at the time of sale.
Now, true, HMV could simply send the tablets on to Asus but that would at least potentially save you the cost of postage.
Not to mention, the Sale of Goods Act also states that any repairs undertaken by the retailer must be completed within a reasonable length of time and without significant inconvenience to the customer - meaning that if it were to take weeks and weeks, you could demand a replacement unit instead; something you couldn't do if you sent it away to Asus yourself.
It pays to know your legal rights.
Xiaomi technology recently released an international version of the Xiaomi Yi action camera: US version and EU version. Both version are available in white and black color. At the same time, Xiaomi will ban APP service of Chinese version in the overseas, which means that if you purchase Yi action camera of Chinese version, and you can’t use it because of language different.
What is international version?
An international version item is a product depending on the country of origin, international versions of a product may differ from domestic versions in their default settings, packaging materials, language on packaging and instructions, AC adaptors and plugs, accessories, manufacturer warranty or other features.

What differences are there between international and Chinese version ?
App
As we all know that the Chinese version of Yi action camera can only connect Chinese App. If Xiaomi bans overseas APP service, then what can the users do? Kindly suggest that the users buy an international one, because APP of the international version with multi languages applies to global users.
And according to the description on amazon.com:
“The U.S. version is compatible with U.S. Wi-Fi network environments and voltage, along with U.S. environmental standards. It has different packaging and English instructions. The other non-U.S. version are not from authorized sellers and could be counterfeit.”( EU version is the same)
Battey
Chinese Version features a 960mAh battery ( from Panasonic)
International Version features 990mAh battery( from Sony)
The batter life of international version is longer the Chinese version. What is more, the backdoor of the battery housing (international version) is covered with an aluminum alloy sheet. Its heat dissipation is better than plastic cover( Chinese version).
Certification
The international version of Yi action camera has passed CE and FCC certifications. In addition, the US version has passed CRUUS certification and the EU version passing KC certification. Comparing to this, the original Chinese version only passed CE certification.
Service
When the original Chinese version connects APP, the speed maybe be very slow. However, the international version promotes its user’s experience and update its speed.
Package
According to the press release the International Version differs:
“The package is better, local language and all the international certifications”
The Chinese version package is made from wood material and the international version uses recyclable wood material box with a red paper cover. The package of international version is better and more environmental.
From the above, we know the international version indeed make different changes including its package, user manual, appearance and so on. Here we are not going to go through more examples.Although its price is a little more expensive that the Chinese version, it’s better and more valuable. Kindly remind that if you buy the Chinese version, you can’t use it. (because app of Chinese version is Chinese and even you possibly can’t download it. )
I just learn from a blog, i don't know if it's the right place to tell you. You guys must know that International version is different from CN version.
Just notice me if i made the wrong place. Thanks! :fingers-crossed:
I bought a Xiaomi Yi camera a while ago, by mistake the Chinese version. Do you think that they will replace it with an international one, if I ask them to?

of course, it can't be replaced to International version, i guess you need to contact the seller. Xiaomi yi action camera Chinese version only can use Chinese apps, if xiaomi bans overseas app service, what will you do.

I guess this will be the last major update for our beloved Galaxy Note 9. Long story short, this update is amazing! The first thing I noticed after the update was the clear dark screen (it was a bit yellowish after few updates previously thought it was a defect but turns out to be software related). Not only that some cool features like:
Wireless DeX
SOS Messaging every 30min if location changes
Video Pro Mode Histogram, 24 FPS on 4K and 1080p Pro Mode Video
Keyboard Split when on landscape
I actually flashed the stock rom of Germany on my XSG device and seriously this is the best decision ever! Fluid performance and decent battery life!
EDIT
*Hey guys many of my subscribers been complaining about yellow tint or so called discoloration. I had it on my local ROM as well but flashing Germany ROM fixed it. No overheat, no discoloration, excellent performance and battery. So if you want to end these issues than follow this video
The thing i wanted the most was wireless dex and it's there all the other things are extra bonuses which i love as well. Good lock modules too.
And they call it ***an update***? Except Wireless DEX barely any notable worthy changes. Camera was crap and still is.
And they call it *** update ***? Except for the Wireless DEX, hardly any notable changes. The camera was **** and still is.
I cannot turn off spellcheck underline after update, the option is off but its still showing.

Did anyone notice that the low light video recording looks way less noisy compared to the previous updates on the Exynos model. Makes me very angry that it took so long to fix these issues. I will never recommend buying new Samsung devices again.
Camera update?! Only pro video mode?
Got the update on Spectrum! 2.5 is here. Downloading now.
Haven't gotten it on my N9 yet, but just received it on my Tab S6. Finally! I can use the full screen gestures on Nova Launcher! Can't wait you get it on my unlocked Note using the TMO firmware. There's the only thing that had completely bummed me out with the upgrade to Android 10 - third party launchers lost a lot of their usability with the upgrade & I hate having to use OneUI without being did to use Nova....
Mic selection toggle is unavailable on the NOTE 9
I've upgraded it mostly to get the Mic selection option but it's an s10+ or later exclusive... such a shame !!!
Is that a method ti get the s10+ camera apk into N9 without root?
The funny thing is that the N9 app is a newer version so it's impossible to downgrade via apks...
SMH...
Regretfully the Galaxy Note9 on my hand is still running One UI 2.1, though the firmware is already the latest one.
Note: the actual model of my Galaxy Note9 is SM-N9600 under TGY.
T-mobile GN9 user here, still don't have the update. I'm in the USA (California, specifically). According to this site, it's listed as Coming Soon for the USA and Canada. I tried forcing to lookup the update (by checking for software updates in settings), no luck.

Not released for USA yet. You guys often seem to be the last in getting updated. No idea if it's because you've got Snapdragon CPUs and not Exynos or it's just a carrier thing.
Got the update this morning, on T-mobile in California (USA).
Alright, so now that we've got it, can someone explain to me how to use Wireless DeX? Specifically, I'm unclear about the connection requirements.
Damn it!
I must not understand how this works... I've got a 960U1 (US unlocked) & I'm on TMO. I expected to get the update via TMO but apparently not.
What gives? Does anyone know?

I dunno if anyone understands how it works.
I have the U1 on TMO as well. No update.
I think it will come eventually, but the rollout schedule of these things makes zero sense.
Edit: Maybe the rollout schedule is prioritized to service all carrier models first, then the U1 last.
@lazarus0000
Received the update this morning on Old Folks Cellular (Consumer Cellular - unlocked N9). lol.
CC is affiliated w/ AT&T and TM, so hopefully you will receive the update soon.
Does anyone know the apk file name for the "Send SOS Messages?"
Can I assume the One UI update is the one starting with F? Like “FTJ8”. The SM-N9600 (the model I've got) has only got an F series firmware for Open China, but I guess that one doesn't have Google services.
There's another recent update, ETK2, but I don't think it's One UI 2.5.
Finally! Woke up this morning & it was an early Christmas! And, like Christmas, slow slow slow to get here!
But I can finally go back to using Nova Launcher & get the best Sammie has to offer and the sweet goodness of a customer launcher that does everything I want it to!
Malaysia XME also got this update just now!!
Got an update this morning, just Nov security patch, no one ui 2.5 here in brasil
Since there's noticeable quality and heating drawbacks for the Exynos version, and the US version is bootloader locked, and not having root = you don't own the device, I'm wondering if anyone from outside asia has any experience or recommendations for buying this phone from HK or China, to get the unlocked snapdragon version.
Has anyone done this? I looked on amazon.jp and it seems some s21 ultras are listed as having snapdragons, but user comments say they ordered them and received exynos versions.
Cheers.
I assume china won't have google services but maybe HK does?
[EDIT/SOLVED]
Ok, so confirmed by users, there are a couple online shops that ship from hk to eu, even without extra VAT, and confirmed to ship with HK firmware. I don't know about all the codes, but seems at very least the G9980ZHU***** ones are HK firmware. I won't paste shops here since it seems people aren't so it might be against the rules.
Definitely don't recommend buying from China as you'd then have to flash the HK firmware to replace the china one or else you won't have certain features, but the HK version has everything working (only thing is samsung pay may be locked to HK according to some reports but I don't care, also maybe you could flash an eu samsung pay app especialy with root, idk).

how about do some video quality and photo quality side by sides... Also thermal throttling is a thing. It's pretty much like comparing a cpu from amd with a cpu from intel. It can't be "the same".
BTW my question was 99% about where to find x not let's argue about differences Maybe I'm just a fan of this snapdragon chip I keep hearing everyone is so proud of in all their flagships, regardless of how good exynos is. Blame marketing as well as sustained benchmarks. I'm all for competition in the hardware space but maybe next year idk; seems it's been catching up at least compared to last gen's exynos vs last gen's SD, but not quite within the "Ultra" paygrade yet.
Hongkong and China model are the same Snapdragons. They only differ in csc that you can change with samkey!

TL;DR I'm not paying Ultra money for "everything fine". I appreciate Exynos got less ****, but it's not "ultra".
1. his video shows at least one 888 is better, in performance, sustained performance, and thermals; and the other is the same. Whereas the exynos chips go from bad to the same. I'm buying a no compromise "Ultra" 1000+$ phone, not an almost as good phone. And snapdragon is either better architected or better optimized for in games, see the PUBG comparison for 40fps at lower quality vs 60fps at high quality on the snapdragon.
2. why the f is he taking thermal camera readings after the chips cooled down and they're already at 35 degrees? If you have a thermal gun, show uncut footage of running benchmarks 10 times in a row, showing thermals during workload. And which of the 2 snapdragons is he testing against for the rest of the video? My money's on the slightly underperforming one.
3. He took photos without the scene optimizer. Which would run better on SD. But even so the results are better on SD.
4. I am buying snapdragon because of the technologies on the chip. It's the difference between having DLSS and more mature raytracing on an Nvidia GPU and having an AMD GPU except much more pronounced because it's also tied to modem, image processor, and other SoC specifics.
And again, maybe you don't like my points, cool, then blame the snapdragon marketing, and the broad industry marketing that teaches us to make no compromises and get the best of the best at crazy prices and then oops you're locked into a compromise. If the exynos is better, don't ship with snapdragon.
PS: Here's some comments from that video:
"I've just re-ran my tests and still get the Snapdragon far ahead, unlike what you're getting. One interesting thing is that across every reviewer's testing I've seen, the Snapdragon seems to be performing similarly, but the Exynos models seem to have more variance between them. Some people's Exynos phones ARE getting really hot and slow like mine did, and other people are finding that their Exynos phones are doing just fine" - Mrwhosetheboss
"Its called silicon quality. It shows that some Exynos chips have very bad silicon quality which means they heat more and are more likely to throttle harder. And it also shows that Snapdragon is more consistent with the quality of their silicon."
Maybe it's a lottery and you should hate less Exynos. Mine is perfect and ahead of many S21U SD888.

Not everything is black and white. There are several factors that can impact performance and raw power. I can guarantee to you what I know from MY OWN experience and I'm very happy with mine.
Plus, last updates increased dramatically the cameras and battery life of exynos version. SD888 variant is better at video recording but E2100 is better at zoom and details in photos.
Buy whatever you want, just don't talk as you know how it is because you don't know. You don't have one. I have. They are both similar.
I purchased a Redmi Note 10s for about now 2 months. I understand it is a budget device, but I am trying to see if anyone who is more knowledgeable on Android than me knows what may be occurring here. Yes, I have tried to Google the solution but to no avail. I'm sorry.
The device works fine overall, but the other day I started the camera app and I noticed there is a line at the top of the frame when in any mode other than 1:1.
If I place the camera in a 1:1 ratio, there is no line (since it shortens the top), anything else there is this stuck annoying line at the top. Now, what is peculiar is that when using the stock camera app, and we go video, the line at the top moves according to how I move the device around, it is not stuck. Also, I noticed the line at the top changes color, depending on background and weirdest thing of all.. it applied this line to all my pictures that I took PRIOR to this issue occurring.
Also, I tried gcam and other camera apps. In photo mode, same story, line at the top is stuck, but when we go video on these other apps, the line now does not "move" like in the stock camera app but is also stuck in video mode as well.
Now, its either hardware or software I know. I have not done a total reset yet but may later on but since I got a bunch of logins and apps downloaded and what not, I wonder if anyone knows a solution about this issue.
Hardware: Impossible unless the build is this bad for Xiaomi Redmi devices. I never smacked the device, it never fell nor has any liquid damage. I babied it since day 1.
Software: I think it could likely be more a software issue than hardware but pls enlighten me why and how to fix.
Thank you,
Does it happen using every lens or just one lens? What you describe sounds like some sort of spirit levelling/guide lines, although they shouldn't be present on a saved image, unless some option is enabled to do so. Try resetting the app, just write down settings you want to remember first.
I recommend trying the gcam port app instead of the stock one too, much better images.
Post a sample photo and screenshot demonstrating the glitch.

It is happening only with the main lens, not the others.
I went ahead and wiped data. Issue persist unfortunately.
When I point the camera towards a bright light, you can see the top line becoming blue and part of it disappearing.
Will post images soon to give you a better idea.
Yes I did try other apps such as gcam. Same issue.

From the looks of it, it seems like you have a faulty sensor. Just have your phone replaced from where you bought it.
Agreed with jacobpayag, looks like an RMA job, for a faulty sensor.
I bought it from wirelessplace, and I am unable to return or exchange unfortunately since it has been over 30 days. I emailed them but.. I doubt they will do anything. I guess I will keep it as is. No Xiaomi CS in the USA, I do not believe I can RMA this device. Please advise.
Thank you,
Sorry I can't help you with consumer rights laws in the USA. I'd be surprised if you couldn't have it repaired or replaced within 12 months from purchase though.

Just called them and they only RMA devices sold within the USA, which does not include mobile phones or smartwatches.
I mean I'll keep the phone, its overall a great device and I am not huge on photos or anything but still.. to have a defect after 2 months? Not giving me much faith in their QC for future purchases.

That's why I still prefer buying phones physically. Also, you could try to repair the device yourself. I think you can buy the camera module online and AFAIK, you can replace each individual camera instead of having all 4 replaced.
You'll lose any waterproofing if you do open it up, it looks like a real chore to get started but here's a vid in case do:
