Can't really blame the lack of updates on Luna New Year, Corona or 10 series release because Mi 9T Pro has received 2 updates since December, what's going on? Not even a scrap of news or rumor of a update anytime soon.

You'd think China rom would get updates more frequently given Xiaomi is a Chinese company but no, eea, global even Indian version Raphaelin k20 pro is getting updates but not us. It's disappointing, China rom imo is the best after debloating and if you ignore that space after apostrophe when using English and lack of security updates.

No it's not EOL, Xiaomi are still releasing regular beta Chinese ROMs for this phone. Unfortunately this is the same with almost all manufacturers, once the initial round of serious bugs have been fixed, stable branch updates come at a glacial pace. Even though Google have recently tried to tie in manufacturers to guaranteed updates for x years, in order to get Google certification, we still do not see this happening from most manufacturers beyond the first 6 -12 months. This is why I first started, with the original Samsung Galaxy S, and continue to use, custom ROMs.
Can someone tell me the update policy of realme x2 pro....Like for how many years will it receive updates?
Any x2 pro users out here, could you also share your experience?
How can we know that dude?
The standard is 2 years, but who knows.

Where did the say that? Did they say December for global (all) devices or just in China?
And Android 12 for x2 pro? Somehow I doubt it, but it would be awesome.

Early access, India only
promised here https://liliputing.com/2021/06/huaweis-3-new-matepad-tablets-run-harmonyos.html
I'm skeptical but that's interesting. I'll have to replace the device anyway this fall (as I need a recent version of Google enterprise services to run on my device) but I suppose it would be nice to have some updates on the P20 Pro if only as a backup device
I already moved on but keeping P20 Pro as backup device (battery replaced). It is very nice form factor, quite light, and camera is still very good even by modern standards. Anyway, will be reading reports of Harmony OS upgrades on P40 with great interest. Not a fan of Huawei UI, but it might be nice to get updates and patches for a 4 year old device
This is good and bad at the same time. On one hand, Huawei has finally adapted a good alternative for android, which means more competition(even if it is a fork). Also we might get Apple-like updates, only time will tell. These updates are opt-in so you are not obligated to use HarmonyOS. On the other hand, you can say goodbye to Google services and any root methods that were possible and not found yet. Huawei"s services are still trash and I fear we won't be able to remove the system apps even with adb. If they pull an ultimatum and allow us to unlock our bootloaders/root our phones.....New OS or not, I am moving to another companies. Maybe Asus/Sony/Xiaomi
Well HarmonyOS really? I don't see a Point Moving to it.. Im more than Happy to use LineageOS 16.0 on it Instead a few Months ago, Well HarmonyOS doesnt Include Google Apps and Kills Root Methods.. well i don't care i will Stick with other Operating Systems on my P20 Pro and will not Go Back to Huawei's Made Software until i will in the Future move to a Different Manufacture (Xiaomi or OnePlus)
In terms of software, I am totally disappointed with Huawei .. also how they Handle the Bootloader Unlock with a code .. Like there is something to hide about EMUI.. sorry but that's ridiculous.
You guys should stop spreading misinformation. P20 Pro came with GMS from the get go. If you upgrade to HarmonyOS on a device that had GMS (officially or LZPlay), GMS will still be totally usable. Even with the final build of HarmonyOS. People already tested this in the betas and final version. Don't believe me? Take a look at this video:

It's the first time I see anyone address the fact Harmony might support GMS. I don't think anyone here was knowingly spreading misinformation, but were rather making reasonable assumptions (I also assumed HarmonyOS wouldn't support GMS, even on my P20). I hope what we see in the video carries over to the final version, it would add a couple of years to the life of the phone
I'm not eager to switch from this totally usable(even great!) phone because of the huge slabs the flagship phones have became in the recent years. I'm not really eager to switch to harmony os either, because of the potential gms problem and integration. The only problem I have is the battery doesn't hold as well as it used to, but that is normal, the phone is 3 years old...
Bottom line, I still love it! It's almost a flawless flagship even today(thinking about changing the battery in their service, but it still lasts me a day)

I agree it's still a serviceable phone, but there are a couple of reasons I will need to jump ship. Lack of a major Android update (we'll be 2 versions behind and my employer doesn't let us keep a phone beyond n-1), and lack of security updates. Locking the bootloader midway through the sales cycle for this phone was a big mistake, it would have been one for the ages.
Guys good news. We gonna get HarmonyOS. Except it will be EMUI 12.

Seeing as we didn't get Android 11 on this phone, I'd be surprised if they provided Android 12. That would be a first, as far as I can tell.
EMUI 12 (beta for now) for older global devices has been confirmed to be Android 10 - based with some bits of HarmonyOS UI code. Nova 9 has been an exception, as it was released with Android 11 - based EMUI 12.x. I highly doubt we will ever get an updated Android 11 - based EMUI 12 on our older devices, when it gets out of Beta.

Well, thats mega annoying, had some hope we get a up2date OS once again. Shame on Huawei, after my P20 Pro im done with them for sure too. Not that they restrict Hardware Levels, APIs and so on, but this is too much on top.
Can you record phone calls with this OS?

Small updates every week or two? PD2145C_A_5.13.31 is more than 6 weeks old, and no Android 12 update on the horizon. The phone is great, but update policy concerning Google major updates is bad, but surprisingly mainly for OriginOS, not for FuntouchOS, which had a Android 12 update months ago.

not really surprising, since originos is something new they started not so long ago, and are still developing it. They first want it to be stable with the android 11 they started it with, before adding bugs from trying to make it compatible with a new android version
Also OP wrote this post like 4 weeks ago, just saying
Now the latest version is PD2145C_A_5.13.41))
Bye, bye Android 12 and further major updates, another feedback from Vivo Global Support
“OriginOS Ocean is a smartphone operating system that is deeply optimized, customized, and developed based on the Android system. It has independent supporting functions and performance optimization mechanisms, such as: system interface, built-in functions and applications, and interaction methods are all in-depth optimization functions. The functions and interfaces of the native systems are quite different. Due to the different hardware capabilities and configurations of each model, some models will continue to use the original Android version based on comprehensive consideration of operating stability, fluency, and compatibility after each model is upgraded to OriginOS Ocean. No matter what Android version your phone is based on, you can experience the new changes brought by OriginOS Ocean, so please continue to use it with confidence.“
Who the heck needs Android 12 if you have OriginOS Ocean?
Don‘t get me wrong, I am happy with my Vivo X70 Pro+ but why Vivo is promising (three) Android Major Updates for the X70 series but don‘t deliver? Android 13 is coming soon, this is so disappointing for a flagship device.
Origin OS Ocean is simply a skin put on the Android firmware by Vivo. The Vivo X Note that I am using, for example, has the Origin OS Ocean firmware (since it was only released in China and there is no FunTouch global firmware for the Vivo X Note). My phone, however is Android 12, not Android 11.

I know the difference between skin and operating system……I am SW-Developer.
It‘s just dissapointing to me that Vivo has such a bad SW update service to there flagship phones. I paid a lot of money and most people around me with much cheaper phones had a Android 12 update month ago. Flagship phones got a update around 6 month ago.
I bought a Vivo X80 Pro for my wife, this is on Android 12. But now I am afraid that this phone will also get no Android major update.
Anyway, it is at it is. But my next phone won‘t be a Vivo anymore, despite the great hardware.

But you do notice a huge difference between your wife's an yours phone? Because I have android 12 on my xiaomi tablet. And as far as I can see it's only about design and no substantial functionality change is made.
And Ocean is all about design itself. Aside great functionality.

No, the differences are subtle concerning the UX. There are some more detailed settings, nothing really important. But the phone is more energy efficient with Android 12, better battery life and less standby consumption overnight.
But that‘s not the point. If you pay around € 900 for a phone and everybody around you got Android 12 updates for there much cheaper devices you are not satisfied. Especially if the vendor promises contemporary Android Major updates (three for the X70 series).
Let‘s finish this discussion: Vivo X70 Pro+ is a great device (with Android 11). But the update Service for this device doesn‘t satisfy MY expectations.
Does anyone know how many android OS updates Vivo has promised for the x90 pro plus.
None are promised. 1-2 based on history of the China OS phones. E.g x70 pro+ the direct successor only got a single one so far from Android 11 to 13. It never got 12 and security updates arrived late. No monthly updates on security updates but rather 2-3 monthly in it's first 18 months. The funtouch OS x70 pro+ on the other hand received Android 12 and 13 as well as more timely updates.
I think no China OS vivo ever received more than 2 major upgrades and that's when they didn't skip one.
Security Updates run for 2.5 years or so.
Basically Vivo considers your phone to be junk after that time and expects you to upgrade. Resale value after 2 years therefore next to nothing....

Hmmm I saw on a website that x90 and x90 pro will get three major os upgrades so maybe the pro plus will get three as well? I think I can live with 2 major upgrades as my Xiaomi Mi 9 from android 9 had its final upgrade to android 11. Even though I can blu and root the device for custom ROMs I've never liked the look of AOSP based ROMs so haven't bothered.
It's either the x90 pro plus or the vivo X fold plus for me. The ppi of X fold plus is only 360 ppi on an 8inch seems quite low and I'm not sure how images and icons will look on it compared to ~517ppi of the x90 pro plus.
The promise is only for funtouch OS, and while the x70 pro plus with funtouch OS got android 12 and 13, origin OS only got 13 and never 12....
With the x70pro+ the real precessor of the x90pro+ I would not hold much hope. Especially seeing it will enter March on December security update which for a new flagship is simply intolerable. Xiaomi and BBK seem to outdo each other in who can provide slower updates, but BBK clearly wins on the we can provide less major upgrades than any other major producer...
And no no bootloader unlock/root for x90 series! So no way for AOSP.
Probably about 2 years worth of steady updates and maybe one last year of small patches.

Steady yes, but as shown so far that doesn't mean including security updates, nor major Android versions. It could well happen to x90pro+ origin OS 4 comes out on Android 13 instead of Android 14...
Like Huawei on some phones where they pushed updates updating next to nothing, even claiming to include security patches, and not including them (without root hard to asses, but in retroperspect you can notice it. E g huawei p30pro last 18 months only every second update actually included the claimed security patches - BBK and Xiaomi aren't good at fully integrating them either. Only google/Samsung are reliable there. However so far only Huawei outright didn't include anything of a claimed security patch).
my ex VIvo x70 pro plus received 3 Origin OS versions (1.0 - 2.0 - 3.0)
The X90 PP came out with OriginOS 3.0 (I think at least 2-3 major updates will be available)
But Origin OS 2.0 on the X70 Pro+ was based on Android 11 not 12!
Will it receive O OS 4.0? maybe, maybe not. Maybe based on Android 13...
I much rather keep the old rotten oranges OS but get a new Android version than the other way round.

I don't care much about the android version that mounts a specific interface
(Just look at huawei with its EMUI 13 which has only recently arrived with Android13)
Who wants the latest android that takes a Galaxy or Pixel, certainly not Vivo
The question in this thread here was however how many Android versions will it get.
And yeah - Huawei is a perfect example - I didn't see any improvements but just degradation for myself in EMUI updates - while missing all the goodies of new functionality offered by Android OS updates.
At least Vivo allows removing the stupid dual drop down status menu./quicksettings. Hated that on EMUI like the pest. I run Nova launcher - and the less I have to interfere with EMUI or rotten oranges the better!
Everyone here has different opinions on what is important.

There is one huge advantage of the latest android version - while most (especially Chinese and Indian) phone producers have been found to cheat on security updates and not include all of them - a major android version means you can be 100% assured that all old patches are included. Of course producers adapting the OS can create new holes apart from the AOSP source - but at least you know that those are fixed.
Man I've been researching for a month now the vivo X fold plus or the x90 pro plus as my next phone. Now I'm not so sure which one to buy. I would prefer the actual os upgrade with new features instead of origin os version upgrades without new features or missing security patches. It's all confusing.
Well when it comes to updates don't get a BBK phone. Even Xiaomi is slightly better and they really rally for who can be worse...
Asus and Motorola aren't great but a bit better.
Honor seems to be best on flagships for a Chinese company and their pricing isn't China halt price of the rest of the world but pretty similar...
Just to note, the x70 pro plus origin OS, which was just released last week manages to be on November security patch... Maybe they think half yearly is fine? I mean the phone is already 1.5 years old. Why would you want current updates on such an old phone? It's time to throw it away and get a new much better one....

My nearly 4 year old P30Pro today got Android February security patches (after previously being on December patch) - X90Pro+ nothing to be seen...
I guess it will go straight to March Update. So right now the X90Pro+ seems on a 3 months update cycle - and that right after release....
Guess next year it will move to 6 months?

Ah I guess this shortly is vivo speak for nothing happening in 17 days .. (and then the staged rollout using trial updates will take at least 7 days more for stable updates once it's ever published...
X90PP still having received a single security update since it was released (December patch end of December) likely that one was considered important as by that time many reviews written.
Stating something as a fact that doesn't happen...
Seems we have to be lucky if that crappy software with a 9.8 rated actively exploited bug is updated every three months. Sales of x90pro+ must have been dismal vs the expectations after the huge marketing campaign so now just treat it like a budget phone update wise...
Btw the march security patches by google include a fix for a zero day exploit which is actively exploited (full phone can be taken over, bug in the Samsung modem) and it's enough to know the telephone number of the user... Several vivo phones affected, amongst them x30,x50,x60 series... No patch yet for them.. Samsung and google published the updates for affected phones already, vivo hasn't. But yeah who cares, it's just a 9.8 /10 critical bug, right?
There was a 9.7 level bug in the February update that applies to the x90pp. It's very likely it's actively exploited too otherwise it would not get such a high score... This no update policy is simply a security nightmare by vivo.
Can only hope that google announces to remove certification for phones with slow updates else vivo likely won't improve...
BTW - the X90 Pro global version has already the March patches. It would be super unlikely if the X90pro+ ever receives an earlier patch level...
And I call it bull**** that it's difficult to implement a security patch (as long as it doesn't "fix" some bugs that you deliberately opened e.g. for spyware. The X90 Pro+ has March security updates and it was compiled on 1. March. Meaning within hours of the patch files being available Vivo had alredy compiled the finished version.
That's why Custom Android versions also always had the newest patches very quickly.
X90Pro+ is 3 months behind on security updates vs X90Pro and most other phones. it's pretty incredible. BBKs most expensive flagship phone and simply no updates...
