About Galaxy S20 FE Snapdragon Version - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

I would like your opinion about this device because I'm going to change smartphones I would like to know if it runs the game called genshin impact, or would it be better to invest in poco x3 pro? thanks!

I'll try that. Haven't done my dailys anyways. But I can't tell you the difference to other smartphones because my previous phone was a low-mid range phone from 3 years ago for 250€ on amazon.
I have the 4G version Snapdragon 128GB, 6 GB Ram.
I'll post the results later in the evening/tomorrow.
There is one thing I can already tell you, when you install the game and let it download the main game(15GB) minimize the game. Because when it reached around 20% it downloaded with 10mb/s but then dropped to 1mb/s. I guess that's because the phone got a little warm.. Now with it being minimized it downloads at around 3-4mb/s. Maximizing it will increase the speed to your networks maximum again... But when minimized it downloads slower even if the phone isn't warm.
I tried switching my wifi from 5ghz to 2.4ghz and I think the speed in minimized mode increased a little bit but only by about 0.5mb/s -> to a speed of 3.5mb/s - 4.8mb/s.

I mean, if it runs the game without problems, since I haven't seen almost any custom ROM for the S20 FE Snapdragon, the poco x3 pro has many.

Here you go, two vids doing dailies and a dungeon.
I only noticed after uploading that my brightness was set to low
The graphic settings are set to highest and frame rate to 60
Please dont mind my bad controlling and gaming.. it's my first time playing it on a phone and I dont play any other mobile games besides sudoku.
Recording made it lag a little bit more. When you encounter a new area there is a tiny lag sometimes but not too bad.
I was also thinking about buying the poco but it doesnt have a oled display...
What I wanted was a relative good camera - samsung wins - oled display - samsung wins -
And a relative new snapdragon - samsung wins again -.
And another thing that was important is that I didn't want another china phone...

Hahaha, I would like to know why the s20 fe It doesn't have custom roms, and the pit x3 pro does

2 custom roms are being worked on now (I've used one in alpha status myself) and once their device trees are proven more will be likely to follow.
without Samsung phones being unlockable in the states many devs have moved on from Samsung snapdragon phones. the majority of the world outside of the US and Canada gets Exynos versions of S series phones, and they're completely different. this phone is still locked for US and Canadian owners but not for everyone else but it also came out mid release cycle of the regular S series so many people had already spent their money if they planned to buy a Samsung. other Samsung phones that are snapdragon based also have next to no custom roms, it'll take time for people to learn how to develop for this SoC and firmware layers from scratch again.

Ah yes now I get it, I don't know if I'm right with that now but back in the day it was easier to build ROMs for Snapdragon versions than for exynos versions, I don't know if I'm right about that or the other way around, but I use poco f1 and I was in doubt which one to buy, between poco x3 pro with 8/256 Snap 860 or s20 fe Snapdragon 865, 6/128, since my focus is games because in poco f1 for me to be able to play I had to put ROM customized and I still play with everything at the minimum, if the game crashes I would have the chance to change the ROM and improve its performance, but on the s20 fe there will be no way.

on snapdragon FEs we already have custom kernels and the GPU can be overclocked.

the system on stock roms can be made faster by removing lots of stock app packages too. the thing to be wary of is that many FE handsets have a screen touch response bug that is intermittent.
every once in a while a section of the screen can stop responding to touch. that makes it not the best choice for gaming, otherwise I would say it's pretty decent.

eso, in your opinion, i should buy the poco x3 pro, because of the custom roms, and leave the s20 fe aside, even with a better camera,Because my focus will be on the genshin impact game, and I will have custom roms to improve its performance!

how you spend your money should be your choice alone because you're the one who has to live with that choice. but for gaming the FE has this problem which I think you should be aware of.

so I'm going from poco x3 to the same, it shouldn't have much difference in performance in the end, thank you very much for helping, it really helped a lot. end new year hahahaha

Snapdragon or Exynos

guys, i was looking for a new device and came to note 4, but isee there 2 versions Snapdragon and Exynos
these benchmarks are old and since we are like nearly a year further since release in my country witch should i get of the 2
most ppl voted for the Exynos ver on this forum but i dont go read like 200+ posts,
what i want to do wit hthe device
gaming,
watching anime 10bit h264 / h265 mkv/flac
custom firmware something like archidroid witch i used on s3
help me out abit , the on paper reviews dont say everything its more about true phone power, stability, laggless, ofc speed to
as far as ive seen reviews , snapdragon is best in gpu depending stuff while Exynos does the multi process/task stuff but those revies are from 2014 dunno if anything has changed with the firmwares and so

leeco le 2 's x62X models are having Mediatek helios X20 and X25 SoC and x52X models are having Snapdragon 652 SoC.
Mediatek helios x20 and x25 is more powerful than snapdragon 652. But they are having very weak gpu's which mean you cant really play high graphic games on them without any lags!
And in different parts of the world Leeco has launched same phones with same specs but with different Network bands so they all are having different names and all other specs are exactly the same.
For eg: In India leeco launched leeco le 2(x526) which is same as the leeco le 2(x520) in China and the same phone in Russia is named as X527 and in US leeco launched it under the name Leeco S3 (x522) they all are having snapdragon 652 SoC and same specs, but the only difference between them all is that they are having different bands.

Yes , You can flash. but you might have to change the updater script as the company(Leeco) has released different official builds for different models not for all models, Iam not sure that you have to edit the updater script or not. So you can try your luck. And don't flash leeco le 2, Meditek model rom on your phone as it can brick your phone.

What makes you think that 4xA72 kernels in the SD652 are slower than 2xA72 kernels in the Helio X20? You can discard the little A53 kernels altogether as they contribute very little to peak performance of the device.
My personal experience using MTK Helio X25 and X27 devices is that they are optimized strictly for certain testing apps. They don't (and cannot) work as fast in real-world apps as they do in the tests due to poor CPU governors; the poor governors, in turn, are the result of the sheer complexity of the tri-cluster architecture. In my experience, SD652 devices are not only snappier in real use, they overheat much less and last longer than Helio X25/X27 counterparts.
Helio X25/X27 can and should be compared with Snapdragon 650, a SoC with only two 'big' A72 cores.

Hi,
I will like to tell you that First of all Mediatek helio x20, x25 and x27 are having 10 cores( 2A72 + 4A53 + 4A53) They are well made under 20 nm Manufacturing Process. It is just a full package of everything which a SoC needs to be. But the only thing it lacks is a good GPU and some optimization. They can just wreck off a Sd 652 even could have competed with a sd820 if they had a slightly powerful GPU. They were mostly used by some Chinese brands which don't really care about optimization so that's why they are not implemented well.
Now, sd652 has 4 A72 cores at 1.8ghz and Mtk x25 has 2 A72 Core at better 2.6 GHz frequency. And the 4 A72 cores in sd652 are not up all time because of thermal throttling in order to maintain the temperature so most of the times it shuts 2 of its A72 cores.
According to my experience with Helios x25 and Sd 652 on my Leeco le 2 pro and Le 2 respectively I can say that Helio X25 can easily defeat the Sd 652 in CPU rendering stuff........

Thank you, I can count to ten The "little" cores contribute very little to peak performance. Consider SD652 a 4.4 cores, and X20 a 2.8 cores CPU, and things start looking much more logical. I understand the argument of thinner manufacturing process (20nm Helio X20 vs 28nm SD652), as well as the higher peak clock speed of the MTK processor. In reality, however, things don't work as they do on the spec sheet. CPU governors, optimization and many other factors affect both performance and battery life.
In real life, a typical SD652 smartphone is smoother and just "feels" faster than a typical X25 device; games run better; apps launch faster. Battery life is surprisingly much better on the SD652: I've got similar battery life on SD652 phones with 3000mAh batteries compared to a 4000mAh battery in an X27 device. Be it because of the drivers, optimization, or some other factors is another matter entirely. Specs don't tell the whole story.

Android Pie Note 9 Snapdragon vs Eynos?

We have reached that time where the price of the Note 9 has dropped enough that it has become a really attractive option for those of us looking for a feature packed flagship phone at well below the $1000 mark.
I have decided that I am going to buy the Note 9, it's just a case of deciding which variant. I live in Southern Africa where we don't have support for Samsung Pay and we are not ready for the latest LTE technologies, so as long as I have working LTE, I am not concerned too much about these features.
With that said, it's still desireable to me to have the fastest option I can get within my budget because I want a fast and fluid user experience.
Apparently the Android Pie update has improved the performance of the Eynos variants of the Note 9 by a considerable amount.
So my question is, as it stands today, how does the Snapdragon variant compare to the Exynos variant in terms of performance?
Aside from performance and rooting, what other considerations or differences are there when deciding between the Hong Kong N9600 and the global N960FD variants? (Are there any major drawbacks or issues to consider when selecting one variant over the other? Build quality, storage performance/ Inferior components in one model vs the other etc..) (I read that snapdragon has touch latency. How bad is it and are there any other issues on either variant)
One unfortunate consideration is that my favorite color, the Metallic Copper, is unfortunately not available in N9600 variant. I have seen that the new white color is available in N9600 but I actually prefer the Note 9 in darker colors.
Note. I have confirmed that both variants support the bands for local mobile operators
Please help me decide!!!
how does the Snapdragon variant compare to the Exynos variant in terms of performance? This question has been answered countless times, just search "note 9 exynos vs snapdragon" on YouTube and you'll find loads of content. The difference is pretty small, I'm pretty sure you'd find it hard to notice any difference in real life.
Fastest - Probably N9600
Build quality - The same
storage performance - The same
Inferior components in one model vs the other - As far as we know, there should be no differences other than the SOC.
I searched for "touch latency" in the N9 Q&A area and this thread was the only thing that appeared, so I'd say that's probably not much of an issue.
The only difference worth mentioning other than performance and rooting as you mentioned, is game emulation, basically the Exynos isn't really supported.

I have searched for the difference on YouTube and google but the results are related to tests that were done before the Android Pie upgrade, as mentioned in my post above. There are some comments on those YouTube videos and on the Anandtech website where people are claiming that the performance of the Exynos variant has improved significantly, however there don't seem to be any official tests to confirm this. With so many members in this forum having both variants, I am hoping that we can get some answers here.
In the Anandtech tests, the Snapdragon variant was quite considerably faster in nearly every test. Certainly nowhere near evenly matched.
So, how close is the performance of the Exynos variant now after the Pie update with One UI?
Thanks for the feedback on the other questions.
So all you really need is someone to test an Exynos device on Oreo and Pie and see if the results differ. I'm happy to do that for you a bit later, name me the benchmarks you'd like to see and I'll see what I can do.

If you don't mind (Since this will be quite a time consuming process), yes please, I think it would be really interesting to compare the Pie (On One UI) results with those in the Anandtech tests.
I'm not sure if I am allowed to post the link but you can Google the Note 9 Snapdragon vs Exynos test by Anandtech.
They used the following benchmarks:
PCMark 2.0
3DMark
GFXBench
Speedometer 2.0 (Runs in your Browser. Google it)
WeXPRT 3 (Runs in your browser. Google it)
Sounds good to me, I'll be flashing the Oreo and Pie versions of Devbase as it's as stable as it gets.
for what its worth here are some geekbench results done on a korean n960n exynos ( its not a 9600 or 960f as stated in recent discussions but i can vouch for the build quality, have not seen one screen or other defect issue reported from an other n960n user. cant say the same for 960f or 960u...forums are full of them)

Out of interest, where was the n960n manufactured? It seems like the n960n is considerably less popular on XDA (a quick search in the Q&A area shows a total of about 5 threads referencing the device, out of the ~770 total threads), which is probably why we see less issues reported.
I know that 960f is for Australia and Europe.

I've just finished testing Oreo vs Pie. Unlike Anandtech, I'm not using obfuscated applications IDs to avoid benchmark detection, I'm just installing direct from the Play store, so I don't know if that will have any effect on the scores. I'm also letting the device cool between tests and running on battery power (In the 50 - 70% range) as that seems like the best way to keep things consistent.
Here are the Oreo results: https://photos.app.goo.gl/JrA2XdaB8zcTZbNV9
And the Pie results: https://photos.app.goo.gl/HDGmEENdVsPLkdCJ7
It does indeed seem like some improvements have been made, I don't know where the improvements come from, whether it's the newer version of Android or tweaks Samsung have made. It'd be interesting if an owner of a Snapdragon device could do similar tests.

Those are some interesting results across the board. It is clear that Samsung has done a fair amount of optimization although the SD845 is still faster in most of the benchmarks according to Anandtech results.
Thank you so much for the detailed time and effort that you have put into running the benchmark tests and uploading the results.
I think you just may have convinced me to go for the Exynos variant in the color that I want, knowing that the performance has improved to within reach of the SD845. :good:
I wasn't really trying to convince you one way or another but to be honest, I'd say the colour of the device is possibly more important, you're looking at the device every time you use it but the performance difference between the two SOC's in real life is pretty negligible.
Exynos version has a stock call recording feature. Snapdragon not. This thing it a most important for me.

korea!
yeah i know but of those threads, i would of thought that at lest once would an issue come up. i also had a note 8, same deal, n950n pristine device. no one ever complained. but again as you point out, might be simple probability
one thing to consider, if the devices were not targeted to as a big population as the F's or U's( no pun intended lol ) then quality control might have been better because they simply produced less and... Maybe they produce nicer phones for themselves...lol you don't chit where you eat as they say.
edit
for what its worth, i had started a thread about note 9 issues:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/how-to/note-9-country-origin-vs-defects-t3841388
I wouldn't bother with any of that. Get a note 9 from whomever offers the best warranty would be my first choice of criteria.

So i have now the note 4 ...i know old runner
But it's amazing phone
And of course i need to upgrade
There's a deal for note 9 for about 660$
But the problem it is exynos version
I can't make a decision
I wanted the snapdragons version it's not available any where i live
And there is no option expect the (one plus 6t) and it is near the same price
I think every advantage go to Samsung
The display the camera The mic the vibration motor
Just the processor is the advantage to the OnePlus and the 2gig of ram
But again it's exynos and i read allot of thing about the performance and the battery drain withe allot of benchmark and test
I play games ((pubg)) especially
Can you advice me ..?
How is the phone after pie update?
And did you play games...how was the performance ?
I consider my self heavy user
I don't know what to do i think my head is melting ....these a big thing to me i don't change my phone offen
And Samsung was good with me in the note serice
But the SOC is very frustrated
Thanks and sorry for my English

If your budget allows you to spend more, you can get a Note 9 with a Snapdragon processor from eBay (imported from Hong Kong) for around U$700 - 800 including shipping. If you are fixed at $660 then there really isn't anything to consider, just go for the option (Eynos Note 9) that you have available to you now.
I think its clear from the results posted earlier in this thread that the performance of the Exynos variants has improved with Android Pie and isn't trailing too far behind the Snapdragon variants anymore. Battery life has also improved a lot since the launch of the S9 series with the same SoC.
As stated in earlier posts, the real-world performance difference is very small. The Eynos 9810 is still very much a flagship SoC and is more than capable of delivering top performance in the games that are currently available on Android. Coming from a Note 4, your new Exynos based Note will feel buttery smooth while delivering plenty of value in other areas as well. (Battery life, screen quality, features like new Bluetooth S-pen and wireless charging, camera image quality etc..)
As a side note, the Exynos variants seem to be getting updated to Android Pie with One UI already, while the Snapdragon variants are still waiting.

Thank you very much for answering
I think you convince me to go with note 9
I can't order from eBay it's out of my budget
I think the performance gab between the two has decreased now after pie update
And i care allot for developer community in the long way
That's what makes my note 4 useable until now
One thing i can't keep out of my head
There's a phone half the price of mine with faster SOC and better game play (pocophone)
But as a package
I will go with note 9 exynos and try to forget :victory:

General Samsung Exynos 2200 is here - ALL you NEED to KNOW!

Hi guys,
It`s here. It is happening. The leaksters were wrong! Samsung unveiled officially the Exynos 2200 and it is full of surprises and promises.
Big promises were made by Samsung and I really like it! I will make sure to check all of that once I get my hands on the S22 Ultra.
One of he most exciting topics is the new AMD RDNA v2 coming with the brad new Samsung Xclipse 920 GPU! So no more Adreno, no more Mali, let`s see what Xclipse can do! Also new ISP supporting up to 200 mpx and zero shutter lag up to 108 mpx (insane), new NPU unit (2x smart as S21 series), new display supporting up to 144 Hz, of course HRD10+ and with over 1700 brightness nits... It all sounds too good to be true!
Check this video and learn ALL you KNEED to KNOW for the Samsung Exynos 2200.
It seems not very good
First Exynos 2200 benchmarks emerge
We'd advise against reading too much into those at this point though. Samsung just unveiled its Exynos 2200 flagship SoC for 2022 and MySmartPrice has the...

Honestly speaking it depends - I for one would prefer a good compromise between performance and battery life to plain High-Score-grabbing....
But admittedly it's a bit early to judge

Question Can you share your experience with this phone?

I want a new phone, and i need to choose between this and oneplus 9 (i like flat screen)
I tried the phone for a litte of time and here are my observations and concerns:
When you setup the phone, MIUI asks you if you want personalized ADS. WTF?! ADS?
When you lock the screen, you have a wallpaper carousel with some stupid ads, in order to disable them, you need to deny all permissions on wallpaper app.
You cant uninstall, or disable some stupid apps from MIUI
You receive a lot of notifications from useless bloatware apps
You can remove the notifications from that apps, but the app still runs on background and eats battery
When you install poweramp, you can't choose the root memory or some existing folder as source for the media, you need to create a specific folder, wtf?!!!
Wifi + Mobile data works bad with wireless android auto, sometimes mobile data don't work
You receive some stupid notification from "security" when installing apps from play store
You have some stupid avast antivirus app
The battery life seems to be better when using a normal slow charger and not the 120w
i saw that to unlock bootloader you have to make a xiaomi account and wait 7 days? WTF???
TWRP don't work good with MIUI 13 / Android 12
for root + safetynet you need to do way more operations than with oneplus or pixel
Anyone had the same issues or concerns i listed above?
Has someone debloated fully the phone? How is the experience after debloat?
Someone that has root, can you upgrade MIUI without losing the data and keep root + debloat?
Can someone with a custom rom share his experience?

I have used their ROMS since i have had a Redmi Note7, went to MI10T Lite and now on 11T Pro and always went to xiaomi.eu version
I have had this equipment for about 3 months, and the truth is disappointing, the real performance is lower than the F3, the heat dissipation is very bad, I recently updated it to miui 13 and lowered the temperature a bit, but the benchmark results dropped a lot, in miui 12.5 antutu it gave me approximately 790k and now they stabilized at 720k maximum, the same geekbench 5 before in single 1100 and 3400 multi now with miui 13 single 820 and 3150 multi... You pay for a device with snapdragon 888 but it performs less than 870.

with global rom, permission settings is a little noisy. Most of your concern will gone if you move to xiaomi.eu rom
So about the hardware
1. No proximity sensor
2. Screen brightness unstable
3. Wired camera saturation
4. Tone of ear speaker is mid-low little bassy. I need to Increase max volume for clearly voice and people around me can hear it too.
battery life is awesome and main camera too just wished it had ois

Using 11t (non-pro) since January 1st. Great battery life , fast charging speed 90 fps in pubg mobile. Great value for money didn't encountered any ad in miui. Except for sound pauses in Bluetooth when message is received no issues found. Excellent speaker quality. No heating issues here. If you are buying a phone with photography as main concern then this one ain't for ya , the camera isnt bad but it aint best either. The only thing I am missing is a kernel source and a dedicated xda thread .
My phone is 3 days old, EEA rom(V12.5.19.0.RKDEUXM),
the first benchmarks was at 870/3250 and today 1127/3503.
nothing has been changed or added, the only difference is that the battery was at 30% for the former and 96% for the latter.

I bought this phone. I've tested about 10 days. First issue I noticed was battery drain at medium or lite usage (social apps, settings customizing, and Youtube). Also, phone was heating a lot with basic usage like using UI. I didn't want to lose time and returned phone. It possess SD888, but I assume hardware is not optimized to manage such processor. I consider hardware is good, but it's not integrated properly with MIUI 12.5 nor 13 version.
I haven't experienced any issues. MIne came around April 2 or 3 perhaps. So far, so f*cking good
After 5 months, Vibrator not working.
I bought the phone in
I did not have any problem with the phone, very cool phone, but I replaced the charging cord because I found that using 120W charging raises the temperature of the battery
after use miui 13 After about three months of use I found out that miui 13 It has more and more problems A lot of the feature doesn't work so back to miui eu 12.5.10
Things I like about the phone
The phone has a very good sound
Excellent screen
good camera
great battery
things I didn't like
I did not like miui It's really too bad
