Hello
I still use my note with last Oreo. Everything running fast and without problems.
I think that the best software android version, most stable and overall good is with which the device appears on the market. But with Note 9 is otherwise, so please help me in this .
Android 10 is a lot of better from stable 8.1?
If you still enjoy it...
For most people the newer the better.
Is it really that battery life is better in oreo? Maybe, as I remember easily could get 6hrs of sot but still that time it was new, so of course the battery performance was better.
I'm on 10 and have no problems at all. Can get 8h screen time on wifi with my usage. Bought phone in March this year brand new. The 512GB Exynos model.
Thanks for answers. I'am afraid after update worse photo quality, lower screen brightness, lower GSM network (A9 for me had lower signal GSM) and overall slower running.
This update is unfortunately "one way ticket".
But for me general advantages A10 is gestures and maybe safety (i very rarely install new applications and control access before install), newer interface but whether better?
This all depends on whether or not that you use mobile banking or financial apps on your Note 9. If you do then I would advise that you install the android 10 update onto your device to patch up the security flaws. Otherwise you leave your device opened to hackers to steal your personal financial data.
I don't use any banking and financial services on my Note 9. Only standard use- texting, making photos, Internet, phone calls.
So new interface ans gestures is worth update or maybay stay with sure 8.1 and still enjoy it?

Hi, @_GRIZZLY_
If you are happy using Oreo on your Note9, I would not update to Android 10.
I updated from Pie to Android 10 only because of security concerns - the 0-click vulnerability - after receiving a lot of "Likee" codes in Samsung Messages (freaked me out, lol).
Me not likee "Likee" codes, so after reading about Samsung Messages being updated in Android 10, I updated.
I also removed via adb the Samsung "honeyboard" keyboard, Sticker Center, and Keyboard Content Center. Giving AnySoftKeyboard (from F-droid) a spin instead of using Samsung keyboard.
In Android 10, the Samsung Keyboard "Honeyboard," Samsung Clock, and Samsung Gallery are integrated with other applications (Google Search, Google Translate, YouTube, FourSquare (location in Gallery), Spotify). Some folks may enjoy using integrated apps, though.
I'm still on Oreo and consistantly getting 7 to 8 hours of SOT. Plus One UI is just ad ridden.
Oreo SOT from 100% to 10% 8-9 hours.
Happy with Oreo Exynos model.
Thanks for answers. So conclusion is only one- I'am stay with Oreo. Maybe i will do factory reset after 9 months from last reset.
After 2 years look Oreo is little booring for me but looking more serious than OneUI. I use black theme made by samsung from theme store. Of course ths is only my opinion about look interface .
I have my N960N upgrade to One UI 2.1 and it has been running pretty well. Of course I use it for backing up my N950N, which is currently my daily driver. I will probably switch to my N960N. Once my N950N's battery
Oreo is great but life and especially Note 9 life is too short for using all the time only one version OS.
What with photo quality on the A10? Is better, worse, similar compare to Oreo?
No problems with led notification?

Well as you can see One UI is ad infested now and some of the edge panels are gone now.

I don't use edge panels but infested interface is disappoiting.
With this decision good samsung ends.
Thanks for info.
When someone will support this device
To be honest I think the days of Samsung flagships running Android in that form has long gone sadly. The phone would be an absolute beast running closer to stock android.
This is what Google hasn't figured out. Make a phone that does it all and it's a winner..not since the Nexus days has it been that way. Beyond the camera obviously...will it change with the new pixel remains to be seen
Yes that's why I'd like to combine powerful hardware ( samsung ) with lineage os ( smoothness) would be great
Hey guys! Swapped from a oneplus 8 pro. I forgot how much I hate oxygen OS...Love the devices but oxygen OS is just ehhhhh. I had been running custom AOSP ROM for the longest time. How long until these devices generally get custom ROM? Pixel experience or lineage would be sweeeeeeet.
Also whats up with the lack of MEMC?? That was the best part of stock oneplus 8. Pretty sure the 9 had it as well. Am I just missing it or is it gone?
It depends upon many factors like which ROM you are flashing, It's Size, Recovery, Device Configuration etc. I flashed MIUI 6 in my old HTC Desire 616 and it took approx 10 to 15 minutes to flash and boot, First boot after flashing a room usually takes time so keep patience.
I guess upon previous phones that it might take around 3 months to get first initial custom ROM builds.

Depends on the phone mate, some have them made before the phone releases.
Evo X has a placeholder for a ROM on the 10 which I'm praying is remotely close to what we had on the 8 pro.
I'm sure lineage will make its way and probably some Magisk ROMs.
Point is it has to happen..it's one of the best phones in the world at the moment but it has a crap OS, so yea I'd say well get some ROMs, hopefully the right ones like Evo.

Man I hope so! I personally ran EVO for quite some time and it was pretty good. The only reason I swapped was because of some android auto issues I had running it with Headunit Reloaded on my android unit in my car. I no longer do that so I wouldnt mind an EVO port to the 10 pro! Lineage makes its way to every phone at some point. I guess I'll suck it up and stick with OOS for a little while.
Oneplus should just hire the guys behind pixel experience or one of the other large ones and use them for their next phone. That would probably be a hit.
Yea I agree mate, I also think I remember you asking about auto.
Funny you mention hiring that guys, that's kind of how OnePlus started, they hired someone who made Cyanogen mod, the now lineage.
They've moved far from them humble roots.. but so long as the community keeps going and it remains strong then in my eyes it'll remain a great device.
The more source code that's released, the better the ROM prospects...
So right now i'm on my OnePlus 8 Pro and i'm pretty alright with it.
Although i have option of upgrading to the 10 Pro.
I love that i still have Roms to install on the OP8P but right now i see none on the 10 Pro + No customization.
Do you think there will be some rom's/mods anything that will be worthy rooting the device ?
A few prior thoughts....
How long does it take to get Custom ROM?

I had an online chat with someone at OnePlus expressing my dissatisfaction that the final 7Pro build was still Android 12. (I didn't bother to mention that I had abandoned their stock Android a year or more ago when updates became almost non-existent.)
This person told me that the 7Pro phone was not capable of running Android 13.
I presently have the newest Lineage Android 13 installed and running like a champ.
OnePlus has fallen so far since I bought my 7Pro. A year later I bought an 8Pro and sold it off as I didn't like it. I bought a Pixel 6Pro and love it. OnePlus was briefly the developer's and power users' go to phone but that ended suddenly. Now I wouldn't consider another OnePlus phone. As I said my 7Pro is doing great with Android 13 and OnePlus is a lying has been.
My cousin has the 10 and it seems like it could be pretty fire

There are several Android 13 ROMs for OnePlus 7 Pro. I've been using Lineage 20 for several months. It is my preferred ROM.
OnePlus 7 Pro ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other D
Improve your OnePlus 7 Pro's battery life, performance, and look by rooting it and installing a custom ROM, kernel, and more.

You'll probably need to download Gapps too.

Good luck friend.

But will it ever run custom ROMs? We haven't seen much progress with any of the other post-Oppo-acquisition OnePlus phones.
