Hello everyone. I'm Alain, from Belgium. Ive been a big fan of smartphones even before they were called like that.
My fist "smartphone" was an Ericsson R380s and the second was a Nokia Communicator 9110i. That was in 2000 I think. I used to flash rom on all my Android smartphones and XDA has always been my favorite forum for this. Its been a while though, since I'm not falshing my phones anymore.
This is the place where you get inspired to flash again ..... Enjoy !

Hello!
firstly, thanks to everyone for such a fantastic resource. I always enjoy reading about the latest bits of user made software and trying out delicious freshly baked roms...
I have been a winmo user for about 5 years now (many MANY phones ) but, sadly, i have just purchased a nokia N95 8Gb (i basically couldn't refuse the offer) but one thing that really annoys me about it (and i havent got it yet! it arrives tomorrow) is the lack of intelligent, and credible sources of user discussion and content generation (such as this fantastic site). I really will miss it!
Does anyone know of a good symbian forum/irc/site in a similar vain to xda-dev? I have visited www.allaboutsymbian.com and wasnt impressed with the manner or technical level of its users... maby i just didnt dig deep enough.
Anyway, thanks again!
wish me luck on the s60 side... ill have a tytnII if it all goes tits up

I spit in the face of Symbian!Ptui!! Although, you could go over to mobiholics.com, I know youll be back soon because we all know youre going over there to sell the phone.
i got a p1i, and my super device of all time, the athena has since been neglected... maybe that will change with the release of the real athena project rom..
so i too am looking for symbian-developers.com

Just thought I'd introduce myself real quick like.
The names Kjell (say it like shell, but with a German accent) and currently living in Norway. I've lived most of my life in the US though. (Primarily in the south.)
I was a Nokia kind of guy, specifically the 9x series, like the 9000, 9110, e90 etc. (Owned each one at least once.) Then I switched to an old QTec (QTek?) phone a few years ago, and hated it. Went back to Nokia and just last year jumped onboard the horrible iPhone bandwagon. (It's a great phone, just, hate being tied down...)
I bought a used HTC Touch HD last week seeing how I've been eying the HD2 for a couple now. But I'm not sure how I'll like Windows on my phone again. So I'm taking it slow.
But needless to say, I'm quite happy with the HD1. It's got a great screen, it's pretty fast and I enjoy the many, many customization options.
My iPhone is being used as an MP3 player/gaming console for my little one.
I'm thinking about testing out some custom roms for the HD. Anyone got any suggestions? Maybe a rom with the possibility to change your local weather to a non HTC chosen location? (I tried doing this on my own via the XML file, but can't. I'm just not that leet lol.)
Anyways, I've said too much. Thanks for having me.

I love the people at XDA!
Thanks all for the welcome.
I've been looking at the HD roms, going to read up a little about the flashing technique first. Don't want to brick anything.
Welcome and enjoy XDA! Happy Flashing!
Well first off, Welcome to XDA.
As a starter I'd advise you to read the wiki's and stickies for your device.
If unsure about anything feel free post a query in the Q&A forum (generally for each device a Q&A thread has been created for queries) or to contact a moderator for assistance

Hi I'm looking to buy or change my phone to an TRUE android OS. And i don't wanna buy just a MARKETING or commercial bull**** LIKE APPLE,SAMSUNG etc. Because when i say TRUE ANDROID i expect to heave FULL control about every single byte of my phone.
Since 1999 From when it started with smartphone "ERA" i had this phones: Nokia 5110, 3310 ,3410, then i switch to an MOTO V3 Then i moved back to Symbian with N70 , E55 and later to an E72. In 2010 I bought from a friend an Blackberry Curve8900 and then i buy a brand new Bold 9780. In 2014 i bought an SH from ebay S4mini and that phone had introduce me to Android OS. From the first month of use i rooted the phone installed Cyanogenmod etc. I was so fascinated about all you can do with an Android OS. Then i bought S5mini, then an S5LTE+ (this phone has a Beast of graphic card in my opinion).
Currently I'm a user of an Samsung s6 (Rooted with CF-Root) i buy it brand new in 2015 and to be honest i admit, i buy it just because of Commercial bull**** stories...
I'm an windows user since i was a Kid, i started on windows 95, i know all of windows ****'s i can install, configure them. I can make windows programs etc. but honestly when i moved to java in my Collage was i pain i can't do a **** in java...I'm an Noob there ...
So what's the BEST Android phone for a user like me? I hate Apple **** and i start to feel a Noob with my samsung...(thanks for your patience and in some ways sorry for my not so good English ). I wait some answers and more questions if you have!
Hi,
There's a dedicated thread for such questions here, https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620179
Lots of opinions there, so I'll close this thread. :good:
Can leave out all the bad language too next time, it's unnecessary.
Cheers,

Hey all, I'm Nirave. I've been a member of the forums since the late 2000s during my Windows Mobile days. I still remember how many times XDA helped me fix my Xperia X1 and the early days of my foray into Android.
Since 2009, I've been writing about technology. I used to run a UK site, and prior to joining the leadership team at XDA almost a year ago, I worked for Mobile Nations, Future, and Android Authority. I help direct all the content that's published across our family of websites, as well as the boring wider company stuff!
I've used pretty much every flagship launched over the last 8 years and always carry at least two phones. One is an iPhone, one is an Android phone. Oh, and I love foldables – my arsenal includes the Z Fold 2, Mate Xs, and ThinkPad X1 Fold!
Glad to meet you Nirave! I also had some Window Mobile device's which were a blast from the past!

Other things to know about Nirave: he doesn't sleep, he is a great cook (if you like a killer curry), and he likes to buy more phones than he actually needs or will ever use (ahem, I think he learned that from me...).
I know many other secrets about Nirave that I'll undoubtedly reveal over time. xD
i once was knew good cook ..
it was fun .. xD
Hello everyone, I'm New here
I used to read a lot here when I was 17- 18 but I think I switched to iOs during the 2019s and I never really had my phone in the center of my occupation so I bought some MacBook & iPhone and I started to learn code. (mostly js)
I would be really happy to help users here, if I can, and discuss my new device. 2020s seems to be creditable as **** tbh, the xda lost kid became some kind of creative dev who's going back to the r00t
Thank you for everything I have read here over the last few years!
