i was in confusion to buy note 9 or oneplus 6t , when hold n9 in hand it feels heavy , i just want to know the experience of n9 users that are you able to hold and use it for long time ?
You get used to the size and feel of the phone where others will feel super light. It's like if you drove a sedan all your life then you get a truck it will feel huge. But eventually you adapt to the change.

Thanks for the answer, you encouraged me to buy note 9 . i see you have 6t also which one you like most ?
I took my S5 and N9 in each hand, closed my eyes, and started "feeling" the differences. Swapped them between hands and continued. I have to say, if I would not see them, or feel the textures or sides (or checked their length or weight balance differences), I would not be able to tell quickly which one is which. In my hands, Note 9 feels no bulkier than S5.
I read news with N9 during local train trips (about 15 minutes), which are about the longest continuous activities I do with phones (except long calls, which are rare for me). I haven't noticed any bulkiness or hand getting tired in that (relatively) short amount of time.
When it comes to pockets, N9's significantly longer length does matter. S5 can fit fine in my jeans front pocket (though it does create a hole on one spot over time), N9 does not fit in the same orientation/properly. So, N9 is bulkier in that sense. Though I wouldn't put N9 in front pocket even if it fit, as those pockets seems to collect "hard" dust over time (or something), leading to surface wear on the corners of the phone.
It's a bit heavy, but in a good way. It's more tall than bulky.
At times I have a bit of trouble reaching things, but not unacceptably. I am 5'8" and my hand from wrist to tip of middle finger is approximately 7.5"
The phone is a little heavy feeling when not in a case and very "slippery". I've got an "Otterbox like" hybrid case and love it and I've got medium hands......
Having gone two and a half days on a 90% charge I'll live with it. Not to mention 512+256 and really good mountain cell signal

My previous device was an LG V20 so the Note 9 does not feel too heavy to me at all. It has a nice quality feel to it and feels "just right" in my hand.
Not bulky. It's relatively thin/narrow, and it feels very premium. It's a little bit tall, slippery and on the heavy side though.
That's something I had to adjust to when I switched from a Pixel 2 XL (at first, my little finger would hurt after using the phone for a prolonged period of time. The Pixel 2 XL is 26 grams lighter and the paint finish helps to have a better grip).
Even if the Note 9 looks great, my advice would be to get a good case. It feels like (and it is) a luxury phone. Better protect it than be sorry later

It's a lot more comfortable than the s7e that I got and used for two years (3m for the note 9) - even one hand. I had even hand pain sometimes from the s7e after extensive use, something I never got on my note 9. Both naked, never used a case/screen protector on both.
No problem. I actually have the 1+6
I had the 1+6t but didn't like the in display fingerprint scanner. The fact that you have to turn on the screen for the scanner to work seems odd when I'd rather have on on the back of the phone which is more reliable. But i equally enjoy my 1+6 because it's such a smooth phone, lightweight, great looks, and camera is pretty good on it. Battery is about 1hr SOT less than the Note 9.

Maybe some time in the gym is in order for you all. ?
It IS heavier than say an S9+, but I don't consider it heavy. I'm on my phone all day, and I never even think about the weight of it. Like others said, it's slippery without a case and pretty tall, so it can make one-handed operation awkward. More than anything, this trend of thin phones and no side bezel makes using it without a case difficult. There's nothing to really hold on to and it's slick, so it's easy to drop.
That's why I put it in a cheap clear TPU case and use it that way. Protects against scratches and light drops, but adds little to no bulk.
I had been using OP6 prior to this, still have it. First day I felt this was heavier and difficult / awkward to handle (considering my last note was note 4), was just a matter of a day and I'm pretty comfortable with it. Used it with the cover that came in the box first couple days, then changed too neo hybrid (makes it more bulky) but in a good way (feels sturdy).
Loving the great battery life on the Note 9 compared to OP6. Used to get between 4 to 6 hours of screen time on OP6. With Note 9, I average around 1 hr per 10 percent of battery (in case the standby times aren't too long) otherwise you can expect 10 to 20 percent going towards a day of standby + 8 hours of screen on. Do note, I'm a heavy user with dozen apps running thr background, Slack, Asana, Aqua mail (for emails), Whatsapp & Facebook.
It's a great phone overall, other than the fact it was difficult getting used to N9 being slightly less responsive than the OP6 (with Android Pie).
So far, so good!
I don't think it is that bulky. I came from Essential phone and weight wise it is just a little heavier, but not by much. it is of course much much longer.
I still carry it in my front pocket.
Not as big as you expect it to be, far more manageable than say an iPhone X's max for example.
I'll second the lack of responsiveness Vs the OP6. The Note feels more premium but the OP just flies in the comparison.

Note 9 feels tall, narrow, top heavy, dense and slippery. The 6T feels wider, lighter, also slippery.
One thing for sure, my 6T does *everything* faster but Note 9 just does things better. Higher resolution, bigger battery, wireless charging , headphone jack, stylus, and a few others.
To me, Note 9 is the better phone without considering price. Performance for the price, much better value from OnePlus and I think that's their goal.
With a heavy heart, I finally sold the OP6 so I could dedicate myself to Note 9. First few hours post the transaction were tough (I get emotionally attached to mg phones lol), all good now and Note 9 from here on all the way.
I switched to the note 9 from the Huawei Mate 20 X. If anything is bulky that Mate 20 variant is the most bulky. Note 9 now seems perfect sized.
I think it's way too heavy when compared too all previous Note phones. It is the heaviest. That's the reason why I skipped and got a Pixel 3 XL.

I actually did the opposite yesterday, I gave back the Note 9 to someone else to test in my team and will keep the 6T for awhile. The fact that Android Auto doesn't work in my car with the Note 9 is a rather big problem (I bought a car with android auto specifically because I love using it). The second reason is the infinity display. Looks absolutely amazing, but I keep accidentally clicking stuff all the time. I seem to do better with a flat display and a slightly smaller/lighter phone.

I was in 2 minds until someone bid on the Oneplus - I was so heavy hearted selling the phone that I could have flipped anytime during the transaction haha. Since the decision had valid pros and cons each side, I left it to fate for whichever to fetch my target price. Even though I experienced a little more than usual BT connectivity issues initially with N9 & my car, it's all settled now. Kinda starting to enjoy the phone now, knowing this is the only option lol. Battery life + sound + better vibration + xposed (something still good about O) + good screen seem to reasons enough to not be super whinny. Gluck with your decision!
I came across more than a couple of videos where durability of Note 10 Pro and Pro Max is very poor, it failed in many tests. More importantly miserable in bend test. I am really in dilemma for how long the device can survice.
Any thoughts?

It's not "durability" test, it is more properly called "can-it-withstand-abuse" test.
And remember, it's a midranger phone, Xiaomi cut some corners. Expect more durable phone? Buy a better one. Case close. Always treat your phone carefully, buy a case, get a phone insurance if there any, etc.

You were fooled by the bend test by that youtuber. The bend test was done after the fall test. Once the phone has cracks it is easier to break. Don't trust that channel unless they redo all their tests in only one format and bend test first before fall test. Even jerry rig doesnt even do fall test.

Thanks for letting your opinion know. Note that even I watch those videos and it doesn't mean we do such things with our devices; no one if it's hard-earned money. It only gives idea as how careful you should be with the device.
These kind of tests can be useful and a win-win situation for us the consumers, not the manufacturers.
The bend test can be useful. I'm sure people or their friends might accidently sit on their phone when you leave it on the couch/car seat and probably roll on it when you fall asleep while using it on the bed.
This phone comes with really good specs for the price, so just be mindful of it's fragility if you decide to purchase and use it. And not everyone is fond of bulky cases to protect the phone.
Btw, to those who said bend test should be done first on the Gupta vid, here's another vid with bend test first. It shows the plastic frame is much weaker than other plastic frame phones.
Ya plastic frame with glass is prone to bends (especially in Xiaomi phones). But other glass phones from manufacturers like Realme are more "bend test - durable". Also fully plastic made phones are much much durable.

Why does anyone want to bend-test a phone is beyond me. Most of these "bend-testers" do it to rake up more views for themselves in YouTube or other social media and make more money. I mean, just look at that bend test thumbnail picture in the youtube link above. It's a clickbait trap even laymen would want to click on.
As a consumer, why do you want to bend and abuse your phone, that you paid money for? In this world, you can break anything, if you want. Even metal or rocks. That's right - you DON'T want to break anything, especially something that you paid for.
Don't put in your back pocket and sit. Or remove the phone from the back pocket before sitting, if you have the habit of slotting your phone there.
Give respect for what you have bought. Get a good thin but durable case protection. Get a good screen protector. These will greatly help the resell value too.
So treat all of your phones (even humble and cheaper ones) gently and nice. They will last longer and be with you longer.
you're afraid of your phone breaking during bend as if you're BENDING your phone daily

There is another one who did a fall test and the phone survived some risky falls ... Firstly this is Not to spread negativity or anything else.
Experiences do vary from persone to person and device to device...I regularly watch durability test videos, more so if I want to decide on buying a device...It 's just to get an idea as to how well or bad the device can survive in day-to-day scenarios or during any unfortunate situations like falls. Not all videos are fake or clickbaits I can say.
At the end, if something is exiciting like specs, features, price, some people would overlook fragility or don't care about durability.
Thanks & Cheers!

Hey Folks,
I have noticed 2 small chips in the ceramic back panel of my Mi 11 Ultra on the 5th day of delivery. It's so small(almost needle tip size), it's not visible under normal daylights. Need to check in room light and by slightly moving the phone. Is anyone else also noticing such chips ? I feel these are factory defects mostly since the chipped parts are also equally shining/reflective.
I have had Mi mix in the past for more than 1.5 years. Never noticed any such chip on Mix. I never use any protection film or case since I guess ceramic doesn't scratch with daily objects and my phones don't fall very often(touch wood).
No point in adding a photo of the chip since I am not even able to capture it on camera, its so small.
Just Clean the back side and put a skin

Anyone noticing such chips is my question. I am checking with the service center for replacement anyways. Just want to understand if this is a one-off unit or it's a general problem.
Its General issue to all Ceramic and Glass Panels.
Ceramic in general should be harder than glass

Depends, I don't prefer to make my device bulky when I hardly drop it. Had 1st gen Mi Mix for 2 years without skin or case, no drop, no scratch. Mate 20X for about 3 years, I use skin on the rear since it's glass(very scratch-prone), maybe a total of 2 drops of 2 feet height, and it survived both

Yes, that's what I am concerned about. I am not sure if the dents are done by me or factory-made. Ceramic phone I was planning to keep without any skin since I have already kept Mi Mix for 2 years without any rear-skin.
Mi Mix Ceramic was rated 8 on Mohs by JerryRigsEverything in its scratch test. I found a video of Mi 11 Ultra scratch test where the guy rates it 7 on Mohs.

It may not be you who drops the slippery fish, one fouled hand off is all it takes. Maybe it will happen to fall four feet onto concrete. Actually a true story, the brand new phone belonged to my former scumbag boss. It was a tragedy
I have a 10+ that's heavy and the only thing it wuves to do more than corner hit is face plant. Without a case it just wouldn't be it's spotless self.
High G impact ie 3-4 feet onto tile, concrete etc generates enough high G loading to break a chipset's internal bonds amoung other things.
A good case spreads out the impact G spike load and makes it survivable. It also makes it easier to hol, to grasp and helps prevent accidental screen touches especially with curved displays so it's more usable.
These are not ruggedized phones without a case.
Do as you will...

Glass and ceramic are chemically similar but structurally different. Ceramic tends to be slightly harder, but sand will scratch it. Most metals will not.
You can actually use the edge of a car window the sharpen a knife. A ceramic cup also works.
It's possible you did it, it only takes a grain of sand. At least it's not the display. Consider a wet apply plastic screen protector. My display would have been scratched by now without one.
A good case has slighty raised edge guards that prevent direct contact on flat surfaces.
Fun fact, you can polish out very fine scratches in glass with a dry palm or finger tip.
Your skin is slightly abrasive to glass.
Works on coated optics like as well.
I don't know what everyone else's experience is with quality control but here's mine:
The first X5 Pro I had, I had to return for a replacement because I discovered in low light (dark room) there was a stuck pixel on the screen which was permanently lit green. This isn't acceptable on £1000+ device.
Now, my replacement device feels different in the hand. People will probably think I have OCD, but it looks like the ceramic back is actually somehow a fraction of a millimetre smaller than it should be, therefore the aliminium edges of the device do not blend seamlessly into the ceramic back cover and give that smooth, pebble-like feel. It now feels like I have a sharp edge resting against my palm or fingers when I hold the device.
Most people would probably not notice this but I do.
My wife has the X5 Pro in Black and doesn't have this issue.
I read somewhere about the ceramic milling process means that every since piece of ceramic is unique, but obviously within a certain tolerance, and the backs are matched up with the camera lenses during the production process.
I've attached a picture to try and convey what I am talking about. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the back of my first device, which felt perfect in the hand.
It looks like there is around 0.5mm gap between the back and the edge of the device.
Would you return your device due to this, especially when you know what it should be like?
Morning chap,
Re the green pixel, I haven't had any and agree is unacceptable.
Re the back. I have a slight edge too but assumed that's how they all were. Doesn't bother me as I have a case around it. You may want to return it if it really is annoying you and you are 100pc sure that the first handset was seamless...(are you sure? Mind tricks?)...but no guarantee a replacement will be any different.
Interested to see how you get on.

Haha, yeah, my first thought was mind tricks, but my wife has the black one and it defo doesn't dig into your hand in the same way. Looking at them side by side, the back on her black X5 pro blends seamlessly into the frame whereas mine has an obvious lip.
Yes you are right about a replacement being no guarantee of being better. This is the first phone in 10+ years that I am using without a case because it feels so natural to hold, but when it digs into your hand and you can feel the ridge, it definitely isn't pleasant to hold.
Anyway, phoned the carrier and after a lengthy call with me trying to explain the issue to one of their first line tech support, it's getting replaced by courier tomorrow.
If this was an iPhone there would be threads all over twitter with people going bananas so I don't see how I should need to settle for second best when this phone costs more than most iPhone models bar the 13 pro max!
This is a good review with hi-res images of the sides of the phone, and on which you can see no visible lip (although harder to see on the black model).

I am debating buying a refurb 5a off amazon, I can get it right now for about $125, vs $299 for the 6a. I'm planning to put LineageOS on it, and was wondering if it is worth it to get the 6a new vs the 5a refurb. For the price, I am seriously leaning towards the 5a, but worry about the battery life on a refurb. My current phone (motorola G power 2021) has great battery life still after 2 years, but is stuck on android 11, and there aren't any real options for aftermarket OS for it, so that is why I am considering the Pixel models. Which would you do?
The 5a still has reports of black screen of death. I haven't experienced that with mine, however, after two years the battery life is down to ~80%. 6a is reportedly a solid performance bump over the 5a.
I think the 6a will offer a longer service life, better performance, and has the "new" pixel design. The only thing I don't like is the front finger print scanner of the 6a.

The downside of the 6a is a glass back which means a case is required. I'd like to shoot the engineer who thought a glass back was a good idea. Plastic is so much better, I hate the bulk of a case on my phones.
True about the glass back. I use a case on my 5a as I find it too slippery to handle without, and a bit too thin.

I ran mine without a case most of my 2 years since the "official" case at launch flared out on the power and volume rockers almost immediately. I agree that it is very slippery and would even fall out of my shorts pockets just sitting in my car at times. I have now upgraded to a 7a and been happy with the case on it, but we'll see if it has the same flaring problem of the last official one I got (this time it was at least thrown in without an extra charge on 7a launch).
I really enjoyed my 2 years of 5a daily driver life, case drama aside. Battery life was insane for someone that doesn't have to be on their phone 24/7. There were multiple times I did not feel the want or need to put the phone on the charger because I still had 1d+ remaining when I'd finish my day. If you have a phone with a higher refresh you may notice stuttering at first when readjusting since 60Hz is the only option on the 5a though I think that's what made the battery so ridiculously long lasting. It had a headphone jack too, which I appreciated for when Bluetooth devices ran out of juice.

RMA = Return Merchandise Authorization. Its the process of returning a defective device for a new one. Could just simply be called return and exchange.
And yes, already had the screen issue with this device. RMA'd it with Google store, they replaced the screen, and a year later now the motherboard issue happened. Signs of the motherboard issue are mainly the phone will just randomly crap out when doing a normal task and won't turn on again.

The downside of the 6a is a glass back which means a case is required. I'd like to shoot the engineer who thought a glass back was a good idea. Plastic is so much better, I hate the bulk of a case on my phones.
