Hello to all...
Just wan't to solve some issue with USB dab+ signal.
I bought Dab+ usb dongle (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32861687291.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.21ef18023f5v55) and now is connected to my multimedia device (ALPS FF5000 / 8227L chipset) in car (Peugeot 308 mk1 2011y). Installed an app called DAB Z for running DAB+ radio.
Supposedly, the signal is stronger and good when used without lights on the car, but when you turn on the lights, the signal simply disappears or is zero.
I noticed this when I started the car radio without the engine running. When I turn on the car and the lights (both the car radio and its lights come on - which means it draws energy from the battery and may take extra power to power the usb ports where the usb dongle is) the signal is simply lost. How do I solve this, when I turn on the lights so the signal doesn't go away, does anyone know?
Thanks to everyone in advance for your help!
Best regards!
Those DAB+ antennas are garbage. Buy proper antenna, but only antenna, and keep this usb dongle. Those glass mounted antennas only works in really great conditions.

Yes I noticed , I bought another one better signal is stronger, but I noticed also that problem was in led lights installed in car. They cause interference of antenna if no resistors installed with led bulbs. I removed them and put origin al H7 bulbs and now signal is great. But I'm in to solve that problem with lights and antennas. Have you come across this problem ?
Hm. I don't remember anymore. I also think I had some problems when I turned on ignition in my car. But I never researched, if the issue was led lights or anything else. I just bought better antena, that I mounted on the roof, and since then, I don't have any problems with signal anymore. I can listen to DAB+ radio in most remote areas possible. I also noticed that if I put this better antenna inside the car, signal drops instantly. So I have to put it on the roof.

I have bought 3 in 1 antenna amplifier . Dab+ and Fm. It strenghten signal significally. I resolved this problem but still, problem remains with led lights as they don't have any resistors and cause interference with antenna.

I have poked around and I know that the Bluetooth range seems extremely limited (perhaps 1ft) once BT is enabled in CyanogenMod. Has a root-cause for this short range been determined? For example, I'd happily solder a wire onto the motherboard if that's a known solution for the poor range.
I seem to recall that Bluetooth can vary the transmitter's power output, to preserver battery life. Perhaps the driver has a setting to "max" the transmission strength.
PS: I have to say, I'd never have kept my NookColor (that is, back to Best Buy) without these excellent kernel options. Everyone's work is much appreciated. Thanks!
well my experience has been (with both BT gps and headset) more than 1 feet - in the case of my headset - up to 4 feet before it cuts out. with the gps 2 feet
now the one issue i have is if i disconnect a peripheral, it is difficult to reconnect the peripheral often have to reboot the nook to reconnect with the peripheral

It's not been figured out, but I read in a breakdown thread that the chip was hooked up correctly and it wasn't a hardware problem.
From what I know, it's because the Wifi and bluetooth are on the same chip and share a single antenna. Most of the time, they have two antennas (this is not first hand info, I read this somewhere over on the CM7 forums)
As for bluetooth range, it sure seems its dependent on the item. For example, some keyboards have been REPORTED to work 10+ feet away, while most headsets seem to range in the 2-3 foot range.
Headset question
I have a question about headphones. I can get mine paired but not connected. They show up correct in the listed devices but i cannot get them to work with pandora. Music streams from the speaker. Any hints or suggestions on how to rectify.
Thanks to all on this forum.

I have cyfi, DR-BT21G, Motorola Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard, and Motorola S305 paired.
All but the keyboard are listed as headphones. the cyfi is a wireless sports speaker. The cyfi comes with an attachment that allows it to securely attached to your bike. I got it from woot. The item was originally $150 got on close out from woot for $40.
The keyboard I tried at horizon and have it on order from walmart. I am using a white 3 3/4" plate/photo holder from JoAnn's fabric as my stand. I don't remember the keyboad's range will edit when it comes in.
The cyfi, sony DR-BT21G, and Motorola 305 range is 13" or less with good results found when about 2" or less from the nook color. Thus the only useable devices are the cyfi and keyboard.
Using the cyfi with flash video from cm7 flash 10.2, two interesting things happen. First with bluetooth from the cyfi the flash video plays at full hardware speeds. Second if we have a slower connection the download/buffering indicator occurs more frequently when using the bluetooth cyfi for audio. Turn bluetooth off the flash video loads/buffers normally. Reconnect the bluetooth and it load/buffers again.

That is interesting indeed. Maybe the wifi has something to do with my keyboard being disconnected constantly...
My HTC one started randomly disconnecting from my car kit, I put it down to the car kit being old but then I bought a sony ericsson MW600 and I find if I put my phone on the opposite side of my body, (ie in my pocket) the connection drops. Turns out the bluetooth cant connect when my body is in the way. Now seeing as my body isnt made of lead, im assuming the phones got a fault.
Has anyone else had this issue. Is there any fix out there or am I looking at a service job?
edit : never mind, found a thread elsewhere that recommended switching off wifi.... and what do you know... it works.

I have never had an issue with the BT. Wifi should not affect BT at all. My handset starts to connect to my wifes car when she comes around the corning towards our house. This is about 35 feet through a wall and I have left my phone on the couch and walked out to my driveway shutting the door behind me on a BT headset. This phone has the best BT range I have ever used and I never turn Wifi off.
WiFi and BT don't play nice together. Both 2.4ghz. Not new by any means, have had the same issue on Inspire 4g, One XL and One. Having both in use simultaneously reduces range.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Alternatively, use WiFi only on the 5ghz band. No BT interference
Hi all,
Have my android head unit installed in my car and regardless of what i try, like different antennas, power amplifiers, etc, i cannot get the AF to work. I can be driving and completely lose the current radio reception unless i manually tune the radio. Enabling RDS does nothing except show the station name.
It's really annoying as my standard facrory unit worked no problem. Can anyone help?
Thanks
What kind of car is it? A lot of newer cars have two antenna wires. If the installer didn't get an adapter to connect both you will get very poor reception.

Thanks for reply. It's a hyundai i40. As far as i can make out there only the one antenna cable connected to the unit and there is the DAB cable just left to one side
Had a chat with an installer today and he told me that hyundai are one of the hardest to get right as the radio, amp, antenna all work as a system and as soon as one is removed the ability for all to work right is lost.
Don't know if that's just waffle or if he really knows, but thats what he told me anyway
I have just recently bought an android car unit.
The only issue is I just cannot get the radio to work very well. The device picks up radio stations on FM frequencies I know, but with a lot of noise. However, as soon as I connect it to my car's sharkfin antenna the reception actually gets much much worse. Has anyone had a similar issue? Did an amplified for the antenna fix it?
The car is a 2010 Vauxhall (same as a Buick or Opel) Insignia.
Thanks.
I was under the impression that shark fin antennas are for gps/cellular only, and that cars with shark fin antennas have their fm/am antennas built into the rear window of the car. I'm not sure though, just guessing
Your description (if the antenna worked fine with the OEM unit) sound like if your car has a built-in amplifier for the antenna which you forgot to hook up to the android unit to toggle the power on? In my Subaru the exact same thing happens if the antenna amplifier trigger is not connected.

You can get all sorts of OEM and aftermarket shark fin antennas, from dummies to ones that do AM/FM, GPS, GSM, DAB and TV and various combos of those, I ve got an AM/FM/DAB one for instance.

Exactly, but if the shark fin is after market it will likely have its own power input different to the cars OEM antenna power input, therefore using a power injector as you would for OEM antenna boosters wont work. Is your shark fin OEM or aftermarket @AnonymousPenguin
Recently (no change in hardware or software) navigation in AA starts losing GPS signal, mostly at the beginning of te ride, sometimes also during driving. I was not able to find any trigger of this behavior, also no solution, sometimes finds GPS signal again.
My setup is Amigo or Gmap, postmarkt Headunit, Samsung S22+, wireless connection.
When I use GPS without AA I never have this issue.
Anybody else with similar experience and/or a solution to this problem?
Maybe a silly questions, but do you have your phone somewhere it can get a good GPS signal?
Some cars/windshields are notorious for blocking GPS signals depending on the position of the sensor.
I noticed also some GPS drop outs during bad weather (epecially when it is cloudy, rainy or foggy).

It could be, however, phone is lying on the very same spot (saddle between the front seats, on a wireless charger) as the years before.
That's why I suspect the culprit lies somewhere else than GPS signal strenght..

Some navigation apps, within AA, should and will use the car's GPS, if present: Google Maps does I think, so too does Sygic, that I use; Waze doesn't though, I think. I'm using wireless AA on an Android Head unit, through Headunit Reloaded/Motorola MA1 and that app has an option too, to specify the car's GPS. The phone's GPS will most likely be weaker, especially behind certain kinds of windscreens, whereas a properly implemented car GPS will be connected to the external shark fin antenna, giving a much more robust signal.
I've experienced the same issues, and I noticed that on the phone, the geolocation icon starts blinking too fast. I opened Maps on the phone, and the icon stopped blinking, and AA maps showed the correct GPS location.
So, I think it's AA-related, not an antenna issue.

I switched the geolocation permission to "always" for Maps app on the phone.
The issue seems to be disappeared.
This works! Thanks!!
