Hi, just yesterday i bought a realme gt2 global version. I have been testing all the functions and it works perfectly, but in particular the quality of its microphone is horrible. I do not know if it is only my unit or if it happens in all units. Does anyone know something? Thanks
Oh man, hoping it is just yours - when I receive mine I will be able to confirm but I will likely only receive it end of the month / early April.
I noticed the same on some youtube video camera samples, in videos it sounds muffled. Do you mean call quality is bad too?
Same here. Compared with GT Neo 2 this GT2 mic is worse!

I think im between a Realme GT neo 2 (It has a good mic, but bad cameras....) or a Oneplus 9 Pro on 550€ (second hand but almost like new)... Its a shame, i was really happy with my GT2, but im going to hate not being able to send a WhatsApp audio with good quality...

In the tests that I have tried the Neo2 was better, but a little better. Taking into account the section of the cameras (the main one of the Neo2 is much worse than the imx766) and that it is from last year and will stop receiving updates a year before,… For my part, I would wait for the Neo3 or the Poco F4 to assess changing it. It is true that the price of the GT2 is a bit high compared to the Neo2, but if you have bought it on sale I think it is a good purchase, since the camera alone is worth about ~120$.
I also think that it is very valid for sending audio and talking on the phone, it may not be the best microphone but it defends itself. Maybe it can be fixed in an update (who knows?).
Sigh, this is really frustrating. I wonder if the Pro has the same issue?
So if one is on a phone, not on loudspeaker is it an issue or only if on loudspeaker?
WhatsApp voice notes not great quality either, not ideal. Wonder if an update would fix it although I'm assuming not.
Is there anyway to submit feedback to Realme? I'm hoping this is software, seems like such a dumb mistake or stupid place to cut corners
youtube.com/watch?v=4bejshojDpE
In this test video you can hear that the mic is very tinny... But it doesn't seem all too bad.

Yes, couldn't agree more...
I just received my device and the microphone doesn't sound bad!
I was prepared to send it back because of the mic but that isn't the case.
I have the global version and a quick comparison against my OP 5T its much worse. Theres background noise and it sounds muffled on the GT2 whereas my old phone sounds very clear compared to it.
This with the notification issue a few other people are having I may have to send it back
I just tested the mic and yeah it's not as good as my previous phone but it's not that bad.
Judging by what I've heard the problem is in the audio bit rate, realme for some reason keeps lauching phones with 96kbps instead of the minimum 192 or even 320kb.
Let's see if with the next updates they fix it. The march update is late by the way. Still on february security patch.
Hi! New owner of the GT2, having the same issue. I've reporter it here: https://c.realme.com/in/post-details/1511645176815226880 , don't know if is the right place, but let's hope... Also, please report, maybe it will be fixed.
I did something to test if it's a hardware problem or software related. You can check different audio types of recording using Open Camera from Google Play. In Open Camera there is an option to change the audio by going to Settings, Video settings..., Audio source, and chose which sounds better to you. So, lets hope for an update from realme or for a way to root and manualy fix this.
As I've said before my suspicions are correct, it's the software.
I recorded videos in different audio sources and they all sound **** but in Unprocessed mode it sounds clean as it can be, the only problem is the volume, it's very quiet and there's white noise.
They have to tweak the noise supression algorithm. It sounds like my headset microphone without post processing (noise supression, echo cancelation) my voice sounds correct but there's white noise and keyboard/mouse are audible.
With it enabled, I sound more "artificial" but the background noises are supressed.
And of course increase the bit rate, it's at 93kb. Lol
Such a pitty phones have soo many bugs and issues now a days.
I ended up getting a refund on my GT2as the store could not get the global version and then purchased a OnePlus 9RT. Seems I may have dodged a bullet and skipped owning a buggy phone.
My GFs Redmi Note 10 Pro also had issues with the mic and proximity sensor. Great phone otherwise, but makes it frustrating for her to use.
Hopefully Realme fix the issue.
Was looking forward to buy this. First, the screen quality issue. Next, this mic issue. As tech experts say, 'Dont buy a phone with issues, hoping about future updates'. Might have to drop this phone, and buy GT Neo 3.

Hey there!
I have recently purchased a new Z3C and think it is indeed a really great phone. However, one thing that really bugs me is a constant and very noticable static noise during calls and only perceivable when using the earpice, not e.g. headphones. You can hear it all the time, especially when pausing the conversation.
Thisis the second device I have that happen, so I would really be interested if everyone else's sound via earphone is clear or if a bit of static is normal. Am I being paranoid?
I switched off all the options for "optimization" in the call settings, btw.
Cheers

Hi,
I have the same problem and it's driving me crazy. First i thought i got a phone with failure so i send it to the repair service but they were convincing me that it's normal. I couldn't belive such a thing can be normal so i insisted on a phone replacement. After writing mails directly to Sony, replacement was approved but guess what - replacement phone had the same issue. I also checked couple of phones in shops and you could hear static noice in earspeaker on all of them. However some people on forums say they can't hear anything so i'm still not sure if this problem exists only in some series. I googled much on this subject and found that Sony had many issues with audio/speaker/volume in previous Z models but it seems it was solved with firmwares. However i believe this is a hardware problem of earspeaker they use. I even found u can order a new one on ebay. All in all, as you said phone is great but this thing is annoying as hell. I tried many other brands to see if they have any sound noise and i can't hear anything. Sad story
Regards,
Nino

Quick reaction to other ppl. Ppl are deaf!
Now not so hot blooded . Happened to me many times. I have (thank God) still good hearing.
Most of the ppl I know do not care, get used or even do no hear this sound, OR are not able to distinguish it.
So even if they tell you, they do not hear it, till you can use their phone and test it next to your, that means nothing....
(This is not my first phone where I can hear something that 99 percent ppl cant hear, even on mine... luckily there is few that can so I know I am not going crazy )
Now the second point is to prove it and if it really is not just how the phone should sound.
Anyways what I tried and made me nervous was the service tests in the Service Menu *#*#7378423#*#*
All of these Primary Mic , Secondary Mic and Earphone tests sound horrible .
Serious crackling, buzzing on the Mics and Earphone, like I am used to from the Phone Call , static noise...
Funny thing however, ppl say they can hear me good and the video records also with good quality. So I do not understand how both of the mics sound so incredibly bad in the test. Well they both go through the same Earphone where I have the static noise, so the earphone could really be faulty, but I never hear the crackling, buzzing cut ofs in the call...
Update: Seems to be normal
Just an update:
I have checked another two devices, different mobile providers as well, and all of them had the same static when using the earphone. No such static when using a headset, though. It seems to be normal. I have checked my old (Xperia P) and there's static as well, although less noticeable due to a weaker/more quiet earpiece.
I also have decided to just go with it, since you can understand everything loud and clear and every other aspect of the Z3C is just that good.
Thanks for reporting everybody. I, too, thought I was going a bit crazy! Enjoy your devices everybody :good::good::good:

I am nowhere nearly silent enough to check it, but will do when I come home this afternoon. Will report back ASAP!
I'd also like to hear your results. I was about to get myself one of these phones today as they are a good price at the moment. But having a constant noise in the background on calls would bug the heck out of me! I don't want to have to use a headset, hate em. I can deal with some problems as ANY phone you buy these days has some problem, there is no perfect phone out there. I'm currently browsing the web and XDA for problems associated with the Z3 Compact, but so far this is a biggy for me, that and maybe the purple/pink hue on the camera in some pictures.
How loud are these noises in comparison to the volume of the person on the other end of a call?

In my case, I can hear the person clearly, still with some hissing. Only in silent passages it becomes really "visible".
Interesting enough I just tried something . I put the headset in a different way on my ear....
I think what I am getting is the effect of when you put your hand on your ear, seashell stuff noise ...
There is a definite hissing, static noise but becomes less apparent depending on the placement of the headset without loosing the quality of the voice, or loudness.

I do not think I will be ever satisfied with any phone I had.... I found issues on all of them...
Till now no. I tried the sound recorder from sony, the sound came out ok. Video also seemed ok.
So if there is an issue, is most probably with the Earphone. But as was said in another threads, other phones have this also, to which extent depends on many factors...
To answer. Not yet . I have it only for a week. Will see how much I get used to it.

I also kept the phone but i find this thing very annoying. Few days ago i talked on a phone in a silent office room and it really sucks, u constantly hear sshhhhh.. Static noise is just too loud. I tried other brands like iphone, my old Nokia, samsung and there was absolutly no noise. I even tried Sony Xperia Z1 from friend and it is also noise free. I would buy earspeaker on ebay and replace current one only if i'd knew that will solve the problem.

The static noise does not interfere with the clarity of the received voice. You can hear the caller loud and clear. You will notice the static noise more as the ambient sound around you decreases. I for one have noticed, that I also tend to somehow ignore the static noise a couple of seconds in on a call.

@PAGOT I have tested everything you said and, besides said static noise, I could reproduce the issues you reported with the primary and secondary microphones: a very underwhelming performance of both of the microphones. Cracking, static sound. None of the possible options in the calls settings menu changed anything for the better or worse.
Strangely enough, the sound quality of my calls have been reported to be loud and clear. I also tried Sony's audio recorder, with flawless results Makes no sense.

After the new tests I was being confused, again. But, as both of you already put forth, no phone is perfect and I will stay with the Z3C because of the nice features of the device along its very competetive price. I love to forget about charging my phone regardless of heavy usage all day long. The phone stays. Everybody responding here did a great job sharing their experiences! Good work:good:

I already passed all procedure with repair service couple of months ago, and it was not a very nice experience. The worst thing was that guy in repair service tried to make a fool out of me, like "nothing is wrong with this phone, i don't hear any noise". I mean come on, all people i asked to listen the sound heard noise, and he pretends not to hear anything. However i insisted on repair and then agony begon. After a couple of days they returned me phone with explanation that they made software adjusments and that all is fine now. Yeah sure.. it was the same ofc. I didn't take the phone but insisted on repair again. After a couple of days they said that they replaced earspeaker and that all is fine now. Yeah sure... same thing again. Then they said that they can't do anything more while guys in repair service were looking me like "again this crazy man" and made stupid jokes like "you can leave the phone here if it's not good for you". Total idiots. That really pissed me off and i contacted local Sony support in my country (Croatia, Europe). After exchanging 2 mails with them, explaining what is going on, they agreed to give me replacement phone. Unfortunately new phone had a same issue so i'm now stuck with it. I hope you will not have all this trouble but now you know what can you expect. I also wrote about this at: talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3-Z3-Dual/static-noise-on-xperia-z3-speaker/m-p/924466/highlight/false

Can totally understand that ... was more times in a situation like this ...
A safe bet is to argue with the Service Menu tests. Microphone and Secondary Microphone and Earphone and also Stereo Speaker.
Microphones sound both bad...crackling, buzzing, static
Earphone - static noise.
Stereo Speaker - upper one is on and down one is hissing.
They can't argue with that... no matter how much they try... and its their test ...
No matter how much they want ...
(You do not have to tell them , that ppl can hear you nicely , or that video/audio recordings sound better)
Kinda thinking that this is might be a software issue? Heard theories about artificially adding some tone/noise to the call, so you know you are on call or whatever. So the filters or whatever might be set wrong. Or do we really think they would use a bad quality product?
Btw the guys over at CM or other ROMS do not have a fix for this?

On some forum someone mentioned that it could be software gain/ loudness problem. It sounds like someone turned speaker volume up to 200% so static noise is so loud but in the same time voice/music sound is on normal level. As i said in one of mine previous posts, Sony had problems with audio in some previous Z models too and they solved it with firmware update. Hope they will do something with this too - if it's not a hardware problem. Would be nice to have someone from Sony to comment this.
If you do ever find a solution for this or Sony release a fix please let us know. I'm going to hold out on buying a new phone for the time being and put up with my old Galaxy S2 in the hope something happens between now and then. I'm starting to lean towards a Galaxy S5, but I really like what Z3C has to offer, just not the static...

Right now the support said, they are not getting complaints about this device in regards of noise....
I try a few fixes , disabling the google voice , change a few settings on mixer paths but the call quality and mic pickup is pretty bad. Was wondering if this is a hardware issue because a lot of posts has been up about how bad it is. I love this phone just got it but if this is the main issues that I used my phone =[. Any help or fixes I should check out because i have try many fixes.
I recently put a bug request up on their forums: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/noise-cancelling-mic-too-aggressive.477798/#post-15452631
It seems the mic is a bit aggressive with third party apps. Easy way to tell is to use the stock camera and record a quick audio clip, it should be fine. Then, in another app (Snapchat for me) take a quick video and you'll notice a lot of popping or distortion for any audio that's not close.
is this a hardware or software issue, do you think i should return it or keep it? if its a hardware issue then its not worth it

It appears to be software, however I've read the original OP3 had a similar issue that was never really addressed--at least not officially. I'd say when we start to see some ROM's pop up those devs will have it handled, but I can't say for sure.
To be honest if this issue only gets fixed by ROM developers of custom ROMs I assume the 3t will not get my new phone
I was hoping that this issue got already fixed in 3t's Software but apparently it's not.
And OnePlus seems to not put any afford into this issue
They don't seem to put any attention! "They are aware" Is all i see. No real progress that one "LTE ZIP" will take away wifi calling. Im ordering a new phone in the coming days and might go with the zte axon 7 limited edition.
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
I had the OPO which was great, then the OP3 which in CM14/14.1 there was an echo issue that the other side of the phone call would hear themselves, and now the OP3T has an issue with mic pickup in both regular calls and speakerphone. It feels like the quality is getting shoddy and the price is going up.
But I really don't understand why not more people are complaining about that. I read about that issue here in XDA first (but regarding the 3 and not the 3t). Then I really watched every review of the 3 on YouTube but the only one that was speaking about that problem was a German YouTuber (He is called SwagTab) in his review. No one else seemed to be aware of that problem (or didn't want to talk about it).
And I often read "it's a software problem". But why that problem hasn't been fixed already as it affects one if the essential parts of a smartphone: the microphone?
Don't know what I should think about that laziness or being unwilling to talk or fix that mess.
@bmwbasti When I had the OP3 it was narrowed down to we needed to wait for OnePlus to release the proprietary blobs for Android 7.x, but with OP3T it feels like laziness because they're still trying to please all the pissed off OP3 users and shafting the OP3T users in the process.
I think I haven't read anything about it but could it be that this issue is really fixes in the Nougat ROM that got released a few days ago for the 3? If so I could live with this issue until it's fixes in Nougat. But I think I will get my 3t not until Nougat is released anyway
Today is a sad day guys =[ i just RMA my one plus 3t , going to order the honor 8 they had an amazing sale for like 260$ i'm just going to see if i like the honor 8 , just going to be a temporary phone.. i mean why would such a good phone lack a bad mic =[
Very disappointed! The mic is a one of the most important parts of a phone. Ordered two one plus 3T devices but cancelled as soon as I came across this thread. Don't want to gamble with this.
Tried iPhone 7plus but miss my note 7. Want to go back to android, but can't find anything to substitute my note 7. Probably will go back to note 5.

This seems to not be an issue while make a phone call "regulary" where your mouth is away only an inch of the microphone.
It seems to only happen when the "sound source" is not that near to the microphone as on calls.
I tested it myself with my son today. i sent him voice messages with WhatsApp. He said it's not that kind of clear like with my previous phone (HTC 10) but quality is still ok (while sound is muffled a bit) but it's so silent it's barely hearable when volume is set lower than 3/4. And he owns a HTC One M8 and that phone's speaker get really loud
Then i called him with WhatsApp but this time no messages but rather a voice call.
And now he said it's still not that clear than on my HTC 10 (but way clearer than before) but far louder and really good noticeable.
Topic: Really sad
Now there is a good amount of threads regarding this problem on OnePlus Bug Report section but it seems as if nobody of the staff cares about them...
My op3 is terrible every time I have gone to the service centre they would do a software reset and once changed the mic hardware but always acted as though I'm the only one with this issue. It's fine when I'm on speaker or through a headset but on a the normal phone mic the other end hears as though there's wind blowing
Almost all my callers complain that my voice is really muffled and they can't hear me well. Doesn't seem to matter if I have the phone to my ear, or using headphones. About 1/3 times, callers hear an echo of their own voice back at them, usually only for the first 30 seconds to a minute or so, then it stops. Really weird behavior and no idea if it's the mic or the radio or something else. Happens on all ROMS though. Started an RMA process to see if they can fix it. A chat rep hinted it might be a radio issue.
Phew glad mine is OK!

I also don't have any mic issue.
Hi, just wanted to hear if anyone else has this problem I have with the speakers. Basically they crackle and pop a lot while listening to some audio (think it's related to lower frequency audio). Here's a video of the problem: https://youtu.be/BG5oJNWJR9k
Here's the test video: https://youtu.be/5V-oI-z1NgI
I've spoken with razer support, but I can't really get a good answer out of them if this is a hardware or software issue. I did manage to get a replacement device, but it has the exact same problem. I also wasn't able to reproduce it on the replacement device while it was still on 8.1 - but it started happening again while upgrading to the latest build.
I remember the RP1 having a lot of issues with the speakers as well, and I had to get it replaced like 5 times to get one that didn't have any problems. Maybe it's the same with the RP2? You'd think they would improve their QA, but if that's the case then I'm assuming they haven't.
Thank you

I just bought the phone knowing full well this could be an issue, but I don't have it yet.
Can you try one thing - There should be a Dolby EQ app and by default it should be set to something like Dynamic Bass Boosted. Try turning that off completely and see if the popping/crackling remains?

Thanks for the suggestion, I did try that and it didn't seem to really matter if I had Dolby on or off - the crackling was definitely still there, even if it was slightly better with dolby off.
Unfortunately the customer service wasn't very helpful either, so I decided to return it to the shop I bought it from and got a refund.
I hope you have more luck with yours though! :good:

Well that's bad news. Mine hasn't shipped yet, I may just cancel the order. The Reddit sub for this phone scared the **** out of me with all the posts about issues.

Yeah, these phones have had a whole bunch of issues. If they ever release a RP3, they definitely need to improve their quality control and after sales support with more regular software updates. Like on the RP1 I was without working Bluetooth for months due to a software bug, luckily this was later fixed, but there's a risk bugs may never be fixed since they seem to abandon their phones after a short while.
It's a shame really, because I really liked the RP1, and I was looking forward to the improved screen and cameras of the RP2. But unfortunately I wasn't a big fan of the glass back, and the cellular/wifi reception was in fact much worse when compared to the RP1.
I could live with those things, but the speaker problem really ruined the experience for me.
Is anyone using Galaxy Buds with their P30 pro? I've just switched from the Galaxy S10+ and I've found that when I use the galaxy buds with the P30 pro I'm getting really poor call quality on the receiver's end. Sounds fine for me, but people on the other end say they have trouble hearing me and that I sound like I'm underwater. When I switch back to the S10+ then my calls sound normal again. Anyone else experiencing this issue, or have any suggestions?
I think the issue is the buds itself i read about that issue with other phones as well. There supposed to some updates from Samsung to improve the quality. I have one myself I don't mind the audio for listening it's pretty decent however the call quality is crap a lot of feed back. I don't really care to be honest since i only use it mostly for music. I really like it for the comfort and case size it's nice and small compared to others. Could there be improvements for sure. But you'll probably need to pay a higher price if you want something better overall. But even with the expensive ones that I've seen the casing way to big for me. To be honest i'm eyeing on the Google buds waiting for those one to be available like to see how good they are.

Been using buds with mine for months now, absolutely no issues! I use it mainly for phone calls and never heard anyone complain even outdoors.

That's the strange thing though, they sound fine when I pair them with the S10+, it's only when I pair them with the P30 pro that the call quality sucks, which doesn't really make sense to me. I'll try them out with a couple more devices to see whether it's the buds themselves that don't play well with non-Samsung devices or whether it's the P30 pro that doesn't like them.

I'm just going though the thread myself looks like everyone is complaining a lot about similar issues and other issues.
us.community.samsung.com/t5/Gear-and-Gear-Fit/Galaxy-Buds-terrible-Bluetooth-interference
if you want to google that
I have had same problem on my p30 pro and friends one plus 7 pro. I sold them cuz there is obviously some problem when using them with non sams phone. Thats my conclusion
My unit had heavy distortion in the top speaker when at max volume. Basically the earpiece would have a buzzing sound when playing any music with low frequency content from around 300Hz to 500Hz. This is reminiscent of the buzzing problems seen in the Pixel 3 and iPhone X.
I'm wondering if this is a one off issue.

Make sure your phone is at max volume, and pay attention to see if your top speaker is "buzzing" as you change the frequency.
I don't know if it is the same thing you are hearing of course, but on max volume the top speaker make a slightly buzzing noise, as if it was vibrating a bit too hard.
Oof, sounds like this may be a widespread problem.
For me this is actually significantly worse than the iPhone X buzzing problem (https://9to5mac.com/2017/11/12/iphone-x-speaker-buzzing-distortion/). I had an iPhone X which was replaced free of cost by Apple.
I don't really consider this acceptable in a $1000 device.
Also reminds me of the similar issues that plagued Pixel 3 devices
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/bk8h0c
. Google apparently had software updates. But a brief search indicates that this problem was not fixed for many users in software.
I suspect this is a widespread hardware defect in the Find X3 Pro that Oppo will have to fix in manufacturing.
I experience no buzzing or vibrations on the piano video

Neither did I. It seems the Oppo Find X3 Pro has a different resonance frequency than the Pixel 3. My unit buzzes super heavily when a dude is speaking in a video, but not on the piano video.
I can consistently get my top earpiece to buzz abnormally at max volume at around 400Hz.
Not sure if this is a serious enough issue for you, but I initiated a return outside of the seven day period, and Oppo accepted the buzzing phone as a defective unit after I recorded a video.
I'm hesitant to accept a replacement unit (compared to just refund) if this issue is widespread.

Can you post that video, so we can check out if we are talking about the same level of vibration?

I'm not comfortable sharing the video as Oppo asked me to provide identifying information (serial, proof of purchase) in the video, and I don't know enough about how to edit the video.
But the buzzing at 400Hz was audible.
What about making a new one without all that information?
Or have you sent it back already?
Just sent it back today. Now I need to decide to accept a refund or a replacement
One reviewer for the Find X3 Pro indicates the issues is also present on their review unit after I reached out in private, but did not believe this was something Oppo would fix unless attention was brought into the issue.

Perhaps Oppo will pay attention and fix this in a hardware revision.
Hello , owner since yesterday of an Oppo Find X3 pro , and as i am still looking to get to know the phone and going into some tests (screen , colour accuracy , sound etc ) i did not got that buzzing sound that some other users sadly face....what i wanted to ask is , is there any YT video that we can use as a " sample" to check our own devices? mainly asking because here in Germany we have 2 weeks time to return no-questions-asked every electronic device..
thanks
That's super great to hear!
From the few data points I've seen on social media, it seems like the problem is present on a majority of Oppo Find X3 Pros, but they are either not of the same severity, or people do not notice it to the same degree.

Looking at the second reddit post, I agree with the poster that the issue is very noticeable on zoom when a man is speaking. The lower frequencies in the voice makes the issue super obvious.
Longer term, it would be great if you could reach out to Oppo if you do have the issue.

Can you replicate the problem using the frequency generator?

For me the problem seems to be most serious at around 400Hz, but is starting at around 300Hz.
