Hi guys.
Just ordered a Redmi Note 10 Pro after having literally not used an Android phone in a decade!
I have been researching custom ROMs, trying to prepare myself for the arrival of my new phone. Right now kind of vacillating between the Arrow OS and the MIUI EU - but I know there may be other independent releases I am not even aware of.
I also see a lot of people raving about Pixel Experience. But since it is based around Google apps, I am a little hesitant, since I know how much tracking Google does. It seems, though, this is one of the few ROMs now working with Android 12, which could be a plus.
Since I have not yet personally tried ANY available custom ROMs, I am not even sure what features I am looking for, though obviously it would be nice to have one from which most bugs have been worked out, and which has a focus on ensuring good privacy/less tracking.
If anyone has any recommendations for me, or any suggestions for other ROMs I should look at/test drive, I would appreciate it!
Thanks.

My suggestion is to combine the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T forums. Unless the differences between these two devices are extreme (which we have seen are not), I believe it would be beneficial to the whole community to have one forum, under which they can communicate and contribute. This will also help with future support and development of both devices. Most of the subforums will be the same anyway, e.g. Guides, News, & Discussion; Themes, Apps, and Mods; Accessories. So it doesn't make sense to create two separate forums.
What does the community think?

Yes... There should be one forum for both of them. I agree.

Having separate subforums for OP3 and OP3T ROMs would solve the ROM development issue. Other than that there is no need to create two separate forums and divide/fragment the community further. Having one big forum would be more useful in finding answers to questions and have good discussions.
I think One forum is better.
I don't very see the problem w/ combined, but keeping the development section separate is still ideal except if the ROMs are compatible. And from the look of it, this maybe the case. I saw on one of the post with pic show that the 3T has the same model number as the old OP3.
Yes, please. We need a unified community; not a divided one!
You have my vote for combining OP3 + OP3T! Maybe we should make a poll about it so the mods can see it?

Very well put. I also agree about the poll, great idea.
What about the differences in processor, some camera features, battery? I'm all for unity of the community but hope the forum combination won't limit the 3T from anything.... I'm no expert lol

What about them? People can still ask questions just have to put in the specific models. Even in the 3T forum, one still have to ask specific storage size in certain question. I'm sure most of the XDA members know the different enough when asking specific question. As far as the general usage goes, most of the hardware stay the same and are govern by the ROMs. And from what the OP said, after the Nougat update, the software update cycle will be the same. In term of the community ROMs goes, I still suggest they have separate thread unless they are compatible.

Thats exactly how its done in the Samsung sections like the s7 Edge. They have a separate section for (EXYNOS) ROM development and (SNAPDRAGON) ROM development.
Yes im for this. Just 2 subforums for the 3t and normal 3 development and one unified 3/3t development subforum.
I think rom developers could even bring out one rom for both devices and you can choose what device you have in aroma, like it is on s6 and s6 edge. One rom for both devices and you have to choose what device you have in aroma when you flash the rom
I am totally with you, would be much better to combine them
Is there any word on the compatibility of One ROMs on the 3t? What are the chances of an incompatible kernel hard bricking my phone? I want to give it a shot but I'll kick myself if I brick my phone and 2 days from now a stable cm ROM hits the 3t..
If the roms aren't compatible I don't think they should be combined.
It could get really confusing if no one specifies which model they are talking about.
I agree with you !
Just look at the xiaomi redmi note 3 Forum, there is one Forum for 2 different cpu, one with mediatek, the other one with snapdragon 650. One Forum and 2 development under forums.
When it comes to the OP3 and 3T, you can't interchange ROMs, kernels, recoveries, firmware, or anything else device specific without it bricking your device, and with all these inexperienced people agreeing with you, were sure to have a bunch of panicking crybabies in the forums once they turn their beloved OP3s or 3Ts into paperweights.

THIS. Separate the forums - as above poster says - they are NOT fully compatible, so it's best to keep them apart. Confusion will reign and people will brick their devices.

Roms and Software is different, everything else the same

i dont know if its really a good idea. if it can use the same rom why not but otherwise maybe there is some people going to try 3t rom and brick there phone and would cry on dev.

Agree with this suggestion - the ROM should be the same for both but kernel may vary, which can easily be broken out into individual sub forums
In an ideal world, I think your suggestion is good and valid.
Maybe a developer can comment on how similar these devices truly are? If the conversion of a rom from one to the other is easy, I'd say combine the forums. If not, better keeping things separate.
Good idea. (As a user...)

I agree on using the same Q&A, Guides, dev forums for both and separate only on ROMs. Such scheme is used in the Samsung i9300/i9305 forum so why not recreate that.
Sent from my OnePlus 3 using XDA Labs
Why not? The S3 had its LTE variant with 2GB RAM as another sub forum. It shouldn't be too bad.
No.
Hello all, this is nothing more than a rom request that runs on android 7.1 nougat for the oneplus 3t. Ideally the rom should also be able to support daleski's pixilify v 10 mod for the oneplus 3 (which can be found with a quick search). The rom would also ideally include many of the features in oxygen os such as loclscreen gestures, 3 finger swipe, dark mode, oneplus camera, and app locking. I know that it takes time to build roms and everything I ask for may not be possible, so please take your time and include whatever is possible. If I had any knowledge on building roms, I would, but alas I am but a noob when it comes to these things. I just want to be able to have most of the same features that come with stock and cyanogen mod but also be able to have the pixel launcher and Google assistant on my 3t. Thanks in advance to the developer who puts in the work for this.
Lmao. Oh boy.
Lol.
First and foremost, this is a development forum. This is a place for developers to post ROM's, kernels, recoveries, etc. It is not a request forum.
Secondly, the developers here do not work for you. They do what they do mostly as a hobby, in their spare time, with little to no compensation outside of any donations they may receive.
If you are interested in ROM development, I suggest you check out XDA University here on the site.

Hi guys,
I'd like to know from someone who test different ROMs, which it performs better in terms of autonomy.
On my Mi5, I tested only xiaomi.eu ROMs and recently my SOT is roughly decreased.
So I'm getting close to AOSP ROMs, even if they don't like so much because.... ehm ... MIUI is MIUI
Anyway.. I watched reviews about AICP, the new LineageOS and the RR and some friends of mine told me that RR is actually the best one.
Can you tell me something else about performance and autonomy of these ROMs? Thank you so much
hi guys, id also like to know why the same questions are being asked about custom ROMs over and over again before people have searched for the answer. Mi 5 Forum has all the answers u need. Just search.

Hi friend, in every thread I read you wrote to search better in xda-forum but noone answered properly
Some of these ROMs I mentioned were released yesterday or in this week so ...all threads are older.

Lol then continue on that thread instead of starting a new thread repeating the question. Every opinion will be based on how that individual uses their phone which is most likely different to how you use yours so the best way to determine which one is best is to try them. Just take a backup of miui and play about.
Ok now is that enough with my patient with this phone.! On a global rom and it is stil on june patch. For good sake. My friends low budget Samsung is on september patch. This is not ok. Worst phone after my old Xperia performenc.
I wouldn't worry about that at all.
Updates can trash a phone... if the OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission, let it be!
ALWAYS redundantly backup your critical data to at least 2 hdds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC!!!
My N10+ hasn't been updated in almost 2 years.
The current load is over a year old, still fast and very stable with no issues. Security simply isn't an issue unless you do something stupid.
I'm running on Pie and never was forced to reload because of malware in 2 years... that's how secure an unpatched Android can be.
However even with a fully updated Android... there's no saving dumb bunnies
Why people care so much about that update things?
What we need is a stable phone with everythings work. Not an updated phone but buggy software.

It's mostly hype. Google trying to scare you into upgrading to boost their market share numbers rather than what's best for you.
I'm sampling Android 10* right now. If it runs better than 9 and I find the work arounds I need, I'll upgrade the other Note to 10 as well.
I'd like identical twins
No way they'll be updated to 11 though... it's a dog.
* How well it works also has a lot to do with how well Samsung wrote the firmware. I noticed at lot of new little apks to get around Android's lame swipe gestures and such. I still have my navigation buttons at the bottom on the new Note.
Oh crap another thread.
Here we go @shadowstep - You should really be active for few months atleast for this phone forum. Please!
