OTG not working - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Questions & Answers

Today when I was backing up my system (from orange fox) it suddenly failed and after booting up I can't use OTG devices, it was working untill then but now it doesn't work. I tried to use adb and it works.
I'm using crdroid 7.13 and dominator kernel
I tried to use mouse pendrive etc etc none of them work now
Does anyone have any idea
I saw another thread where someone claimed he knew but he didn't answer as the OP got it fixed by sending it to service center.

What happened exactly was that the backup failed for some reason I pulled out the usb(it was a sdcard reader) and rebooted the system and from then the usb OTG doesn't work for anything except for charging and to connect to pc.

[Q] HELP Getting Samsung Captivate to Mount...will not mount no matter what I do

Ok, I've had this phone for 2 months now. It's the 2.1 Eclair. It used to mount just fine, but now all it does is charge the phone when I attach the usb to the computer. I've eliminated the cord as the issue since my mom's captivate mounts just fine with it. I thought it was originally my computer, which is now Windows 7, but again my moms' captivate mounts just fine. It also won't mount to my other computer running XP. I've installed and uninstalled every samsung driver available but I still cant' get it mounted in either debugging mode or nondebugging mode. I also thought it might be a software issue since I had rooted the phone so I unrooted and did a hard reset. Still no mount! I want to get mounted, and not just by my wife!
At this point I would be happy to simply load apps via the sd card but I can't seem to successfully edit the settings.db file, either. Any help with mounting the phone or simply being able to load nonmarket apps via the sd card would be much appreciated.
Alternatively, here's a question to those much smarter than I. If I can't get the phone to mount via usb cable, how can you install a rom or nonmarket apps without attaching the usb cable?
Thanks!!
1. you can try to download a rom via wifi using internet browser. it will be stored in your \sdcard\download folder. also you need to download update.zip into your sdcard root folder.
2. shut down your phone and reboot into recovery, load the new recovery. (you may need to load twice)
3. flash the new rom by installing the zip file in your download folder.
sounds like it could be an driver prb i had same thing i belive went 2 samsung and got drivers reinstalled and phone mounted 2 pc with no troubles
I believe I found the issue.
Disable auto-sync.
Settings > Accounts and Sync > Deselect the auto-sync option.
My wifes phone had never been able to connect and mount via computer on the cable to the PC. Different PCs, different cables, everything. My phone always worked. First thing I ever did when reinstalling a new ROM was disable auto-sync. Soon as I disabled her auto-sync, the option to mount came right up.
Hope this helped.

*edit* I spoke too soon. Exchanging the phone tomorrow. It has other issues too...

[Q] TP Toolbox, Cant connect TP to any PC

Wondering if im screwed or if someone can help me, I think the USB port on my Touchpad is gone.
I have been trying to use TP Toolbox but it always fails when finding device.
I have tried 4 different computers (3 Win 7 and 1 Win XP) to recognize the Touchpad as being connected via USB.
Its note a Novacom issue, when I connect the touchpad to the computer I get NO confirmation from Windows that a device is connected, no chime, no listing in the device manager, nothing, years ago I remember that even with no Novacom installed I at least got a notice saying a Palm, Inc device had been connected.
The Touchpad thinks its connected to a charger.
Under Android 4.2, only charging, going to USB connection option and selecting MTP doesnt do anything.
Under Web OS, get a notice that the charger is low capacity, but no option no mount device as USB drive.
Under TWRP when I go to Mount SD card, nothing happens.
The TP charges without any problem otherwise, using wall chargers or the wireless charger.
Any help would be appreciated, otherwise Im stuck on Android 4.2 forever

Try a different cable. Make sure it's not an OTG one.

Well for one, as someone said before, make sure you are using a proper USB cable, they aren't all the same, some cheap cables are designed to charge devices but won't work for connecting a device to a computer for data transfer. And also, you need to be in recovery mode for the toolbox to start. Turn the tablet off and then hold the Power + Vol UP until you see the USB symbol appear on the tablet. Connect it to your computer and open the batch file for the toolbox. If you have Novacom properly installed, it should recognize it right away and the toolbox will show up on the tablet.
Thank you to everyone for trying to help but nothing works, I have tried 3 cables so far:
1 that came with a Nexus 5.
The original Touchpad cable with the silver dimple.
A generic cable I have lying around.
Also tried 4 different computers, all same effect.
Does anyone have any other ideas? As I said in the opening post, Touchpad Recovery mode doesnt work, Android USB Mode doesnt work, Web OS USB and TWRP Mount mode the same.
No matter what I do, Windows wont detect that ANYTHING is connected to the USB port, no chime, no entry in the device manager, Novacom installed or not.

Thank you so much, I will give it a try as soon as I get home.
Also, is there anyway to upgrade Android on the TP without USB? I could transfer files using FTP or Wi Fi File explorer.
Possible but problematic

It might be possible to update your tablet without using the TPToolbox but you may have to manually change some partition sizes. I have an older guide for installing data media builds below that doesn't rely on the Toolbox. However I still recommend doing things like uninstalling android, which you can't do, so the procedure might be hit or miss. If you make a nandroid backup and transfer it to your PC you could attempt it. I've updated some of the links and you can find the newer recoveries at the bottom. Have a look and feel free to ask questions if you plan to attempt it, I'll try to update the info a bit.

[Q] USB Device Not Recognised

This is getting frustrating now, no matter what I do I get this message: "USB Device Not Recognised"
Here is what I have tried:
Connect on android
Connect as MTP
Different USB cable (5 to be precise)
DIfferent USB port
WebOS recovery
Reinstall Novacom Drivers
Restart PC
Restart Touchpad
I have no idea what else I can try, no matter what I do, this annoying message persists!
Platform? ROM?
What's the ROM you are using? Also, which platform is your PC on? Linux/Windows/Mac?
In case you are on some 5.1.x ROM, I would recommend a nandroid backup and flashing a known 4.4.4 ROM which might tell you if it's your hardware or just Android. If you were on a stable ROM earlier where USB was working, then I would recommend trying that. :fingers-crossed:
Similar Issue.
My TP actually works (sort of) via MTP but it frequently disconnects when transferring files and freezes my explorer window. I tried to use Mass Storage on PAC KitKat FINAL and windows reports that it can't find a driver for it and when I try to reboot into recovery it only mounts a tiny SD Card partition of some 800mb. This probably won't be answered but whatever. I've been trying to solve this issue the past 8 hours. I have nothing to lose.

hi, had some trouble with my win7 PC detecting touchpad (using JC's 4.4 Cm11), although ADB was installed - I couldn't see it as a storage drive despite the driver installing. touchpad was connected via MTP.
what worked for me was on windows - go to Device Installation Settings (drivers) and choose never install from windows update. Then under device manager -> android device -> uninstall. reconnect and it should work properly. hope that helps

USB OTG not working anymore

Hi,
USB OTG functionality has stopped working on my 3T.
I was on OOS 4.1.6 when it was working.
Then i moved to Open Beta 10. After that it had stopped working,
Here is what i have tried so far :
Considering it a bug of open beta, i moved back to OOS 4.1.6. But to my shock, it was still not working.
I finally decided to root the device and explore the apps that claim to mount USB (requiring root permissions)
After successfully rooting the device and installing TWRP, i installed ExperienceOS based on OOS 4.1.6 but still no luck.
Next i moved to Lineage OS nighlty and tried StickMount(Root), Nexus Media Importer, USB Media explorer, USB Host Check(Root).
Still no luck. But USB Host Check App did give me information : android.hardware.usb.host.xml was OK but handheld_core_hardware.xml was NOT OK.
So i explored in this context and i found a missing entry inside handheld_core_hardware.xml. So i added that and did a reboot.
And set permissions to rw-r-r.
The USB Host Check app now says everything is fine but -
Still no luck.
Can i rule it as Hardware fault? :crying:
Anything else that i can try?
PS - Tried this connector with other devices and is working fine. Also, i tried connecting a mouse with my 3T, it is not working.
I have same problem. Please try to fix it asap. Thanks
Took it to service center where after 2 hrs of investigation, they ruled it as a strange hardware issue ans have asked for 3-4 days for getting and replacing the faulty part. It is 2nd day today, will comment again once i get my phone back.
Update :
So I got my phone back from the service centre. They have changed the usb component and now everything's working fine.

HELP!! Cannot access files!

Hi guys I reaaly need your help!!
1. so basically what happened is my screen is dead but phone is not! i managed to connect the phone to my work pc via usb cable and copied all the data i needed.
2. then somehow the pc hard drive died and i installed a new SSD one but unfortunately i accidentaly deleted a cruical partition on the faulty hdd so all the copied S6 contecnt is now gone.
3. dont ask me how but now, on my new freshly installed OS on my new ssd, i connect the phone again and try to access its folder but nothing is there!
** could i have somehow deleted a samsung partition as well through the windows 10 installation process? (seems unlikely i think).
** could the phone be displaying a question about how i would like to use the usb cable (charging only or data transfer)? if so why would this suddenly happen?
** I tried connecting to another pc but same issuer persists. the driver installs but cannot see files.
** could it possibly work on my home pc because it was previously connected there?
** the icon on the pc is that of a media transfer like an mp3 player. when i access it there are no files but when i right click i dont have an option to add folders so i'm guessing this maybe a permissions issue?
how can I access the files on the phone?! THANKS!!!
just to update i got it all sorted out trying to press randomly on the phone apparently i managed to access the files so what i can understand is that the phone keeps a list of all the pc's its ever been connected to and a setting of which connection type to allow this pc.
As soon as i formatted the pc, the phone recognized it as new and probably asked my if i want charging or data transfer. somehow i managed to chose data transfer!
Thanks a lot anyways and have a great day
