How To Guide How to take a screenshot on Galaxy A33 - Samsung Galaxy A33 5G

Press power + volume down and quickly release.
Unlike other phones, holding them down opens power options.
You can also swipe your palm across the phone but that triggers back gesture almost all the time. (If you are not using gesture navigation, you are good to go)

Just as an added bit of advice, you can easily snapshot your Android phone over Wi-Fi on your PC (I do it all the time) which has huge advantages in efficiency (and, for Android 11 and below, it also gets around protected apps preventing screenshots).
Here are just some of the ways I screenshot my phone over Wi-Fi with Windows.

speed improving dramatically ...

after pressing power button twice the 2D speed of the device is being improved dramatically. Do you know why does it act like that?
thanks!
say what? can you be more specific?
1. what rom are you using?
2. what applications are you using that would affect the power state of the device?
3. could you elaborate more on your situation?
Hi,
1. what rom are you using?
I've used several ROMS: AthineOS, Hyperdragon, UX and TPC Elite
2. what applications are you using that would affect the power state of the device?
No application specifically.
3. could you elaborate more on your situation?
E.g when I restart my phone, it would work slow. I press the power button. It goes into sleep mode. I press it again. And from this point I get turbo speed in menus.
Don't really know what's the reason for this.
Thanks for help.
the only thing i can think of is if the fonts are being cached. i know if i opened my menus and browsed through the second time it was twice as fast.
i guess don't worry too much about it if it's not giving you problems. consider it a blessing.
I don't think the fonts might be cached. When I soft-reset my Kaiser I can work very long periods with my applications and it's slow. Immediately that I press the power button twice the speed is extremely improved. Scrolling works very smooth and fast than before.
It's starting to annoy me that I can't find the reason for this.
If you have any ideas, please help me out.
Looks like some application is stuck some where and harding resources. Please see the list of tasks (not applications) which are running with and without your trick of two presses of power buttons.
i concur!
i read this thread the day it was started...i can also observe the behavior reported by the OP but i did not post back because it is a minor inconvenience that is easily resolved when the device goes to standby (manually or automatically)
just to be more clear, here is what you can do to observe the behavior:
1. soft reset the device
2. when it completes booting, DO NOT LET IT GO INTO STANDBY
3a. if you have WM6.5, you can use the start menu as a test application
3b. if you have WM6.1, start an application like resco explorer or opera 9.x
4. scroll up/down and observe the 2D rendering speed
5a. if you did step 3a, LEAVE THE START MENU ON SCREEN
5b. if you did step 3b, LEAVE RESCO/OPERA ON SCREEN
6a. press the power button to manually put the device in standby
6b. let the device standby on its own (if you have set a timeout in power settings)
7. press the power button AGAIN to wake the device
8. now try scrolling again in whatever menu/application you left running
you will observe a noticable improvement in 2D rendering performance. i stress that it IS noticable but NOT significant...i'm not saying it is insignificant but it is not "twice as fast" or "turbo" either, IMHO.
just thought i should chime in and state my observations...just so the OP doesn't feel his mind is playing tricks on him
perhaps some cook and/or windows mobile developer can shed some light and MAYBE discover a nugget of a tweak in the process...? (fingers crossed) afterall, chainfire's gfxboost was developed after some dude reported his discovery of improved 2D performance if the htc album application was left with an open (but paused) video in the background.
I know about this slowdown, it causes MEMFIX with 101MB RAM. I guess there is some way how to get rid of it, but I always forget it where I saw it.

Samsung Captivate Power Button Not Working . FIXED :)

If your phone's power button is in a 'pressed' state, like mine, (turns on automatically when battery is inserted), it is a hardware issue.
Here is a hassle free alternative to turn on the phone when it is in sleep mode, without relying on the power key!! Takes a minute or two only!!
1. Get 'Go launcher' from the app market (play)
2. Get 'Go Locker'
3. Now Enable Go Locker on your device. And you are done!!
When the screen goes black again, Just press the volume button, The screen wakes up!!
Using this method you don't lose the normal functionality of the volume rocker!!
I recalled that I used to have Go Locker on my phone, and that when I pressed the Volume key the screen turned on!!
At that time I found it a little annoying, But now it has turned out to be such a gift!!
* For this method to work, your phone has to be rooted.
The power button is not going to work until the hardware is repaired, I prefer to use this method, because it is a safe and quick method!!
Believe me I looked around the internet and this forum for a fix, The usual method: editing the system files on the phone, and after which the volume button cannot be used to control the volume.
For those looking for a quick fix, just follow my method!
Cheers!
There are also several roms out there that have the volume rocker wake built into the rom without making it completely useless for it intended purpose. As well as several that offer a go to sleep toggle in the notification window so you can lock your phone again.
so this is a hardware issue ? i had been using the go locker i been using but the power button is annoying cus it keep showing the power button options . and killing my battery.
only fix is samsung?
Pretty much every version of cm for cappy has volume rocker wake as an option, because of this common problem. I use app called turn off screen as well.

I had the exact same problem with my Epic Touch 4G. Thought it was the ROM, the overclock, etc. I flashed back to (almost) stock, went back to original clock speeds. I couldn't figure out what it the world was causing the issue, until it got worse. Then, I noticed that even brushing past the power button would wake the screen, and about 10 seconds later the phone would reboot.
Long story short, I bought a replacement power switch, soldered it in place, and have had zero problems since!
Several eBay sellers offer the proper replacement switch you'll need.
(They don't include the required skills to properly desolder/solder it, however. It's a tiny switch - about 4mm x 2mm x 1.5mm, and you'll need a good quality fine-tipped soldering iron.)

secret stock 4.3 reboot to safe mode

hi guys found a little secret reboot into safe mode option in stock 4.3
if you hold power button until the power off option appears then hold your finger on shut down and rotate the screen to horizontal , it switches to saying:
"reboot into safe mode? all apps disabled until rebooted again"
nice little trick to determined if your apps are causing lag.:good:

Fixed that for ya.
You don't need to rotate screen, just hold/tap a text a little bit longer.

Hi, chismay...
There are a few half secret undocumented key presses in Android... and you've just stumbled upon one of 'em. Though you can skip the rotate screen part of it.
Two others that I know of, which are sort of half known...
Long press the Home Button in any app, and it will bring up a circular Google Button, swipe up to this button, and it fires up Google Search/Google Now. Very useful if, whilst in the middle of Temple Run, you want to Google the nearest pizza delivery service.
If you have the AOSP browser installed... in the browser, long press on the Back Button, and it brings up the Bookmarks/History/Saved Pages screen. This seems to work on any Android device running the AOSP browser. Sadly, however, it doesn't work with Chrome.
--------------------------------
If I remember correctly, Safe Mode was introduced with Jellybean 4.1. I became aware of it, quite accidentally, whilst running a Custom Jellybean 4.1.2 ROM on my Advent Vega about a year ago.
It's very useful, as you say, for identifying and then uninstalling potentially rogue apps, that might be interfering with the normal running of the tablet... as all user installed apps are temporarily suspended.
The only problem with it is, upon rebooting your tablet again normally, you tend to loose your widget placements... which can be a bit of a nuisance if you have several widgets, and each one has to be re-configured again afterwards. Very time consuming.
Although it's never happened to me, a rogue app could theoretically prevent the tablet from booting properly. In such a scenario, you can access Safe Mode from a fully shut down state, as follows...
QUOTE: "From a cold start boot (press & release Power button), wait 2 seconds after the B&W Google (bootloader) splash screen appears, then press and hold Vol-Down button until the normal OS boot is fully completed (lock screen or home screen appears)."

This requires a degree of precision timing, but it does work on the Nexus 7... and is very similar to how I access Safe Mode on my Samsung Galaxy S3, as the long press on the Power Off option doesn't work as it does on the Nexus 7.
Anyway... just some thoughts.

cool i didnt know about the safe reboot from complete shut down, good to know:good:

Disabling power button (short/long press) on lockscreen.

Are there any solutions to disable volume and power button in lockscreen? I know there's an app which *tries* to hide the power menu, that doesn't seem to be secure enough, since long pressing still shuts down the phone.
Recently lost a phone (and successfully retrieved it, thanks to surveillance camera). The phone in question was secured with lockscreen, and it came back factory reset, ready to be sold in stolen phone market, which led me to finding ways upping my phone security.
Now, suppose I have tracker apps installed on my Note 5, it would rely on WiFi or mobile network to be traceable, and so far the only loophole I can find is:
1. Wrap the phone in tinfoil, all signal is lost.
2. Blocks speaker with thumb to muffle any alarms I set off
3. Rush home before I enable any alarms or track location, get connected to PC and start tinkering with stuff.
4. Keeps screen on until battery dies.
5. Or, just simply hold the power button.
With the Note 5, taking out the battery is out of question, which is a good thing in this case, (although not so good for a bricked phone with dead power button).
So, the next sensible option is to turn off the phone by long pressing power button, which is not exactly a hard thing to do.
Any other ideas would be appreciated. (I still don't fully understand how hard/easy it is to factory reset the phone with lockscreen on.)
You can disable power button on lock screen through an option in Wanam xposed or GravityBox.
But you can not prevent combo buttons to force phone turn off/reboot like Power + Volume down

Way to prevent accidental screenshot?

9 out of 10 screenshots I take are by accident when I'm trying to press the power button to turn the screen off. With the volume buttons opposite the power button, it's too easy to press them. Is there a way to change how a screenshot is taken?
Enable the swipe gesture in advance features

That's already on, but the other way I'm talking about is still active.
Hold you phone differently, unless your hands are so monstrous that preventing your fingers from pressing the volume button is impossible.
Thanks for the Apple-grade suggestion like I've got bad reception on my iPhone. lol
Holding the phone as usual in my right hand, it's not typically a problem. But frequently if it's in my left or I do a quick reach with either to turn the screen on and view notifications and turn it back off, I end up with an accidental screenshot. If I could make it require a momentary hold of the buttons before it takes a screenshot, it would do the trick.

You could try installing a Bixby button remapper. Many of them allow you to set different functions to your hardware/mechanical buttons & or set delays of different intervals while keeping the current buttons doing the usual stock actions. If you are rooted you only need to install once. If you are stock UnRooted you need to run adb commands every time you turn off or reboot but this is the only option I can think of that will do what you need done. Bxactions is one app and another is button Mapper. Cheers & hope this helps you out.
