Samsung s20 fe exy Fingerprint scanner not working after motherboard replacement. - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

I think i found the problem.
The EFS UID and Sensor UID are different.
Is there any way to change my sensor uid?
Thanks allot

go back to whoever 'fixed' your phone and tell them they need to sort it for you.
a professional company shouldn't be overlooking this.

Great, i told myself to sort it out .
I need to find a way to change efs uid or fingerprint sensor uid. If I can match those id,s it should be working.
I have tried some Id changers but no apk could edit the fingerprint sensor uid...
I hope some professional can help me change it myself.
Just looking for the right tools

LOL, fair point. I'm still thinking that kind of low level flashing is still something a repair shop or better yet a service centre has the equipment and software to perform. it's certainly for semi obvious reasons not something normal users would be allowed access to.
maybe if you know some really diligent phone thieves they might be in a position to help.

no I don't know, that's why I'm suggesting a service centre. I am a normal user.

Does anyone know if its possible to change hardware uid from ubuntu phone?

Pretty sure if you flash the firmware with Odin (not saving anything by doing a full wipe) that should allow the phone to pair with the sensor again. It's a safety thing so people can't get into your phone by bypassing the fingerprint sensor. Back up your phone and reinstall your phone's firmware. You can find the firmware you need from sammobile.com. Lookup a guide for Odin on youtube, that should help.

to be clear: The fingerprint sensor passes all test, got it's own uid but because its a part from another s20 fe it doesn't connect due to mismatch uid. I just need to change the uid and it will connect.

Sorry about that, I have done that on a few Samsung phones with that method before with success so I assumed it would work on that phone as well. I sadly have no idea how you could manually change that UID on the sensor without specialized equipment to read the sensor. If you found a reader that's compatible with it you might be able to edit your uid on it with flashrom.org but that's a long shot if I'm being honest.

Where are those uid,s stored and is there really no better (usb cable only) solution? lol

I mean how would samsung itself or a repair shop do it

From my experience as a Samsung authorized repair shop, when we get that kind of issue and we have to send it to them they have an adapter that reads the device and allows them to program it via a computer. It's like when you program screens for iPhones. I'm honestly not sure where you would get the reader and even if you have the reader everything could be encrypted so much you wouldn't be able to change it without special software from samsung. I sadly have not programmed one of those yet, so it's not something I can be certain on. If it were me I would order a reader if I can find it (I'll do some research for ya and see if I can locate a 3rd party one) then try to reprogram it.
EDIT: Here is a parts website that sells parts for the s20fe. I use these guys a lot and they have most everything on there. It can act as the list your looking for https://www.mobilesentrix.com/replacement-parts/samsung/galaxy-s-series/galaxy-s20-fe-5g

Thank you kindly sir!
And what a website it's almost 50% cheaper then aliexpres

UPDATE: I could not find a publically available reader for that specific fingerprint scanner, sorry. Although, the fingerprint sensor on MobileSentrix is able to be used on any board (confirmed by replacing one on an s20fe I had laying around in my store). No reprogramming is required. It's an unlocked version that has no UID. I would order that and just replace it. https://www.mobilesentrix.com/fingerprint-sensor-flex-for-samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-5g

Hi Friend,
I think that i used the motherboard of an s20 fe in complete frame and screen of s20 fe 5G. For that reason everything inside was almost exactly the same except 1 model had an extra tiny sensor module with cable wired to a sensor and the s20 fe 5G did not. I think the screen was programmed to work only with the wired sensor and not with the build in motherboard sensor. Even though the scanner is fully functioning and passes all samsung test, It;s just not working because it;s not for s20 fe 5G lol. Very stupid of me but thanks allot for your effort and you yet gave me a good site for lcd,s which i was looking for ,, have great sunday!
(ps: i still believe if i was be able to reprogram uid of s20 fe 5g sensor to match uid efs of s20 fe motherboard the 5G fingerprintscanner would work on s20 fe motherboard . maybe in the future we can try something like this
I sold the phone now, customers know about the issue.

I have a blank canvas to work with, people!

Hi everyone,
Long time reader, first time poster. This website really is the best source for all your galaxy needs. I learned how to root my first Android, a galaxy S4 here. Anyways, I'm here because I have scoured the internet trying to find a certain ROM that it seems no one has made.
I have a Galaxy S6 Active. recently, I lost service with AT&T, and I want to install a custom ROM on it. Here's the things though. This is no longer an AT&T phone. I don't care about KNOX, or if I can make or receive phone calls on it. I want to turn it into smething completely different. Linux OS, perhaps. Just an external hard drive. If I had to put a name on what I'm trying to find, it would be "NFC device with bluetooth and WIFI capabilities". I hope I'm explaining myself clearly. It's no longer a phone to me, but a blank canvas I can tweak and morph into something completely new.
Lmao good luck. Root.bounty @ $1550

Trust me, I did. There are so many cool ROMS out there. I guess what I'm not understanding is....well... why?
So, a cell phone (if you can even call it that any more, lol) is a piece of hardware with software on it. If I remove ALL of the software from it, Everything... even ODIN. Aren't I left with something similar to a laptop with a formatted hard drive? Can't I put something like an MBR on it and start from scratch? That's what I'm looking for. Not some program that can simulate kit kat or lollipop. I want something that will wipe it down to where all I see on the screen is a flashing C:\

I don't think you understand how these phones work, you could indeed somehow wipe all the partition of the phone in Odin which if you didn't know isn't part of the phone but a computer program, but if your clever enough to build an OS by yourself to run on the phone then Thumbs Up! & you'd need to unlock the phones bootloader and have very expensive hardware and software to even get into this phone, your idea is good but impossible sorry to burst your bubble my friend.

mind=blown. OK, so that is something I was not aware of. So, to try and understand it better, that is like me trying to login to my laptop's BIOS and it having password protection that only Dell knows the code to?

Yep, pretty much. Except in this case, it's both Samsung and AT&T's business agreements that have it locked down. Until someone cracks it, or they unlock it, we're all in a holding pattern.

Yes, big business definitely has us at their mercy. Plus I heard a rumor that the guy who unlocked the previous bootloader now works for them.
So, how would one, with only ODIN, a USB cable, an internet connection, and alot of time on their hands, go about trying to unlock this bootloader? I mean, I know there are many people out there who are WAY more qualified than me and have way better equipment. But, hey, I could do it. I'm coming into this with no frame of reference or previous experience. Meaning I have the ability to see the problem from a perspective that no one ever has before. Who knows... and I can't fail if I never even try

Ah, right - yeah it seems to be the same version as me and same region. The only difference is our model (you are on single SIM variant and I am on Dual)
The only thing I could suggest at the moment - is using the firmware for another region (using firmware finder and HuRUpdater). For you it would be best to try C432 8.1.0.128 as it's the European firmware and region.
For this, of course you will need to have an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery.

Cheers - thought same, but trying to avoid anything on the riskier side of the spectrum in the hope that some of the newer releases make their way to EE phones.
I've also got issues with WiFi Prioritizer simply not working at all - do you happen to use that? (I run a couple of SSIDs at home and need to switch between).

Yeah, it's frustrating that UK providers are so lackluster about pushing firmware updates. I'm with Three. If you do need help changing firmware to .128 European - then I'd be happy to help if you add me on Telegram @Shaolin36 (I've softbricked this phone around 3 times now and rescued it by various means lol) but I have work at 4pm UK time and wont be back until late tonight.
I haven't really been in a situation that allows me to test that mate, so I couldn't say. What I used to do a few years back was configure all of my routers under the same SSID so the extra routers effectively were just strength boosters - but that might not be appropriate for your intended use.

Cheers for the offer, really appreciate that. I've not flashed a phone in yonks. Moved to the dark side for a while as got so pissed off with Android ecosystem inconsistencies. Say what you want about Apple, but at least you know what you're gonna get.
I think I'm going to sit it out for a couple of weeks and see if EE get their finger out, then I'll consider flashing. It's not tragic but occasionally I think - why isn't that working? Then have to trawl through settings to find that EMUI has disabled something. Probably least of my worries, my sort code and account number and PIN have likely already been wired to Shenzen.
As for WiFi. SSID switching is piss poor on most devices unless you have a mesh system that incorporates proper hand-off. I have an additional SSID from my repeater upstairs so it can reach my garage, but I don't want to be joining that unless I'm actually in the garage, hence a standalone SSID. Using WiFi prioritizer should mean I can specify the hand-off parameters to meet my requirements, but whilst it runs, and has the right permissions set in EMUI/Android, it never actually switches SSID.
It's these little niggles that sometimes make me regret Android they really do.

Yes, the accessibility issue is really bugging me too, as I have lastpass installed and it needs to be enabled to work in Chrome and seems to randomly switch off.

At least glad it's not just me. I also use Lastpass and it's one of the worst impacted by it.
Go to : Settings (app) > Battery > App Launch
Make sure LastPass isn't automatically handled because that could be your issue - give it a try and let me know if it works. Battery management on an app-by-app basis can cause issues with apps that require certain accessibility.

Yeah that's pretty much the first thing you need to change. Needs to be automatic, but it makes no odds. There are a couple of other settings I always change in addition to this one, but clearly EMUI is doing something weird in the background

There's plenty around online and on YouTube - if you're not rooted then you'll need to use the ADB method and output it to a text file. Logcats when running output thousands of lines of code - so it's best to run the logcat just before the issue is likely to happen and stop it as soon as you notice the setting was turned off - and then use the 'find' feature to look for keywords like 'lastpass' in the .txt file outputted by ADB logcat.

It won't work unfortunately. Just did some research and, on Pie, Samsung appears to have disabled this function.

Remove Knox or Root without debug options

Hi all. I'm new to the site, so if I'm posting in the wrong forum, please let me know. I hope someone can help.
When I left my last company, they allowed me to take my Note 9 because it was paid in full. New management came in and set up Knox MDM. Because my device was paid for by them, they added my device to Knox and put it in Kiosk mode. I can no longer do anything on it but send/receive calls. I contacted Verizon, and they said even though i pay for the service, the device is technically still owned by the company and couldn't help me. So, i'm left with either buying a new phone or asking new management to remove me from knox. They will not, so I was hoping someone knew how to remove knox, possibly through rooting the phone. However, I can't enable developer mode. When I click on the build number, i get a message saying the feature is disabled by knox.
this is just a suggestion, I'm not saying to follow it. wait for someone else to confirm it's an OK idea or a terrible one.
using a PC or even another rooted phone you could run ADB and remove Knox packages. pretty sure you can do this successfully on newer phones but with Knox ''activated'' and doing stuff I'm not sure.

Thanks for the advice. I'm good with that route, and I'm good with wiping the phone to root it. I installed ADB on my laptop and connected the phone, but it when I run adb devices, nothing is returned. I assumed it was because the phone wasn't in developer or usb debugging mode. So, I was hoping there was a way to do it without needed access to settings.
oh crap yeah, I forgot you did say that. curious do you still work for this company ?
either try doing ADB thru the recovery (never tried it, know nothing about it but it's a thing) or give a factory reset a try. the reset should at the very least kill off the companies settings though I'm not sure how much use that'll be.
flashing appropriate firmware with Odin should work for you too.

Thanks 3mel. I'll give those things a whirl. I'm not employed with them anymore, which is why going to new management isn't an option. A friend of mine still works there and they told me that management asked verizon for the device id's for the last 5 years and just put them all on knox. For them, $1/mo for a devices no longer in use by them outweighed the potential of missing devices in the wild.

Question Unable to Establish Reliable Connection to GPS Satellites

Hey Everyone,
I own an Exynos S21 Ultra, model number SM-998B/DS. I do enjoy the device, yet it has this problem with connecting to GPS satellites, which is really inconvenient and frustrating. I will need to use GPS extensively in a near future and I don't want to change my phone.
GPS Test application shows no connection to satellites. I tried all the possible solutions offered online, even factory resetting the phone, but still no luck... Though I came across an old YouTube video, which showed promise. But the codes for this Exynos processor phone are completely different, so that didn't work either. I put the link to the video.
YouTube video:
Has anybody encountered and solved this annoying issue?
I am in need of an expert's help... Thank you.
Somehow I can't believe the lack of GPS if the device is operational.
Did you do a "Clear and update" on the AGPS option with internet access enabled?
