honest opinion

Hello all note users. I currently have a new pixel 3 xl and have been offered a note 9 for it. I know this is a note thread but am looking for a little honest opinions on if I should make the trade. If you haven't used a pixel no offense your opinion won't help. I'm interested but am on the fence. If you have a pixel 3xl or 2 xl I would love to know what you think. Thanks guys

Stick with the pixel if u are one of those that hates waiting for updates and prefers a generic android experience.

Not too concerned about the updates. I'm more interested in user experience. Battery for both will be fine for anyone, camera obviously better on the pixel and screen obviously on the note. Basically it boils down to user experience.
user experience is the best you can get on android, camera is more versatile than pixel's, vanilla droid is barebones and plain boring

Well I just sold my Pixel 3XL today and am waiting for a S10+. I had the Note 9 for a while and liked it alot. My main reason for going to the 3XL was the camera but being with the phone for a few months all the little annoyances with bluetooth, screen not waking all the time with the double tap, crashing apps and things breaking with every update I am going back to Samsung. They are slower for the updates but they release a more polished and stable OS. I really think the Pie update is beautiful on the Note. Plus the hardware is far better. I didn't go for another Note 9 because I like the design and screen to body ratio on the 10+ better. As for your trade it is fair but only you can decide what is best for your needs and wants.

Thanks alot, I'm thinking I might just stick with what I have. From doing a little research it's not really an upgrade so I might just sell it when the note 10/pixel 4 xl comes out. I had Samsung for about 8 years straight and got sick of TouchWiz lag so I went with the pixel 2xl then the 3xl. If the 4xl doesn't wow me I'm done with Google and will be back with samsung:good:
As a pixel 3 and a note 9 owner, lets just say the pixel 3 is collecting dust and I will be selling it soon. The pixel 3 is probably the most boring phone I ever had. And the camera, IMO, is not better than the note 8.
My Pixel XL3 was returned (boring) and happily been enjoying the badboy Note 9 EXynos!

Care to elaborate on how it's boring, come on guys help me out. From my s8+ days I found it to be almost phone suicide to root. The pixel phones can be rooted with tons of ROMs, kernels, mods..... Can be done by a 10 year old. Not sure it's necessarily boring?
All stock android phones are boring. Pixel, oneplus, pixel roms etc all offer the same experience. Thats a pro and a con.
If the Pixel was $5-600 it would be a better contender. But at similar cost to the Note and other fully featured phones(Huawei fanboy here) it doesnt compete.
Camera and updates are what youre paying for.
If youre a user like myself I can trade off a touch of speed for a device that includes everything plus some.
Im only a few days in with the Note but its the best overall device out and this is coming from a mate 20x/pixel 3 xl user.
Only thing its missing is ir blaster.
To be honest Samsung's One UI is probably allot closer to stock android that it was in it's previous iteration. Which is kinda good. However I am not a fan of the huge Notification Drawer as it is way to big when compared to what was on Samsung UI. Also allot of the key features from Samsung UI are now not present in One UI. That said the only good thing I like in Samsung's One UI is the new navigation gestures and the fact that you can turn off the on screen buttons.

Question I am a libran which means I can't make decisions

I am an Australian avid Google Pixel user currently on a Google Pixel 3 XL ready to upgrade. However the current Pixel line up is not exciting with no Pixel 5 XL. So for the first time i have considered switching to an Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max. Simply because I hate bloatware and can only really enjoy a pure stock android experience and therefore I am hesitate to get the Samsung S21 Ultra.
So my question is - Should I just get the Samsung S21 Ultra for now and follow one the Debloat S21 Ultra guides on here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...agship-samsung-huawei-oneplus-phones.4238473/) and hope that a pure android experience ROM is created in the future?
Is it likely there will be a pure android (Pixel experience or similar) ROM for the Samsung S21 Ultra in the future?

You don't want a pure Android, it will limit functionality, especially the cameras. And if you mean pure as in stock but fully debloated, then again, you can just debloat it your self.
And if you truly are considering getting an iphone just because it has less preinstalled trash-apps, then you are better off with an iphone and not with Android.

Another Libra here... I caved and bought the Ultra despite still being perfectly happy with the current Mate 20 Pro... I wanted the ginormous battery and screen plus the much better camera system.
Moderately happy so far, but had I paid full price, I would NOT be.
Sorry, can't even consider the Pixel route, Google seems to deliberately fk the users with subpar hardware and now higher prices.
Can't gamble with Pixel 6 ..the Samsung incentives have already expired.
I did debloat the phone to a reasonable extent, use GCam when I can, use Galaxy Max Hz to better control the refresh rate. A ton of available tweaks.
My 2 Canadian pesos... which also means I have the SD version.

General Selling my S22 Ultra as the Xiaomi Mi11 with Pixel Experience is better!

Just got my new S22 ultra and its not as good as my Xiaomi mi11 with Pixel Experience!
The Xiaomi is faster, better screen, better UI, better battery, feels better in my hand, lighter. The only thing the S22 is better is camera and sound.
I think im going to sell it..
this is the Snapdragon version btw..
Mi 11 with Pixel Experience really is a whole new device. Best custom ROM experience I've had in many years. Bonus, unlike real Pixels, Mi 11 with PE works for 5G and VoLTE in my region. Best of all worlds.
Only drawback is the camera. Everything else, chef's kiss.

Better battery backup with Mi 11? I don't believe you

Pixel 5 in 2022 - worth buying?

Hey Pixel 5 owners, greetings from Ukraine!
I had been using Pixel 4A for quite a while, but the battery started draining fast, and even the battery replacement didn't help.
That's why I switched to Realme 9 Pro+, but sometimes I pick up my 4A, and it's much more pleasant to use for me even though Realme has better specs.
I'm considering going back to some Pixel, and since the Pixel 6 is bigger and heavier than I like (and looks like it's quite buggy), I'm thinking of buying a Pixel 5 having that nice plastic back with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner I like. The size and weight are also great.
However, it's been two years since the Pixel 5 was released. Still relevant? Refurbished Pixel 5 vs. new Pixel 5?
Thank you!!

The Pixel 5 is no longer available new from Google. I bought mine new to replace my old Pixel 2, and it's been a solid phone. If you don't mind a slightly larger device with 6GB RAM vs 8GB, the 5a is a solid device, and has a higher capacity battery. Either way, both are very solid phones. I dislike the Pixel 6 so I won't be upgrading.
If you can find a good conditioned Pixel 5, absolutely!
I LOVE mine.
I was probably going to grab a Pixel 6a considering the Tensor chip and smaller size, but the 60Hz screen is a full on no-go for me. I mean hell, the Pixel 5 has a 90hz screen..
But yea if you don't mind a little bigger phone, the 5a looks promising.. I prefer the smaller sized screen on the 5 though.
I'll easily wait for the Pixel 7 to see if I like it. For now, the Pixel 5 is still getting me 10+ hours on a full charge. (lite user here..)
Stock ROM + AOSP MOds FTW.

thanks for sharing! That sounds like a plan... grabbing a P5 or P5A and waiting for the P7 reviews to decide on upgrading.

Question pixel 7 or pixel 7 pro

Hello, I want to buy a new phone, I had a Samsung s21 ultra but got a hardware problem now I'm trying to buy a new phone and experience a different brand.
I did some simple research and I saw the difference is only 120HZ and screen size, is there any else noticeable that I should buy a pixel 7 pro?

Are photo/video quality or camera ability important to you?
Pixel 7 Pro has telescoping lens and better ultra-wide lense...
Not really, i like to take photos sometimes but camera is not mandatory for me

I'm not exactly sure in terms of internals (system board, SoC, etc.), but other than screen size, Hz, camera hardware, one step higher storage capacity, a bigger battery (but still has a comparatively-to-other-flagships significantly lower SOT), and more RAM -- those are probably the major differences, so if those aren't a priority and/or aren't worth the price difference....
What did it for me was the size. Pixel 7 in 6.3 inches diagonal, already a bit too large for my taste. Pixel 7 is 6.7 inches diagonal. How big of a phone do you want to carry around all day? Also, the pro has a curved screen, the 7 has flat edges.
I also compared the two phones - I did not find any other differences. Is there a big difference in price?

I actually bought the pro, idk about your country but I bought it for 680$ 128GB the base one was for 545$ for 135 bucks I think it was better to buy the pro.

I see there was not a big difference in price that's why I chose the pro one.
