Question Battery Life, expectations? - Redmi Note 11 (spes/spesn)

Hi all,
As you know, I got this device a couple of weeks ago as a upgrade (birthday pressie).... and on the whole, I am might impressed with it. Compared to previous phones, this is awesome....
However, one odd thing I am experiencing... is battery life? Whilst I read reports of this device and the other I was looking at, Note 10 5G. Both had 5000mah batteries, and reviews RAVED about how good battery life is in them. Some even saying it can be used as a Battery Bank to charge other peoples phone.
However in actual use of the phone, I'm afraid to use it... for merely tapping a few icons, browsing web and running/opening camera... I literally am watching the percentages drain... I thought this thing would be rock solid, and can generally browse/mess around and the battery will slowly decrease...?
Don't get me wrong, if I don't touch it and leave it in standby it will claim to last at least a couple of days... or that said, running it as SatNav and not touching the screen on a 30min drive, it didn't drain the battery at all and stayed at 100% (which did surprise me).
But to me, what appears as light use, tapping icons and surfing around see's it draining fairly quickly. I dread to think if I was playing a high end game, it will prolly be gone in 5 mins.... Good job I don't do games... lol
Cheers, Lister

Morning Lister .. ya got your paddling pool ready for tomorrow lol
Mines been quite doing the same playing with gcam ( I haven't uploaded the XML yet , reming me to do it later ).
I have noticed the battery draining quicker when the screens set to 90mhz , as I've read elsewhere that seems quite normal as the phone has to refresh the screen faster than it would on 60 . Signal strength can be detrimental too , a bad signal means the phone tries harder to pull it in and uses more battery in the process .
When I've finally got everything set up I'll see how long I can get on a charge , still got to copy me 3 stooges collection on to it , all 65gb of it

I think this phone has 90hz refresh rate, not 120mhz. Maybe u wrote it by mistake.

Hi The Mero,
Oh don't, I am not a sun lover at the best of times and these last few days/week's been killing me... lol.
I am, as we speak, practicing my Snow Dance !!! ;-) LOL
Yeah, seems odd that a camera can zap that much battery. I get it has to do a couple of things, active viewfinder, take the pic and then use processing power to render the output. But after reading all the rave reviews, this battery will last you into the next pandemic and all that... It to me, just seems to drain a little too quickly for my liking. I was expecting to get some fun time, without watching the battery drain down...
I think this screen can only go to 90mhz, but that said... I even have my set to the standard 60mhz. I not really played around with it, but it seems quick enough for me at 60mhz and every bit of battery helps. Like being in a heatwave and keeping ya aircon off, whilst sitting at the traffic lights with windows open... Gotta save that fuel/battery... ;-) lol
I did look at battery drain, and Mobile Standby did seem high, which is odd as its never been an issue with my older phones in same location. I'll keep an eye on that though, cheers....

Hi The Mero,
I just noticed this thread pop up, which is similar thing... It seems a few are getting the high Cell Standby for no reason at all... Although they appear to be on the updated version...??
"Cell Standby" battery drain on latest MIUI Global 13.0.12?
Hi, everyone. I bought a Redmi Note 11 Global a few days back and while setting it up, I was amazed at the battery life. It was at 56% when I opened it up, and throughout the entire setup process and after around 5 or 6 hours of screen on time, I...
forum.xda-developers.com
That said, I do have Calls over WiFi enabled, as it's the first time i've owned a phone that supports and is now available on my plan (PAYG lol). So I enabled it, just to try it out... lol
But apparently, this can be a zapper and cause the Cell Standby issue. Might try disabling it, and see if Battery Life improves....
Cheers, Lister

I'm on PAYG too , I turn off internet calling ( volte ) I had an issue on the X3 where you could hear the other person but they couldn't hear you . Some said it was a flaky mic and some said volte ( another name for it ) . Anyways I knocked it off and calls were fine after that . So if you start getting the same issue give that a try . Plus battery issues could be down to the CPU not behaving . Russian forum had some with the CPU stuck at full throttle while others were stuck at lowest speed . All using different miui versions or custom ROMs , this is getting worse every time we read about it

This phone is in need of a custom kernel. I think the default CPU/GPU governor is not properly optimised. We don't want the CPU to fire up all its cores and constantly hit 2.4Ghz while playing candy crush.
Also, MIUI 13 is so restrictive and bland. We are losing controls and features with each new update.
This amazing hardware needs a divorce from its retarded software.

some interesting reading .. miui updates
MIUI 13 Beta MI-V13.0.2 for Redmi Note 11 has been suspended due to a Google Play Server error

In my case, the amazing hardware broke up with its retarded software and is currently married to this chick named Pixel Experience. The experience is way way smooth and is something we and the hardware totally deserves. Though yes we really need a custom kernel, I don't know why Xiaomi hasn't released kernel sources for this device until now

Same here, unlocked bootloader and currently on Evolution X. Though all google apps and services are debloated so basically vanilla. I get 10 hrs screen on time with about 40 hrs standby

Hi All,
The battery on this device is really really shocking.... as in shockingly bad !!!
When I read about 5000mah ( basically double anything I've had prior ) and how good the reviews for battery life were on these devices. I had high hopes, I thought Id be able to tap away, causally wasting hours watching pointless YouTube and whatnot...
However here I am, re-arranging icons.... Configuring Applications (TruePhone and it's GAZZILION options), and watching the percentages just drop off, one by one by one.... I bet if I put a chocolate egg outside in this heatwave, it will melt at a slower rate than the battery drains...
Admittedly, I do have a few Apps on it... but no more than when I look at other peoples phones and it's not like I am putting heavy/tasking apps on. No gaming apps or anything like that... And to watch it go from 100 to 70 in what I think is a short time, is somewhat depressing...
I'll have to charge the ole 5000mah phone up and carry a couple 20,000mah at this rate... lol.
I've even de-bloated some of the system Apps in background... I may treat it to another wipe/reset and test it with barely any load and see what happens...
Cheers, Lister

I've had that issue on my Note 5 as well, and apparently I was not alone and it was in fact an issue that was introduced with Android 10. Turning off VoLTE did work for me, but that of course entailed a significantly worse call quality. I ended up switching to a different carrier and the problem went away. Sucks to see that the issue can still arise on current handsets.

I had a note 5 too , I can't remember if it did it or not, but I switched to a Moto g7 power and it did it on there too . I think your right about the network. I'm on 3 in the UK and never thought of the network being at fault , cheers for that

Under GNU General Public License (GPL) it is mandatory to release a device's kernel source code if it is a modified version of the Linux kernel.

I know that they legally have to. But which user will sue them if they don't is what I'm saying.

Battery Lifetime

Good Morning folks,
as some of you are already proud owners of a LG2x, I would like to know how the battery lifetime really is. Are you guys satisfied? How intensive are you using your device?
It would be nice, if you can describe what you are running, like wifi, gps and so on... pretty sure you know what to write to give me and the others a clear view on the battery lifetime ;-)
cheers,
Manuel
Yesterday I got the phone.
On very very very hard use it took me about 7 hours for the phone to be 0%. That is kinda good in my eyes.
Today I'm doing normal use, to see how the battery goes.
I withnised 100% tot around 60% went kinda fast, but from 60% till 0% took a while
So stay tuned for the today test.
I got the phone the day before yesterday started charging it. Then in the afternoon it was fully charged and i started to play around with it. It did good but then today i had it fully charged overnight and now - at around 15:00 it dropped below 15%! I hadn't been using it for other than a few calls, a few texts and less than 10 minutes fooling around.
Something is up - i don't know what, but the battery info shows most battery usage was drained due to cell standby and mobile standby...
I don't know what really caused this Other than that i love this phone, i just hope i find the reason for this insane drain soon - i tried rebooting and even installed advanced task killer

Hello, I cant really help much on the battery issue other than to say give it a few more cycles before getting too upset.
The last new battery I had in my iPhone took a week to really settle down.
I would uninstall advanced task killer as I believe it has issues with froyo and is not really needed.
Ok thanks - i think i will then
had the phone 2 days now, and feel like the battery drains fairly fast, had a BB before this and im not used to having to charge everyday. Will se how it goes the next couple of days.
Ok, it seems a lot of people already got their device. Is there someone who could try to unload (by heavy use or something else) and reload the battery again and again to get a feeling of the behavior after some loads?
Thanks!
Update: I have an update from a German guy for you who claims to found out that the service "nvrm_daemon" is the one which consumes the most power. Anyone an idea what it is? The "nv" in the name sounds like nvidia...

Yes, it seems related to Tegra.
I googled and found this little quote about the offending service on a site dealing with the Toshiba AC100 that also use the Tegra 2 chipset:
it makes suspend, sound and cpu frequency scaling work

48 hours.
Way better than the Nexus One. Not much more I can say.
Most importantly, not much more I will say on battery. It's too subjective and circumstance specific.

I should be clear - I do not mean +48 hours battery, I mean I have used the phone for only 48 hours... This includes charging.
But still, much better than my Nexus One. At the same time with the same apps and usage I have 40% and on my Nexus I would have 15%.
We all still need some days (~1 week) for the battery to settle.

Ok i'm doing a real-life test atm after a few charging cycles.
What did I do/ have I on?
Have I on: Everything (gps, data, wifi (if possible),...)
What did I do: Some gaming, few youtube movies, few short calls, watching mails, some internet browsing, send a few texts.
I'm using the app : Juicedefender in combination with ultimatejuice (this prolonged my battery 2.14x!!!
How long? : Atm i'm using my cell (from full charge) for 44 hours and I still have 39% left! This means that i could get it to run for 3 days on 1 charge!
Note: this is after doing a few cycles, out-of-the-box use gets you the day around!

Performance and Battery in JB.

I was wondering. I looked everywhere and cannot find exact confirmation or Review. The 4.1.2 update is coming soon for the Optimus 4X and I read on 2-3 blogs that it'll apparently improve battery life. Is that true? Has anyone tried that themselves? From what I observe on my 4X that there are a couple of apps running in the system sucking up the battery. Will the future update fix this to extend its life? Sorry if this question was asked before and/or I've made a double post.
Sent from LG-P880
I'm an average user... Not much into games but I message a lot and play on YouTube use wifi and phone regularly... This is much improved for me over 10x
One day+?! Holy-- yeah that's surely an improvement to what I'm experiencing now. Is the phone running smoother as these blogs say? Any crashes/freezes or its a perfect charm. I'd just want to know what to expect...
Also, I've noticed that my phone tends to warm up from... almost everything. Is it still happening?
Edit: Sorry about this post... I rushed on asking this question without realizing that there's a Q&A section.. is there anyway to move the post? If not then I'll delete it.

mine (first half is @ night i was checking if my phone was in deep sleep or not). I disabled many services that i dont use (MLT, lg smart, talk etc )
Disabled them as in uninstalled them? And wow.. yeah that's surely a lot better than now. Better then my last phone.
Sent from my LG 4X.
My battery is still the same as that in v10f. I get about 3.5h of screen on time( mainly web browsing ) to reach 10%
How is the overall performance?

Battery life on ics is still better. Anyway, jb is leak version only

Depends on what you think is important. My phone is my "phone". I expect it to be as such. I can't imagine Web browsing for 3+ hours on my device. My Dell mini is better suited for that task and has better then 3+ hrs battery life. But maybe if your a gamer or a Facebook addict or Web browser cowboy, you find like people that use their device in the same manner as yourself and then compare notes.
Because of my job I'm often on the go and don't have the opportunity to recharge my device at leisure. It's nice to know it can be used as a phone all day and I'll still be able to call my wife at the end of that day. There if definitely improved battery in 20x after a few services are disabled and be r uninstalled. Prior to leaked JB my device required recharge after i got home. This is how I use my device and the condition under what I use it. These are my results but your milage may vary.
Yes the interface experience for me feels silky smooth. No lag, and no crashes or FCs. Best device I've owned to date.

its not specificly the browsing he did that makes the post usefull unlike some people posting battery charts its the fact that he posts screen on time rather then the chart.
the full charts are useless as you cannot see how often the phone was actualy used.
if i link you 2 charts 1 with slow battery drain in standby and no apps used at all (no screen on time) lasting 2 days exactly and 1 with near no battery in standby and 4 hours app use.
they both look the same if you post a battery chart but only the second one shows the potential of the battery life.
the first just shows the phone needed to be charged after 2 days the second showed the phone is capable of lasting 2 days with near no idle battery drain and gives a verry descent 4 hours screen on time.
a phone that is configured correctly and had good 3g/wifi signal and has 3g/wifi managed correctly, has no apps with adds and no apps that drain battery wil berely use any juice in standby leaving almost all the juice for screen on time.
a badlymanaged phone might drain up to 10% an hour because of adds and poort wifi/3g management/signal.
so in a perfect world (which we should aim for) only screen on/inapp time is important as there should be no other power hoggers.

Are you satisfied with performance on your Nexus 6?

So I was wandering if you're happy with your phones as of right now. I've always dreamed of having a stock Nexus device, and finally I god mine 1 year ago, and honestly lately I've been a little disappointed. I'm running stock android, no root, it's completely untouched. I've tried some ROMs like PureNexus, but I switched back to stock. Lately I found this phone extremely laggy in random situations, even when not performing heavy tasks. Also the phone gets EXTREMELY hot extremely easily, and when it's hot it lags even more to the point it's barely usable. When it is charging it becomes soooo sooooo slow and super hot, I'm almost forced to stop using it. Am I the only one experiencing these issues? Are you disappointed with your phone too?
you do realize that by running stock, you are stuck with the stock cpu setup? and thats where big differences come from, how you set up your cpu. with the way i have my cpu set up, my n6 is never choppy nor even slughtly slow.. never. my n6 is the beast that everyone wants.

All devices are a little different... I'm running N preview 3... And I'm completely satisfied, runs amazing for a two year old device.
Here is the main schedule of how I use my device:
In the morning, I charge up to around 80-90%. The device is off. By the end of the day, it's normally at around 30-40%. I don't game, and don't use my phone for much other than texting, social media, and the occasional web browsing/googling.
Mine does get warm at times and hot while charging, but that's expected of any electronic device. Try a charger with a lower wattage.
All the lagginess that I've run into always occurs with extended periods of use. Try shutting the phone off at night and not leaving it on charge all night. Also, a complete internal storage wipe won't do any harm .
An amazing app to help performance, battery life, and overheating is Greenify. It is literally the only app that I use root access for (I would totally root just to use this app). I kinda use it a bit obsessively, manually hibernating every time I leave an app, even though I have auto-hibernation enabled. Know which apps are memory hogs. Make sure to keep your eye on them (snapchat, facebook, etc.).
Hope I helped, may have gone a bit overboard on answering this.
Cheers!

no, no comprising battery. but im more after performance, since i get 5h sot no matter what. i use the ondemand governor(98 up threshold and 15000 sampling rate) with the deadline scheduler. everything else that i do isnt as important than setting my governor/scheduler. i have it set to hand around the lower cpu when not doing much, then jumping to top cpu speed as soon as its needed.

So if I install cyanogenmod 13 could you help me set the way you did? I mean just tell me in which menu I should go and what I should modify. It would be greatly appreciated! I usually get 3h of screentime, you get 2 hours more, that's amazing. Also could you tell me what kernel should I use with cyanogenmod 13?
I'm just shaking my head. I've never had these problems. Lagginess?? Nope. I get pretty good battery life and I've really only used 3 ROMs; Chroma, Purte Nexus and now the setup in my signature. for the last few months

I can only speak for Pure Nexus (Especially the new build on 6/21), but it smokes the stock ROM from Google. Very smooth scrolling, fluid animations, fast app opening....It's just better imho.
Gotta remember, this phone is 1.5 years old...While it was spec heavy when it came out, time is catching up with it

There is no best.. That's why no one is answering g you.. Its user dependent we all use them differently
The phone is great at full battery. Anything above 40 percent. Under that... Not as good. Speakers crackle, CPU cores shut down and no matter what I do I can't override it. It gets super bad at about 20 percent where I have to raise the clock speed to 1.7 ghz from the 1 GHz I run normally since it is a stuttery mess that slow on 2 cores. So, for me the battery saving features make the battery life worse. Not to mention battery life is so random. I'll get a day and a half or more one day and the next not even get 12 hours. Doing very similar things, very similar screen on time of about 3 hours. The highest screen on time I got was 4 or 5 hours with pure nexus, but I'm on cyanogemod now and it doesn't last more than about 3 and a half often.

The highest screen on time I got was 4 or 5 hours with pure nexus, but I'm on cyanogemod now and it doesn't last more than about 3 and a half often.

sounds like its an issue with your set up? why the heck would you buy a nexys 6 only to lower its performance to a dual core? i use my n6 every day to its max. i set up my cpu to work like a beast! but, no matter what, i ALWAYS see at the very least 5 hours sot. anyways, what it sounds like is that you need to learn to set up your device a bit better, like screen brightness.. do you realize that the screen uses more battery than any other part of the phone? i keep my brightness at about 5%. and for every 30% i raise it, i lose 1 hour sot. anyways, theres just so much other stuff to try out.

No I don't put it at dual core. It's just that at 20% or less battery the phone shuts 2 cores off.

and to be fair.... A dual core Nexus 6 still smokes the ancient droid RAZR m I had before this.

ahh, sorry.. i thought you weakened it yourself, my bad. it just lowers the cpu speed to 19xxmhz. at 40%, it gets lowered to 22xxmhz. but ill be honest, its a rare day when my phone goes under 50%, usually its on thd charger by that time.

I've learned that pretty much anything aosp based is pretty much the winner in terms of performance and stability and just overall because there's less stuff going on... Chroma or Pure Nexus is the heaviest I would go.
And use Greenify! I explained it in my earlier response...
Franco kernel was pretty sick when I used it with Chroma and I got awesome battery life with practically stock settings. I think the only thing I did was have the cpu underclock at 25%... But I rarely ever got to below 40%...
And there's always battery saving mode!
I always get decent performance no matter what I'm doing because the N6 is such a beast

I don't do anything special. I usually use the kernel with the stock settings that comes with whichever ROM I'm on. I remove bloat and apps I don't use. When I was running stock/rooted, I'd use a custom kernel but again with the default settings
You try ondemand on b14ckb1rd kernel ......
4h+ screen on and very good performance!

So I really like the performance of this phone. It's fast and good, and the camera is adequate... Until things go south and I want to smash it against a wall. Mostly the problems start when battery drops under 40%. While I know cores get disabled, and performance gets limited, it's just horrible. From what I understand flashing a custom rom will make things more manageable? I've flashed ROMs in the past and had positive experiences with CM. Will Cm13 do the job?

is about 3 hours of usage normal on the note 8?

I got this note 8 the other day off of letgo for a pretty sweet deal for $400. Its in pretty good condition performs well with the normal Samsung lag you get with every samsung phone no matter what people say samsung phones will always lag. Lol but the 3 hours of usage just feels like this should be yesterdays news. Is it supposed to be this way?
Edit: Okay, I feel really dumb. Lol I was only getting 3 around 3 and a half hours of usage with high performance on. Now that I got the mid power saving on it's doing way better. I'm sitting at 60% and my SOT is 2 hours and 15 min. Now I know my battery isnt messed up. Sorry guys. I should have known you can't get great battery life on high performance. I was scared I got a faulty note 8 from Letgo. Lol

I get around 7hrs total usage (3hrs SOT) on around 20hrs average.

I can easily get around a days usage even with some gaming sessions. Sounds like the battery on your device maybe starting to fail and needs replaced. However I would recommend that you backup all the data on your device boot your device into Recovery Mode, wipe the cache partition and perform a hard factory reset.
I really hate having to do that. Everyone I know who goes and gets there battery replaced or whatever repairs done comes back with more problems before. Lol but I guess I could take the risk. It was only $400. Lol oh I cant back up everything. Just I can backup some things. I haven't rooted yet. But maybe I will in the future. I kinda feel like it doesnt need the root.
Unrooted people can get up to 10h of sot or 8-9 days of standby.
Use samsung system app disaber ( or something like that from google play ) . app does what it says, disable system apps without deleting them using administrator privileges. It has button to disable all "bloatware" but after that u wont be able to use animated wallpaper etc. So basicly battery eating stuff.
Disable samsung cloud, samsung pay, secured, samsung health and some other stuff u dont really use. Turn on battery saving mode in order to lower processor's power by 20% and set black colours. Make sure u dont have any trash working in background like fb, mess, wazupp etc. Make sure u delete them since samsung doesnt support killing apps in background completly. Just while u turn off ur screen. U can always use lucky patcher and disable permission to work all the time in background. It will prevent app from turning itself on after force closing it or dozing it. Fb crash after doing that . After all of that, u should get around 9-10h of sot on browser or phone, no games or videos ( pornhub too )
Rooted user? kernel auditur wont do much on battery saving mode. Best battery 4 me was on lightrom. Around 12-13h of sot. Same proccesses like 4 unrooted people but here u can use amplify to kill everything with google play and google play services. On black background ( aka nightmode supported in few browser ) u can get up to 12h of sot with browser or if u care ONLY about standby mode. My device was eatting about 7% of battery per 24h on ironman rom. But nougat, oreo has more stuff and eat more battery. Even if u install it , U wont be able to use it. Samsung lock older roms if they dont run newest kernel so right after first reboot with that rom = binaries lock. If u want ironman rom, some1 might need to update kernel source and make it working on nougat.
My opinnion only. Might not agree with it or no, just dont be **** to me cuz I said something plz
I get 8 hours of SOT, always use high performance mode and have zero lag.
Have you done a hard reset and set up as new?

My advice would be to research the repair specialist before taking your device to them for any repairs. Also ask them if they will provide a guarantee for the repairs performed on your device.

Well I called CellPhone Repair. They told me it would be about 80 bucks to replace the battery which comes with a year warranty. I feel like I should wait for the note 10 to release then buy the note 9.
Edit: I'll just go with it and hope it's the battery and not the phone. Had a bad experience back with the note 1 it would go from 100% to 0% in 2 hours no matter what you did whether the screen was off or not. I bought a new battery for it and it was the same issue. Lol
This just makes me wanna sell the note 4 for $400 and buy the note 9.
How do I use this? Everytime i turn it on and optimize all the apps. Whenever I go back into it they are back off again. If I can figure out how to keep it on It just might actually fix my problem.
I fixed my phone! So I booted into safe mode today just to see if it was gonna have problems like it was. Turns out it was actually not draining nowhere near as bad. So that tells me it was a third party app. I think someone on here told me to check that too sorry I have A.D.D. but thanks to the one who told me. Turns out it was Facebook and messenger. So I replaced them with the lite versions. Normally at around an hour and a half to an hour and 45 min I'm at 50% so this tells me it wasn't the battery after all!
So her is my end results. I doubled my battery life only by replacing Facebook and messenger with the lite versions. Now I will not be buying the note 9 in September. Lol

ROG Battery life

Hi guys just bought the ROG phone 2 a week ago, just would like to know about the Battery life? I've done all the settings recommended by the battery optimization module suchs screen brightness and screen timeout etc. I also turned off my GPS but I noticed after sleeping for 9hours or so after leaving my phone idle the battery which was initially 90% dropped to 83%. Is that normal? Cause I've seen youtube claim u can game for 3 hours and the battery will only drop by 5%. Or is that only when u turn on xmode? Also I do leave my mobile data turned on but is that enough to drain the battery to this extend?

Good word! :exposition
Can't shed any light on your query, but can add, if have data/reception switched on, it will consume more or less depending on your signal strength as it searches for the strongest source. So it'll vary user to user.
If not informative... Oh well, at least, I had some input lol

Thanks any input is better than none at all. So it's relatively normal that my battery drains 8 - 10 percent when idle? It's because of the signal strength? It doesn't really bother me much but I would just like to make sure that's it's within the norm and not faulty battery or something

Doubt its a faulty battery. And no doubt there are more factors involved than only signal strength, but yeah, signal strength does play a part in it. It might not make too much difference while your at home ie in one place, but you're on the move as the phone goes in and out of stronger or weaker signal areas, the phone has to keep scanning for the best possible connection, which consumes more battery.
I haven't noticed a great deal of difference running latest A10 update (2004.60) compared to A9, but others favour A9 for better battery. Which version are you on? Some say latest A10 is on par with A9, others disagree. Each to their own!
Personally I don't monitor it religiously, so not sure what my percentage drop per hour or over a given time frame is, so I can't advise you on that.
Battery for me lasts about 2 days with some to spare and a fair amount of usage. I only play Bike Race, I'm not a hardcore gamer. That's good enough for me and similar to what it was on A9. Not too sure of screen on time
Edit: actually, just noticed my battery is at 11 percent, the screenshot should give you a fair idea of what to expect... Obviously, I varies on apps installed /in use too. There's probably more factors, not too sure

Thanks it does clear up some things and also I'm on A9 but u've mentioned battery lasts for 2days? Is your mobile data turned on? Frankly I've noticed my battery does tend to drop faster when mobile data is turned on so it might be as u've mentioned about mobile data and the signal strength. Although I don't really get out much since the entirety of the outside world looks straight outta fallout 4. But find it hard to believe the phone just drop 5 percent of battery after 3 hours of intensive gaming( according to youtube anyway ) considering it drops way below that point even when idle.
Yes, the signal strength from your mobile network operator does affect the battery consumption.. I've noticed this when I am at remote areas.. It's plausible for the 5% drop in battery during gaming if you have turned on the airplane mode..
I have been using the ROGPHONE 2 since January 2020. Only way the battery is draining faster than it should are 2 reasons.
1st is there is a defect.
2nd is weak cellular signal.

Hopefully not the first point but the second makes sense since I am living in quite the rural area currently. May need to check back the signal strength once I'm back in the city.

Your issue is most likely one (or more) of a few things:
If you're on Android 10, which in my experience has battery drain and heating issues (that's why I downgraded to Android 9)
You have some frequent wakelocks that are keeping the phone awake and draining your battery (if you have root, or don't mind rooting, flash Kirisakura kernel and install EX Kernel Manager to see the top wakelocks)
You have apps in the background that are auto-starting and taking up network bandwidth, even when your phone is idle (check under Settings > Battery > PowerMaster > Auto-start manager and disable the apps which you don't rely on for constant notifications)
Hope that helps you.

Only phone i have used before and doesn't seem to drain because of weak cellular signal is the Huawei P30 Pro. Then my current ROGPHONE 2... Owh wait you want to see weak cellular signal kill a phone really fast? Get a Note 10+.... Gets killed in 3 hours. Lmao.
