So I used this as my backup phone, and recently I can't get it working. I have android 2.3.4 and system 5.7.906.XR862. Verizon.en.us
I tried to sign in to google account to use playstore but it doesn't work. How can I get a new version of android on to this so I can use it for emergencies?

After updating to 2.2, I found that I can no longer update or load certain apps from the Android market on my AT&T Captivate. It appears that the phone is seen by the market as an AT&T phone and that certain apps will not download.
I read in a post that using Market Access to change the code to Verizon would do the trick but am not able to figure how to do that.
I also installed Market enabler but that does not work, or I have done something wrong.
I have tried setting the phone to download from unknown sources and now the new Amazon Appstore works but has done nothing for the Android market.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Recently bought my wife a droid on Ebay, it is not rooted and functions fine with 1 exception it will not update to current software
Firmware 2.0
Kernel 2.6.29
Build # ESD20
My wife would like to down load certain apps but she is stuck with Android MArket and they are only offered on Google Playstore, any way I can force an update or install it myself? When I check the phone says it is up to date, My sone has a droid as well and it is current.

You need android 2.2 or above to use the playstore. The Droid has gotten officially updates up to 2.2.3, so I'm surprised it says your phone is up to date. If you are not able to get the OTA, you can download the update (2.2.3) from here: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/11/21/download-frk76-update-for-the-original-motorola-droid/ or another option is to install a custom rom.
It Does Not Appear in 2.2.3 Either
I just got a Motorola Droid to play with. After resetting and updating it, I was expecting to find a notification for the Play Store, but there wasn't any. I looked through the Google Market on the phone to see if the Play Store was in the Market, but it wasn't.
I downloaded the update and renamed it update.zip booted to recovery did a factory and cache wipe then selected install update.zip from sd card but it failed to open no such file, so i rebooted used astro file manager and I see it plain as day, what am i doing wrong
I have not booted my GT1970P in over two years. It did boot up and looks the same. However, I am unable to use Maps (no maps load) or Playstore (no button for My Apps). My Google password has changed since I last booted, but don't see where to update account password, only to delete account. The SIM is an old expired SIM as I am only interested in using the phone as a small tablet. I still have a rooted stock ROM, Android 2.3.6. CoCore P1.0 kernel. I was going to delete account and re-add as a last resort. Any suggestions?
You should probably think about updating to 4.1 (Leggera is great). Gingerbread is ancient and probably won't run most apps.
You could try to find APKs compatible with 2.3 for Play Services and the Play Store, see if you can change the password. If you still can't, you'll probably need to remove the account
Has anyone worked out how to do this? Running stock android 9, pop 3 account. I know I should have been using k9 mail which I used to use.
I want to either get them onto my PC or an asus phone.
Thanks for any help.
With root, data backup is possible via NeoBackup, however the state of being logged in after restoration doesn't work with all apps.
Are you asking how to get the apk ?
You can try looking for it in apkmirror (any user can share the apps over there) or better extract it from the official firmware using Xperifirm.
My wife recently asked if I could get her Nook up and running again. I updated it to 2.2.1 and got the device running properly again. When I went to add her Google account though it won't work. It appears that the login page is invalid. Some digging online it sounds like Google stopped supporting that version of Android. Is there any way to update the Google apps or spoof the android version to allow it to login? She just wants to be able to use the Google Books app and the library built up there.

Unlikely. The typical means for signature spoofing start with KitKat and the stock OS is Jellybean. Also you would need to root to try anything like that.
I've used microG to do what you suggest on a Nook Tablet but that was with an updated custom ROM and root.
