As the title of this thread already gives it away, I'm asking about your personal and greatly appreciated offtopic opinion regarding the more than controversial upcoming World Cup this coming winter 2022.
Generally asking, are you for or against it?
Plus, be so kind to list all the Pros and Cons, so there can be a constructive exchange of POV's.
It is definitely ok to express all kinds of takes, views, opinions and thoughts about the teams itself, their squad, their realistic chances, etc etc etc..
I don't think I have to say it, but pls stay civil and coherent in the way you express yourself.
Happy posting world of XDA,
Cheers
I'm a great supporter of football but I haven't decided yet if I'm going to boycott (or ignore) this world championship. The reasons are obvious in my opinion but obviously also political and therefore not suitable even to be posted in an XDA thread. Meanwhile, I question all event that are "organised" by corrupt associations like FIFA, IOC, UEFA, FIA (this list is expendable) etc.
I definitely hoped that our German association, the DFB, had have the courage to say, we don't go to Qatar but money rules the sports world and environment as much as sexual harrassment and abuse or dopping. Maybe the latter get slightly better since two countries have been banned by some (and I don't understand why not by all) organisations.
Sports is great! Sports is important! But not how it's celebrated by the top level officials of many organisations.
Long time since I do not support business sports, and even less that México never wins anything...

Hi to All,
I am just wondering if anybody would be interested in joining a real event where we could meet somewhere in europe (Geneva? quite central and well served by cheap low-fare flights).
We could meet for one weekend, for example, and the meeting could be focused to BXD: Blackstone Xda Developers!
the entrance ticket is quite obvious: the touch HD with a non-official ROM!
...ad maybe somebody could develop some nice apps for BT identification?
I post this thread here because i think it should be a targeted event, not a general public happening. I wonder if we could also get some support from HTC or some local media, for example to rent a meeting place. Maybe we could even make a few contests and share some acknowledgements, but these are just few ideas.
...Please post your opinions!
EDIT: for your information, the poll is "in clear" e.g clicking on the numbers you can see individual names...of course, it is not binding!
...reserved for future use...
Sounds good,
But XDA is going down words...
So don't think I'm in the mood to meet some haters here....
Still a good idea.

Hi Xmoo,
we all have different opinions, i would be surprised if intelligent people would not understand each other point. I am not a moderator, but i didn't see any heavy personal offense - i know that some moderators are really very keen on that...

Well it's nothign personal.
I'm talking bout the no share issue.
I'm talking bout the android issue.
I'm talking bout the issue that many rom coockers are planning to leave.
One of my best friends and a long time member of XDA is planning to leave.
He is also a moderator... so.....
But on topic.
I would wanna go tho.
Geneva sounds good. So we can also see the car show
i like the idea, and had you suggested it a few years back then it would probably have been a big hit, but id like to echo the words above, some moderators have serious issues on here, the site is beginning to lose its self and its consistancy the admins dont appear to take any notice and let their mods run riot, even members seem to demand everything and give nothing,
Ive stopped my donations for my own reasons, i doubt i will continue unless things improve, at the mo id would rather support the individual programer than the whole community which is shame.
Still its a nice idea, but poor timing im afraid.

Off Topic: XDA is a container, as well as a real-life event. We are all civilized persons, and i am sure we could format different opinions into a real and pacific confrontations.
On topic: unfortunately, during the car show you cannot find lodging in the radius of 50 km....and becomes quite expensive.
I don't want to make any advertisement, but check for prices on www.easyjet.com from your place to Geneva and you'll realize it is one of the cheapest places to reach in Europe! Maybe London or Amsterdam are alternatives...

It is becoming quite a religious thing. To avoid what religions have been doing in the past, maybe an ecumenic event could help?
On my side, i moderate my signature - you are both right in saying that increasing the temperature doesn't help ourselves.

There may be issues right now, with many people disillusioned, but I like pzucchel's style in bringing forward something so positive to the table. That's only to be commended and can only help to recover the spirit that is seen to be lost! Good on ya!
Count me in and it's 100% if it is London
Nice Idea (creative and constructive) - we need people like you here pzucchel - good man!

Thanks Schooleydoo, i didn't know about it!
First of all, i would like to clarify that this is just a proposal for discussion and reflection. I personally hate "organizers" jumping on top of spontaneous events to get some personal benefits in terms of recognition and reputation, and i can tell you for sure i don't have any of these targets. But there is a large number of nice people here, and people that i respect a lot even if they have opinions different from mines....that i would like to meet in person.
(including Dutty if you really want to spell it out! He is a great cook, nobody should forget that he always shared a big number of his achievements by making cabs that were used by many other roms, freely...it must be just a big misunderstanding...right Dutty?)
...sorry, Back to topic:
Seeing the number of possible attendees after 12 hours of posting already of the order of 50, i would personally argue to restrict it to the blackstone device only, for three reasons:
1. Even if there is a lot to share technically, it could well be that we have never had contacts with people from other devices. and the interest in meeting will become restricted to social groups "per device".
2. It should be, in my opinion, mainly a social event. Technical matters can be easily discussed on the forum, in fact. And to be a useful social event we would need to be less than 100 or so, to be able to meet each other and say at least 2 words in 48 hours to people that we don't know a lot, but that we could know during our forum activity!
3. Parallel sessions is, in my opinion, a mistake. if we have a single session we could easily broadcast it on internet, and allow our asian and australian and american friends (those without CDMA support! ) to be part of the event. We are ONE community, don't forget! i would love to meet our viet friends also! but we could have webcam attendants, no?
In my opinion, the best number of attendes should be below 120. Of course it should be an OPEN event (Yes we share! ) , but we should try to target a manageable number, in terms of logistics and social aspects. Any other comments or opinions?
I alread imagine meeting a 15 year old guy with the badge "Schooleydoo"...
By the way: did anybody notice that apparently techno geeks are all males? or this is a demonstration of biological superiority or somebody is cheating...
(this to attract more attendees!!! )
hey.. of course i will take my girlfriend (n73me) with me to this event/party/meeting.. its not a wordcamp, its an xdacamp and sure a great idea and happening. i agree your words full!
I wanted to start a thread of a subject I know nothing about. However, I am very interested in learning Marx's language within his writing. Capital is a great novel by Marx. However, the book is written with discussion in mind. I would like to know what you know about Marxism and how you agree and disagree...
marxism mean that all means of production is controlled directly by the government
everybody make the same salary
pro
no poor people equal opportunities for everybody no matter the status of parents
con
no way for risk takers and people with bright ideas and people who compete
to excel and make better products and cheaper prices and dreams for those not there
yet to strive to gain what the successfully gained
often see americans abuse these terms along with socialism which pretty much is the same deal
about countries with higher tax's more welfare and more strict gun laws then usa
one can feel what one like about those 3 things but it don't as I see it equal socialism
I feel Marxism is the most wrongly followed belief in the world. For any definition you can refer to wiki.
Marxism takes away all incentive to excel in any area.

One word: Utopia.
Cheers
^^^wrong. that would be the end of human progress.
It died a few years ago.
Marxism has a noble aim but - as already pointed out - is a disaster in practice.
We will have general elections next weekend. People are bored of the same platitudinous speeches of politicians. The campaign is made of scandals. There is no credibility. No values. No one believes, no one knows, the political philosophies of the parties. Not even them, I think. Abstention will be high.
Marx and Engels had a lot of innovative ideas and Marxism in its pure form is probably as close to a perfect society as humanly possible. It has never been implemented anywhere in the world.
It is debateable if Marxism would lead to stagnation of thought and progress. No way to know for sure, unless we get a real life example. I personally don't agree with that conclusion.
Communism is a perverted version of it that lets a small number of people on top of society enjoy anything they want and have a free hand with power and control while the common people live in poverty.
Capitalism and Communism have more in common than you know...
Now im not starting a fight of the race. But im mexican so i guess this law affects me. Now the United States of America is full of every race imaginable. So in my opinion this law is harsh and unneccesary. WHats your opinion on the law?

Such opinion makes me kind of afraid of you Llama I don't know how old are you I don't realy want to know but in history books you might've noticed that this country was founded mostly by "Illegal" inmigrants...unless you are a Native Indian...your family did the same thing too...come to this country illegaly to make a better life so people like you could enjoy of such freedoms as expresing yourself and gettinga better education. I really hope you educate yourself Llama before just "repeating" what people say instead of forming your personal opinion on this subject.
Plus, you just don't really know who's behind every screen. Some of your "friends" might be inmigrants

Hello everyone,
my name is Henri and I want you to gift me five thousand three hundred and eighty-nine dollars.
5437$ or about 4800€. (Rates May 13,2015 GMT)
If you have not clicked away yet, let me explain:
I live in Berlin, Germany and I am 21 years old.
When I was about 16 years old I was moderate to severe depressed. Thought about killing myself, cried myself to sleep et cetera. I don't want to go into detail with this, because you have all heard those heartbreaking stories before.
Anyway, I got over it. I did not go into therapy. Instead I decided to fix the problems which depressed me. Those were mostly that I did not have a social life at all and had a good amount of social anxiety.
I wasn't able to ask an elderly woman for the time on the streets, started sweating when people I didn't know talked to me in school and so on.
And obviously, I didn't have any female contact besides my mother and sister.
In 2011 I had a breakdown and decided that I had to change or I would eventually kill myself in a weaker moment.
I went out to fix my social life and become happy. And I succeeded.
Long story short: I pushed myself into social interactions, pushed myself to talk to girls. On this journey I found awesome friends, two especially which could not be closer to me. One of them had the same goals as I, wanted to overcome all social borders there are.
I also met a lot of great girls, eventually other guys asked me for advice.
I was the happiest person I knew.
This is when I and and the friend mentioned above decided that we could actually teach other guys to get to where we are.
We are currently building a German website where we want to give advice for young guys on talking to girls, fitness, having great sex, fashion, hygiene, motivation, discipline, managing happy relationships and ironically living a happy life.
Ironically, because right now I am depressed as f**k again. This is because I don't have money, my parents don't have enough to support me. I got a job, but I literally started crying there because I felt so miserable. At home I feel miserable because I have no money. I am working in sales without base salary.
My expenses are about 600€ a month. In Germany, parents get some money for their „childs“ as long as they study, so I get close to 200€ a month from them. 400€ left.
My options right now are :
1) „Manning up“ and work and hope that therapy fixes this.
2) Getting student loans and go to university in a field with which I will be able to pay back the roughly 20.000€ in loans, just so that I do not have to work right now and can put my energy into the website.
3) Moving back into my parent's place on the other side of the country and everything on hold. They live in small village, so I won't be able to meet and advice people, talk to girls, network etc.
I would give up everything I built here.
Yesterday I decided to give another idea a shot. The idea you are reading right now.
I figured if I could get 4800 people to give me 1€ each, I could live one year without stress.
12 months times 400€ is 4800€.
I am convinced that my website and other projects will make enough money for me after this year.
If not, and this is a very small if, I will be where I am right now again, hopefully with more valuable lessons learned, happy and therefore able to work a normal job if I have to.
You see, I am basically asking you for time. I realize that 1$/1€ isn't much, but if you gave it to everyone you'd be dead broke. I do not know how I can convince you that I deserve this money more than anyone else, but I know that all I need right now is this money to handle this situation and put all my energy into the website and hopefully helping others.
I am asking you to gift me your next coffee, ice cream cone or burger.
If just 1% of the people reading this decides to help me out with one dollar, I have to show this to 543,700 people.
This is why I actually looked up the biggest online communities and I am posting this to every single one that can somehow relate to my situation or the subjects of our site. Some just seem to have cool people in them.
As you will see, there isn't any content up yet. We already have a lot but want to publish about ten good articles for the start. And yes, this is a working-title
If this post gets removed because it violated any specific rule I understand that and want you to know that it wasn't on purpose. I also tried to post into Off-Topic or similar.
If you have any questions, I will answer them as soon as I can.
Please don't give us advice on the design or that wordpress „is bad“. I appreciate it, but I want to answer questions about the content, our goals and whatnot instead of discussing webdesign. So far we have been working on content only.
The site as it stands is just a vehicle for the donate page, since sites like „fundme“ take 30cents per donation plus fees.
Again, all I am asking for is 1$ to solve all my problems for one year.
Thank you for your time.

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony Hrdlicka and I'm from the U.S. I was born in Chicago, Illinois, however I'm currently residing in Hot Springs, Arkansas and I was in the U.S. Army for 2 and a half years learning Field Artillery Communications (my MOS specifically was 13D, Field Artillery Automated Tactical Data System Specialist, however I can't go into the specifics of my job or what I did specifically in the army as that would go against the protocols that the U.S. Army put in place even though I'm now a retired veteran). I am a passion and dedicated gamer at heart and I have love for technology (even if I have dedication for what the government considers illegal in their eyes) beyond a lot of others. I'm 27 years old right now and I was born June 25, 1995. Despite being a veteran, I regret ever having been in the military and I regret to say that even though it's true. During those two and a half years, I was treated like complete ... and my chain of command had absolutely no respect for me whatsoever or my feelings, so I have negative feelings regarding government whatsoever and I've begun to have a different outlook regarding the governments that are currently in control of us. I believe that many things that we have to pay for should in our reality actually be free, however our systems in control are money hungry and power hungry beyond our limitations. For example, does anyone remember the time when Xbox Live had silver status and you could still play Multiplayer online with your friends free of charge? Well, now you have to pay for Xbox Live Gold to even play online multiplayer games, which is ridiculous in my opinion. I am now dedicating majority of my time and research to finding ways to make some of the things we have to pay for free for the people that it should be free for, meaning all of the citizens across all nations and countries (even if the government and law enforcement doesn't like it, but ... what they say and how they treat the people they're supposed to help and put above themselves), especially for those of us that can't afford to waste money on things since our cost of living has begun to become absurdly overpriced and making it difficult for us to keep a roof over our heads (family's, friend's, and even just ours alone). If anyone needs help at any point in time regarding electronics and electronic tampering, please feel free to message me or even ask me any questions if anyone needs help and I'll gladly be of service any day of the year, 24/7.

@Juggaloz6859 We'd prefer if you provide your support publicly on XDA instead of a secret and private support by private message. This is the only way that information is shared and the whole community benefits. We'd appreciate if you're able to follow XDA's stance. Thanks for your cooperation.
Second, I removed the inappropriate language from your post that you used at two occasions. XDA is a website for users of all ages! I guess that already says it all but nevertheless I suggest that you review the XDA Forum Rules, to which you agreed to adhere when you registered on this private website minutes ago, and currently the best might be to initially focus on rules no. 2, no. 6 and no. 13. Thanks very much for your cooperation.
