Broken Black Screen - Can I recover my data? - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

Hi to all Mi8 and Xiaomi users,
I own a Mi8 Pro for the last 4-5 years and today I accidentally dropped it screen down... and puff black screen!
The phone appears to still be alive, but the only signs of life are the two lines of light at the top of the screen.
I have already ordered a replacement Mi8 Pro (loved the model), but was just wondering if there is a way to retrieve my data from the broken one.
The problems I have:
1) Linking the phone to a computer doesn't work. I recall having to change the mode to "Transfer data" before so I assume that's the problem.
2) Looking online, I realised that I need to enable "USB Debugging" to use any of the available software for data recovery. Yet, as I can't navigate due to the black screen I can't enable it.
3) The other option that I'm reading is to enable "USB Debugging" through adb. Tried to put the phone into "Recovery Mode" by pressing Power + Volume Up button, but I'm not sure when to stop pressing as I can't see the logo due to the black screen, and the PC doesn't seem to find the device when I search for it using "./adb devices" in the PowerShell.
After certain idle time, the phone is detected as MTP by the computer but not by the adb or Wondershare Dr.Fone for example.
Can anyone help please?
A step by step guide would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Display broken...need to turn on USB debugging

Just like the title says. I was in a car accident a few days ago and my phone got thrown around and the amoled is cracked. I turned off the option to turn on usb debugging when connected and now I need to find a way to get it turned on so that I can control my phone through the pc. Any ideas?
You'll need to navigate by going with where it is approximately on the screen. Then to verify that it's connected just adb devices if nothing returns try it again. Here are some pics to show you where to press on the screen (red arrows show where).
NOTE: this starts at the settings screen to get there just press menu then the bottom right corner.
Thank you for the screens. I guess I should have mentioned that I'm running CM7, so I might have a little trouble with the first step, adjusting for the extra cm settings and adw settings. Thanks again.
here's the Settings for ADW EX.
hopefully its in the same spot.

Nexus 6 screen & digitizer broke - USB Debugging disabled

Evening folks..
I have a Nexus 6 that fell from pocket and screen cracked to include the digitizer. The screen flicks white light but mostly black screen. I want to turn phone in for repairs but i would like to back up all my data. USB Debugging option is not on. Is there another method to pull the data from the phone without having to use USB Debugging and/or screen touch?
Rooted - with [ROM][N6][6.0.1_r3][MMB29K] Chroma 12/10/2015 - but did not back up my phone
Any ideas?
Sorry for the late reply. i was recently in this same situation.
Heres what i did, you can do the same (assuming you have twrp and a computer with adb drivers)
Hold volume down and power, it should vibrate then let go of the keys.
wait 3 seconds and press the volume down key two times, then press the power button (this will put your phone in recovery)
wait a good 10 seconds then plug your phone to your computer, then using adb commands run "adb devices" make sure it sees your phone, then run "adb pull /sdcard"

Need help getting data out of S6 with broken glass

Hi,
I need some help getting data off my broken Galaxy s6 for ATT (G920A). The screen broke down and does not come back on. To make things worse I do not have the developer options or USB debugging turned on.
I am able to hear all sounds from the phone after its turned on (including volume up and down after hitting the home button a few times since that unlocks the phone to home screen)
When I connect the phone to my pc by using the att cable, found new device shows S6 and an icon appears in 'My computer' on opening the phone folder its empty (I am guessing the phone is going to 'USB charging' option as compared to MTP or Midi)
Really hoping an expert here could give some suggestions if there is any way for me to get my photos and other data out of this device.
Appreciate all the help.
Thanks,
Matt

Recover data from Mi 5 with black screen issue

Hello, suddenly my Mi 5 (64 GB ROM) device turned into a black screen 4 days ago. Trying to recover my important data first, therefore haven't tried wipe options in Recovery mod. Here below is some additional info regarding the device, problem and thngs that have done till now. There are many threads in the web with similar problem, but no any certain solution. Your help will be much appreciated, thanks in advance!
Xiaomi Mi 5
64 GB ROM version
MIUI: V9.5.5.0.NAAMIFA
Bootloader locked, Android 7 stable ROM (I guess global) installed, no any software/hardware modification done
Previous OTA updates were done without clearing data (the best is to clear I know )
MIUI update (I think) have been downloaded automatically into the device via WiFi, but didn't installed it
Dual sim, primary one turned on, other is off in general
2-3 GB free memory, was less some time ago and I have faced android.com stopped running issue, I think related with it, and cleared some files
Black screen issue
When device is running, holding power on/off button takes to menu with airplane mode, silent mode, restart, turn off
Capacitive buttons respond, LED also, when device turned off, battery icon with percantege appears after charger connection
When device is turned on normally, lock screen appears and in about 10 seconds goes black, till now only one movement could be done as far as I tried, sliding up to unlock, buttons appeared but couldn't be pushed. Sliding down top menu, when connected to PC via USB, USB connection notification appeared but couldn't push to go to menu.
Recovery and Fastboot are accessible
The device couldn't be connected in any one of the Mi PC Suite versions, Windows recognizes the device as Mi5, when connected via USB cable
Set alarm works on time even the device is switched off
Mi PC Suite 3.2.1.3111 (English vers.) - R.Flash (in Recovery mode) and after that Flash (in Fastbbot mode) trials (miui_MI5Global_V10.0.1.0.OAAMIFH_5d78eeb0ae_8.0.zip downloaded)
Mi PC Suite 2.3.0.9091 (Chinese vers.) - in Recovery mode trying to flash miui_MI5Global_V10.0.1.0.OAAMIFH_5d78eeb0ae_8.0.zip, 2 different errors (I think, as I don't know Chinese) appeared, one related with ADB maybe (15 seconds ADB already installed)

P30 Pro suddenly shuts down in middle of call, now boot loops.

Hi everyone!
I was on call yesterday working from home (due to Covid-19 effects) when my P30 pro shut down and started doing boot loops. I tried the following remedies so far but to no avail:
1. Drain the battery and try recharging and open - it never goes to recharging screen the moment I plug it, it just goes straight to boot loop.
2. Press volume button up+power - never goes to EMUI screen.
3. Connect to PC via USB and press button down+up - It opens to fastboot&recovery screen but my HiSuite opens saying device is not supported for erecovery and not found.
4. Tried downloading all external apps i can find - Hardly find anything for Huawei and the rest that I do, requires USB debugging mode which I actually can't get into.
I'm currently trying ADB and stuff but it seems it doesn't even find my device. I also don't recall updating any systems (auto or manual) nor installed any new applications yesterday.
I hope someone out there can help me... If not, at least provide suggestions to get my files back... I have recent important files there that I haven't loaded into Cloud yet and it really pains me to realize I'm losing them...
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Mark Sy
