Hi, I use pixel fasher to update the firware of my phone, I also use it to install magisk (my bootloader is unlocked). Everything is going fine except the installation of magisk. Only magik manager was installed.
With my former phone I installed magisk.apk renamed magisk.zip in recovery and then magisk manager, how do you proceed with Pixel 7?, Is it possible to use adb? Or pixel has its own recovery?
Thanks for your answer.
well. with pixel flasher, it should work too that is what I did. Did you patch the init_boot.img in pixel flasher before starts flashing? Else just for rooting, you can refer something like this too https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rooted-my-pixel-7.4505525/
Hi Creezalird, you're right, I just forgot to patch the init_boot.img before flashing, Thank you for your answer.
does your magisk pass safetynet? even with safetynet fix i get "CTS PROFILE MATCH" fail.. how do you fix that? thanks.

2. Flash unSU Script and Magisk in order.

4. Install Phh Superuser from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.phh.superuser&hl=en.
4. Open Magisk Manager ( Update it,if it is asked) and it will ask you for SU permission. Allow it.
6. Go to Settings and Tick " Enable Magisk Hide " and Reboot your phone.
7. Once again Magisk Manager and it will show status of SafetyNet at 3rd row and It should Passed.

I did a clan flash. Booted and let everything settle. The rebooted into TWRP recovery. Mounted system, and deleted (or renamed) the Su files from system/bin and system/xbin. This removes root but I can play Pokémon.

This guide is for keeping root AND passing SafetyNet.
BTW, this method also works on CM13 and OOS.
It didn't mention keeping root in the title.

Not necessarily. Some kernels such as blu_kernel bypass the bootloader check. Try it out.

I'm not sure. I didn't test it.
But you can install the Xposed Framework module through Magisk Manager.
In CM builds you don't need all this you just need this simple app:

I'm gonna assume this doesn't work with CM12.1 right?

But you can try and post the result here that would help others.
I followed the steps in the first post and everything went OK. I'm using oxygen Os nougat 0.9
Thanks for your tutorial.
Does this mean that CM14.1 passes safetynet now? I don't exactly need root but when I tried it a few weeks ago PKMN Go told me that the OS I had was not supported.

Yes, cm 14.1 could pass safety net with this.
This works for sure. But if you're running a secondary ROM using MultiROM the modified boot.img will cause safetynet to indeed fail. I hope they do bring an update soon to fix this though.
Daft question, but i'm unable to use an online banking app, due to being rooted. I know this relates to PokemonGo, but wondering if this could fool the banking app?
I am using H2OS beta (Nougat) and I followed the below steps, but safety net is failing.
1. Dirty flash current ROM
2. Flash UnSU.zip
3. Flash magisk and phh zips
4. Reboot
5. Install Magisk Manager and Phh superuser
6. check safety net
Is there anything which I'm doing wrong? Can you help me please. Thank you
Edit: A reboot and everything worked fine. Thank you so much
Sorry to disturb this thread, but I am a bit confused because the official Magisk thread nowhere mentions that phh's su would be the only working su solution:

It might work with SuperSu too.
Hey,
I've been trying to install Magisk and it asks me to have SuperSU installed before I do, which I don't want. How do I install MagiskSU or even Magisk if it asks me to install SuperSU?...
Thanks

I would suggest flashing osmOsis's UnSU zip, then Magisk v11.2.

Your boot image is pre-patched for SuperSU. Flash a clean boot image.
Yeah I found the original boot.img of the stock rom my rom is based on and flashed it and it fixed it! Thanks guys

In the ROM zip.
In case it has built-in superuser, I would suggest flashing osmOsis's unsu zip as well.
Is MagiskSU just another name for Magisk? A module I want to install has the following requirements:
Requirements:
Magisk v13.x/14.0
MagiskSU
I have Magisk v14.5 installed so does that mean I automatically have MagiskSU or is that something additional I have to add?

That requirement is probably a remnant from when Magisk also was compatible with SuperSU. It's not anymore, so when installing Magisk you get MagiskSU along with it.

Thanks! I was confused by that and I couldn't find a good answer when searching. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Oddly, I don't have any root after installing Magisk v15 via recovery. Magisk is working, integrity tests are both green, can install all the modules with no problem and integrity tests are still green, but no root.
Interesting, isn't it?

I'm fighting with magisk, so first of all I installed latest Magist Manager and via Manager I download Magisk latest version (20400). Then I boot my phone into recovery mode (TWRP) and install zip with magisk. Here everything is good, magisk should be installed without problems. But when I open Magisk Manager I get error "Magisk is not installed". Also There is a problem with SafetyNet Check (ctsProfile: false).
Magisk v20.4 doesn't support A11... You need to use the Canary release or wait for the next beta/stable release.
And note that there has been issues with Magisk and A11 if you have TWRP installed. Booting TWRP without installing it has been working fine though.

So now I have installed canary version. Via magisk canary i download latest magisk version (20425) and install it via TWRP and now it looks like Magisk is installed but still safetyNet check failed and also I cannot hide Magisk Manager so = I cannot still use it.

EDIT: SOLVED! See the bottom of this post.
Hello!
I have just flashed the Xiaomi.EU ROM and installed Magisk. However, the SafetyNet check fails, both the basicIntegrity and ctsProfile checks fail. It's not even Play Protect certified. Is it any different for you? Is there a way to fix it, did I do something wrong?
I have tried removing Magisk, which makes the SafetyNet check pass again. It's definitely tied to Magisk somehow.
I patched my Magisk boot.img by taking the boot.img from the ROM, copying it to the device, using Magisk Manager to patch it, then flashing it to boot_a and boot_b.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I fixed it by re-patching the boot image, reflashing it, and enabling Magisk hide. This time, I patched the boot image while on the Xiaomi.EU ROM, the previous one was patched on the CN ROM.
Thanks!
What should i do/try/check when i have followed the install procedure (correctly and tried severel times) but my phone is not rooted?
LineageOS 20.0, Magisk 23.0
Use magisk 25.2? Did you direct install?
Yeah, well. I need magiks-hide so 23.0 is the latest i can use. Not sure what direct install means, i downloaded the boot.img, install magisk into it using the app, and then did the fastboot flash-thingy.

How do you mean "the same way"?
I mean with magisk, i unzip the boot.img, patch it using the magisk app and then fastboot flash it on the device. But sure i can not use the magisk app to patch Magisk Delta into the boot.img, right?
So, is there a magisk delta app somewhere that does the patching?

Yes. On the GitHub. You can also flash thru twrp. Use previous links I sent.
Just install the magisk delta app and got it all working. The MD app even recognised the existing magisk kernel and offered to do a direct install.
Very happy and thank you for all the support. Will make a donation soon.
lol tried the magisk delta and flashed the .img but in boot loop now.on moto g play 2023.. so maybe no support for that yet.. reflashed original patched boot.img and back
Same here. Direct installed Magisk Delta. But after restart phone become non rooted, unable to prompt magisk. But only magisk delta able to hide the root from banking apps. It is quite irritating. Did you figured anyway on this issue?
Hey Victorlmy i had to flash the original magisk patched file back to get it to boot again... hold the volume down and power buttons till you get it to boot to bootloader and reflash.. still tring to figure out why it didnt boot
