I haven't been in the phone flashing game for a while. I'm not seeing many topics regarding my Xperia 1ii (Docomo version) Because there are locked bootloaders nowadays or something? Would like to flash a global ROM on it but I don't see official TWRP support for it either.
Not receiving the Android 12 updates either even though I should by now. I'm in South East Asia, is my location causing the update not to get pushed over?
using Japaneses model doesn't mean it always locked, i have AU version of xz1 that unlocked and have xz3 global that locked.. but yeah. most Japaneses model are locked. if you are locked. or only want to flash global. there no need to unlock it. or use twrp or other recovery. in fact flashing official rom doesn't even use recovery mode at all. it use download mode(if im not mistaking it)and with tool like xperia Firmware downloader and newflasher. you can flash any official rom to your docomo one.
BUT. REMEMBER!!
1.Japaneses smartphone use special nfc hardware that different than global. your nfc will go bye bye if you flash global rom in there.
2.careful. do research before flashing. xperia devices is not as easy as samsung or xiaomi. 1 mistake can be fatal. if lucky it only bootloop. but if unluck, from software/feature glitch, locked(sim/ubl) or just refuse to detected(A.k.a permanent dead)
i been use xperia devices since z4 era. and trust me it more scare to change official rom on locked devices than swap custom rom or install mod like magisk, etc on unlocked devices even manually modified system file are better than change to global on locked devices,

I have a problem.. I bought my xperia z unlocked and "unbranded". Full price and stuff.
But my xperia isn't unbranded at all. It's branded by vodafone Germany, the phone it's unlocked. But i have stupid preinstalled apps from vodafone and i can't get rid of the.. Not to mention i will get my updates via vodafone Germany (ps, i don't live not even near Germany).
And i didn't buy my phone from vodafone!!
Can I use this tutorial? http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/04/01/debrand-your-xperia-z-tutorial/
And this world_xxxxx rom (now i have vodafone1_xxxxx) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2209637
If i do this, i will still have my warranty?
Thanks.
Root you XZ, install some king of app manager (Ex: titanium backup) and remove that apps. I did the same here (Portuguese TMN apps)
Yeah.. but still. My phone will have "vodafone" rom. And that's my main problem and frustration.

Grab any ftf file from any country you want and use Flashtool to flash the ftf file, no need for rooting or unlocking BL.
I gived back that one. And i bought a new xperia.
The problem with this one is like : the phone have the file system version Global-lte_10.1.a.350.
And does not find any update to Global-lte_10.1.a.434.
I tried another pc.. OTA/Cable.. Does not work. the phone it's made in week 11 (so between March 11, 2013 and March 17, 2013).
And Sony released the 434 update around 20 march i think. It's possible this phone have the bug fix already in it?

No need for OTA when you can download any ftf and flash it using flashtool anyway.
I understand that but i'm just wondering why this phone does not want to "see" the update.

Updating is easy and if Sony PC Companion is malfunctioning, you could use Flashtool ( get it here )
After that you can download the latest firmware ( ftf format ) here
There are some guides on how to flash the latest firmware, and don't worry flashing won't void your warranty or root your device.
This is the best and the most informative click me
Good luck
Hi
If I do that, will ota updates work in future?
Don't have time to fiddle around too much now and again every time there's an update,
Any ideas how to get it to pick up the ota update, which I'm sure has already been released for its region?
There's a thread around here with a tool to download the official full firmware files per region and flash them to your phone.
As long as you use a region that's compatible (with radios and all) the effect should be a perfectly fresh installed stock phone that will pick up OTA's just like any other official firmware.
sony flashtool or something? I can't remember.
Hi,
The firmware thats on the phone is global region,
23.0.A.2.93 - Unbranded - GLOBAL (1286-9917) #1
But i dont see lollipop updates for it.
Which region firmware should i use to flash?? Which would work 100%
Pls help with some advise asap which will work
I just got a new Z3+ to replace my old one that got broken. The new one had Android 6.0.0 and immediately updated to 6.0.1 32.2.A.0.253. But now it says my system is up-to-date and doesn't show nougat available. I went to the Sony support website (https://support.sonymobile.com/us/software/#gref) and entered the IMEI and it also says "Your Xperia Z3+ is up-to-date release 32.2.A.0.253". Right under that, it has a block that says "My Android Information" and it says Android 7.1 Nougat is released for Xperia Z3+. (See attached image)
So, I'm confused. Do I need to give it more time and maybe it will show the OTA update available?
I don't seem to be able to restore my Google backup from the old phone while the Android versions are mismatched.

For your region it may not released. You can flash Naugat update of any region through Flashtool, but you have read and understand the process and need to do the experiment (no need to unlock bootloader). I have flashed different versions (upgrade or downgrade) using flashtool number of times.
Check this link for more information and step by step guide. Do all your experiments at your own risk

Do you mean a region associated with the phone, or the carrier (T-mobile)? My old phone is a Z3+ and it updated to Nougat automatically. If there's a region associated with the phone, is there a way to see that?
If it is Carrier locked, then carrier specific else region specific update to be released. If your phone is locked with T-Mobile, don't try to use flashtool. I not aware of carrier locked phones flashing.

I went ahead and flashed it manually via FlashTool and all is good now. Once it was updated, it saw my Google backup and I was able to restore it. Thanks for the help.
Hello everyone, I just want to ask. I've Xperia XZ2, it's AU Model (SOV37), using Global Firmware (H8216).
I want to flash back into it's original firmware in order to use the NFC.
I already download the Japan Firmware (SOV37_KDDI JP_52.0.C.5.295-R13B), but I'm afraid that it will sim-locked if I flash it.
I'm also afraid that since this device wasn't able to unlock the bootloader (since the Bootloader Unlocked Allowed: No), can I still flash the firmware?
Can anyone show to me step by step how to flash the firmware (Not flash the STOCK ROM)?
Thanks in advance.
as long as you delete all the .TA files there shouldn't be any problem, though the latest japan firmware available is android 9
not sure what you mean by firmware though, since technically what you trying to do is flashing a firmware as in stock rom
Hi all, I'm new to modding in general so there's many things I don't quite understand, hoping somebody can help.
I bought an S10 from a site which was supposed to just send me a refurbed (italian) S10, instead they sent me the US version, (G973U) and I believe it is carrier locked since it's stuck with Android 9 and doesn't find any update.
I have tried searching to no avail what I should flash to simply unbrand it, and allow it to receive OTA updates without tripping Knox.
The build version is the following: PPR1.180610.011.G973USQU2ASGC and the CRC is XAA/XAA/ATT
Thanks in advance.
You shall call them.
Who and what for? I'm past the point of dealing with those sellers, I just want to flash the phone.
CSC (not CRC).
XAA is a multi-region USA ROM, so I don't think it will change over properly for you in Italy. There are threads here for how you reflash a different ROM. The one I used for my S10+ was this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...e-links-and-flashing-discussion-here.3905897/ but I am sure there is one like that for your S10 non-plus... find it, follow the instructions, and you should be all set.
Thanks! I'm a newbie, what does it mean it wouldn't change properly? No OTAs? Tripping KNOX?
I have found this which seems to be the equivalent of the link you posted.
So, I should flash the U1 version right? However I see only a file "SAU - 1 - ....", and my build number doesn't end in that, furthermore I don't know which bootloader version I'm at.

Oh ok. I couldn't understand first.
For that, You'll flash in EDL mode. But the problem is if your device is powered by a snapdragon chip, it'll not working seamlessly.

No problem. I'm aware of the mode I have to enter to flash, as above I'm trying to figure out which stock rom I should flash to avoid tripping knox, and to receive OTAs. What won't work seamlessly?
Well, mods can close the thread, found the way to do it. Leaving it in case somebody ever needs it.
First, found & checked the bootloader version (5th number from the right in the build version) since you can only flash older bootloader versions apparently.
Then downloaded through Frija the rom for the unlocked phone variant (SM-G973U1) and the unbranded CSC (XAA)
Then using odin 3.13.3b flashed the rom

Hello, I'm in more or less same situation. When you flashed, which files did you use? All of them or just the AP_*** file?
Never mind. Flashed it anyway, now I don't see the AT&T startup screen anymore which is promising. Firmware version is now Android 11 (SM-G973U1 and not SM-G973U) on XAA CSC. Will see if I get any firmware updates later.
