Screen glitch causing horizontal lines and green tint. - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue where I have to wait for the AOD to appear before unlocking my phones otherwise the screen glitches out and horizontal lines appear near the top with a green tint to the entire display, if I wait for the AOD to appear this issue never occurs, any ideas?
Here's a video of the issue
Thanks very much for any advice you might have, I'd really appreciate if someone could share a possible fix.

Thats the well-known green screen defect. Replacing your screen is the only permanent fix for it iirc.

Galaxy S4 Smearing / Ghost Problem

Hi! I am encountering Display Screen smearing/ghosting issue in my S4. When I scroll down in menu section I encounter black background. Besides that, sometimes i also encounter a purple haze on the grey bits of the menu and elsewhere. The effect is more noticeable when the brightness is turned down. Any solution for this? I have tried another Original display but I am encountering similar problem. I have already re-soldered display connector pins and checked each pin personally via Multi-meter, as well as other surrounding components. Any help is highly appreciated.

[Q] Watch face moves around by few pixels in dimmed mode

Hello everyone,
I noticed a strange behaviour when G Wath R goes into the "dimmed mode".
After some time, no rule how long, while the "dimmed mode" is on, the watch face kind of skips a few pixels in rather random direction. When you wake the watch the face goes back to the center.
This happens on any watch face (stock or 3rd party).
Attached photos show how the face went a little to the right and down - 1st: centered, 2nd: moved.
Anyone else got this issue?
Any cure?
Thank you.
It's not an issue but a feature. It's designed that way so no single pixel is stuck displaying the same color all the time and so helps prevents the screen burn-in that happens on every OLED screen.
It doesn't 100% prevents (with that watchface for example I don't think it's gonna do much good) it but it's a lot better than nothing.
Here is some info about burn-in protection.

Thank you all for the info. I was unaware of this.
FYI this can be turned off by changing 1 to 0 in this line in build.prop:
Code:
ro.ambient.burn_in_protection=1
Thanks.

Display bug with black and grey

Hello everyone, i really love my p20 pro but it seems like I have some kind of a Display bug. Whenever there is grey and black(so that the display is turned off there) and then swype, I have weird "veils", as you can see in my video. Does anybody have the same issue? You can see that as weel when you are in dark mode and the scroll in your settings. Or is this just because it is an OLED display? I had an IPS one before and that definitly did not had issues like that. If you want to reproduce it you can use the image from the video as well.
Does someone know a solution to this besides bringing it to a service center? Thank you!

The problem is the oled screen most of them do that.
This is normal for OLED cause the pixels individually produce light. So they are switched off at that point.
At last found some one has the same complaints with me.
Yes this is amoled nature, the pixel take times to turn from completely off to some colours. Unlike ips LCD displays the backlight is always on.
But, i only notice this problem ob very early generation Samsung phone (like Samsung S2 /S3) generation. I actually try to do the same thing on the display unit of Samsung s9.
Guess what?Samsung panel doesn't have this black smearing effect
I do believe it can be fixed via software. Cuz I only notice this in gallery and menu setting. Playing video doesn't have this problem
Anyway please feedback your complaint to Huawei so that they can hear you and start to do something!

Red Tint Issue Solution

After lots of research, I finally found a solution, but its temporary.
Download & Install ScreenDimmer (Dims Notification Too) By Etsang From Play Store.
Keep the auto brightness off, and device brightness @100% (Or Above 50%), install app, give permissions and change brightness from app according to your usage, thats it.
I think red tint is a software bug, not a hardware, because at last the motive is to decrease the brightness (dim the display) without red tint. App is also doing the same. The only difference is it has no red tint.
This works but if advise against using it. It records your inputs.
More to your point of it being a software bug, I agree. I wats always under the impression that they could fix it by adding blue in software based on the light sensor input. I noticed that if you put your phone in grey scale (in notification tray) that the grey for the icons in the tray that are toggled on, are actually grey while the other have a red tint. Normally the toggled on icons are blue when not in grey scale. The fact that it can show grey properly under these conditions as well as the one you described shows software could address the issue.

Oh wow it works but im gonna wait for asus to fix it.
Yeah, actually the brightness mechanism of oleds and LCDs is different, lcds just have a backlight led that would get brighter or dimmer pretty straightforward, but OLED's case is different, getting brighter or dimmer means showing different frequencies of the same color so our eyes can see that color brighter or dimmer, thats why when you turn the brightness of an oled panel down you still dont feel the way you do with a lcd
Long story short, this tint issue is most probably caused by wrong calibration of different brightness levels but still, i would take my hopes up with asus...they dont have a good history of customer support at least in their mobile phones section
Btw, thanks for the app and thumbs up
happy to hear this is a software issue. I am sure Asus will fix this with an update.
I knew this was a software bug long time ago. Since I noticed even night mode did same problem too. That's who I found out this is software defently.

Newbie Urgent help last day to return

Afternoon everyone i urgently need opinion i have a perfect black round dot that i thought was a sensor or selfie camera or notification i cant screen shot it as it goes and disappears but is is permanently there other than that films screens on black backgrounds but wierdly not on screenshots anyone know hwta it is? it doesnt look like a pixel more like a notifcation or smomething telling me i have something switched on i have attached a picture from my iPhone thanks in advance
Hey!
When you make screenshots, does the dor appear?
As I see there are 2 options:
1. (Most common) you have dead pixels. This means those pixels are literally dead, and as a consequence, black permanently. The only way tk fix is it is by replacing the screen
2. (Very rare) a software problem. In this case by some reason those pixels aren't been rendered, though this is a remote possibility, but posible. For checking, if you capture a screenshot and the dot appear, then there may be a software problem. Otherwise, the phone is rendering that black dot, but by some reason the screen isn't showing it up.
So please let me know if when capturing a screenshot you see the dot.

They say they can’t screenshot it. It’s a dead pixel. if the device is under warranty, use the warranty. If not, rlly nothing you can do, there are some yt vids that flash lights your screen, and that can potentially fix it.
There is a small possibility it’s a app overlay doing this, does still appear when you are in the settings app (settinsg does not show overlays unless you toggled the option in developer settings)
It appears everywhere settings videos and anywhere else.. except a screenshot if i do that it goes. normally a dead pixel is quite blurry and you can tell the burn etc etc this is a exact round dot like its a notification or sensor initially i thought it was a camera or light ambient sensor lol i may have toggled something in developer settings lol its so exact and round i thought i may have mucked around with somthing in the settings
Dead pixels don't need to be blurry. Dead pics and screen burning are different things. Dead pixels may happen by an impact to a certain region of the screen that was hard enough to kill those pixels. Maybe a shortcut as well. I don't really know. To me it seems dead pixels
