There is certainly a measured skin temperature
Seems we are all waiting for this:
Samsung Health and Galaxy Watch 5 get Natural Cycles integration
Natural Cycle's ground-breaking algorithm is coming to a smartwatch for the first time, and it's none other than Samsung's Galaxy ...
www.sammobile.com
This is then reason for me to buy GW5...

So you have to be a woman to use the GW5's temperature sensor?
Sometimes.
This is similar s h it like they did with BP ECG feature...
First sell the Watch... then long long nothing...
I mean with your Screenshot we can see this Temp Sensor exists and seems working...
Then why the hell GW5 users have to wait so long...
I mean as man Temp is also usefull IMHO...
I don't need such app... only body temp...

But you can actually workaround both ECG and blood pressure obstacles even without buying extra stuff.
It is stupid, however, that semi-pro people, who use it, do it in most cases before official manufacturer. Stupid for manufacturer, to be exact.
I'll actually try to make that sensor to work with being man, but register myself as a woman (mine watch is gonna have new motherboard anyway, so any settings went to trash).

This is NOT it. This isn't skin temperature sensor, but an ordinary temperature sensor behind the battery that is in all watches and android phones to keep batteries from overheating. Galaxy Watch 4 has that info also. Device Info 360 on watch:
Google Play
Device Info 360: HW, Root, SW
4.4
(1.3K)
lists that as Samsung Thermistor Sensor ID 69656. But you want Samsung Skin Temp Sensor ID 69686 at least that's what my GW5Pro is showing.
Samsung recently published info on the infared skin sensor: https://www.melexis.com/en/news/202...mperature-sensor-for-menstrual-cycle-tracking
Miniature digital infrared thermometer IC in surface-mount technology
Miniature infrared (IR) thermometer IC in surface mount technology with a small 3x3mm footprint for accurate non-contact temperature measurement.
www.melexis.com
Pretty damn capable skin temperature if you ask me, probs more accurate than any other temperature sensors that are available on Apple Watch Ultra but waiting for Samsung to make use of it is useless especially in countries like Canada.
Their github site lists example code and drivers for this ir skin sensor: https://www.melexis.com/en/documents/documentation/datasheets/datasheet-mlx90632
Unfortunately I'm not a developer, here hoping somebody else could look into this. Actual temperature measurements can be very useful with Galaxy Watch 5.

I gonna buy that watch also (pebble)...money is problem just for you. Not for me.
Sony is not CHIP brand. I do not want to wear a watch which is named "pebble" with black and white display !? WTF is that ? We got Multi-touch color OLED display
-Sony WATCH cost 150 bucks...what do you accept to see inside kid? GOLD ?
I checked all stores...(main web site also) the items out of stock.
No bad feedback's about latest (MN2) generation...why so negative man?
You have it ? NO.
Where you got your experiences from ? From John? hahahah Who cares what inside.... is Sony not pebble...
Were you saw bad feedback's ? (the watch working so smooth and fast)
I bought Smartwatch 3 days ago, i confirm that it works well, without any problem. Don't have any bluetooth disconnection, notifications work "in time", battery is as it should be, fully charged it on day 1, no need to plug in again at the moment.
Need more time to test it and keep my opinion to say if it's really stable and a good product.
Regarding my phone's battery, when i check battery stats, Smartwatch use 4% so i think it's reasonable.
Sony Smartwatch
Just to let others know I have now had this watch a little under a week.....My impression so far is good.....it does exactly what it says it will .......with NO disconnections(unlike its predessecor the live view which always lost the connection and barely worked). All programs work well and the device speed is surpisingly good too(switching between screens and widgets etc). My only complaint is brightness there is no way to set it and in daylight it is hard to read the screen.
I got my sony smartwatch 6 days ago and the last charge was 4 days ago. So no problem with the battery. Yes the screen does come on when i shake it which is pretty convenient i think.
Sony's watch is more of a remote viewer and notifier. It doesnt use its own android system it uses the phones i think so it may not be fair to compare it to other smart watches that have android running on them. It is a lot cheap than others at the moment.
I'm using it with a Xperia S and the bluetooth only uses 3%. If i have all the notification it can do turned on then it only lasts 14 hours. With just text and email its managing 30 hours quite nicely
Hope this helps anyone.
just a quick question sir, how do you set the screen brightness? i've looked everywhere but yet to locate the settings?

Pebble is ridden with deceptive marketing.
For example, "e-paper" display? Please do not confuse with e-ink display.
The "e-paper" display is just regular black and white pixel LCD (not different from those already in use in today's digital watches).
And now let's look at what is inside a pebble shall we?
Micron N25Q032A11ESE40F 32 Mb serial flash
STMicroelectronics STM32F205RE high-performance ARM Cortex-M3 MCU, with a maximum speed of 120 MHz
STMicroelectronics LIS3DH 3-axis accelerometer
144 x 168 pixel black and white LCD
Spring buttons for navigation
Full plastic construction

Compare this with the Smartwatch
- CPU: STM32F205RG (120MHz)
- RAM: 128KB
- Flash: 1MB (For firmware only, apps are stored on the phone, not on the watch like pebble)
- OS: uC/OS-II
- BlueTooth: Yes (3.0)
- Fm Radio: Yes (disabled)
- LCD: 1.3" OLED
- Res: 128 x 128
- Touchscreen: Yes (Capacitive)
- Brushed Aluminium housing
- Battery - 110mAh
Just looking at the cost of components alone (let's ignore the fact that Smartwatch already has hundred of apps while the pebble can only display one notification at a time and has a silly snake game as an app...), Smartwatch is a better choice by far.
The curious part of it is they use the exact same processor.

Does anyone have a template (for making an adapter) for connecting to the USB pins while the watch is being worn? I'm imagining a "shim" only 1-2mm or so thick that clips onto the back.
The particular use case I'm looking at is a wearable EKG for fitness use. The EKG would have its own battery (and actually charges the watch) and possibly integrate other functions like a more accurate pedometer, respiratory rate, GPS, maybe even energy harvesting. It would implement ADK or ADB (the way boards like Kelly Wu and IOIO do) to send the data.

I don't know the set up for the pins myself, but I do remember seeing something about it it here somewhere...
However, wouldn't it be easier to have your monitor connect to the USB from the phone? Or to a Bluetooth module that could sync with the gear/phone?

I had done a search recently on Amazon for a charger for the gear.. There are a few that look like they are low profile enough to wear them.
I cannot post any links yet so my key words in amazon were " Samsung+Gear+ Charger "
WHY DON't they release this?

this looks pretty sick!
Why?
Becuase it's a clunky Security device for a store display. those people dont talk to marketed product designers usually. So, their ingenuity in making it work in the store doesn't get passed down to consumers.
looks like something Steamfunky!

Tho you do recognize it's compactness right? Of course you understand we're referring ONLY to the metal covering with the cable that charges the watch, NOT the huge ass plastic box beneath it....just to be clear....
You have to admit it's a hell of a lot more sleek than those plastic cradles available on eBay.

Great suggestion for a Samsung Gear "FIT" accessory.

That is a great business idea:
1. Active and Continuous EKG (not the type that is touch activated)
2. Pedometer
3. Sleep Pattern
4. Calorie Counter (possibly derived from EKG, pedometer and Sleep Data)
5. Respiratory Rate
I would think the GPS is redundant since you are not going to part with your phone anyways. And it will be a battery drainer.
If anybody has seen anything close to this, please let me know.
Thanks
Gopi
i like where this is going. hopefully mine is on its way here today, this is something i was hoping to play with. it would be cool to use the watch as your interface for extras. even possibly setting it up with these things to use on its own (i think its a cheap dev tool/starting place at under $200 now)

Made one with illustration board. I tried using the magnifying glass lens I have laying around (I conveniently have 2) but it doesn't get the job done. Everything looks blurred until I move the phone 4 inch farther... so that's why it is required to have lens with 40-45mm focal length (regardless of diameter, I think)
I'll be making another one out of vinyl tiles while I'm looking for the proper lenses here in my area.

depends on the app. Do a search for Google Cardboard. Its still a very young market, so apps are limited. I have one app that's for watching videos, but the rest are pretty much demos of 3d experiences (google earth, roller coaster, street view). The apps split the screen into two and the headset allows each eye to get one view
But the first time people use it..... A long ....woooooowwwwww....

Hi, the magnetometer is near IR blaster, so I have to lock my phone in the glass as high as possible to make the magnet stick work
Thank you, it work, but very shaky. May be we can change magnet to more powerful (from hard drive, e.g.)? Or can use voice, or headeset button?
In my case, I use 2 ferrite magnets and hold the phone like I do above. I think you can modify the glass with a lower magnet slider
I tried a bigger neodymium magnet (20mm diameter, 5mm thick) and it didn't work.

It features an original and clean design, with support for ambient screen (dimmed mode).
Future updates will feature more themes with various color combinations, and the possibility to fully customise the interface.
It was tested on a Moto360. Supposedly it should work on other Android Wear smartwatches as well. If you can test it on other models, I would be grateful if you would provide feedback.
Get it for free from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deveddy.circleswatchface
Enjoy!
I like it. It looks quite nice on the GWR.
A (configurable?) black background (in ambient mode) would be ideal for the OLED screen.
It's a keeper for me, thnx!

Haha, good one! I'm not a designer, I just used some free template from the internet. But I hardly believe that someone thinks that it's fake advertising.
Also, it should be compatible with wear 5.0, I tested on the emulator (I still haven't received the update yet on my Moto 360) and it worked. Although it's not using the new Wear Watchface API (yet )

It'll work but it won't dim. So it will shred battery life.
Oh, I see, I couldn't test ambient mode in the emulator. Anyway, I'll be updating the watchface to the new API very soon.
Thanks for the feedback.
i also could not get it to dim and it estimated full discharge of battery at 8hrs from 80% serious drain, i dont even use FIT now as i found that take battery too!

Hi! I just published an update to the watch face, that makes use of the new Wear 5.0 APIs. This being said, ambient mode works flawlessly, also a 12-hour format option has been added, and the circles are sharper . Enjoy!
I have just installed your watchface and I like it.
Could you add the possibility to raise the diameter of the circles ?
On my LG R the circles are a bit smalls compared to the diameter of the screen.
Many thanks.
classic design. had this in my collection and confused it for a default watch face! :good:

Just tonight 4/27/23...got my update -- watch is SM R920. Post update, Software version is R920XXU1AWB1 System version 11, Wear ver 3.5 Wear core services 1.4.69.512673544. Update took about 20 minutes after the download. Seems like SpO2 is better than before, used to have to measure it with a finger now it appears to work on my wrist. I can (so far) find nowhere that body temperature is available or enabled. As a side note I am in Ecuador FWTW as far as regional settings/restrictions go.
Couple notes. Reboot after the last reboot thats part of the software update is a must. Trying to do anything without a manual reboot on mine was very laggy. The reboot helped. Seems on mine that SpO2 and ECG are definitely better but on stress and SpO2 the display seems a little laggy......also when charging the time display, batt % and time to full are different than before, larger and at center screen, something I personally like. Also note that the security patch is 2023-04-01.

So is mine, but mine is AWD6
This is truly weird. When I did the post mine was AWB1. Now it shows AWD6 same as what you see. thanks for this info. I am reading...and was reading...the information from the Galaxy Wearable app on the phone. Truly amazing. Without your kind reply I never would have spotted this.
Regards and thanks again.
An addendum. I have thin wrists, have always had problems with SpO2 since purchase....to the point where I finally gave up trying to read it with the watch on my wrist. Reading SpO2 with the watch on the same finger I use my monitor on....the watch would agree within a point. Before the update when it would read at all it would consistently be sometimes 5 points off. Since the update the watch so far reads reliably on my wrist and is within a point of the monitor. Additionally the watch seems more reliable reading ECG than before less poor reading messages with the necessity to read ECG again. Only thing I wish is the temperature sensor was enabled in the new update. Otherwise most excellent so far from Samsung. Will be interesting to see how battery life compares.

Yes, but do you actually have in settings option to "predict using skin temp"?
Cause I bet like me (also running WDA on Watch 5 Pro) you don't have that option even if you select Cycle Tracking which men don't use.
