Question Spesn, very slow and laggy. Any fix? - Redmi Note 11 (spes/spesn)

Previously I was using Samsung A 70 and note 11 is like two times slower in general performance. Everything feels worse. UI responsiveness, animations, app loading, app performance etc.
Yes, it's 4 GiB ram for Xiaomi and 8 GiB for Samsung. But I don't expect it would matter so much especially since it never uses more than 70% of those 4 GiB (with swap disabled).
I tried to use MIUI.eu but no real difference. Is it really all down to ram or it's defective piece?
After few months I got so feed up that I went back to Samsung and now it feels like real upgrade. Any tips?

Free RAM on all Xiaomi/MiUI

Is this the normal free ram on all phones?
How is it utilised so much?
When I had Mi3 with 2GB the free ram would be shown as ~800MB
With Redmi Note 3 it was again 50%
With Mi Note 2 it was~ 1.8GB & on rare occasions 2GB
With Redmi Note 5 Pro the same ~1.6-1.8GB
With now the K20Pro it's ~2.8 -3GB
So my question is - is it being utilised to keep MIUI stocks apps etc in cache & is there a huge difference between MiUI & other roms based on aosp etc?
Like basically ~50% RAM is always occupied so how is it being managed - like say on previous redmi note 5pro it was 2GB out of 4GB so if 2 GB here is OS related then why not 2GB again on K20Pro considering it's the same OS MiUI 10? Why~50-60%
I'm guessing on 8GB phones it'll be around 3.8GB free, right?
I wish someone can answer this, this issue is also stressing me out. All the default cleaner apps of the phone does not do anything. It's still running on background.
I kinda miss using a rooted phone. Can't install a custom rom yet because of the warranty.

Question Questions from a N00b coming from OnePlus

Hey guys,
I'm a longtime Oneplus user (had every phone from the Oneplus One to the 9 Pro). I'm looking to jump onboard the Mi 11 train, but wanted to know a couple things...
1. How is the overall performance compared to the 9 Pro? I'm used to the fluidity of OxygenOS for so long that anything slower will be a pain to get used to.
2. Can the 65W Warp Charger from Oneplus work (at 65W) with Xiaomi's phone?
3. How easy is it to root? I have a few apps that I use regularly that require root.
4. When rooting or fiddling around on the whole, how easy is it to reflash and start again? I know that OP has tools like MSMTool where I can just reflash the entire phone back to stock incase I f*$k everything up. Samsung also has Odin. Is there an equivalent for the Mi 11 Ultra?

1. I think miui will be slower. I heard people said that oxygen is almost like stock android, but miui have alot of extra function
2. I think no, different charge technology. Of course, charge will be fast but u will not be at maximum of "warp" things
3. Ez af
4. Ez af, too (miflash)

I quote and add
I am also an user from oneplus by 1 to 8 PRO
Instead the 9 PRO I bought the Mi11 ULTRA.
unfortunately I have to tell you that the 8pro was faster
the oneplus touch is much more instantaneous and so is the fingerprint reader.
However here you have a camera that looks better and for me who love photos it has been determined but if you want speed, responsiveness and a more naked system well stay on oneplus friend
the mi11 ultra has another philosophy
Thanks for the responses guys.
Is the performance night and day? If it's a big difference between them performance-wise, I don't think I can I've with that. I've gotten way too used to the speed and responsiveness of OxygenOS.
Hi, Allow me to join with my experience.
I moved from oneplus 6t to Mi11U, ( i know they are incomparable, but as a software experience, it is same as all oneplus devices), so i'd like to mention the following comments, worth to be considered:
- Animation in oxygen is faster in MIUI, that is where you'll find oxygen faster in general, this can be changed in developer view settings in MIUI under (Drawing section) and changing all animation and duration scales to 0.5 to OFF. and you'll notice the difference.
- Oneplus fingerprint is totally faster than MIUI in everyway. but a split second does not hold me off from a new experience.
- Camera is a matter of taste, and your own choice of photos. Personally, I love MI11U over OP9Pro, but photos of OP9Pro might be more preferable to me.
- MIUI bloatware is annoying for sure (only in CN and EU. versions). I use global (out of the box) Mi11U, which has its own apps, but nothing is annoying and it is really comfortable to use.
- MIUI software in general over oxygen, that is after a very long experience with Oneplus ( over 3 years with 3 devices), compared to MIUI for almost a year now. MIUI is almost bug free, smooth, security and memory manager app is really useful and manges your device very well. compared to oxygen, you'll have minor bugs (not major) all the time that will NEVER be gone, faster updates but most of the time they replace bugs with others. never ending story which is pretty annoying.
i'd like to summarize with the following:
- Device in general : MI11U
- Camera : OP9Pro (with more potentials in MI11U)
- Software speed : OP9Pro out of the box, but I'd say Tie (Possible to improve in MIUI with developer options).
- Fingerprint scanner: OP9Pro by split seconds.
- Software cleanliness and smoothness : Tie (Global MIUI considered)
- Software bug free: MI11U with a huge margin. actually, it completely thrashes Oxygen.
- UI and functions: Mi11U with a huge margin
- General device experience: Mi11U
- Gaming speed and memory management: Mi11U
I was about to check out OP9Pro and then decided lets risk with a change. and I don't regret it.

Thanks a hassanaliyeh. You made my decision a lot easier. It's always hard to move to something new, but I think I'll give them a try.
I'm reading however that there a 7 day wait when trying to unlock the phone's bootloader. Is that true? Can someone direct me to an updated guide for rooting and unlocking?
168 hours between starting the process and the actual unlock and format. Just make sure you use latest version of mi-unlock tool from Xiaomi and ensure you have a fully bonded Xiaomi account on your phone and the Xiaomi website or it won't unlock. There is no way around the wait unfortunately and remember to not lock the bootloader unless you are back on original stock ROM branch. If you go Xiaomi EU ROM, the bootloader shows unlocked but the ROM acts as if it is, so no loss of security and no need to root unless there is something specific you need that requires it. Lots of guides for unlocking but just follow the Xiaomi guide on their website.

Ok understood. I'm buying the 11 Ultra from someone and I just found out the bootloader is already unlocked. Once I wipe and set up my own Xiaomi account, I shouldn't have any worries right? All that should be left to do is just root?
I think so but I've never bought a second hand Xiaomi. Maybe someone who has gone through this process could comment? I would have thought that once you logout or the previous owner logs out, it should just be a matter of formatting data and logging in from scratch with your account?
Before wiping off the device, log out of his mi account first. And better if you create yours and log it in then wipe off.

Ha, 99% that your 11U is CN version
There is tiny difference on 5G bands with CN and global, just all
Guys, I'm in desperate need of your help.
So in fiddling around with MiFlash, I attempted to flash the stock Global Rom over, but didn't realize that the 'clean all and lock' option was select. No sure who's genius design choice it was to have that option selected by default, but now my phone is bricked and can't get past the recovery screen

First of all, I recommend to wait for phones with MediaTek Dimensity 9000 releasing next year Q1, or phones with Qualcomm 8 gen 1 made by TSMC next year Q3Q4(instead of chipsets made by Samsung).
Qualcomm's snapdragon 888 and 8 gen 1 suffers from Samsung's poor manufacturing and have big heating issues and poor performance to energy consumption rate issues.
MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is being made by TMSC, and there will be Qualcomm 8 gen 1 made by TMSC in the later half of next year, and they will have better(lower) power consumption and temperature.
Therefore Mi 11 with snapdragon 888 is not recommended.
However, to answer your question:
1. MiUI's overall performance is not bad, and on par with Oxygen OS.
2.Xiaomi's phone uses USB-PD charging, it's more universal(meaning lots of charger on market and not expensive), and offers higher charging rate. It's a difference protocol than Warp Charging and your 65W Warp Charger will only charge 5W1A on Xiaomi's phone.

Best Android version or custom ROM for battery life

For context am running Android 10 on my 960fd exynos note 9 and am barely getting 4 hours Screen on time even after replacing the battery recently
I don't get more than 4 hour even though I don't game or use battery intensive apps. Also with noticalble slow down and lag.
So based on your experience which ROM or vanilla os version should I roll back to and how much screen time do you get ?
LightROM, see link in my sig. Yes it's too old, so it's not patched against security-risks. You need to be somewhat experienced in knowing what apps not to use insecurely and stuff like that. I get about 12 hours screen-time on its original battery (a 960FD).

Hello! If you like my work, please rate it. Thanks!
All i know is that this phone is not very stable , in android 12 onwards.
So i wouldn't use it, even MIUI is stuck in Android 11 for this device. They have it in A11 for a good reason.

I just found out yesterday that Xiaomi isn't updating it to Android 12, which brought me here, to look up for new ROMs. You said "they have it in A11 for a good reason", referring to it not being very stable. I'm curious. Why do you say so?

Bare with me for 5-12 mins. You or may not agree with me, but it works like this in many ocassions.
Let's say i have a AMD A-5200 CPU , which is a cpu from 2013.
OR - Let's say i have a Intel Pentium 4 P4 - 2.0Ghz from the year 2008
OK? ok the example starts with 2 weak cpu's from ANCIENT TIMES now...
What OS can/would you install in those CPU's?
A Pentium 4 2.0 has 400 MHz. EACH 100mhz translates more or less to 5-15 khz of electrical power the cpu needs to process the information, the data.
Since its so weak, in windows10 or 11 when you open microsoft word 2020 or open office, it will LAG! because the overlay/background OS' is already consuming around 200ghz, all those 400 mhz of cpu power
(Animations, and Cortana, and simply the theme of the wallpaper, and the Registry, and Services, AND even USB peripherical drivers ARE ALL CONSUMING CPU POWER AT ONCE, and at high demands because the OS' Requests it with its kernel )
Since the core memory is so weak! you will most likely be installing windows xp or windows 7 if you're lucky !
BUT if you install windows 11 or 10, you will face unconsistent algorythmical graphic/memory processes
(This is what we call lag) core processing and clock problems, " MEMORY LEAKING problems " or over saturations of the system.
A CPU CONTAINS something called MMU's Memory management unit's, well they start to become obsolete unless you reball and resolder the cpu,
SAME applies if i tried to install LATEST FEDORA OR ARCH LINUX OS's , right? WHY would there be problems?
Because kernels are being update to be version 6.2 today, and that demands a constant clock and processing.
For the AMD A6-5200, Linux and windows 7 would be good options, but for the Pentium 4 2.0ghz of 2008 only windows 7 and Linux with low kernel version of 5 or 5.2 are acceptable.
So these techs at xiomi think similarly, on top of that the Storage of the OS increases, the RAM demand, CPU demand increases with each version, so when you boot your game (mostly the demanding apps) when you boot your designer pen drawing app, IT WILL LAG , perhaps not noticeably for the user in android 12 or 13, BUT AS VERSIONS WILL CONTINUE TO PASS, in Android 13-14 , we will see how this Xiomi Redmi 9A , ITS PROCESSOR and its weak 2gb will not be enough to process/render the datas and assets of the newest OS's
hahaha all that to say, sorry i got inspired " They need to optimize the OS's in the future maybe then we may be able to install newer OS's on older phones " Its like putting android 12 on an Android 8.1 Oreo phone, you understand? First of all an error will prompt saying " Allocating space of data : Error insufficient Space " AND EVEN IF YOU HAD THE SPACE? Lets say we hack the phone and give it 64gb of memory, and give it perfect partitions. ONCE IT BOOTS It will actually have problems, lag, while using the demanding apps.
The newer OS's Versions request mooore Ram , moore CPU powa, more storage space that redmi 9a doesn't have! uhum !
why? cuz the functions actually got smarter uhum !
Dont you see how newer phones have 64 gb of space all by default, tecnology thinks to advance and milk people over and over. They could add 200 gb of space, but no... (Lets wait until its necessary so we can reap the people)
One day an OS SYSTEM will be 25-35 and even 45GB SIZE ! AND THAT DAY YOUR 64 Gb will look like its too small, so you will need to buy the 120-200gb version phone.
Our PC motherboards, cpu's, phones all get old and so obsolete with time, all we can do is recycle them, melt them and make a new modern one, resolder, reball them. That's just how the modern industry works today. You cant just hope to upgrade your old junk/Hardware with the latest Software. One day we will get Android 15, A17 too its already planned ! and this phone will not run it, forget it , hoperfully we will be using opensource Linux OS's even more optimized tweaked than what google and these companies can do in the future. NOT BASED on Android 15 or 17.
You cant just hope to put the new hotdog on the old bread. At least not with the current technology/society
Please, can anyone who's installed this ROM report on whether or not manual camera controls (technically referred to as camera2 API) are available on this ROM either while using a 3rd party camera app (like Manual Camera, Open Camera, etc) or the LOS camera.
I'm considering going from MIUI 12.5 on Redmi 9A to this ROM.
Thanks.

I appreciate your detailed response. So the bottom line is that it's not advisable to put a Ferrari's engine in a Beetle. Also, about what you said, a future smartphone taking 45 GB of HD for system space is wild lol
I bought a Xiaomi Redmi 9A last month and I didn't know it could be so laggy. It works fine for the most part, but there are times I see some noticeable lag, probably because of the reason you mentioned, i.e. A11 (MIUI 12.5) is consuming a lot of its spare 2 GB RAM, though I think this is probably more caused by MIUI and its bloatware than purely Android 11 alone. I have Lineage OS 19 (which is A12) installed on a Galaxy S6, whose hardware specs are somewhat similar to Redmi 9A, and it doesn't cause any noticeable lag. I suspect that installing A11/A12 (but not MIUI!) on Redmi 9A may increase its performance, since it doesn't come with bloatware. What do you think?

I correct myself Android 13-14 can run on this phone, we have swap memory, and ways to increase the size of it, today i added 6GB of Swap memory. It makes the phone faster by 15%-20% (That can help to compensate)
But yes, at some point there will be too much size and beef inside a ROM, each linux distro today is 16 gb, they plan to drive Android to have even more functionalities, more compatibility with the pc, a more polished level, the system will get a bit bigger and become sluggish at some point, unless someone does something about it right, thats where the open source developers come in? But by personal experience, i use android since 2012, HTC ONE S, Blu Studio G2 HD, Samsung Galaxy S5 -- the higher you go in Version, the more lag you will encounter for gaming, or daily usage (SPECIALLY IF YOU USE MTK- Mediatek Cpu like this phone has, mtk is very bad compared to snapdragon, and the years of experience have proven it )

It seems MediaTek CPU is not only slower in terms of performance, but also hard to work with when intending to use a custom ROM. I haven't found any official release of a custom ROM for this phone model, "dandelion". LineageOS, Pixel Experience and alike websites; none of them list it. Looking up, it seems this is because there's no open-source version of a firmware for MediaTek chipsets. Lesson learnt to stay away from it on my future purchases.
I may try out the custom ROM you shared if I get stressed enough with the lags. Thanks!

I love how you said it hahaha , Placing a 2020 Ferrari engine inside a little Bettle or 1998 Ford Fiesta, correct !
It wont fit, or it will have problems, well i come from Android 2.0 , 4.1 , 6.0 marshmellow. I know very well in my old phones i cant flash android 10-11 onwards. Specially because the Internal Memory is of 8 or 16gb , very small.
And because of performance.
Oh yes Xiaomi would never release anything official for Custom Roms hahaha thats like asking the developer to give up on their own creation MIUI ... Which is something i doubt those chinese people can do, they cant even speak proper english. They are all about limiting the user, control their environment, milk them slowly by forcing them to buy many devices, take advantage of their ignorance and bloat their device, polute and make the user feel bad because that makes the client more compulsive, block root with accounts, sell their data, prevent rolling back versions, yet sell at cheap price so that poor people buy us always. Even a Samsung Galaxy S5 from 2015 is faster than this phone and more capable of doing more Linux functions.
It all has a "Chinese" psychology.
There are certainly Roms for mediatek , thats why AOSP Phhusson was released was created too. Mediatek is not only a bit confusing to work with but also Mediatek is simply limited in terms of kernel functions and performance in many devices, yes. Today i can straight forwardly say " Its crap or not so good compared to snapdragon-qualcom " its like comparing AMD GPU with Nvidia right? AMD - Snapdragon are the straight winners for me inside the Linux Kernel. Linux Environment. Nvidia is only good for Windows lately. Right now im trying to create a Regulatory.db , Regulatory.bin , trying to build a new CRDA - Central Regulatory Domain Agent inside this mediatek phone, to increase our wifi range, and its confusing for rookies, indeed. Its like they're telling us in our faces " You cannot change that, thats ilegal " BUT IM A HUMAN BEING I WANNA CHANGE THAT ! i wanna have incredible wifi range, or fry my chip by putting txpower 60 or 30 , who are you to prevent me from doing whatever i want Mediatek or Xiaomi?
ALSO this phone COULD have monitor mode, negated ,they cancelled that with the cpu and the programmed instructions. The kernel, who are you to take away my wifi modes? WHICH HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PRESENT inside ANY Linux Desktop!! So no moral for them to take away functions from the device thats is NEWER.
They basically insulted us, i bought it just to see the insult and now i kinda just play with this phone seeking to fry it or hack it/improve it, i really dont care anymore about what happens to it. But looking forward for the best.
If we do lsmod on the terminal with root. This phone has wmt_chrdev_wifi - wmt_drv which are actually Linux generic conventional names for wifi chips/drivers -- This obfuscated wifi chip/driver name could actually be a
" MT6631 wifi chip " OR " WCN685x " or " mt7615 " either way this chipset could be from 2012-2013, so they placed a 2012 piece on a 2020 phone. The fact that simple commands dont work
mt6357_accdet is actually the name of the IC controller for LED screen and battery.
If we do getprop | grep baseband
The RADIO for SIM CARD, is called LCSH_QOMP1_MT6762_SP (LWCTG_6177M_G)
But everything is so obfuscated and hidden, closed source.
Either way other Older Wifi Chipsets are 2-8 times better than this one. 2014 wifi chip with monitor mode - mt7612 - 5 times stronger. You know why they placed an older chip without mon mode on a new phone? Cuz they know it can get dangerous, but thats not the right approach with us. They messed up big time. They're winning enemies. Witchcraft. They have no idea what HACKING - PROGRAMMING truly means, or how far it can go, once we hack existence and the Soul, we program reality further than the physical and the visual, we're gonna be on the real domain.

Interesting way to look at it. Seeing phones as a political strategy of customer control and profiting out of their data. I hadn't thought this way, but makes sense lol After all, Chinese government is all about limiting and controlling people...
It seems your use case is different than mine. I bought this phone only because I was needing a dual-chip phone for my daily usage (Galaxy S6 is single chip), and it was on a promotion. I had heard good things of Xiaomi from friends who bought their phones, although they hadn't bought this one model specifically. I would really like to use a custom ROM, but the unofficial ones aren't "bulletproof" for this device, as users have reported some bugs. It's safer to stay in the stock ROM side for the time being
I looked up on this Project Treble. Interesting stuff. They are trying to abstract away the firmware code if I understand it correctly. Does that mean that there's hope for MediaTek devices to get support in the future and work smoothly with A13 custom ROMs?

I can confirm that my LG V20 (released in 2016 but purchased in 2021) can run circles around this Redmi 9A (which I also own), granted one is a flagship with 4GB/64GB while the other is entry-level with 2GB/32GB. But I didn't expect the performance gap to be this wide given the years in between. On the Redmi 9A (2GB), multitasking is 99% impossible; lag is terrible (even double tap to wake is 60% a failure due to lag). I'm not a developer, but I think Xiaomi cut too many corners with the storage speed and/or RAM rather than the processor itself. That's why I'm hoping a lighter ROM like this one can help.

I did some testing yesterday on another phone I have here, a Samsung Galaxy S4, which has 2GB RAM and runs on Lineage OS 18 (A11). It shouldn't be a surprise that this Galaxy S4 does way better multitasking than Redmi 9A.
I compared the usage of RAM for Android System in the Memory Usage settings app, and it turns out that they are roughly using the same amount of RAM. MIUI's use is around 600 MB, whereas Lineage OS is around 500 MB. That is, only 100 MB of difference. From that, one can assume that it's rather the processor usage that sucks: MIUI is probably using more CPU resources to run its "good-looking", yet heavy interface, whereas LineageOS doesn't, since its interface is simpler.
The downside of those older phones is that their battery drains out way faster. Redmi 9A's battery lasts for a whole day with Wi-Fi turned on. That's one upside of this phone
Lets hope for easier kernel installs, low sized and performance optimized roms in the future. I suggest waiting, for Android 14-15. When the projects and batches are out patched, improved, tested, we can then cater. Yes the phone boots at least haha. 2Gb ram, Helio 25 ! arm32_binder64 - A64 bits !

Question Anyone else dissapointed in the Realme GT2?

I picked this phone up as secondary device/work phone. I've had it for about 6 months now, after spending some time trawling reviews, and I find myself dissapointed.
I have updated the firmware every time to see if issues are resolved, however I am still not 100% happy.
My main issues are as follows:
Battery life seems really random, even with very little running, especially for a 5000Mah battery.
Performance feels heavily capped
I feel like the hardware of this phone just isn't being properly utilised, or has been performanced capped (maybe to try and prevent taking market share from the company's higher end devices). My personal mobile is an Oppo Find X2 Pro, using a Snapdragon 865, and whilst some stuff is noticeably fast and as snappy as I'd expect from the Snapdragon 888 in this phone, other things just feel slow or stuttery. Perfect example is games. In many games, like Diablo Immortal, the older Find X2 Pro sits around 60FPS with few issues and reasonable settings.
If I try to run the same settings with this phone, I'm greeted with a much more variable 40-60 FPS, which no amount of tweaking the settings seems to fix. There is no way the Snapdragon 865 should be outperforming the 888, but it is. The underlying OS is very similar as Oppo and Realme are part of the same group, to the point they even use the same game toolkit, but despite all this and the better hardware, the Realme is outperformed by the older Find X2 Pro.
Am I the only one getting this experience?
it is a great phone but I agree to you at the most
For me the best problem is the Os .
The apps is free to do what they want without a capable phone manager to stop them.
I also have this phone since it came out, very disappointed! Bad battery, heating, low performance in most apps, camera colors, audio etc.

Can't believe no one is talking about this..
Got mine weeks ago with first release of Android 12 pre-installed (from October 2021). Performance was amazing, Diablo was buttery smooth even stupidly maxed-out. Did only one OTA update (still Android 12 after that), it killed performance from every games even at low settings, stutters was everywhere, even at 30FPS cap, unnaceptable. Then did OTA to Android 13, same even with factory reset. Was thinking of returning it at that point.
Then, tried to unlock bootloader to clean install the oldest Android 12 available from here. Games was again buttery smooth, but camera app was crashing and OS had weird glitchs, soo.. was stuck here, disapointed. Tried using the newest Adreno GPU Drivers with root, same garbage performance from games. Debloated the entire rom, same. What's strange is that benchmarks results like 3DMark doesn't show any degradation from good A12 to bad A12/A13.. was thinking it could be refresh rate related but even tweaking with SmartHertz didn't help.
I'm now on Pixel OS (available from the official website), performance is amazing, original GT2 camera app is pre-installed (quality is exactly the same as ColorOs), have unlimited space usage from Photos in original quality, and everything is working. You also don't need SmartHertz to get everything in 120Hz (like Brave), "adaptative" resfresh rate is working too (60/120Hz). Battery life, got 12H SOT on a three days basis with mostly browsing usage, some photos, little games, and basic power saver on, ended at 7%. Pretty happy now, it's surprisely good for a rom this early.
So yes, all of this crap is ColorOS related. Something got broken somewhere at the A12 2022 timeline.
They unfortunately halted (momentarily ?) their unlock server so..
@Lightning- , are you talking about pixelos from this site? https://pixelos.net/download/porsche
Can you also point to a tutorial on how to get back to stock after flashing pixelos?
Yes, this one. There is also LineageOS rom but it just keep bootlooping on my side for some reason.
Revert to stock : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/collection-of-ota-packages.4542941/post-88558929 + https://github.com/italorecife/OppoRealme-OFP-Flash
For me it is the battery life and the lack of modification to the rom

This is really informative, thank you. I just wanted to ask if the microphone problem that this phone had is fixed when using Pixel OS?
friends, I'm on rmx3311_11_A.13 software right now and I don't like it especially charging and heating. there is rmx3311_11_A.22 update now, should i install it

On Android 13 the CPU has been capped to 80°c which otherwise would be 95°c, this is done in order to reduce overheating, this increases battery backup however reduces performance by 10-20%, there is a magisk module I've made that unlocks this cap if you want I can send

I suggest you stay on Realme UI since it seems to be more stable than any other AOSP based rom rn, it has better battery backup and camera quality too, but the choice is yours

Almost three weeks with POS. I don't have any issue at all, better than stock, better battery life, no stability issue (no FC or randoms reboot), and camera is the exact same (tested with two GT2, one with POS and one with RUI 13 locked bootloader, there is ZERO difference in photos..). It has unlimited storage too with Google Photos at original quality (even with RAW), wich is a big plus by itself, no root required.
LineageOS is available too but it always bootloop on mine so can't test it.

Will I be able to return to RUI in the future if I install a custom rom? (And still get the updates). Also How did you unlock the bootloader. The deep test app doesn't seem to work.
