I'm using Huawei Mate 20.
First, the device claims to have Wave 2, 4x4 MIMO with MU-MIMO support.
Normally, smartphone only has 2x2 MIMO, including the closest rival, One plus 6T.
Sounds pretty good so far, but after I perform speed test, result shows otherwise. The QAM capabilities are good and I'll explain more in the conclusion. Below is my test result.
Do share your speed tests too! And let's discuss!
My Test Result:
2.4GHz:
PHY/link speed of 72Mbps (tested at same distance from router)
- Mate 20: 35Mbps down, 40Mbps up
- Samsung A7: 42Mbps down, 48Mbps up
- Oppo F9: 42Mbps down, 48Mbps up
With several other distances tested, the speed is always lacking on the Mate 20. Even lower end device like Oppo F9 is consistently faster than the Mate 20. What's happening actually?
5GHz :
Will test after I get my new router.
Conclusion
But the claimed QAM capabilities can be noticed when you go to WiFi setting and check the link speed.
With 5GHz 2x2 MIMO router, the link speed can achieve full 866Mbps (meaning 256QAM). But actual speed is yet to be tested, which I suspect will be having same issue just like on the 2.4GHz (below par speeds).

It's not true. The official specification of Mate 20 & Mate 20 pro, has WiFi spec below:
802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (wave2), 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
https://consumer.huawei.com/en/phones/mate20/specs/
So, why the actual transmission speed is slower than cheaper phones?
Recently updated my Rog phone 3 (tencent) to the latest firmware and lost 5g connectivity. All 5g settings are turned on but won't connect. It's like the 5g antenna bands are off or something. Any help would be highly appreciated
Hi Bro,
I am having the same issue. I don't see any 5G network band on the phone. once I turn on the Dual-Band wifi Option then actually I don't see any 5G band network. have you solved this issue already? please let me know.

I just got the ROG phone 3 and same. VOLTE works but no 5G. I talked to ATT but they are as helpful as a bag of polished hammers. I tried messing with the APN and forcing 5g only but no connection. i heard that there could be an IMEI blacklist for not "officially supported" 5g phones but Idk what to do about that.

Hope your issue will solve after reading my words.
5G, 2.4GHz has several channel in the router. Please keep the channel in between 149-161 or above. Usually low budget router does not 5G bandwidth channel higher than 100. When i keep this channel 149-161 then 5G network appeared. And I have a tplink router which has 5G as well but this router channel range 36-48. Thats why Rog3 does not show it. If you read Rog3 features, then you would see Rog3 5G supported channels.. Lets Rock and Roll...hope you can able to fix it now.

Hi, I have an S21 Ultra 5G, (SM-G998B), the software update is up to date, and for a few days, I started to encounter various problems, sometimes I lose the signal altogether, I can't call, and I can't be called, I receive a message after 10 minutes that I have some missed calls, other times my mobile data does not work, it is set to 5G / 4G / 3G / 2G, I switch to 4G / 3G / 2G and it recovers for a while, then again to 5G / 4G / 3G / 2G when it has problems, to recover.
I thought it was because of the card, but it's not because of it, I changed it, and it still does.
I don't know what else to do, has anyone encountered this problem?
Thank you!
I assume that you compared with another phone at the same location, etc.
Also, get Network Signal to check what levels is the phone reporting.
If you see very low signal levels ONLY on this phone, a trip to the Samsung rep is probably needed as the modem might be fubar.
I have an open case with EE over the fact my Samsung gets 0-1 bar in what they claim is Excellent coverage indoor and outside. My son (PIxel) and daughter (iPhone) have a good signal so I'm wondering if the S21 Ultra has a signal issue.

Have terrible signal strength everywhere with my s21 ultra
I often find if I cycle airplane mode on and the off again it reconnects to 4g and is less terrible but still find my older mate 20 pro Huawei got much better signal strength everywhere than my brand new Samsung
4G Performance on Exynos S21 Ultra is waaayyy slower than an S10+ or S20+
Hi Has anybody else noticed that the S21 Ultra doesn't seem to deliver consistent and reliable 4G speeds, particularly in terms of 4G uploading. I've done a comparison between my S21 Ultra and a S10+ both on the same network (EE) and the results are shocking. The S21 Ultra simply doesn't...

Do you have better 5G reception? I had similar problem with 5G reception as my provider still working on expanding it. I am running on 4G for now.
I'm avoiding 5G for now as battery drain is worse having to keep two networks connected. 5G is data only so the phone has to keep a 4G connection for calls/texts and 5G for data.
I have followed EE's instructions: Reset network settings, remove clean SIM, airplane mode on/off, connect to the wrong network and connect back to EE. None of helped
I have the same problem as you. Any solution? I have s21 ultra exynos.
I have since spoken to an EE network engineer about my problem with the signal strength on my phone. So I opened a case due to being in an excellent coverage area but always having a 0-1 bar signal. They did various checks and reported back that everything was fine. I still had a low signal outside with a mast just up the road so they raised it up to an engineer to talk to me. He gave a better answer to my problem, I was near a mast and should have excellent cover. But years after the mast was installed Aldi opened a massive distribution centre right next to the mast and he said the number of phones connecting to the mast was very high thus reducing the signal quality. They are upgrading the mast to 5G so that should improve the situation for me. My original thought was the phone aerial was not up to much but after checking with others in the street they had the same signal problem. So it was Aldi's fault
Signal on my S21 Ultra is fantastic, Vodafone UK. I'm on Vodafone with my work iPhone Xs and the S21 Ultra always has at least one bar more.
I anticipate that you in comparison with some other smartphone at the equal place, and so forth.
Also, get network sign to check what degrees is the smartphone reporting.
Tutuapp 9Apps Showbox
If you see very low sign tiers best on this smartphone, a ride to the Samsung rep is probably needed because the modem might be fubar.
I have signal issues with EE too with s21U. Never had problems in VODAFONE UK. Glad that it is not just me on this boat.
Do let me know if any of you guys sort out this. I know it is not to do with our devices, it might be to do with a config issue either at our or their end.
Has anyone ever found a solution to the abysmal signal strength on this lemon
s21 poor signal strength

Haven't faced any signal issues so far. I get fantastic LTE signal on my S21U, same as my wife's OnePlus 6. No issues with call quality or network speed either.
Congrats
I'm guessing your not in an area with iffy coverage then or your just lucky
Most are not
Which is quite evident if you bothered to read any of the thread I posted as an example

I'm sorry that you have problems with your device, but do you know most people? The vast majority of people who bought this phone, doesn't face any issues with the signal, so they don't go to post on forums about it. There is always that loud minority who think that everyone has this problem, just because they have it.
And it's "you're", not "your".

Hi ,
Since 4 Weeks im the owner of an Mi11 .
Unfortunately I have to say that I am very disappointed with this Device .
My Problems are :
- very poor WLAN Receive Power ( maybe the Antenna ) , i change my AVM Fritzbox against an new one , but still the same Problems . Mesh Thettering / Switching dont work perfectely . With my Company Phone , an Iphone 11 the Mesh Roaming works like charm and it receives in my kitchen 560 MB/s with the 5GHz WLAN.
My Mi11 drops down in Kitchen, wich is 3 meters away from the Fritzbox to 10MB/s or it loose the Connection completely . The Mesh roaming dont work too.
Till the Mi11 change to my Repeater the Bandwith goes down to 5 MB/s the maybe it switches to the Repeater who can deliver again 500 MB/s .
- Poor Mobile Network Power . I loose the Connection on Calls on Places where i can take Calls with my old Huawei Phone.
Am I the only one with these problems or do others feel the same way?
Thanks
Michael
I don't have such WiFi issues
and regarding mobile data, are you using the same operator and SIM card as in huawei?
Ok , Hmm . I use the same SIM as under the Huawei Handy .
for wifi -> i have the same, disabling WPA3 helped a little on my fritzbox but not in total
mobile --> the same, i have my company pixel 5 next to my mi 11, both have deutsche telekom sim, pixel is having a much better signal and also gets higher download speeds
Clear system cache, network reset, clear sim card tool kit data, check Access Point Names, replace sim card.
Also, try to adjust the incoming signal throught the hidden menu of which your sim approves.
I dont have these problems with my mi 11.
I have my Mi11, since the beginning of last month, and i must say i never experienced bad wifi/cellular connection. So i suggest you make a network/factory reset..

I think Xiaomi's European models have problems in all areas that the Chinese models don't. My CN model has fantastic WiFi values with both the original and the Xiaomi.exiaomi.eu ROM. I also have the Fritzbox as a router.

Hello there,
I am not getting good data speed on S20 FE 5G . When i put same sim in old HTC U11 and Pixel 3a XL then get double speed eventhough they are old phones . I tried to toggle 4G only but still its very slow internet epsecially indoors. I also did reset of network settings but still did not improved internet speed. Any solution? I like everything else about this phone but this issues is irritating and i dont want to send it back just for this issue
I recall that carriers have different network connection settings for each model of phones. So it's not actually 'fair' to compare those devices.
I suggest you talk to you carrier and ask for help, or you can also submit error report to samsung members app > get help > error report after reproducing the speed issue once more.
Could you share the device model number and the software version it's on?

I tried all possible setting my EE network(UK) suggested to me and even created a new access point but it did not make any difference. Model Number is SM-G781B/DS and is android 11 running the latest nov security Patch. Another funny thing is that there is often 5G that appears on the phone signal bar when the speed is less than 1MB/sec. I don't know if it's just me or anyone else who also gets less speed in comparison to any other android phone. I use fast. com and Speedtest to know about downalod and upload speed

5G icon could appear but in reality still be connected to LTE, some carriers do that.
anyway, data related things will have to be taken care by the carrier side but sounds like you're not getting a good care...Idk what to tell you since i'm in the US region. Idk much about what sort of help you can utilize in the UK region.
