The Orange SPV Smartphone PC20A from HTC is very similar to the xda in terms of bootloader, rom updates, etc. Has anyone played with the SPV? I have a few ideas that may be worth investigating.
It should be possible to use the SPV's camera on the xda as the connector pinouts should be the same.
The memory layout and bootloader commands are similar on the SPV and xda. Where would I look for the memory address of the Service provider unlock code on the SPV if they DO use the same layout? There is no memory search command in SPV bootloader as there is on the xda...
The pin-outs are not exactly the same. The connector is flipped 180 degrees.... HTC has a habit of making changes.. for example the connector on the iPAQ 3800 is different from the 3900 which is different from the XDA... all have the same connector but different pin outs..

I was not aware. And many sites on the net list only one set of iPaq>3800 pinouts. Please elaborate, so I can adjust the iPaq conversion section of the connectors page accordingly.
I am very interested in this information: How do we find the service provider unlock code on the SPV ??
Serial cable is on its way from US to Europe with FedEx and I'd like to use it for something usefull.
The above question right above this posting was from me - just forgot to login...

Sorry guys... I mixed up my product numbers... I should have typed 3600 is different from the 3800...
I hope I didn't confuse anyone...
I was told from the only one besides Orange that I know of that can unlock the SPV smartphone that unlocking the SPV is different from unlocking a XDA. The code isn't stored in a register even though its also a HTC thingy.
Anybody got some knowledge to share ??

He said whaaa? Huh?
I think what he said is that if you install the patched bootloader (using the unlocker) you will have the ability to flash a Hermes radio, and if you do so, you will be stuck with that radio for the time being. I'm pretty sure that's all he's said..I'll ask him. Yep, that's all he said. To elaborate on that, this wouldn't affect your ability to flash WM6 in any way except that your Hermes radio (should you decide to flash one) will stay put. Olipro warned folks of this fact early on. Most people will find no compelling reason to flash a Hermes radio to their Treo.
Summiter isn't the expert on the mysteries of bootloader assembly..that's Olipro's realm of dark wizardry. And he knows far more than any of the cubicle monkeys answering the support line at Cingular or Palm. He's also saved a lot of people many dollars/loonies/euros/pounds/pence/rupees by creating free unlockers for a multitude of HTC devices. So, uh, like, respect the man and stuff and whatnot. And so forth. And so on.

I have a suggestion for you. Click on Olipro's name, and then choose to search for his posts. Now read them. You will find that he knows these devices far more intimately than most folks at Palm or Cingular, and perhaps even a good portion of HTC. There's a total of perhaps 10 folks who frequent xda-dev who can skillfully dig into and modify the bootloaders and radios - and he's in the top 3. So yeah, he's much more of an expert. Now go read the forums I suggested to you in an earlier post for f*cks sake, or go away.

Hello Olipro,
I think you can help me on my problem, you are the boss for HTC,
I have same problem with the above topics, same with my HERME200 X01HT, I already have network unlocking code, but I can not enter the code, because it says.
"You have tried 35 times, please wait until time out" however, I've been waiting for 6days ago but still can not comes out. I still can not enter the code.
What would be the solution for this????
thanks for your sharings
Jhemzz
Is there no solution for this?
Same thing but 13 times been waiting over a week on an Elf HTC to enter sim lock code?
I'm getting this same error- sorry to bump a dead thread.
Using the Magic_Unlocker and Olipro's HardSPL/Unlocker doesn't work, and my phone is telling me that I've tried 100 times, please wait until timeout.
Is there any way to edit the rate it times out in so that I can enter the code?
Same problem, Treo 750V, tried 67 times, please wait until timeout...
Guys, how did you solved your own?
How much do I have to wait, or what can I do to speed things up?
I have the code now, official one, just can't enter it...
Hi all,
Sorry for the noob question. I just got my AT&T Tilt and I just want to make sure that I am in the right forum. Is this the forum for AT&T Tilt (AT&T 8925)? I've search around, it's either this forum or the Hermes forum. I appreciate anyone points me at the right direction.
Thanks a bunch!
forum
The 8925 is a Kaiser so you're in the correct forum.
The AT&T Tilt is just a re-brand of the HTC Kaiser phone. AT&T just names it the Tilt because it's hip and cool and something they can put a (TM) next to on packaging.
Thanks....
ceelo2007 & jon_k,
Thank you....awesome!
They should update the names that we call some of these devices so new people can see. Like instead of just 8525 it could be "At&t/Cingular 8525". You know?
heh...
I spent quite a bit of time figuring out if this was the right area at first too. They really need to add Tilt to the models next to Kaiser....

The naming conventions for the forums seem to be by HTC development codenames.
XDA-devs deals with many different models of HTC devices which have been re-branded by many different providers and depends on the source and region of your particular device and service.
So this site tends to use the pre-release codenames to refer to all devices of the same general hardware family. Hence the Tilt can be called a TytnII or a Kaiser or a Vario III, 8925...etc... with only minor diffs in hardware/software.
Why can't they have all the names known for the device so there would be less confusion? (Start with the new ones and go down from their)

To avoid posts from people who are incapable of identifying what device they have. As well as "their" from "there". lol
Ahh, you caught me. . ., also there already is .
*I* know there is a wiki but do others?
Maybe they know but there not sure if it's over they're -------> or over their <------.
My opinion is that these forums are pretty technical, and if you can't properly identify your model, you probably don't belong here. I know from my expertise in Motorola modding that I have been PM'ed countless times by 12 year old kids that decided they were going to mod, hex edit, or flash their phone, bricked it, and then PM'ed me for a magical fix before their parents found out.

Other than the name differential, I believe the Euro Kaiser has a camera on the front as well as the back for "video call". The tilt has the regular one in the back.

Hi,
I have recently buy a Kaiser through ebay, and the guy has send it to me from UK to Spain, but he told me it was unlocked and it is not. So I am trying to unlock it and found out that I can not event install HardSPL, in order to proper unlock it, but it does not work. I have use the SSPL-kais.exe program but I have an error when running it:
ERROR: CreateProcess failed with Errorcode = 2
- The system cannot find the file specified.
and when tried any other solution kind of Kaiser_RUU.exe, it says to me that the Kaiser is not found
What can I do?
Cheers

Whao, slow down there.
What are you trying to do at the moment. Flash Hard SPL? Which one, OliPro 1.1 or JockyW 3.*?
It would be better for you to post at the end of the thread you are having trouble with. Follow the steps closely, and if something doesn't work, do us and yourself a favour and write down the steps you did and what went wrong and any error messages, strange goings on etc, etc.

Hi Dave,
I finally manage to unlock and install W6.1 in Spanish. What I did was to hard reset the PDA and follow the steps I was following before, but this time it works
But I got a question maybe you may know... The Kaiser I have bought looks like it does not have a GPS receiver? is that possible? I have install TomTom 6 and it does not find the GPS receiver
ANy idea?
Cheers

There are a few things. Try GPS Tool, or Visual GPS CE to help you get your first fix, rather than Tom Tom (it's rather hard to config). Kaisers use COM 4 a baud 4800. You should try Quick GPS to download the latest satalite positions (make sure you have the correct country setup).
Oh and try a different Radio, it makes the world of difference for GPS. Flashing radios doesn't wipe anything so just try a few then try GPS again.
Dave
which radio will you reckon is the one I need?
Cheers
Hi hittori look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182 and download a few to try. I would sugest going with the 1.65 series of radios as they seem to have better compatibility with camera in my opinion.
Sorry to hear of your trials, Hittori. I'm glad you are on the right track to getting it working. Care to let your XDA friends know who the turd is that you bought it from? Don't want any of us to get screwed over again. Good luck!

in higher dollar transactions, ebay and paypal fees are killer.
many sellers try to recover some of the fees from "handling" charge..
if youre a seller , its hard to fault the idea.
if youre a buyer, its hard to swalllow the high shipping charge..
I want to unlock the phone and it seems that XDAManipulator is the right tool for the job. The problem is that it requires a serial cable and i cannot seem to find a serial-to-miniUSB cable anywhere! I have been trying to search for several days without success; its very frustrating. In my frustration i ordered an old cable for older HTC phones (with a wide pin connecter).
There's quite a few old communication utilities that i have that work over serial so i would benefit a lot from such a cable.
Thanks in advance.

The HTC Kaiser wiki has details about how to unlock the TyTN II and no serial cable is reqd. I see you're new here, welcome along. It's well worth reading up and there's loads of good info in that wiki including links explaining how to do what you want. Note that people will expect you to do your homework and read whats available here on the topic before posting any questions that are already covered. The search function will also be useful. Lots of holiday reading!

What on earth made you think nuespl would work on a Kaiser/TyTN II Everything I've been able to find out about nuespl by searching for it here, shows it's for use with the HTC Titan (not TyTN II which uses either the original HTC spl or if customised hardSPL). I suggest you/anyone else considering any flashing reads the relevant parts of the wiki here before taking any action (and making any potentially expensive mistakes).
I'm not familiar with MTTY but maybe someone else who is, can advise if your device is salvageable.

Titan = TyTN II looks the same Honest mistake
You bricked your phone dude, by not reading and understanding. I know that the last thing you need is a scolding right after you killed your $500 phone but this is for all others who feel the need to jump right in the deep end without testing the depth of the water first.

Yes but the cost of a new motherboard may make it beyond economical repair - check with your local HTC base/agent for full details. See my reply to one of your other posts about this also.
